Tiger Island, Earth
The rising sun peeked through the lush greenery of Tiger Island. Playful breeze danced along the cliffs of the mighty mountains. Some animals scampered to hide in the shadows, while others were only waking up to greet the sun. Birds tweeted and squawked on their perches, only to leave screeching when something hungry got too close. True to the name, this land was full of tigers. Enormous ones. On an island where giant predators dominated the food chain, the prey had to tread very carefully. The balance of nature, as brutal as it could often be, was rarely disturbed here.
Today, however, the peaceful island had an uninvited guest. A short and frail girl sat on an old broom, slowly drifting above the jungle. Smooth mauve hair framed delicate and deathly pale features. Cold crimson eyes calmly scanned the lush greenery. Under her arm she clutched a black tome thick and ominous enough to be rightfully called a grimoire. From her belt hung a wand. If the unusual transport and belongings weren’t a dead giveaway already, her long, dark robes and matching wide-brimmed hat certainly completed the mystical image. She may have seemed a touch too young to be called wicked, but a witch she was no doubt.
Lilith brought her broom to a stop at the shore of a little lake. A small waterfall sang its relaxing song further ahead. She could appreciate the peace and quiet... But not the heat and humidity. Nor the buzzing company for that matter. With an irritated huff she wiped her brow and reached for the wand. Few arcane words and a flick of the wrist called forth a gust of icy air. It circled around her in white wisps, keeping the bloodsuckers and the heat at bay. Much better. Now then, she had work to do.
The young witch hoisted her book. Suddenly the cover flew open and the pages started fluttering, as if browsed by invisible hands. It revealed mystical texts and carefully sketched images. Ah, there it was... The fluttering stopped and her gleaming gaze focused on a particular potion recipe. Claws, teeth, eyes and guts... Yes, finding these should prove simple enough. Fortune willing, the stupid cats would try to hunt her and save her the bother of tracking them down. Hopefully she would be done by teatime. BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE. Tora had been hunting when he detected an unfamiliar- albeit small- power level enter his jungle. He was so acclimated to the energy signatures of each animal on this island that he could instantly recognize a foreign intruder in most instances. Fortunately, his own strength was suppressed to a similar level, as to not startle the wildlife it accidentally destroy something with his powerful movements. The youthful martial artist materialized in front if a small lake, near the crash site where his parents had died as a child. In fact, if one followed the waterfall the river would lead to one massive tree, still with the corpse an airship lodged in the brush. There stood a young girl, with pink hair and a bored complexion. She had some sort of a book in her hands that she seemed to be reading from- strange enough, there were no obvious forms of transportation in the immediate vicinity. Which meant she was probably a ki user of sort, or held a nifty capsule device on her. Either way, Tora wanted to have some words with this girl. He looked at her with a stern expression, genuinely intrigued. "And what exactly are you doing on my island?" He asked this with a hint of concern in his voice. This girl was rather mysterious. Her intentions could be innocent but-... the last innocent looking pink haired girl he had seen was a demon in disguise. I mean Kuueru was nice and all, but, well... Who is to say this girl wasn't actually a super powerful Demon? Call him paranoid but in this day and age you couldn't be too careful about strange young girls showing up in your rainforest jungle paradise. Besides, the ecosystem here was delicate. In the event that tigers wouldn’t simply show up... Lilith’s line of thought was cut short by someone suddenly addressing her, nay, daring to question her. She lifted a disinterested glance towards the source, finding some manner of jungle-dwelling native. His island? Oh lovely... One of those nature-loving guardian types again... How typical that she would run into one in a place that was supposed to be deserted. "If you want something from a stranger, it’s proper to introduce yourself first." Her voice chimed like a silver bell, clear and refined yet so very cold.
After a brief pause, the little lady brushed few locks behind her ear with a weary sigh. "Then again, I can’t expect a caveman to comprehend manners..." In fact, she considered it a small wonder the muscled brute could actually speak. His power felt marginally above common rabble, but nothing noteworthy. That meant he wasn’t even worth enslaving. Pity. Ah, but if he had the gall the call this his island, then he should at least know the lay of the land, no? Now that might be worth her time. If nothing else, she could use him as live bait.
The book snapped shut. Leveling an icy stare at the man, the young noble pridefully puffed her petite chest. "Listen well, savage. I am Lady Lilith Nevermore, the heir of the illustrious Nevermore clan, and my reasons for being here are frankly none of your concern." Someone of her status didn’t need to explain herself to the lower class. Holding her head high, she looked down her nose at the man. "You may now bow down and beg for your miserable life." An expectant silence was left hanging in the air. Yes, despite the blatant size difference, the haughty girl was completely serious.

Tora no Seishin couldn't help but laugh whole-heartedly at this rude, impatient little girl. She clearly did not comprehend who she was speaking to; or perhaps she was strong enough that she didn't care. In this situation, neither did Tora. She had expressed a lethal intent. If she meant harm to him, she was bad news for the island. That mean this cute little wench had to go. Tora shook his head in dissappointment, his visage darkening. "Little one, my name is Tora no Seishin- the Roaring Tiger Spirit. You would do well to remember that I bow to no man, woman, or beast. Now, I'd kindly ask you to leave here. This is no place for one such as yourself." With that, he no longer suppressed his energy. His power came roaring to life, the martial artist dropping into a loose combative stance. Had she not threatened him so boldly he may have remained at a suppressed level to keep the fight fair. But she seemed to be a twisted little thing. So, he gave her one last chance. "Leave here. Or else." he growled, his canines elongating as if to demonstrate frustration. The bestial martial artist had no patience for violent strangers, invading his jungle home. When the forest-dweller brazenly refused, the young noble rolled her eyes. How typical. "Ah, it seems you have misunderstood me..." She lowered her gaze and shook her head. "You see... I wasn’t asking." Her suppressed energy flared to full strength. Dark magic clung to her robes like sinister mist. Suddenly her eyes widened and pupils shrank into glowing pinpricks. The air around her started twisting and dancing in psychedelic colors. "Bow down." The command came crashing down like a tidal wave. Her hypnotic influence was potent enough to bring any average peasant to their knees. However, a disciplined warrior might be a different story entirely...
While the foe dealt with the mental attack, the witch uttered an incantation. "From Hell’s heart I summon thee..." Mystical sparks burned an infernal symbol to the ground at her feet. "Come forth, Fae Queen and her court, Titania." In a flash of flames, a tiny woman with long, flowing hair and glittering butterfly wings appeared. Her eyes were blank and her expression hollow. Decorated silken dress and a shining circlet denoted her regal status. In her hands she carried a golden bow, yet no quiver nor arrows. Eight floating orbs of magic manifested around her. At a glance they seemed like glowing butterflies, but a closer look revealed tiny folk with wings. Ghastly, mischievous giggling trailed in the air.
Lilith waved her hand dismissively towards the island’s guardian. "Teach this lout some manners." Right on command, the fairy queen lifted her bow and let loose a streak of pure light. This girl was a magician. He knew of their kind; weaving spells of treachery to subvert and subjugate their foe. Her hypnotic spell was of no effect on Tora. What did surprise him was her conjugation abilities- the strange fairy she had materialized had targetted his chest with an arrow of ethereal creation. A strange mist surrounded him, bubbling and churning, swirling and bursting forth from his frame. From the mist, a giant clawed paw materialized, swatting the arrow away, searing the claw as it did so. Then a massive tiger stepped out from Tora's aura, the martial artist grinning. The albino beast laughed wholeheartedly- "Tora! You've summoned me to deal with this little one, eh?" Tora grinned. "Old man, you're a bit more durable than me! Besides I don't wanna hurt her too much- she's a twisted little girl but she's still a girl, Nevermore clan or not." The albino tiger nodded, closing in to stand face to face with the small witch. "You're the rude one, child. Manners should be taught to you!" Underneath the belly of the beast Tora slid, approaching the girl rapidly with a series of strikes. They weren't slashing like he normally would utilize, they were simply fists. He aimed a few jabs at her gut, a fierce grin on his face. "Watch where you're aiming that!" he lectured as he attacked. She wasn't welcome on his island anymore. Much to Lilith’s growing frustration, the warrior resisted her influence. What manner of mental training allowed him to ignore her irresistible charm? She craned her head up at the massive beast that materialized. "A talking tiger? How quaint." Her eye twitched. The calm facade wavered. "Stop treating me like a child. Age matters not to a prodigy." She was going to make this mouthy fool and his overgrown cat regret their insolence!
Before the young lady could protest further though, the counterattack came. Too late to dodge. But... "Shifting shadows..." With the dark mutter, inky blackness instantly spread across her body. Striking it was like sinking one’s fist into tar. What should have been a critical strike, an attack heavy enough to send her tumbling, was reduced to a shallow jab. Four of the fairies twitched and vanished with a shrill scream. Streaks of magic trailed from them to the witch. Another incantation left the pale lips. "Fall into the black sea, sink and suffocate..." She swept her hands upwards. "True Dark." The shadows covering her body suddenly burst forth as slithering tendrils. They aimed to wrap around the man, trying to blind and strangle him.
While the foe dealt with the distraction, Lilith slipped a hand into her sleeve and dug out a small crystal orb. Caressing the surface gently, she peered deep into it. Ah, so that’s how it would go... "I have seen your future... You’re awfully predictable, aren’t you?" She raised her hand towards the man. "Soul Siphon." The air twisted into a flickering vortex, tugging at his very life energy. If he stayed too long in it, he might find his stamina waning and his soul burning away. As an inky black conjuration shielded the girl from the majority of Tora's assault, a few of the girls summoned- or, enslaved, apparently- creatures defeated from his attack. Black tendrils reached out and choked at Tora, covering his eyes- blinding him. He stumbled back for a second, before regaining his composure. Tora no Seishin was a beast at heart; If he couldn't see his foe, he could sense them. If he couldn't sense them-... He could smell them. In this instance Tora could do both. He was effectively tracking her scent as well as her power signature. Another round of spellweaving followed, and Tora managed to avoid some sort of attack that he couldn't precisely make out. He could just detect the shift in the air as something opened up- what it was he struggled to identify. It seemed dangerous, however, and he would do his best to avoid it. However, the real problem for him lied in the little fairy with a bow- Just as he had dodged she buried a shot into his shoulder. He managed to prevent serious damage by focusing his ki into his muscles, hardening them as the bolt struck. But her point had been made. She didn't feel strong, but it didn't seem to matter. This girl was no amateur in spellweaving. And perhaps her power didn't lie in the physical realm. She had used the phrase 'True Dark' to blind him. 'Soul Siphon' to strike him- more than likely in more sense than one. He imagined her spells in his head, trying to picture how long she had taken between saying the words, and the spells coming into action. He still couldn't quite get a reading on it. She had made this one difficult by blinding him. Tora would have to demonstrate some tenacity and ingenuity for this fight. He didn't wanna go all out while he was blinded- he could seriously damage some of the landscape here. That wasn't his style. No, Tora wanted to get up close and personal. It was about time, anyways; He phased from view, appearing in front of the girl once again, ki focused at his fingertips. Tora unleashed a series of slashing strikes towards the girl, hoping to end this fight quickly. If she had managed to blind him, he didn't want to see what else was in store. Good thing she had blinded him. The first slash was aimed at her belly, the second at her left shoulder. A final slash was aimed directly for her right arm. He didn't want to totally eviscerate her- just a few cuts and some heavy duty kinetic energy. These would, hopefully, send the girl flying. When the foe closed the distance in less than a blink, Lilith’s eyes widened. So effortlessly he rendered Soul Siphon useless. How troublesome. However... She was ready. With flowing motions resembling ballroom dance, she deftly weaved between the slashes. "Futile..." Not a single one hit her head-on, though some did cut dangerously close. Still, losing few strands of hair and some scraps of her robes were a small price to pay. By the end of the little dance, her smug tones chimed in the air. "Just as I foresaw." She was absolutely confident that his attacks could no longer reach her. It was simply impossible.
The young witch aimed a hand at the warrior. She wasn’t sure how he tracked her so well while blind, but she had a theory... An ominous incantation left her lips. "Suffer the pains of conquest, famine and pestilence as thy body withers away..." Magic swirled around her digits. Yellow, blue and violet blending together... "Black Death." A blast of foul energy erupted around the man like noxious gas. The curse assaulted his body, especially his nose. As insult to injury, the Fairy Queen shot yet another arrow at his back.
While the enemy dealt with the distractions, the young noble took a deep breath. Casting so many spells in quick succession was no easy task. Fortunately her reserves had deepened lately, an undeniable proof of her growth and maturity. Even if some disrespectful individuals had the nerve to imply otherwise... With her mana replenished, she grasped her wand and spoke another spell. "I call forth the malice of Mother Earth..." Green bolts crackled into the surrounding plants. "Vine Hex." Tora leapt out of range of the magical miasma just in time, however an arrow rocketed through the poison mist and struck Tora in his abdomen. Blood spewed from the wound, but it was nonlethal. On top of that, the ki he had focused throughout his body had hardened his muscles to a point of allowing him to limit blood flow to wounded areas. It would take more than a few stray energy arrows to end this fight. Tendrils of mana infused foliage erupted towards Tora and his master, the pair evading the plant based attack with relative ease. Somehow Tora managed to do all of this while blinded, relying on his other senses to move. It was challenging, but stimulating. This was turning out to be some good training. With a flash of motion Tora phased from view, materializing directly behind the girl. He aimed a devastating left jab at her back, followed by a right hook. If he managed to knock her back, he'd close in to her energy signature and unleash a barrage of strikes to the same spots he had just hit. His blue misty aura bubbled and churned around him, swirling with power. This rude little girl was in for an even ruder awakening. This was Tora's island, after all. "We can end this whenever you want" he said, cheerfully. Despite his blinded state and her aggression he didn't wanna hurt her too bad. She was a little thing after all- he also had faith that people can change. Maybe she won't be all bad forever. Then again, she did invade his island and threaten him... Man, girls can be violent. Oh well. "Just say the word and I'll let you leave!" He meant it, too. Tora was a nice guy, after all. He didn't wanna hurt anybody. Not today, at least. Stunned by disbelief, Lilith was too slow to avoid the strikes to her back. They blasted right through her defenses. She was sent tumbling against the ground like a rag doll. Just before the man could finish her off, however, she managed to mumble the magic words. "Witch Step." Her body blurred, carried several paces by an unseen force. She narrowly avoided the jaws of defeat yet again.
Or so the little mouse thought...
Gasping for air, the weakened witch struggled to get back on her feet. "I..." A meek cough interrupted her. "...knew you’d do that..." Not the most convincing claim when spoken by someone inches away from passing out. The exhaustion was affecting her summoned servants as well. While the Fairy Queen kept firing arrows one after another, their accuracy and strength was faltering. The fairies weren’t giggling anymore...
In this situation, retreating would have been the most sensible option. Healing the wounds would have been the second best... Unfortunately such thoughts were silenced by unyielding pride. "Damnable brute..." Trembling with barely contained fury, the young noble glared at the jungle warrior. The crimson eyes glistened and the chiming voice wavered. "Don’t you dare patronize me. The heir of the Nevermore clan shall never surrender to a mere peasant." No, she was not crying! A ridiculous claim... She was simply tired. Sick and tired of being treated like a child. Nothing more.
Taking a deep breath, Lilith gathered her focus. "Suffer the pains of conquest, famine and pestilence as thy body withers away..." Her voice took an echo from the depths of the forest, as if she had spoken the spell twice. Foil magic flared in her hands and she swept them upwards. "Greater Black Death." A massive explosion of toxic miasma threatened to swallow the man. The cloud took form of an enormous mushroom as it rose towards the sky. Plants withered and died. The Tiger of Earth frowned as the girl unleashed a terrible miasma once more, after a particularly intense fit. The miasma had begun eating away at the vegetation and life, and would've afflicted Tora had he not taken a precaution. His misty aura formed around him as he focused his energy, filtering the toxins out if the air around him. He wished he could have used the mist to save all the life around him. Now he was disappointed in the girl. She had a lot of power- but she seemed to use it to enslave others and cause harm. This would have to stop. Still blinded, he closed the gap between them once more as another arrow struck him. Despite his wound he managed to unleash another flurry of strikes towards the girl- he held back enough as to prevent himself from killing her, but he aimed to render her unconscious. "You're better than this! You're strong- why are you going around causing so much trouble?" he would ask her in between attacks. He was genuinely curious. Tora no Seishin couldn't see why such a young girl would use such dark and twisted magic. The worst part about it, she was only a fledgling. Tora had seen demonic magic at work. Her skills were impressive, yes, but the fearsome truth was she wasn't all that special. She had work to do if she wanted to be 'terrible'. "A small fry like you should do nice things instead of act with cruelty!" He lectured just as he delivered the final blow in his combo, a punch to her gut. The youthful martial artist was sad to see such a young girl acting so... Evil. A wise man once said that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer... Lilith, unfortunately, exemplified the sentiment. In her haste to prove her power, she failed to protect herself. Thus the attacks landed heavily, relentlessly, mercilessly. Tora may have been holding back, but the final strike of his combo struck the girl so hard that she coughed up blood. She was sent tumbling backwards until she hit a tree with an agonizing crack. Something broke. Unfortunately his virtuous words fell to deaf ears. The seeds of truth she could have picked up were burned to ashes by her burning frustration. If anything, this painful fate only fueled her hate...
Battered and bruised, the small witch finally collapsed. She hit the dirt with the softest thud. Her malicious magics faded alongside her consciousness. The murky mass blinding the man was the first to go. It melted off and evaporated back into regular shadows. Then the tiny fairies vanished with a shrill scream, like tiny candles snuffed out. Lastly, an infernal portal opened beneath the Fairy Queen. It pulled her back into whatever twisted place she had come from, but before she went she offered the young man a gentle, thankful smile. Only silence remained.
Lights out...

Tora cringed as the young girl fell to the earth, almost feeling guilt. The fairy that had been bent to her will had flashed him a smile of thanks as the girl was disposed of. Tora felt unsure of what to do. She was a threat, after all. And now she wouldn't be too fond of him. Still-... she was just a girl.
She had time to grow and learn and change. Maybe if Tora showed her some kindness, she'd return the favor. He scooped the girl up and made his way back home with impressive speed, entering his dojo with a soft sigh. He was always too nice to these evil folks.
Tora made her up a bed on a little cot he had in a side room, setting the young girl down gently and grinning. For an evil little witch she was awfully innocent looking while she slept. Tora produced a few fresh looking fruit from his room and put them by her bed side, exiting the side room to enter the main hall of his dojo.
It was there he sat in a meditative stance, thinking on the day and its events. Strangers kept coming and going from his little island home- it was out of his control. He just hoped he could keep protecting it so well.
"If only that little girl wasn't so mean, I'd offer her a few tips on how to fight better... magic is a nifty little trick, I wouldn't mind learning some!" he said aloud, laughing. Then he proceeded to begin his training, visualizing himself fighting against an unseen foe in his mental landscape.
Fighting blind had left him a new perspective to analyze.

While the guardian of the jungle picked up the wounded witch, something stirred in the vegetation. As he vanished from the trampled field, a wooden broom caaarefully peeked from the nearby bush. The straws snatched the dropped wand from the ground. Chained to its mistress by unseen forces, it darted after the man just as fast. Like some manner of ninja, it soundless stalked behind the man and followed him all the way into the quiet side room. Once he left and dropped his guard, the odd transport approached the lifeless lady. Circling around, once and twice, it finally settled down to her side.
The little lady twitched weakly. Suddenly the crimson eyes flashed open and a startled gasp fled her lips. She had been shaken awake by that same nightmare from years ago... The pain, however, was all too real. Oh, moving made it even worse. Lovely. She tried to prop herself up, even slightly, and glance around. Her barely open eyes stopped on the fresh fruit by her bed. The sharp teeth gritted together with flaring fury. Either the brute had taken pity on her, or was treating her like a pet. She wasn’t sure which possibility would be more humiliating...
And frankly she didn’t want to find out.
Lilith gathered her focus, as well as every last drop of mana she had left. Her strained voice barely managed to whisper the incantation. "Oh spirits of ages past... open a path to my hidden home... Take me where hunters won’t know to follow..." Swirling portal opened in the air, revealing a spooky forest on the other side. The broom zipped beneath the girl and quickly carried her through. With a crackle and a sputter, the weak gate collapsed, leaving no trace of the escape. So the little mouse fled back into her hidey-hole, to nurse her wounds and pride
But that would be a story for another time...
