Having saved Sura village on two separate occasions once from an evil witch who threatened to destroy the village’s sacred shrine and having saved a group of ill villagers after retrieving medicine from a group of evil Saiyan’s. Asuka has made come to see Sura Village something of an adopted home, and the people have been anything but shy in their generosity towards her, from nursing her back to health after falling ill in her battles with said witch or even granting her an old dojo as a place of residence with the promise of renovations for her in the near future. And while Asuka herself is grateful for all that the villagers have done for her she often feels as though she is undeserving and is uncertain as to how to handle all of the attention. However…clearly the villagers did not get the message. “Champion, awaken. It is time for your festival!” Asuka sees the light from the outside bleed into her dojo and she opens her eyes to see the maidens holding an elaborate kimono before her. Two more children then appear with white and red brushes. “A makeover for the champion!” Asuka seems a bit confused as she rubs her eyes seeing the duo. “Uhh…makeover…?” After some time, Asuka was dressed in a bright red robe, and her face painted and adorned in white make-up with red lipstick. When Asuka saw herself she blushed. “Me in makeup…?” Asuka had never seen herself in such a gaudy fashion and so she seemed rather surprised. “You look lovely Champion and on this day of celebration we are at your beck and call.” Says maiden Izumi. “But…” Asuka is then grabbed by the two young children and she is then taken toward a large red and gold Palaquin where she is parade through the streets waving to the many villagers as she passes them by after some time she is then escorted up a short flight of stairs and is placed onto a throne looking very unnerved by all of the attention. “Uhh…I’d really rather…” “HAIL THE CHAMPION!” cry the villagers as fireworks are set off and festive music is played, it was at this moment that the situation begins to set in for the young woman as she looks out and sees groups of individuals dressed in similar festive garb to hers playing a wide variety of instruments and eating a myriad of different foods as Asuka looks on from her throne in the center of it all. “Everyone please, this is rather…excessive I appreciate it but…” As she says this, a young man in a blue hakama presents her a box of food presented in a neatly put together bento box. “Champion, please accept our humble gift.” Asuka looks to one of the shrine maidens. Who nods for her to take it. “Asuka graciously smiles and takes the gift. “Much appreciated, sir.” He kneels at her feet and as he does so Asuka takes a look out to notice that a line had formed. Asuka seems rather taken aback and looks out at the line of gift giving villagers in front of her. “How long does it go on for.” Asuka sits on her throne, and after a receiving the large stockpile of gifts from the villagers. She stops to take a moment to reflect. “I should be training.” Asuka thought to herself as she looked out at the village festivities. However, after a moment, one of her attending Shrine maidens looks to her and notices a scowl forming on Asuka’s face on her face. “Champion…? Why do you frown?” Asuka is caught off guard by the question and now sees the maiden looking her directly in the eyes, “My apologies Izumi…I…I’m just tired is all.” Asuka sheepishly smiles. “Well, Champion If there is anything we can do to make your special day more comfortable please let us know.” In fact allow me to fetch you a meal!” Asuka tries to say something but by then Izumi had already left. She sighs and then looks out at the festival once more placing her hand against her cheek and as she watches the festivities a smile cracks on her face. “Maybe, I should learn to appreciate the villagers more, I am their champion after all.” Asuka, smiles to herself. Even beginning to rhythmically clap to the beat of the drums enjoying the parade. But as she’s distracted by the festivities in front of her, she fails to notice the rain clouds building above her head. An ominous precursor of what is to come. (776 words.)

High above the cheer and celebration, a shady figure floated in the sky. Hateful crimson eyes glared down at the colorful commotion. They pranced about like overly excited dogs. How disgusting. Worse yet, they seemed to be praising some sort of a champion, a girl who defeated a witch. Their voices reached even up here, so loudly and proudly they declared their victory. Lilith had come back to merely fetch her belongings, specifically her basket full of rare mushrooms that had been abandoned during her hasty departure. Such had been the original plan at least. But seeing the peasants so merry, so foolishly carefree had awakened something within her. Something delightfully vengeful...
The young witch gathered her focus and lifted her hand towards the sky. Streaks of mana circled around her like a small whirlwind as she spoke an ominous incantation. "Gather, clouds. I command thee to bring forth endless rain and merciless lightning. May the winds howl, may the earth drown, may the sun itself suffocate behind the dark veil." With a deep rumble the heavens obeyed her magical call. Sinister energies painted the drifting clouds pitch black and summoned even more of their kin from thin air, slowly dragging a gloomy blanket over the village below. The cold wind whispered a warning of an approaching storm.
While the hourglass was still running, the wicked lady headed downwards on her broom, floating just above the rooftops. Forces of nature were not swayed in mere seconds, you see. So she might as well find herself a good place to observe as the ants drowned. And who knows, they might even have some hope. If they all threw themselves at her feet and begged for forgiveness with all their heart, maybe she would find a trace of mercy in her soul. ...Hm, most likely not. But it was an entertaining thought.
Finding the so-called champion was hardly a challenge. There was only one source of power in the whole village and it was far too familiar. Lilith stopped to float behind the grand throne, looming like a twisted shadow. Her eyes started glowing blue and though her lips didn’t move, her words would creep into the champion’s ear. "My, what a lovely little event we have here..." It was a chillingly calm echo without a direction, a voice spoken directly into Asuka’s mind. "How unfortunate that I never received my invitation." Even through the mental link, sarcasm dripped in her cold tone. Words: 414 Hanzo Medjikara

Whilst enjoying the festivities, and watching her people honor her Asuka hears the crackle of thunder and looks to the skies as storm clouds form casting a shadow upon the villagers below. Asuka got a bad feeling and shot a look to Maiden Izumi who immediately rushed to Asuka's side. "Maiden Izumi, that storm seems like it'll be a problem perhaps we should cancel the festival." she whispered to her companion. "Perhaps you are right I will address the people" Maiden Izumi then walks before the crowd of people and raises her hand in order to garner their attention. "People of Sura Village thought our Champion has been enjoying the festivities. Out of concern for the village she has requested that our festivities be postponed indefinitely, please return to your homes and remain safe." Izumi then turns and looks to Asuka. "Hail champion Asuka!" the people too then bow toward her. "Hail champion Asuka!" Afterward, the people begin to disperse Izumi then watches them leave and pack up their belongings, turning back towards Asuka in order to pay her respects with a bow. "It is done Champion." I'll see to it that a group of militiamen keep watch on your palanquin and we make our way back to your home." Asuka smiles. "Thank you, Izumi, I swear you treat me like a queen." she giggles.
"Of cour--" Before Izumi could finish her response an uneasy feeling overcomes her as she feels a tug on the prayer beads she wears around her wrist the jewelry jerking in Asuka's direction her eyes grow suspiscious as she looks to Asuka "Champion, can you feel that?" Asuka realizing something was amiss shuts her eyes in order to hone in the source of the disturbance referenced by her companion "I can actually." Asuka says concurring with the shrine maiden. "The witch has returned..." suddenly she would hear a voice behind penetrate her thoughts. Asuka would then grit her teeth in frustration but then calm herself. "I see you have gotten stronger, but are still nothing more than a coward. Whatever spell you conjure isn't anything I can't handle." Asuka stands from her throne and looks to Izumi realizing that the tug on her prayer beads is causing them to point away from her and towards the throne. "Now show yourself." Asuka holds out an arm in order to keep Izumi safe. Her body swelling with a white Aura of Ki, the champion was ready for anything.

Lilith’s eye twitched at the insulting response. Impudent as usual, it seemed. Her good humor was quickly running out. However, a deep breath of the cold air spread a cooling calm through her soul. No, this time she wouldn’t lose her composure. That had cost her the victory the last time. She learned from every single mistake. The telekinetic voice responded with an icy echo. "A dog can bark all it likes, but at the end of the day it will always remain a dog." Yes, that was all she needed to remember. She was above all these worthless mongrels by power and birthright. They would regret disrespecting her.
Like a raven leaving its nest, the looming shadow suddenly burst out of hiding and soared to the sky. The devious witch had no need and no intention to engage the hero in combat. She stopped to hover above the rooftops, in clear view but far beyond jumping distance. And thrown rocks, hopefully... Just the memory made her shudder... Directing her gaze downwards, she took a moment to appreciate how the peasants were fleeing for their homes. They were just like ants in so many ways. Mindless, worthless... Destined to drown in their nests.
Seeing Asuka, however, gave Lilith a puzzled pause. She blinked, once and twice, slowly looking over the decorated hero. "Oh...?" Her lips twisted into a devilish sneer and a hand reflexively rose to cover her mouth. A chime of mocking laughter rose into the air, followed by a breathless voice carried by the winds. "O~hohoho~ That... Now that is just utterly ridiculous... Who made you wear that awfully gaudy look...?" She had come here expecting to find a shrine maiden and instead encountered a fully painted clown. How very fitting.
Soon enough the lady regained her cold composure and cleared her throat. "Hello, Asuka Atsuki." Manners came first and foremost, even among enemies. Unlike them, she was not an uneducated savage. "How have you been?" As the first drops of rain began falling, she flicked her wand to full length and held it much like one would carry an umbrella. A translucent barrier formed above her head to keep her dry. She actually gave the girl ample chance to respond before continuing. "As for myself, well, I have been rather busy mending my wounds... You know..." Her glare sharpened and tone darkened. "After you tried to murder me." Oh yes, she was definitely holding a grudge. Just a tiny one... Words: 416 [Total = 830] Hanzo Medjikara

Upon watching the dark shadow twist and turn in the ground to eventually form into the visage of Lilith, Asuka crossed her arms. "As I suspected..." seeing the return of the woman who tried so hard to defeat her made her overcome with a quiet rage, Asuka had no tolerance for villainy and locked a gaze with her as the drops of rain began to fall from the sky. "Our people were simply reveling in your defeat all was well before you came along to rain on our parade. I'm assuming the storm was your doing?" Izumi looked out towards the witch the prayer beads on her arm nearly snapping from her wrist. "Wicked witch, leave us be lest ye be struck down by our champion once more!" Izumi proudly proclaimed. However, upon inspection, something was off, while Lilith's words contained a degree of venom in her tone, why did she not strike Asuka down? Had she not come looking for a fight?
Either way Asuka proceeded to justify her actions when last they fought not as if she cared what Lilith thought of them either way "I only attempted to kill you, because you dared to bring harm to the shrine of this village--" but before Asuka could finish she noticed Lilith's crude response to her formal wear. Asuka looked down at her attire, somewhat self-conscious. "Uhh..." Izumi then looked to Asuka. "Fret not, Champion the look does your beauty justice." The maiden replies sincerely. Asuka attempted to hide a blush, which is unusual as she is not one to get hung up on appearances and did her best to maintain her composure, even if she was slightly embarrassed that she let Lilith's low-brow comment get to her. Even still, she took the time to thank Izumi for her kind words "Thank you, Izumi." Only to quickly return a gaze of defiance towards her foe.
"Lilith, I don't care why you've come here...but if you do not depart I will be forced to expel you...I will only give you one warning." Izumi who keeps a close eye on the witches movements looks out to Lilith seeing the glimmer of a force field. "Champion...look..." Asuka squints her eyes and notices that the few drops of rain seem to slide down the very spot where Lilith floats as if something was protecting the witch "A barrier...?" She thinks to herself. Asuka begins to suspect trouble suddenly the rain begins to increase even further with Asuka glaring out at her foe. Izumi then began to notice the water levels in the city rising, she steps back towards the Champion."Champion Asuka, what do we do..!?" Asuka then surrounds her body in a white Barrier of Ki and then looks to Izumi. "Izumi get to the shrine, it's the highest point in the village, the Kai will protect you. Warn as many villagers as you can. But don't stop running"
Izumi nods her head, most individuals would be fearful in such a situation but with Asuka's strong leadership her fears were quelled. "Yes Champion." as the rain became fiercer and dirt roads turned to mud, Izumi sprinted away towards the shrine. Asuka then stared down her foe, she then began to speak but instead of inciting provocation she simply asked a question. "Why hurt them? I'm the one you want...?" As she finished her words the rain began to land on her face peeling off her makeup, she then disrobed revealing her traditional martial arts gi beneath it and dawned her red headband which she tightly tied on her head Asuka then spoke once more. "Either way, do your worst I'll defend them no matter what."

Lilith watched with slowly growing disdain as the so-called hero fumbled with her words. By the end of the brave posturing, she simply sighed and shook her head. "You talk too much." She had never been much for social interaction, much less with some self-righteous country bumpkin. On the question of why, she cocked her head. "And you make an awful lot of assumptions as well. It’s quite rude." Of course she had no intention to explain her reasons to a mere peasant.
Neither did the refined woman bother to stop the priestess from fleeing. A lady did not exert herself. Such work was for servants. It would make no difference anyway. The imminent storm would destroy their homes and there was nothing they could do to stop it. However, when the martial artist dared the noble to do her worst, her expression suddenly shifted. A glimmer of recognition shined in those crimson eyes. Why yes, that was actually a wonderful suggestion. And she knew just the spell for the occasion. Slowly an eerie smile crept onto her features and she spoke with chilling calmness.
"If you insist."
The young witch gathered her focus and uttered an incantation. "From Hell’s heart I summon thee..." Far below her, an eerily familiar symbol was carved into the ground by gathering magic. Though this was far bigger than the one she had used to summon the grinning killer in during the previous encounter. "Come forth, cursed rider, Dullahan." In a flash of infernal flames an armored figure appeared riding a pitch-black steed. The decapitated horror was holding his head under one arm and sickly green wisps rose from his neck. His ashen face was twisted into a horrifying grin and eyes glowed with madness. The other arm held a massive sword, chipped and rusted, yet emanating a sinister sensation.
Unfortunately Lilith didn’t have time to simply sit back and admire her summon, not yet at least. They had work to do. Her chilling command echoed even over the rumbling thunder. "Dullahan, hunt down that running priestess. Ensure that none of the villagers reach the shrine." With haunting laughter the ghastly rider stabbed his heels into the horse’s flank, driving it into a mouth-frothing frenzy. The terrifying pair took off after the priestess in full gallop despite the treacherous terrain Even Asuka’s presence seemed to mean nothing to the single-minded monster. If she didn’t think fast, the rider was going to trample her. Words: 415 [Total = 1245] Hanzo Medjikara

As townspeople notice the change in the weather, and began running for cover Izumi enters the fray “Everyone hurry, there is a flood upon us! Everyone head to the shrine!” Upon hearing her words the townspeople prepare to flock towards Izumi cries as she runs through the streets of the village attempting to ferry everyone towards the shrine. But In the same moment as she says these words her prayer beads begin to rattle in the direction of Dullahan’s steed which is headed right for her brandishing his weapon as if to decapitate her Izumi slowly turns about to match it’s gaze and shrieks as he brings down his blade, but just before the blade could touch the maidens skin Asuka appears in an effort to stop the headless horseman’s advance, and after successfully managing to shield Izumi she is struck in the shoulder as a result and is left with a grisly wound.
Blood staining Asuka’s clothing as the horsemen violently hacks the blade from her body.As Asuka cries out in pain whilst holding back the beast the townspeople exit from their homes looking in horror as they flock towards Izumi. “Izumi…d-don’t stop running! Go now!” Izumi timidly nods her head frozen with fear, but just seeing the look in Asuka eyes gives her the strength to rally forth she then continues her race towards the Shrine. “Quickly everyone this way!” Izumi scurries away leaving Asuka to deal with Dullahan her weakened body struggling to keep this demon spawn at bay.
But with the headless horsemen momentarily slowed down, Izumi and the villagers begin their ascent up the shrine however Izumi begins to feel her uniform dampening as the water levels rise, making movement slightly more difficult, in order to avoid slowing everyone down Izumi steps aside and allows the villagers to ascend up the stairs first giving each one of the villagers a slight push as they ascend up the shrine in order to encourage them to move faster, and once everyone is safely out of the water Izumi follows behind and leads the ascension from the rear as Asuka continues to bravely hold off Dullahan.
“Izumi! Hurry!” Asuka cries her grip weakening as the water begins to reach up to the young girls ankles and with the wound she is currently suffering keeping this monstrosity back won’t be able to last much longer. Izumi continues to push the villagers up the steps “Keep moving everyone, we must make haste!” she shouts as they continue their race to the top of the shrine and once everyone has made it up and out of the flood waters Izumi herself then begins to make her ascent leading the charge from the rear.

Just before the massive blade could reap a life, the hero took the blow instead. Blood dripped along the steel as the creepy knight yanked his weapon away. The glowing eyes watched keenly. Asuka had managed to snatch his undivided attention. For better or worse. Soon the sword rose for another merciless slash, seeking to make the girl just as headless as him. Despite the rising water, however, the monster showed no signs of slowing down. Or even sinking... Instead, his supernatural steed simply stepped on top of the shifting waters, hooves burning with unnatural fire, openly defying the laws that bound mortals. After all, no obstacle could ever stop a Dullahan. Locks came undone. Gates flew open. Even water became just another road to ride on.
With every passing moment the storm was growing worse. Water roared. Wind hissed. Lightning lashed out like an angry whip, striking down a tall tree near the shrines. Several screams followed the flash of razor light. With a strained groan the scorched tree collapsed, sending broken branches and loose mud sliding down the hillside. Panic quickly spread among the struggling survivors. Some were swept away by the mudslide, splashing into the cold water below. Without a strong leader, their faith was wavering. They needed their hero...
Meanwhile Lilith was quite enjoying the spectacle. Ah, the screams of terror and disbelief... Reminded her of better days... She swooped towards the hill, passing the climbing peasants with ease. Glimmering water cascaded around her, painting the outline of her barrier like a shimmering pearl. Her voice chimed in the wind, mocking their doomed effort to survive. "Such pathetic resistance. You should just accept the inevitable and drown like good, little rats." It would have been easy to finish them off here... It would’ve taken merely a spark of her magic... But it would have been too easy. Too quick. They deserved to suffer for their arrogance. Struggle in vain for that faintest glimmer of survival... Before she showed them true despair.
Just like had happened to her...
Snapping out of the memory before it became too vivid, the witch glanced at the shrine awaiting behind her. Ah yes, the basket. Truthfully she had gotten so caught up in enacting vengeance that she almost forgot... Luckily mushrooms could handle a bit of rain. Gently her broom rose to float near the shrine gate as her crimson gaze idly scanned the surroundings. Now where did she leave that basket back then...? Words: 414 [Total = 1659] Hanzo Medjikara

As the water rose and Dullahan rose up upon the surface of the water Asuka lost her grip and was immediately toppled over and trampled it’s hooves practically caving in her chest whilst magnifying the pain by having its flaming horseshoe clip against her injured shoulder. Asuka then felt the water overcome her loosening her headband and causing it to unravel off of her head only for the warrior herself to be swept away into the flood water, her body turning over and her hand outstretching as she looked back with futility. As this transpired, a frightened Izumi watched on in horror as the Champion had been washed away by the storm. Izumi nearly shed a tear but knew she had to be strong as it is what the champion entrusted her to do, and upon seeing the witch land, Izumi held out her arms, in order to create a barrier in front of the shrine in order to stop the witches advance, revealing now her hidden clairvoyant powers as a large white screen that mimicked the appearance of glass appeared from nothing shielding the shrine and the villagers from her approach with Dullahan still making his way up cutting down any of the villagers unfortunate enough to have failed to seek refuge in time and weren’t fast enough to make it up all the way up the steps
Meanwhile, As Asuka continued to float away into the town which whizzed by in shades of greenish-blue as her vision became tinted from the watery depths. Thinking quickly she managed to grab hold of a nearby sign that formerly hung from the building she was now on and now served as a buoy for her to grab hold of which she used to hoist herself up onto the rooftop using what strength she had left in her left arm. When she finally got to safe ground Asuka rolled over on her stomach and did her best to breathe but this proved difficult as her lungs had been punctured after being trampled by Dullahan. Asuka could barely hold herself up on one knee struggling to keep her body upright, and watched helplessly as the shrine burned in the distance as villagers who failed to make it up the hillside were either cut down by Dullahan or dragged down into the flood waters and carried away by the current. Asuka dropped her head defeated as if there was nothing that could be done. But out of the corner of Asuka’s eye, she noticed her headband floating down the stream and reached out with her right arm to grab it and looked to it recalling all of the faces of the villagers and friends she had come to make her last thoughts of Izumi. With her mind now refocused, Asuka fought through the pain and tied her headband on her head and readied herself for the only thing she could think to do. “I’m not finished yet, I’ve got to try there’s only one thing I can do…” Asuka then took her working right hand and did her best to gather energy in her pitiful state.
“Tetsu…” she said as a small ball of energy began to form, she then honed in on the ghastly headless specter that neared the peak of the shrine. “Ha…” Soon the blast would reach the largest peak it could with amount of energy she had left. Just then the image of Izumi flashed in her mind and that of all the villagers that she still needed to protect giving Asuka enough strength to muster up the energy she needed to even from a knelt position launch the massive blast directly at Dullahan with enough ferocity to tear the beast asunder. “KOGEKI!” she shouted to herself the blast whistling as it made it’s way towards the shrine, setting Dullahan ablaze and the flames tearing the beast apart leaving a burning husk as it toppled down the steps and into the floodwaters below as the residual flames from the impact of the blast crashed against the barrier in front of the shrine. Izumi whimpered as a tear fell from her eye. “Asuka…?” seeing this display gave Izumi hope “The Champion lives!” Izumi shouts as she caught a glimpse of Asuka kneeling out in the distance. Seeing Asuka's courage on display gave Izumi an idea as she then quickly turned about and pushed her way through the crowd of people and out of site from the witch, rushing towards a hidden armory that contained a sacred bow but no arrows, Izumi placed it against her back and then walked forward however just then she notices a basket of mushrooms that cause her prayer beads to tug out in said direction.
Izumi examines them but is uncertain of their origin she then looks to the witch and concludes that this must be what she is after. Curious, Izumi picks up the basket and walks to the front of the shrine with them and sets them down in front of Lilith, however, keeping them out of her reach she then points her bow towards them as a white arrow of light is aimed right at them. "If you wish to have your precious, fungus purify yourself witch. Cease this storm and purify yourself!" Izumi nods to the small fountain beside the shrine, "Place your hands in the fountain, wash your hands, face and rinse your mouth out, once you have concluded, ring the bell three times and only three times." Izumi nods to the bell above the Witch's head. "Also, take these and hold them in your hand, as you ring the bell you will then ask the Kai's to purify you of your magic." Izumi tosses her prayer beads to Lilith. "Hand them back to me once you are finished, Do as I say or I will destroy this fungus." the villagers had never seen Izumi with such conviction, and all stood in silence as she dared to stand up to the diabolical woman who had caused so much destruction. Asuka who was bearing witness to this from a distance noticed, Izumi, holding a bow and was uncertain of what to make of the situation "Hey...what's Izumi doing?" Asuka remarked as she faded from consciousness due to her injuries leaving behind a bloody heap on the rooftop where she lays.

So close, yet so infuriatingly far. Just as Lilith was about to venture further, a barrier sprung up to block her path. Her hand reached for the white surface, feeling the divine protection rejecting her touch. Once again the gods were interfering with her work, but experience told her they were getting help... Slowly her seething stare was drawn towards the rats scampering up the hillside. One of the priestesses must have been quite devoted to receive such a favor. How... annoying.
Before the young witch could try anything drastic, however, her plans were foiled even further. Her attention was drawn towards a strange shout and a flash of light that definitely wasn’t from lightning. The distracted Dullahan never stood a chance, suffering the full wrath of the blast. With flash of flames and a haunting scream the monster returned to his realm. And the summoner’s eye twitched. Tch, that worthless yokel. She knew she should’ve summoned a Banshee instead... Hmph, no matter. It was not her preference to handle these matters personally, but she would see it done.
Lilith turned to see one of the peasants holding her basket. Oh, and a weapon of sorts too. Mild curiosity visited her voice as the priestess demonstrated some semblance of power. "A sacred bow? How quaint." She wasn’t exactly surprised. Nor impressed. It was no doubt the presence of this damnable shrine that allowed a mere peasant to perform this glorified parlor trick. She was admittedly tempted to show these fools real magic... Still, manners first and foremost. Thus she politely listened as the priestess dared to bark utterly nonsensical orders at her. The prayed beads were caught and given a skeptical glance.
By the end of the tirade, the witch could only give a flat stare and a sarcastic comment to go with it. "...Was that supposed to be an ultimatum?" To think that a mere commoner had the absolute audacity to speak to a noble like that. As she lowered her head, the hat cast a deep shadow over her eyes. Her tone turned colder. Darker. "Fine, here’s mine." Blue sparks of electricity started gathering around her hand. Suddenly the beads in her grasp shattered. She slowly pointed a crackling finger towards the downed hero on the faraway rooftop. "Return my research materials or your so-called champion dies." She knew full and well there would be no negotiation. Not even an uneducated peasant was foolish enough to test her patience anymore. Words: 417 [Total = 2076] Hanzo Medjikara

Izumi saw the beads vanish before her very eyes and now the tables have turned her heart sank as her gambit failed, and now she was the one being given the ultimatum but with such a display of treachery how could she be certain that she could trust her. On the rooftop in the distance, Asuka’s body lies broken and she was losing a good amount of blood from her injury on the verge of certain death. With their shrine ablaze and their village halfway under water. Izumi stands before the venomous witch and is given a choice; sacrifice Asuka or hand over the ingredients. Izumi had never faced such pressure and was uncertain of what to do “Let her die! If she were a true champion she could’ve saved us!” cried a villager, this sudden change of heart appalled Izumi “We cannot just let her die, she saved us from that beast.” Izumi retorted “Why not aim for the witch, the true menace!” barked another villager, as this goes on Izumi who could barely believe what she was hearing and whispered to herself. “Gods help us…”
Izumi then turns to the witch and is still uncertain as to what choice to make but after some moments of deliberation and being left with no other choice Izumi drops the barrier which silences the people, she drops her weapon which clunks to the floor and reluctantly hands the witch her basket a great deal of shame on her face. “I surrender…” With the barrier now down, Lilith is now free to take her ingredients and depart. The villagers were stunned by this display of cowardice “Izumi why?” cried out a villager who lashed out at Izumi’s surrender. “We can no longer fight, and should we try who’s to say she will not only destroy the champion but us as well!?” Izumi snaps at the villagers. However, her voice returns to one of calm as she looks to the witch. “The risk is too great…it's best to just give her what she wants.” She says. The villagers seeing her logic go silent with all that can be heard is the sound of the rain. Izumi raises her eyes to Lilith. “Now please, take your ingredients and leave us and…Asuka…in peace.” Izumi places the basket in front of her and takes a step back, holding up the barrier once more, lightning crackling in the background as the waves crash behind her.

As hope crumbled, the rats revealed their true nature. They bickered and squeaked in despair, only interested in saving their own sorry hides. Mortals couldn’t even face death with dignity. How disgusting. In just hearing them, the witch found her deepest disdain entirely justified. The ill-advised suggestion to aim the bow at her was met with bemused smile and a chilling little comment. "Oh please, do go on." Rest assured, none of them would survive the attempt. She would bring the full wrath of thunder down on them if they so much as sneezed in her direction. Clearly they failed to understand how lucky they were to have someone much stronger protecting their worthless lives.
However, when the bow was finally dropped, Lilith found herself just a little... disappointed. It had never been in any doubt, of course, but deep down she had been hoping for an excuse. The lighting crackled on her fingertip, longing to be released like a bolt of hate. Still... Unlike them, she was not some honorless savage. She was a lady of her word. In good and evil. So she waved the electricity from her hand like one would snuff out a match. "The first wise decision you have made in your miserable life." The basket was sharply snatched away, as if the mere presence of the priestess somehow offended the witch. Maybe it did...
After checking that all the rare finds were safe, the young noble even allowed herself a satisfied smile. A click of fingers breathed life into her broom that eagerly lifted her into the air. "Now then, I do hope you have all learned something today." She swept her glowing, spiteful stare over the commoners. Ominous words were left lingering in the air. "Never defy a witch." With the final warning, she flew off and soon vanished beyond the horizon. Following her departure the storm started losing strength as well, leaving the villagers with just sullen rain and whispering winds. Words: 330 [Total = 2406] Hanzo Medjikara

As the waves ceased and the rain stopped, the villagers looked about as Lilith left them be, Izumi watched the witch fly away. “Some Champion…” said another upset villager. Izumi seemed infuriated, as she turned back and snapped at her fellow countrymen. “Is that really all you have to say after all she did for us!? Where would we be had she not stepped in to defeat that menace, she gave us a way to be safe from the flood. And got us here so that this barrier could have been erected! She’s not perfect, but she sacrificed herself for us and I think that’s something worthy of recognition. She may not be the champion you wanted but she’s the one we have…and I believe in her.” The villager seemed stunned by her words.
Izumi then walked down the steps and looked at the carnage of water damaged buildings and villagers who’s skin have turned from that fair color to a sickly pale blue from having been submerged by the deadly flood waters, the mortification on her face telling the whole story. But as she walks through the streets she then spots blood trickling down from the roof of a building on the building. Knowing that can only be one person, Izumi's eyes light up with hope as she frantically makes her way up to the roof of the building only to be stopped in her tracks, petrified at the sight of Asuka’s body lying prone on her stomach and surrounded by a pool of her own blood. Izumi trembled as she walked near her and turned her body over, Asuka’s eyes were glazed over and unresponsive, and her limbs had gone limp. But as Izumi placed her hand on Asuka’s wrist she was able to feel a very faint pulse. After letting out a sigh of Relief Izumi looked at her downed hero and just as she was about to tend to Asuka she hears a voice call out from down in the streets below “Maiden Izumi!” Izumi hearing her name turns her head directing her attention out to the man who called out to her. “So…what do we do now…?” He asks, surrounded by other villagers who all have the same question on their minds, Izumi looks over at Asuka and then returns her gaze to the villagers greeting them with an optimistic smile “Rebuild…” she replies.
In the aftermath, after Lilith’s destruction of Sura Village, the denizens of the town began to slowly rebuild as Asuka recovered from her injuries after being crippled by Lilith. Izumi visits her daily in order to make certain she receives the treatment she needs however many of the villagers have begun having their doubts about her role as Champion with many divided on their opinion of her. But due to Izumi’s intervention, she convinces to give Asuka a second chance. But Asuka herself takes their disapproval to heart and is having difficulty coming to terms with her failure, perhaps Lilith's victory did more than just destroy Asuka's village it may have just broken her spirit.
