On a warm day, young Asuka headed into a small forest in search of a small shrine encircled by a village of others of the same spiritual background as hers. While Asuka was always a martial artist at her very core she was also a very spiritual person and used her connection to it to aid her. Asuka never had the luxury of being able to do visit an actual Shrine in person due to her living situation as a child, instead relying on reciting a prayer each night within the orphanage where she was raised. But in her travels, Asuka had recently heard word of a small village on the outskirts of West City within a forest out in the great plains that had housed such sacred grounds and Asuka made it her mission to find it in order to pay her respects to her gods in person. It would be a long journey but it was of great importance to Asuka even more so than her training. So on this day, Asuka would trade in her gi and headband in favor of a more ceremonial set of robes, however, would still keep them on her person tucked away in her duffle bag. "Training is important but so is spirituality" However after making her way through the trees and having finally made it to the village and she enters inside she finds herself in awe of the "Torii" At the center of the village atop a large hill, but in her excitement to pray at an actual Shrine. She failed to notice how amiss things are in the village. And before she can set foot up the steps leading to the holy grounds. A young shrine maiden looks to her. “Traveler, be weary…there is something unholy in the air.” Asuka then stops to take a look around overcome with a strange feeling that something is very wrong. She too feeling aware of the unfamiliar presence in the air. @lilith

Shrines were such quaint little places. Groups of people gathered together to build a monument of worship for gods that couldn’t care less about them. Futility at its finest. Oh well, this place did still have its uses. See, this sort of terrain was perfect for gathering certain rare ingredients. Of course the uppity worshipers had to be dealt with first... It was their fault for being so uncooperative, spouting nonsense about an unclean spirit and such. Naturally the priests had paid for their insolence, now scattered around the shrine grounds, wounded and dying, with scorch marks and patches of ice around them. And no one would arrive to save them...
If the traveling martial artist followed the unsettling aura and wandered all the way up the steps, she would come across a rather shady figure. Dressed in dark robes and wearing a wide-brimmed hat, the stranger held an air of dignified, feminine grace. On a closer look, mauve locks of hair framed her deathly pale features. She seemed a touch too young and frail to be called wicked... But a witch she was without a doubt. The odd wand hanging from her belt and the dark tome in her grasp were telling enough. She dangled a basket from one arm, filled with strangely colored mushrooms of red, violet and pure white. A savvy traveler would perhaps realize that those were all incredibly poisonous. The youth would heed the warning of the shrine maiden and begin to slowly make her way up the steps to the gate. Respectfully walking up it's side and performing the sacred rituals once reaching the top paying no mind to the wicked figure at first but as soon as she finished the sacred ritual, which consisted of her washing her hands, washing her mouth, removing prayer beads that are tucked within her hakama to hold as she rings the bell the tolling loud enough to potentially catch the attention of the witch beyond the gate to the shrine and reciting a short prayer. She lifted her head and looked to Lilith carefully not to step into the shrine "Why are you here, these grounds are sacred. Please leave. It's not right to blaspheme the gods" Asuka calmly spoke her words not to show any anger and refused to cross the gate as she did not want to bring violence upon the sacred ground despite being deeply internally disturbed by the acts committed by the witch. "I will repel you with force if I must. But not here...if you will not leave. Could you at least step past the gate?" Asuka did her best to speak calmly as she attempted to persuade the witch to take her wickedness elsewhere. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Though another soul drew closer, Lilith seemed to pay it no mind. As long as it didn’t interrupt her gathering, she was going to pretend it wasn’t even there. Only when the girl spoke, the young witch finally bothered to give her a fleeting, disinterested glance. She was just about to summon a demon to chase the bothersome girl way, but... Well, she could feel her wand trembling with interference, the infernal powers refusing to cooperate. Her eyes were drawn to the shrine by her side. Right. Sacred ground. Oh well, it was wise to move a bit anyhow. She didn’t want to risk losing her precious ingredients. Like had happened in her fight against a certain alien...
The young witch set her basket down and turned her attention onto the robe-wearing peasant. "If you want something from someone, it’s polite to introduce yourself first." Her voice chimed like a silver bell, haughtily chiding the girl. She walked to the gate with a calm, composed stride. "Not that it matters though..." As soon as she stepped over the threshold, she could feel her dark powers stirring again. "You are not worth my attention anyway." She snatched her wand from the belt, flicked it to length and waved it gently at the rude stranger. A cold incantation followed the motion. "Frost Hex." An icy blue bolt of magic shot forth. Asuka noticed the white frost appeared on the ground, she panicked taking a few steps back however as the chill overcame her body. Her internal temperature dropped making it difficult for her to raise her arms. And being ever dedicated to not hurting the shrine. She stood her ground. Only focusing her Ki to dull the effects of the frost and warm herself up. However, it was only temporary as the cold air still remained and she could only keep herself warm for so long. Even still once Lilith had stepped past the "Torii." Asuka needed to think quickly, and since her strikes had now been enfeebled and it being to dangerous to utilize her Tetsu-ha Kogeki at such short range, let alone in front of the shrine Asuka needed to employ a different tactic. And so, Asuka attempted to grab hold of the witches arm, twisting the joints in a violent fashion, and after planting her foot in the ground attempts to toss the witch over her shoulder, hoping that the force of her throw would be enough to eject Lilith off the hill or at least down the stairs making it easier for Asuka to keep her from the shrine in order for her to utilize her strongest attack. "I won't let you hurt this shrine!" Asuka said to herself as she fought off the chill of the ice, placing her hands by her side and began to charge her energy "Tetsu" as the Ki swirled together beneath her fingertips her attack began to take shape forming into a large silver ball crackling with electrical energy, "Ha..." as the ball of mass had developed it's massive size Asuka had prepared to fire it off "Kogeki!" as Asuka recited the last words of her attack in her mind, she flung her arms forward firing off the blast, while weaker than it's normal variant Asuka pull all she had behind it and watched it fly. Asuka resented the idea of doing combat in front of such a holy artifact for she felt it was disrespectful but there was nothing she could do other than an attempt to drive her back. Down below the shrine maiden witnessed the fighting and went to warn the townspeople in order to get them to safety. The haughty lady was in for two surprises very quickly. First, the self-righteous foe proved to be much sturdier than an average peasant. Very well, a minor miscalculation on her part... Second, the rude girl was much stronger than the frame suggested. Before Lilith could react, she found her light body flung off of the hill. She clicked her tongue and whistled. Something swooped across the air, saving her from a painful fall. But not from ball of ki that painfully struck her. She nearly fell again, only barely clinging to what was now revealed to be a broom. A flying broom to be exact. Muttering something less than polite beneath her breath she swung herself upright to properly sit on it. She stayed in flight and kept her distance.
After regaining composure, the witch glared at the martial artist. "Foolish girl... You face Lady Lilith Nevermore, the heir of the Nevermore witch clan. Tremble." She pricked her finger onto the sharp prongs on her wand and a drip of crimson fell. "From Hell’s heart I summon thee..." Down below where the droplet landed, a sharp symbol with five edges appeared on the ground. "Come forth, mist stalking killer, Jack the Ripper." In a burst of infernal flames a sharp-dressed gentleman appeared. His face was hidden behind a smiling theater mask and he twirled a cruel blade in his grasp. "Attack." On the command, the stranger vanished into thin air, as if he had stepped backwards into deep mist. Creepy laughter trailed in the air. Suddenly the shady man reappeared right behind the girl, his knife poised for a backstab.
While the summoned soul provided a distraction, Lilith pressed the assault. "Frost Hex." Another blue bolt zipped at the lone hero, meaning to freeze her into a statue this time. But little did the witch realize that her foe was now protected... Furthermore, Her mana was admittedly running low... But she had finally figured a solution she was admittedly eager to try out. Aiming her hand towards the foe, she splayed her fingers and focused. "Soul Drain." The air rippled as if suddenly dragged by an invisible force. As Asuka revels in the fact that her shot landed she remembers that she is still in a great deal of distress due to the effects of the frost. But upon hearing Lilith’s voice and seeing her on her broom. Asuka couldn’t help but hold back a chuckle she found the young witch almost cute flying up there on her little broomstick. But she knew this was a tough fight. “You can call me Asuka!” However as she exchanged her name with her foe she quickly took notice of the creature known as Jack the ripper make a lunge toward her after taking shape, unsure of what to do Asuka puts up her guard and feels the stab of Jacks blade almost immediately, but is surprised when the blade nearly crumples into her arm leaving only so much as a tiny cut that barely broke skin. However, she barely had any time to lick her wounds as a spell had been cast and whilst it's energy rippled around Asuka her barrier was able to easily repel any spells that had come her way. Asuka shook her head at her foe but was still weakened even if her resilient nature allowed her to pull through with relative ease. However, her barrier was wearing somewhat thin but was still secure enough to protect her from some of the other disastrous effects of her opponents magic for the moment. However, the battle had now reached a standstill, the town so quiet you could hear the shrine bells ring, as the townsfolk looked on at the witch from within their homes. Without the ability to fly, Asuka had stopped to devise a plan to land an attack in her weakened state. "Okay Asuka, what's your next move." she thought to herself as she sized up her opponent from such a low vantage point. Asuka then knelt down and picked up two rocks from off of the floor, and began to toss them up into the air catching them every moment or so as she paced about occasionally holding them on the insides of her palms running them along with her fingers in a circular motion. From afar she used her thumb to gauge the distance between the two holding it out to mark Lilith's distance. And after a brief moment of lining up her shot Asuka kicks the two rocks one after the other, with the second rock causing both of them to split open with each one aiming straight for Lilith racing toward her opponent like a speeding bullet, with the young warrior hoping that the blow from the small rock shrapnel would be enough to cause some light disorientation against her foe. Lilith’s smugness was quite short-lived. Both of her spells fizzled, as if stopped by some sort of unseen force. Her glare narrowed. She had seen this sort of technique before against a certain swordswoman. Though unfortunately she didn’t have time to ponder it further when stinging pain shattered her focus. "Ow!" Nearly falling off her broom, she rubbed her forehead in disbelief. The motion had been so quick that she wasn’t quite sure, but... "Did... did you just kick a rock at me?" Her question was answered in the form of another stone. "Ow! Stop it!" Honestly they hurt her ego more than her body. Despite the measly damage, however, the stone projectiles had certainly accomplished something... They had forced her to lose altitude little by little. She hovered well within jumping distance now.
Growing irritated, the lady shot a venomous glare at the martial artist. "I know you peasants are primitive, but this is ridiculous." Gritting her sharp teeth together, she turned the hateful look towards the gentleman. "Jack! Quit dawdling and do something!" Again the laughing demon vanished, moving without a sound or shadow. Like dancing mist the air wavered in front of the girl. The creature lunged out of nowhere, aiming to catch her with a wide and violent slash.
Meanwhile, the young witch set her wand back onto her belt, reached into her long robes and pulled out a small crystal orb instead. Muttering an incantation under her breath, she held it under her eyes and gazed deep within. It was hard to tell from distance, but it seemed as if the crystal started glowing and filled with swirling smoke. As her attention shifted back onto the foe, an ominous smile played on her lips. "I foresee a dark future for you..." Her hand raised again, fingers splayed in a familiar way. "Soul Drain." Again the air rippled, like a barely visible vortex. There was a pull... Until her eyes gained a blue glow. Then it turned into a sudden push, an invisible hand intending to grip the foe and slam her against the ground. BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE. Asuka looks to her foe, glad that her attack hit but felt it didn’t as much damage as she would’ve liked. And as she takes a breath she realizes her barrier can no longer hold up against the effects of her magic. However, as she reflects on her next moves she noticed that the creature called Jack had began charging her in but as he begins his slash Asuka's reflexively raises up her arm in order to parry his slash with her forearm. However, in doing so causes her to receive a small cut on her wrist. But as Asuka attempted to move her arm in order take a gander at the small laceration. She would find herself violently pulled to the ground her knees and palms smashing into the pavement along with the rest of her body. Soon Her body would be encased in a blue aura much like the eyes of her enemy as she slowly became ensnared in her enemies attack. But As her head was nearly smashed into the floor Asuka would begin to resist but and would begin to focus the last of the energy of her barrier into breaking the spell now practically on all fours, Asuka concentrated as hard as she could and soon a white light would shine through and through sheer force of will Asuka would purge the spell and stood up to face her foe mostly unfettered by the ordeal walking away with only a few scrapes on her knees and redness of her palms. With her enemies attack fought off Asuka would then lean down and pick up another small rock and quickly kicked it toward her foe. But this was merely a ruse and as soon as her feet touched ground she quickly placed her palms at her side and began preparing yet another fearsome attack. "Tetsu..." As the silver ball of Ki begins to form by her side she looks to her foe her eyes following the rock as it closed in on her foe. "Ha..." as it drew closer to the face of her enemy she readied her colossal blow. "Kogeki!" as the last words of the incantation were recited in her head and the rock was within inches of her foe's face she launched her energy blast at her enemy. She wasn't certain that this attack could end the battle but she knew she needed to do something and hopefully once the attack connected the strong resonance of Ki would internally disrupt her opponent. Little by little Lilith’s cold composure was beginning to crumble away. Even through the telekinetic grip she could feel it, her foe fiercely resisting the assault. This cursed girl... How... How was she so powerful? Her thought was cut short by another stone that scraped her cheek, leaving behind a wound. Unfortunately the distraction turned out to be costly. She was hit with the full brunt of the following blast, knocked off of her broom and against the cold, harsh ground below. Something cracked painfully. She coiled over, holding her arm tenderly and fighting back the forming tears. As if the heavy damage weren’t enough, the disrupting ki began causing havoc. It felt like poison tearing through her veins, opening old wounds. Sickly coughs shook her frail body. Splatters of red painted the ground. In a single attack she had gone from slightly hurt to barely conscious.
Lilith’s hazy gaze found the misty murderer standing over her. She could tell it wasn’t concern that shined in those pinprick eyes beneath the grinning mask… "Why... why didn’t you protect me...?" There was no answer, no words at least, only a devilish snicker. It was still enough to give the witch a bitter pause. "...What do you mean you thought I had that?" Another awkward pause went without answer, leaving the witch to shake her head. "Tch, forget it... Just... Keep her busy..." Unable to refuse the command, the laughing killer vanished again. A creeping shiver trailed across the air and suddenly he loomed over the martial artist. This time it was a kick, mercilessly aimed for the ribs. Murderers rarely had any honor after all...
Meanwhile, the wicked witch was gathering hateful energies. She glared daggers at the martial artist and weakly lifted her working arm towards the foe. "Curse you..." While she was running dangerously low on mana, some spells could be fueled with pure hatred. And she had plenty. "Black Death." Her little, ring and middle finger lit up with arcane lights; yellow, blue and violet respectively. "Creeping Dark." A black aura engulfed her index finger. "Soul Drain." And finally a colorless waver surrounded her thumb. With a focused hum, she clenched the open hand into a tight fist. One after another the supernatural effects assaulted the girl. Asuka seeing her wounded opponent summon her murderous friend once again figures that another assault was in the works and took this time as a chance to regain some of her composure, sending a flow of ki through her body in an attempt to shield her from what her dastardly foe may have up her sleeve. And as Jack approached her, throwing out a kick Asuka caught his leg and then smashed his knee it with the edge of her elbow, effectively getting him off of her for the moment. However, this proved futile as during this time her other opponent had mounted an assault using some sort of toxic spell which her shield of Ki was unable to protect herself. And suddenly felt something overcome her, a sinking feeling in her stomach she knew something was wrong but in this moment she glared at her foe, and began her long descent down the hill when a bright light shined her way, however she managed to shield her eyes, But as she drew closer to her foe but the youth began to feel a chill, her body stiffening ever so slowly with every movement of her muscles until finally, she collapsed atop her foe before she could finish her attack, blood spewing from her lips as she let out a guttural cough upon hitting the floor. “What did you do to me…” she whimpered. She could feel her body getting weaker whatever affliction this was, it may well cost Asuka dearly. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Too far away. That was Lilith’s excuse for her spells failing and she was sticking to it. She was simply outside of her comfortable casting range. Clearly. And not, for example, losing her concentration or something equally ridiculous... A prodigy like her couldn’t be failing, absolutely not... Another cough stained the dirt. She quivered from the searing pain. Worse yet, the foe had the absolute audacity to tackle her while she was down. The nerve!
Fortunately, the curse had taken some hold at least... A wry smile played on the witch’s bloodied lips. "The same thing I do to all cockroaches." Her hateful stare narrowed decisively. There was a pulse, like a strained heartbeat. The curse intensified, chipping away at the girl’s health. But the wicked noble was far from done. "Jack." The snickering servant appeared from thin air, aimed to grab the girl by the hair and yank her up like a rag doll. Or like a target.
Lilith readied her focus again, fueling the spells with her anger alone. "Black Death." Her hand grasped weakly, trying to draw strength from the foe. "Soul Drain." Regardless of success or failure, she gathered her breath and focus. Blue glow lit up in her eyes. "Now... would you kindly go die somewhere else...?" A telekinetic force erupted from her body, aiming to launch the girl backwards, preferably into the nearest wall. Since she was unable to move away from the foe, she would move the foe away from herself. Try to at least... Admittedly her fading vision had seen sharper days... BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE. Asuka stands to her feet, feeling the effects of the poison once more, looking down at her foe, She places both her palms next to one another and then thrusts them toward the witches chest putting a small amount of Ki behind the strike. Her body still cold her bones still rattling internally from the venom in her veins. But the young warrior presses on her ceremonial robes stained with the blood dripping from her mouth. “I won’t let this poison beat me, and when I am at my full strength once again. I’ll stop you…but I must say, despite…” She violently coughs, some of her blood mixed saliva landing on her opponents’ clothing. “what you have done…and who you are…I learned a lot from you…thank you.” She lets out a weak smile down at her enemy. Frustration was boiling beneath the cold surface. The young witch couldn’t even begin to wrap her head around the situation. That girl should’ve been at death’s door by now, begging for her miserable life... Yet... She still stood, barely worse for wear. Inconceivable... Was there really some truth to priestesses being protected by the gods? The finishing attack was swift and brutal, striking a critical spot within the weakened witch. Her eyes went briefly blank from the impact and even afterwards she was barely clinging to consciousness. All traces of magic vanished from the air. Even the demon laughed his last before disappearing in a burst of infernal fire. The fight was over.
Asuka’s brave words were met with a defiant glare. Lilith was too busy gasping for air to say anything, but her venomous look told enough. With her last strength, she weakly flicked her wand and called for her broom. It swooped down, snatching the limp woman by the robes and zipping back to the sky. Though her body was wracked with all kinds of aching and searing pain, it was nothing compared to the agony of her shattered pride. Beaten by a mere peasant... Again. And worst of all, the hasty departure forced her to leave all those painstakingly collected mushrooms behind. Truly an utterly shameful defeat... BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE. As Asuka, sees her opponent swept from under her she looks out at her as she watches her fly away on her broomstick. When suddenly she clutches her chest and is then attended to by the shrine maidens. “Easy there, heroine…you should rest up.” She falls to a knee. “Maiden, Izumi! Get her a room in the inn, we must repay our heroine’s great triumph.” Asuka’s eyes glazed over, as her illness took over her she fell into unconsciousness and was taken away by the maidens. Carried to a local inn in the center of the town safely placed in an inn where she was given time to rest, While being watched over by the maidens and local apothecaries. With her battle concluded, Asuka was now taking the time to receive the rest she needed in order to recuperate for her next battle. However Little did she know however the townsfolk were not the only ones watching over her. For deep in the depths of the galaxy, a portly blue-skinned Kai spoke in a scraggly if not panicked voice. "Asuka Atsuki huh...Interesting...That earthling is quite powerful. And with the right guidance, she could only become stronger."
