Alaka continued on her path even when the patting started. Pat. Pat. Eventually she spun on her heel, looking at Zam while walking backwards without breaking pace. When the other girl started talking about things like toast trees and muffin bushes, she could only cock her head slightly to the side and offer a confused series of blinks. Those... weren't real things. Among many other lessons, the Shinjin taught her about cooking. So she knew toast was just crisped bread, which came from wheat, and muffins were... more complicated, but also something that was baked! She couldn't exactly make either of them, though. Her tools were rather limited. Speaking of tools...
It was then that they entered the next clearing, and Alaka's final destination. There was a small tent, more of a doghouse really, made with sticks and large leaves, with a place for a campfire in front of it, and a pile of metal objects off to the side. Pans, pots, and broken machines of all shapes and sizes. She gathered up a bunch of litter in the forest and made use of what she could. As for her current goal...
She placed a hand on Zam's shoulder and led the girl closer to the fire before pushing down in an attempt to get her to sit. Whether she was successful or not, she'd gather up some dead branches fallen from the nearby trees and drop them onto the fireplace before moving over to the pile. It only took a moment to retrieve a pan and strainer. She put the pan on the ground and set the strainer atop it, then held the honeycombs above it.. right before crushing them between her hands. Her fingers deftly squeezed the honey out of the waxy container, then pushed the thick syrup through the strainer to get rid of any solid fragments to gather the pure honey in the pot.
Once that was done, she set the strainer aside to be cleaned later and used her now free hand to fire a small ki blast into the pile of fire to ignite it, the heat also burning away any debris stuck to her fingers, so that she could hang the pan over it. While the fire slowly grew and the pan heated up, Alaka scampered into the tent for a moment before coming out with two small boxes and a spatula, each fitting in the palm of her hand. From the boxes she dropped a small amount of butter and sugar onto the pan, then used the spatula to mix them around. It was all she had left of her supply of butter and sugar, but she really wanted Zam to try the honey candy she could make, so... it was worth using it up!

Though Alaka couldn’t offer any answers, Zam didn’t really mind. So what if her friend didn’t know? It was okay. She had never seen a toast tree either, but it had to exist! Cuz toast had to come from somewhere, right? Right. So she would keep her eyes open for any sort of tasty plants! The rest of the way she hummed a playful adventure tune to herself. Upon reaching the campsite, the cheery girl let out an impressed whistle. "Wheeeew... You have gathered lots of... treasure!" She was completely honest too. Earthling things were super interesting! She had learned so much while living with Grandpa, but every day she ran into new things and stuff.
Without wasting a moment, the energetic girl plopped down to sit where wordlessly instructed. She watched with keen interest shining in her eyes while the other Majin worked. Honey and butter and sugar... Oooh, she liked all of those things! But she couldn’t really figure out what happened if they were put together. To her this cooking stuff was pure magic. Taking different things and turning them into a whole new thing with fire? Totally magic!
Suddenly a spark of genius struck the scatterbrained Majin. Bouncing in place she suddenly piped up excitedly. "Ooh, I know what tastes great with honey!" She fiddled around with her pockets for a moment... Before realizing that she didn’t actually have any. Sooo she instead reached behind her back and pulled out two plain muffins, offering the other to her friend of course. If the silent chef questioned the mysterious treats, the oddball would’ve simply shrugged and commented something about a muffin bush. Sure, anyone familiar with the forest could claim there were no muffin bushes around here... But then where did she get the muffins, hm? Exactly. Words: 306 [Total = 3609] Majin Alaka

When Zam exclaimed that Alaka's salvage was 'treasure', she just absentmindedly rubbed at the back of her head while her cheeks reddened from embarrassment. She didn't really think it was all that impressive, but she'd be lying if she said it didn't feel good having someone around who did. Most of her focus was on the pan in front of her, gingerly lifting some of the hardening honey and folding it over, letting the heat spread it out again, then packing it into a square once more. Each time she repeated the motion, the liquid began thicker and thicker, until it nearly solidified entirely.
The sound of Zam calling out prompted her to turn her head just in time to see the girl pull out two muffins from... somewhere. Alaka just stared at the muffins for a long while, then looked up at Zam's smiling face, then back down to the muffins... then at Zam... muffins... her eyes unfocused as her mind struggled to make sense of where Zam could have gotten the muffins from. She definitely didn't have them earlier, right? The traditional Majin pants didn't have pockets, if she recalled correctly, and she wasn't carrying any container as far as she knew. What... how... muffin...
Alaka simply... slowly turned her head back to the pot. She would worry about the strange muffins in a second, but letting her focus break could lead to burned candy! And nobody liked burned candy. She prodded at the honey squares with the spatula a bit longer until she was certain they were firm before setting the spatula aside and picking the honey squares off the pan, showing no visible discomfort despite the metal still glowing red hot. She shuffled over to Zam and offered one of the two squares to her. And if Zam took the candy, it would have Alaka's hand open for the other girl to trade her a muffin for it. The square looked almost like a caramel-colored chocolate bar. If Zam bit into it, she would find it soft and melty... at first, though she'd find that it would quickly become chewy inside of her mouth. And it's flavor was as one might imagine- honey but sweeter with a hint of creaminess courtesy of the butter.

Smugly the strange Majin grinned at her own genius. Of course muffins were the best buddy for honey. Gooey goodness mixed perfectly with tasty softness. She was an expert in eating delicious things, you know. Her curiosity quickly shifted to the little chef’s work. Honestly she had never seen something like this. Grandpa cooked, but he made foods and... healthy salads... Just the thought was enough to make her shudder. Bleh! Eager to get it out of her head, she focused on studying the candy-making thoughtfully. Hm hm... What would it taste like...?
Once the honey candy bar thing was done, the childish creature leaned forward oh so expectantly. She had been veeery patiently waiting for, like, many minutes now. And she didn’t want to wait any longer! Deftly she tossed her own muffin into the air, leaving a hand free to snatch the offered candy. In the same motion, she plopped the trade muffin into Alaka’s palm. Fair was fair, yup. And finally the tossed treat landed smoothly back into her open hand. She shifted her attention to the caramel-covered bar and turned it in her hands. The color was nice! And the smell... She lifted the bar closer and her nose twitched twice... Also nice!
After enough admiring, Zam tentatively bit into the fresh candy. Nom nom and nom, she munched thoughtfully. Then she suddenly stopped, quivered and squirmed. A delighted squeal erupted from the bottom of her heart. "Shooo GHOOOOD!" So sweetly the honey melted in her mouth and flowed on her tongue. It all ended with a sugary explosions inside her. Practically glowing with happiness, she went back to nomming the treats. Bite by bite they vanished down her bottomless gullet. ...Until she suddenly bit her finger with a rubbery squeak. Oh what? Gone already? Well, being a greedy little Majin tended to do that.
Oh well!
Still savoring the lingering taste, the energetic Majin bounced back onto her feet. "Hey, hey Alaka! Listen! Thank you so much!" Maybe by now it was predictable, but she suddenly lunged in for one more tightly-squeezing hug. "I had so much fun today!" She only reluctantly gave her new friend some breathing room. Awkwardly twiddling her fingers, she searched for the words. This part was always hard. "Um, I have to get going now... I promised Grandpa I would be back before it gets too late..." Her tone brightened quickly enough though. "But I will visit you again, yeah? Oooh or you can visit my home!" Good idea, great idea. She gave the girl a chance to say goodbyes as well before rising to flight and blasting off like a pink comet.

Alaka smiled brightly when Zam bit into the candy. She was happy for having someone to share things like this with after being left alone for such a long time. Even a small giggle managed to roll out of her when Zam accidentally bit herself. It kind of made her wish that she had more ingredients to cook with, but she could only make do with what she could find in the forest. Even the butter and sugar she managed to make herself! She had become something of a survival expert in the passing years. More than just survive- she could thrive!
She turned her attention to the muffin in her hand just before Zam lunged at her, forcing her to blade her body slightly and hold her hand around the treat to protect it from the other Majin's body while she was crushed in a tight hug. When Zam said that she had to leave, Alaka looked down at the ground sadly. It was obvious that Zam couldn't have stayed forever, of course, but the other girl had just started to grow on her! It was a shame that their meeting had to be cut short.
But when Zam said they could see each other again, Alaka offered a curt nod. Though it made her realize that she didn't actually have any idea of where Zam lived, or who this 'grandpa' was. The sorcerer that created her, maybe? She really had to wonder though, who could create someone like Zam? Majin were supposed to be harbingers of doom. But this one seemed too happy and cheerful to bring doom to anyone.
After Zam jumped into the air, Alaka swung her arm in a wide, full-bodied arc for an especially energetic wave. But, then it occurred to her that their meeting didn't have to end juuuust yet! She could follow Zam back home just to see where the other Majin lived. It'd make her easier to find in the future if nothing else! Alaka lowered her center of gravity, bracing herself as she prepared to take flight to follow her new friend...
Friend? Disgusting. Don't make me gag.
For the first time, instead of cowering to the Voice, the Majin simply narrowed her eyes, refocusing her Ki to fly-
Pathetic. Do you really think someone like that could be friends with a monster like you?
That one gave her pause, wobbling a little as she cast her gaze up towards the sky. All she had to do was fly after Zam. Just... kick up off the ground and...
You think you deserve to be happy after everything you've done? All the lives you've taken? Face it. I'm the only 'friend' you'll ever have!
She slowly dropped onto her knees, eyes falling into her lap as her hand shifted to uncover the muffin she'd been holding. The Majin just sat there, thumb gently rubbing against the side of the muffin while she stared down at it in silence.
