Tora
- Tiger Island - - E A R T H - High over the waters, way up in the midst of the clouds, floated a vehicle of sorts. It looked like a rounded cube, with a windshield, two doors, a rear window, and thrusters where wheels would have been. They quietly hummed as the air car remained stationary above the seas. Even up so high, the air was still nice and warm and there was barely any wind. Laying on the roof of the vehicle was Van, an off-world adventurer and explorer. He yawned and stretched a bit. The boy had been napping, taking a break from searching the various islands. Giving him shade was an umbrella that he had fastened to the side of the car with flex tape. He finally sat up, blinked a few times, and scratched at his hairline while glancing around. With another yawn, he reached into his green bag and pulled out a data tablet. It beeped to life and a map of the surrounding seas appeared on the screen. He gave the map a look and then glanced over the side of the car to see the various small islands below. With a half-satisfied shrug, he swiped across the tablet, looking for a particular location. "Hmmm..."Van pinched his fingers against the screen, causing the map to zoom out. There were a few dots already marked, but they were grayed out. He had already visited them and had nothing to show for it. The next one wasn't too far away. A single island set a little ways away from the others in the chain. With a nod to himself, he put the tablet back in his bag and leaned over the side to toss it into the passenger seat via the open window. He then hopped to his feet and did some stretches, limbering up for the journey ahead. The boy was wearing nothing but a pair of red swim trunks. He balanced on his toes and stretched his arms up over his head. He held them there for about thirty seconds and then let them fall to his side. He hopped back and forth, side to side, and grinned to himself. Then he stepped off the top of the car and began to fall. The air rushed past him as he hurtled towards the sea. His hair whipped and tossed as he dove, his cheeks and lips flapped and it made him giggle. Right before he hit the ocean's surface, he tucked into himself, rolled into a ball and then launched himself forward across the water. This created a wake and launched sea water to either side of him as he flew across the surface. He zigged and zagged, diving down to let his fingers and toes skim across the water every once and a while as he flew. Van watched the water moved around his fingers and chuckled to himself. Unfortunately, he wasn't paying attention to where he was going and by the time he looked up it was almost too late to avoid the large yacht. "YIKES!!" Instinctively, he pulled up, using his hand to touch the very top of the boat and push him away from it. The force was so great that it rocked the boat violently and caused Van to go flying off in an unintended direction. He skipped across the water like a stone, doing a few back flips along the way. Eventually he caught himself and ground to a halt in mid-air. He looked back across the water to see the yacht on the horizon. It was already moving away from him. Someone on the deck was shouting something and waving their fist in the air. Van gulped and then put his hands on either side of his mouth and shouted. "SSSSSOOOOORRRRRYYYYYY!!!!"With another chuckle he looked around to see where he had stopped when something caught his eye. There was a lone building standing atop an elevated bit of terrain. He flew off towards it. As he got closer he realized it was a dojo, or at least it used to be. It had fallen into disrepair. Tora's keen ears heard the reverberation of footsteps making their way up the stairs of his dojo. The Tiger Style master had been deep in meditation, his incredible focus allowing his already heightened senses to detect the visitor before they even made it through the doorway.
With a blur of incredible speed, the Roaring Tiger Spirit of Earth mmaterialized in front of the stranger- a short, blonde-haired lad with messy hair and a kind demeanor. With one eye closed, a gleaming smile and a (cliche) thumbs up, Tora greeted the boy:
"Welcome, welcome!" he began, his other eye opening as he dropped into a loose, comfortable martial arts stance. "If you want to take another step into this dojo, you're gonna have to show me you, well, know some martial arts!"
Why had this boy come to his island? If Tora played his part right his goofy demeanor would hopefully relax the young man enough to get some information out of him.
"First, though-- what brings you to Tiger Island, kid? Fame? Fortune? Or, maybe you wanted to see the handsome martial arts master, Tora no Seishin, so he can teach you what it means to be a man! Well, look no further! Here he is, right before you!"
Okay, maybe Tora had put the cheese on a little heavy with this one. But he might as well stick with it. Changing his persona now wouldn't do him much good.

Tora
It seemed like a gust of air hit him when the man suddenly appeared. Nothing had actually hit the boy, but he had been genuinely caught off guard. Van's eyes went wide and he instinctively took a step back. The man, Tora, introduced himself. The boy tried not to giggle, but he did come off as kind of silly. But, in a good way. He seemed like a person that knew how to have fun. "First, though-- what brings you to Tiger Island, kid? Fame? Fortune? Or, maybe you wanted to see the handsome martial arts master, Tora no Seishin, so he can teach you what it means to be a man! Well, look no further! Here he is, right before you!"Van smiled, put the palms of his hands together, and bowed in front of the self-proclaimed master of Tiger Style. "I don't mean to offend but..."The boy scratched at his head through his messy blonde hair. "I didn't know anyone was here really... I came looking for temples and ruins. I'm a bit of an explorer. These island chains are always flush with them."
Van kicked at the dirt. "...buuuuut... now I'm curious to see what this Tiger Style is all about!"The boy snapped his fingers as if he suddenly remembered something. "Drat! Tora gripped Van's hand tightly, gauging the boy's strength as he did so. Surprisingly, the kid had a firm and confident grip. Something about him seemed strong. As their handshake ended, Tora gestured for the kid to follow as they headed for a clearing nearby, making their way through to foliage and dense vegetation. They emerged near a destroyed portion of the island, the place where Lute and Khoshai had fought. Tora didn't want to think about that fight now. What he needed was a lighthearted spar. Plus, this kid had potential. Tora wanted to unwind with this one. Still, he had to test the boy's strength. As they reached the center of a massive crater he dropped into a loose fighting stance, a mist-like blue aura surrounded the martial artist. A moment later, when the mist that skewed his form dissipated and spread outwards Tora appeared in a familiar white chitinous armour, complete with a swaying tiger-like tail behind him. A strange fog had filled the battlefield, not quite dense enough to blind but thick enough to seem... living. Around Tora a strange and dense auric construct shifted and writhed with an organic pattern, almost the face of a living tiger. Tora laughed and waited for Van to showcase his own power. No doubt the kid had a few tricks up his sleeve. Despite his aloof nature he reminded Tora no Seishin of himself. Wasting no time the ki-generated mist swirled with motion, a dozen claws slashing at the kids' frame. Tora himself leapt at Van with his fist extended into a fiercesome punch. "Don't hold back!" Tora
After their initial meeting, Tora led Van through some of the foliage and into a clearing. It wasn't too far of a walk from the dojo. The blonde boy took in the sight of the destroyed land. He knew instantly that powerful people had fought here. There was even a type of ki residue left over. Van could feel it resonating with his own. One of the ki signatures was dark and twisted. It made him shiver to feel it's slimy embrace. Van followed Tora into the large crater. He quick stepped down the interior of it. The thing was massive, almost like an arena all it's own. The boy watched as Tora transformed. Gone was his gi, no replaced with white armor of some sort. It reminded Van of a bug's exterior skeleton. Van also noticed the tail and grinned. Tora looked kind of like a tiger now. The fog brushed across his body as it rolled through the crater. It felt different than normal. Van noticed it was ki infused somehow. He wondered what its purpose was but he figured Tora would show him eventually. Van failed to get into a fighting pose. He never really did. If they were fast enough to hit him, a pose wouldn't help and if they were slow then he'd just be wasting his movements. A pattern emerged around Tora's body. It looked like the head of a tiger and it moved as if alive. The boy grinned wide. Tora's ability so far was super cool! He wondered if he minded if Van copied it and added it to his collection. With his hands in his pockets, Van noticed the mist swirl and reshape. Before he could react though, a dozen claw-like shapes swiped and slashed at him. They were quick, the first few caught him across the face and shoulder. He ducked and dodged the others. A trail of blood ran down his cheek from one of the cuts. His white undershirt was ripped open across his shoulder and stained with a bit of blood. Just a flesh wound really. Van's eyes were wide open as he stared back at Tora. "WOW! That was such a cool att--"Suddenly he felt faint and blinked a few times. He knew what this was. The Cursed Mark was trying to take hold of him. Tora leaped at Van, attempting to punch the boy head on. While Tora was in the air, a surge of powerful ki energy poured out of Van. His eyes faded to black as the mark crawled across his skin. He caught Tora's fist in his hand with a blank expression on his face. Tora would feel himself growing weaker just being in contact with the boy. "Don't hold back!"The words wouldn't reach him while the Curse held Van captive. He was lost to animalistic urges and behavior. He just stood there, staring back blankly as the black and purple aura flowed out of him and mixed with the mist surrounding them both. The Tiger Style Master's aloof nature was quickly thrown off as he felt his strength sapped from him, the boy entering a bizarre transformation. And the energy he emanated... It wasn't pleasant. This was not the lighthearted youth Tora had challenged to a friendly match. The boy had caught his attack and it had actually hurt. When his stare locked with Van's he could hardly see what was happening with the kid. It was as if his true self was lost behind the eyes of an animal. The boy was a beast, eh? Well, Tora was a friend of the King of beasts. The mist around the boy solidified as Tora no Seishin prepared for the next assault. A few ethereal constructs of energy formed into actual tigers, prowling around and encircling his foe in predatory fashion. In the next moment, Tora and three of the eight tigers attacked. He slashed at the kid with his own claws the most savagely, hoping to gauge the strength of this form before it sapped him of his own. This was a fight that had to be over quick. Tora had fought with this type of fighter before, but not one with such powers of attrition. And that hadn't even been enough for it to want to engage him instantly. Tracker Rebuke drains 5 ki! Light Eating drains 5 ki and 5% PL! While the battle continued on outside, within Van's own mind he was fighting an entirely different opponent. He was struggling against the hold of the Cursed Mark. It had control over his body and it had no plans to release him. Out in the real world, Tora's summoned ethereal tigers encircled Van. They swayed and dipped through the mist, eyes locked on the boy as they slowly circled him. Van was quiet and still. He stared forward, not even really looking at Tora anymore. Almost like he was in some sort of a daze. His usually green eyes were swallowed up now, full of darkness. Suddenly Tora lunged at Van, slashing with his claws. Van made no attempt to flee or dodge. The attack hit and ripped a new hole in his shirt. Claw marks ran diagonally across Van's chest, blood seeped out of them. Some of the tigers also attacked at the same time, but this time Van moved, unnaturally and almost like some kind of puppet. He ducked under one swipe, side-stepped another, and then jumped back away from the third. His body twisted through the air until he landed on his feet again. He was hunched over, arms dangling like rope, face covered in shadow. Suddenly he jerked upright. Black energy pooled around his hands and then quickly formed into giant claws, almost like he was subconsciously mimicking Tora. The boy launched himself at Tora, no fancy moves or dramatic flair. He slashed at the Tiger Master in the same fashion that Tora had done to him. The whole time his eyes were blank, just pools of blackness. His face was expressionless. He seemed like a doll of sorts. Tora felt uncomfortable. In their last exchange, Van had copied Tora's clawed slashes, and in the brief moment of contact his strange energy made Tora... drained. He barely had time to evade the motions which were perfect mimics of his own, albeit less flashy and over the top. It didn't have Tora's smile. Instead, the youth moved like a puppet. Only he lacked a ventriloquist, either that or the controller was... Gone. Hidden behind the scenes. A mystery had unfolded in front of Tora no Seishin, and he couldn't help but be intrigued. Who was this boy? What was his story? And what on Earth was wrong with him? This fight had just begun yet Tora still felt drained. As if a prolonged encounter with this particular kid would lead to his defeat. In fact, Tora was frightened to let the kid even touch him. If just being around him was this dangerous he imagined how painful it would be for him to actually land a blow. Tora may have gotten in over his head yet again. What was it with nice kids and hidden dark powers? Tora sighed, focusing his energy as he levelled bis gaze at Van. Once again the mist thickened, before it finally targetted the boy with an incredible attack. Tora's own aura came alive, and he stepped forward with the giant beast above him, itts brilliant jade eyes locked onto the boy as well. The beast laughed, a low chortle as he knelt down next to Tora. "It's been a while since you brought me out this much, boy. And never in this form... You're that intimidated by this child, eh? Let's see then... What shall we do about it?" With that Tora and the Tiger dissappeared, moving at incredible speeds. A blue light had replaced their physical form, and it would attempt to pass straight through Van, slashing at his own giant claws close to a hundred times in a matter of seconds! Tora only intended to target the malformed portions of the boys' body. How much did he rely on this malignant transformation? Who was in control? After the assault Tora and the giant tiger would rematerialize on the other side of the crater, panting. This was exhausting... Tracker Rebuke drains 5 ki! Light Eating drains 5 ki and 5% PL! Sapped! Tora
Van's body swayed back and forth, his black eyes never looking away from Tora as the newly formed beast spoke to him. The boy's head canted to the side, but in an overly creepy fashion, almost jittery in nature. But suddenly the two of them disappeared. Van's expressionless eyes stared ahead as the blue light shot towards him. He couldn't follow it, Tora was too fast. The Tiger Master cut right through him and then reappeared on the other side. Van stood in place for a moment before spouts of blood shot out from all of the small cuts all over his arms, shoulders, and face. Any part of his body where the dark ki was showing. It looked like Tora was somehow trying to free Van from the hold of the Cursed Mark. It wouldn't work, unfortunately. The only way to stop him now would be to knock him unconscious or make him spend too much ki. At that point the mark would lose its hold on the boy. Without any real warning, Van turned on his heal and unleashed a wave of ki energy that shot out in all directions. It was the latent energy that he had absorbed from the previous attacks. His body was able to store it, transform it into kinetic energy, and then unleash it. He then launched towards Tora, still sporting the huge energy talons, like gauntlets over his own hands. There were no fancy martial arts moves. He simply tried to maul the Tiger Master where he stood, attempting to rip into him without remorse or care. Tora was at a loss on how to fight against Van. This would be an amazing opportunity to train for him, as Van's style was absolutely unorthodox. The Tiger Style Master had to focus his ki considerably and expel a lot of energy to avoid the boy's caustic touch. Tora had barely avoided the redirected kinetic energy in time, as well as the combination that followed. On top of that, Van was erratic. Chaotic, even in this state. It reminded Tora of himself when he was young. If only Van could control this strength properly... Tora was worried about his ki even coming into contact with him. There was an aspect of this fight the youth couldn't allow to continue. His power was waning. Meanwhile, Van only grew stronger, sapping and borrowing Tora's bountiful energy. The martial artist grinned ferociously at Van as a spark of interest formed in him. Just who was this boy? Phasing from view, Tora engaged the boy from above. From Tora's aura several large clawed hands came down in the shape of fists, aiming to beat the boy into the ground. Tora felt it would be fruitless to try to reason with him until he showed a sign of thought. So, he just kept putting the pressure on, trying to regain his strength. Tracker Rebuke drains 5 ki! Tora
At first, Van looked puzzled as to where Tora disappeared to. However, when he reappeared above him, the boy's head jerked upwards unnaturally so he locked eyes with the Tiger Master. Several large tiger paws formed from the aura surrounding Tora and slashed downwards towards Van. Without breaking his gaze, Van shifted away leaving only a blurry visage of himself left. The tiger claws tore into the mirage, causing it to dissipate. While Tora was still in the air, Van appeared to his side. The massive claws he had created were gone, replaced with several tendrils of black ki energy. They whipped through they air, transforming into exact replicas of Tora's energy claws that he had just used against the boy. Each claw lashed out, aiming for Tora's form as he fell back towards the ground. It all happened so quickly, but felt like slow motion. However, if Tora was very perceptive, he would notice something. In the instant Van had reappeared next to him, his black eyes flashed back to green and then quickly reverted to black once more. It was all done in an instant, but enough to be noticeable. Was the boy fighting the control of the Cursed Mark or was something else going on?
