How long had it been since he last took a break? Nowhere seemed suitable for camping, not that he’d sleep anyways. The voice kept him up most of the time, only allowing a few feverish dreams at a time. The once well groomed knight now sported quite a bit of stubble, along with unkempt hair and sleep deprived, dull eyes. Even his steed seemed affected by this lack of rest. It’s gold visage now dulled to a slightly shimmering yellow. “You know this isn’t my fault, right? I’m not the one forcing you to have these thoughts and dreams. I’m just the only one who can stop them. Would you look at yourself? You look more like a beggar than a nobleman and knight. You aren’t even smart enough to sense those power levels up ahead. Not that you’d know what they are anyways. Just give up and go to sleep. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of you while your gone” The voice seemed so reasonable when not insulting the knight profusely. He didn’t care about his appearance right now, nor whether anyone thought him noble or heroic. Because he knew deep down keeping this thing chained up was the truly heroic thing to do. The knight took notice of a small island along the sprawling oceans. It was small, perhaps about as big as a decent village. Whatever these “Power Levels” the voice spoke of, perhaps they could help him refresh himself. The voice began laughing as Gallius began flying towards the island. “Ooo, did I pique your interest?” In all honesty the voice had hoped for Gallius to take the bait. On the island resided two very familiar power levels. One of which ruined a fun fight he had with that Frost Demon. He had never gained such a foothold over the knight since then, and it angered the voice to no extent. It was time for revenge. As for the other one… Well, Gallius could at least see one of his “Friends” before losing control. The voice found it funny how easily the knight took to calling such manipulators “Friends”, but if it meant getting on the knights good side, how could it refuse? Gallius landed on the shore of the island, dissapating his steed and walking a few steps before pausing. “If thar be anyun on thys Iland, show yerself now!” Word Count: 398 @amatricina Zerori

The last thing Amatricina had expected to appear on her humble island getaway was a half demon woman who had inadvertently summoned her to the Mortal Realm once over a decade prior. But, when life gave you soldiers, you make an army. At least that was her father had always told her anyways. The reunion between the demoness Amatricina and the half demon Zerori had been perhaps the only positive thing to happen to the demoness in the last week or so she'd spent on this misbegotten planet. Her other ventures had been met with failure or disappointment. The sun hung high in the sky, and the demoness had completed her morning meditations... plus one this time. Zerori needed significant training if she was ever going to truly hone her abilities. The Saiyan in her gave her a fiery temper, even by demonic standards. Amatricina believed she could temper that fire, and forge it into something deadlier given Zerori had the desire to apply her tutelage. At present the duo were sitting in a large clearing, not far from the base of the active volcano that stood vigil over the island's eastern half. One of the great native beasts had thought it wise to attack the duo not long after they had finished their training. It was a mighty reptilian brute of a creature, standing as tall as one of the trees and possessing a huge mouth filled with dagger like teeth. It stood upright, with two small front limbs and thick powerful legs balanced by a long tail. Amatricina rather admired the beasts, they were the apex predators of the isle, killing and eating whatever they wished. Except for today that is, today this tyrant lizard had bitten off more than it could chew. Tired from her training and ravenously hungry, Amatricina had been in no mood for the predator's games. When it let out a mighty roar and charged the two demons, she had quickly dispatched it with a blast of eye lasers to its brain. Instantly killed by the fiery lobotomy the creature had fallen to the ground in a heap, and Amatricina had made Zerori haul its huge back to camp on her shoulders as a "strength building exercise." The reality was the reptilian beasts smelled rather foul up close, and Amatricina deigned to drag it through the jungle herself. The beast's carcass now sat at the far end of Zerori's encampment, strategically placed downwind of them. Although Amatricina was more than content to sleep in the molten depths of the volcano itself prior to the girl's arrival, young Zerori required more... conventional living arrangements. Nevertheless, the two sat around a large campfire slow roasting huge steaks of meat carved from the slain beast's tail sections. The meat was rather tough in comparison to some of the smaller, furrier forest creatures, but it tasted remarkably similar to chicken. Chickens being the only earth creature who's name Amatricina had actually taken the time to learn. The duo ate with little refinement or sophistication, given their primitive abode and total lack of silverware or furnishings. Amatricina herself letting the sin of gluttony get the best of her for once, tore off mouthfuls of meat and barely stopped to chew. She paused suddenly, letting out a low groan as she chewed a massive drumstick slowly. She sensed something, approaching rapidly from the distance. It was the second time an unexpected power level had been headed straight towards her island retreat. Was there something about this place she didn't know? Or was fate truly this unkind to her this day? She took another bite, still chewing slowly as she hoped the power level would move on, but it only drew nearer. The felt as if it had landed on the edge of the island, powering down slightly as it ceased flying. It was no Saiyan, it was no Earthling, and it certainly was no Demon. The only being Amatricina had ever felt with ki quite like that was a knight of fire, supposedly the last of his kind, blessed by his flame god with a holy quest that sent him across the universe smiting the wicked. Amatricina sighed, her gaze turning to the direction the energy was coming from as she swallowed her bite and contemplated setting the drumstick down to go investigate. "I sense something Zerori." The demoness said simply, before deciding to take another bite of her meal. "Tell me you feel it too..." She added dryly, hoping perhaps her mind was simply playing tricks on her.

The days events, leading up to the evening where she could relax, had exhausted her to no end. It wasn’t impossible tasks that had her push through her limitations, but menial tasks with minor difficulty that stretched the limits of her patience. That was something she had in very little supply these days, but… given her track record of luck and foolish decision-making skills, if she didn’t seek guidance then death was the only end she could foresee in her future. And it didn’t take an idiot to realize that Amatricina was more than qualified enough to beat some sense into her. Too bad that she took that a little too literally. Zerori had been in the middle of a bite of a large thigh, enjoying the flavor and texture. She’d paused in mid-bite when her mentor seemed to become distracted. As she waited for Amatricina to make a move or say something, Zerori contemplated that this might have been some sort of test. Moments later, the question as to whether she could sense what Amatricina could was asked. The hybrid pouted, licking her lips before she closed her eyes to concentrate. The meditation that she had been doing with the Demon was still a great work in progress; Zerori had never meditated before and so she’d never felt the sensations of energy whispering along her mind’s eye. For a few moments, Zerori said nothing before she growled low in her throat and opened her eyes. “No…” She raised her head, quickly scenting the air to try and pick up on what the Demon sensed. Their location before downwind prevented her from being able to scent him either and she looked to Amatricina. “Can’t smell ‘em either. Let’s just check it out! If they’re an issue we can take care of it, yeah?” She had come to trust Amatricina’s decisions since meeting her again on the island. Zerori stood, wiping the vestiges of meat off her face, “Are they close?” She questioned, the hair on the back of her neck standing on end at the prospect of a fight. Words: 350 Andrew C. The knight trudged towards the Palm tree forest. His feet felt like iron weights. Gallius unclipped his helmet’s bindings and attached it to his side. His drowsy eyes scoured the forest line before entering. A dull yellow sword cut through the brush, until eventually coming almost face to face with a devilish looking woman. He would quickly hop back and raise the sword to protect himself. Tired or not, sword fighting was embedded into his very muscles. It would take a little more than sleep deprivation to take that away. He quickly eyed the female and her surroundings before stopping suddenly. A grin drew across his face as he saw an old friend, Amatricia. He would dissipate the sword quickly and hold a hand up to the other female. “I apologise fer that, me instincts kikd in. It hath been a long tyme Amatricia, it be gud to no a frend is among the rabbel of thys planet” “That female is the one, Gallius. The one who helped free me. You should kill her. Or at least maim her some for ruining my battle” Gallius winced and held his head, muttering something under his breath. “Forgif me, me mynd tis hurten a byt”

Amatricina raised an eyebrow questioningly when Zerori gruffly replied no. "You're surely joking with me, right?" The demoness muttered, rubbing a hand along the bridge of her nose as she let out an irritated sigh. "My father had my siblings and I flying almost from the day we could walk, my mother had us sensing ki from the day we could finish a complete sentence. I am appalled by the upbringing your parents gave you." The elder demon had no small list of grievances with the young half demon woman, but she had tempered both her anger and her expectations. Zerori was a bright pupil, albeit lacking a great deal of even fundamental knowledge in ki usage. Amatricina needed to her remind herself that not every demon held the luxury of tutelage studying under a demon warlord and his bride. The woman rose to her feet, contemplating donning her mortal guise again. She decided against it, she knew well this power level. She had grown intimately familiar with it during their last chance encounter. Amatricina gave a soft smile and scoffed slightly when Zerori asked if they could handle their visitor. "Well, if you can't smell it. I am either hallucinating, or your sense of smell is dulled by grilled meat." She tilted her head to gesture towards their cook fire. At least they were upwind of the corpse of the slain jungle predator. "Regardless, this is not a foe, so we need not trouble ourselves. Unless something has changed since we last met, in which case I should be more than capable of handling him." Amatricina took one last bite of her drumstick, before casting it aside for the scavengers to claim. "He's not far, and getting closer... Now keep up."With that instruction Amatricina took off, bolting through the forest on her feet more graceful and agile than earth creature could manage. There was no need to fly such a brief distance, and she was still suppressing her demonic ki, even if she was no longer in her mortal guise. Moreover... Zerori had already admitted she was unable to fly with her own ki, and Amatricina deigned to let the girl wander too far from her sight. She had a lingering soft spot for half demons, even if they tarnished their demonic blood with that of mortals. The pair moved swiftly through the jungle underbrush, until Amatricina stopped on a dime. She placed a hand on her wide hip and waited as the exhausted knight almost walked right into her. She could sense his fatigue from a mile away, but it was more pathetic to see up close and in person. Amatricina blew a kiss as the knight hopped back in alarm, a literal heart of smoke wafting through the air as it passed her full lips. "Sir Gallius." She said with a hint of agitation. "If I was a foe you'd be dead twice over by now." The demoness shook her head at the sight of the knight. When they had met before he had been gallant, confident and devoted to his strange selfless cause. But now, he looked disheveled, beaten, and utterly exhausted. He was barely fit to stand much less to fight. "You look terrible, and the fire in your heart is dimmer than when we first met. Explain yourself." She spoke in a harsh no nonsense tone. It was problematic enough she'd taken the half demon under her wing, she couldn't afford the Knight of Manus dragging her down too. The demon tilted her head slightly, ears perking as she heard Zerori moving through the last of the underbrush and coming to a stop not far behind her. "Ah... Zerori, that took you long enough to catch up. You're sluggish after you eat, we will need work on that later." Her tone changed to that of a mother berating her child. She sounded like her own mother, the late Lady Bonara. The thought sent a small chill down the demoness' spine, she truly had grown up to be just like her mother. "Sir Nickel Gallius, this is Zerori. She is a half-demon, and an old acquaintance." Amatricina raised an eyebrow, as if unsure of her own words as she spoke them. "And for the moment at least, she's something of my pupil."

To say that Zerori was embarrassed by the reaction she got from Amatricina was a bit of an understatement, evidenced by the deep flush that dusted her cheeks as she endured the explicit criticism from the greater demon. At the mention of her inability to smell the arrival’s scent, Zerori looked down at her food and pouted at it – as if it were to blame and not her own capability. Instead of wasting it, she scarfed it down and swallowed before throwing the stick away that it was cooked on. When it was mentioned that it wasn’t a foe, the hybrid deflated visibly with a disappointed expression before following, “Ugh, fine.”Taking off after Amatricina, Zerori used the strong limbs, trunks and vines to keep up with little trouble. Speed wasn’t really an issue for her, as it was maneuverability and already Zerori was nearly falling behind. She ground her teeth, pushing herself to pounce off the trees with more force – finally catching until- “GYAAH!” Amatricina could stop near instantly. Zerori… not so much. At the sudden halt of their movement, the hybrid’s footing was lost as she lost sight of her mentor, resulting in an equally embarrassing fumble through the branches and bushed before landing between Amatricina and a familiar scent. Dirty, bedraggled and in bad shape, Zerori would only raise a hand from her prone form on the ground and bid the knight a deadpanned greeting, “Hey. Don’t mind me, Golden Guy; just ‘dropping’ by,” She grinned, before she looked back at Amatricina with a huff. “Tch, I’m not slow…”With a grunt, Zerori kicked her body back up onto her feet, “We’ve met, though it was under very strained circumstances. Hey, about that-” She turned to Gallius, head tilted curiously, “How did you shred through that ship in space?” At the mention of his headache, Zerori’s expression fell before she turned around with a dismissive wave. “Eh, don’t worry about it then.” Facing away from Gallius, Zerori walked over to a large boulder in the ground and sat on it. She would wait for their conversation to come to an end. She didn't hold any ill-will towards the Knight, though she wasn't sure that he felt the same. The chaos at Kamui's ship made it impossible to tell what all had happened and whom was responsible. Words: 398 Andrew C. Creed

Gallius grinned slightly as the woman asked about him carving through Kamui’s ship. In all honesty he was just glad she didn’t insult or try fighting him. “Twas sympel m’lady,” He would summon a dull yellow blade. “Thys swerd, er anythyng Manus grants me, can cut anythyng. Twas littel more then slashen the armor”
“They’d definitely cut her. You should do that”
Gallius sighed and closed his eyes. “As fer wat be wrong wit me, Amatricia, tis a curs of the mynd. A daemon haunts me thots, constently mocken n tempten me wit syn”
“Aw, you mentioned me”
“Even now it speaks. I haf held out fer a week, but it styll won ceese. Sleep eludes me, fer only nytemares awayt. Tho I promyse on me onor, I shalt keep thys beest at bay even if it meens me deth”
“Heh. You assume you’ll manage to stay awake long enough to die? No no, Gallius. I’m not going to let you die. You’re never going to die. Not while I’m around and sharing this head of yours”
The knight crossed his arms, looking down and scowling at the voice. “But enuff aboot me, wat haf ye all been up to?” He would turn to Zerori and give her a stern look. “Not killen, I hope”
“Oh she’s defienetly killed again. I can tell, she’s got that look in her eye. You should stop her before it’s too late”

"The girl has been with me." Amatricina said curtly, studying the knight as he spoke. He was wrong, as he often was, about whatever plagued his thoughts. He assumed that was the word he meant, she still struggled with his strange manner of speaking at times. The demoness felt at the knight's soul, what had once been a brilliant shining soul with only the faintest tinge of shadow was now mired in an inky black darkness. It oozed forth like puss from a wound, trying to smother out the light. She licked her lips at the prospect, exhaling slowly as two small jets of black smoke plumed from her nostrils. Amatricina liked what she had seen. "Sir..." She added simply, pulling herself in close and practically wrapping her voluptuous form around the knight, a taloned finger lifting his chin as she looked him in the eyes. "There is no demon haunting your mind, besides me of course. But you enjoy that don't you?" She let out an airy giggle, her words dripping like venom with the sin of lust. "The little voice in your head, is you. Every flame casts a shadow Gallius, no matter how bright it burns. It is like I said before, you and I are two sides of the same coin. Such is the nature of the flame." The demoness slipped past the knight, bumping him playfully with a wide hip as she sashayed back to stand at the half demon girl's side. Much as she loved tempting mortals, Amatricina favored an actual half-demon with demonic blood in her veins to a mortal plagued only by his own inner demons.
