Unit 15 had left Enigmus' lab shortly before CARA's new body was finished because he was still intent on taking revenge against Jacob for what had been done to him. There were too many variables for him to be able to anticipate everything that could happen, but never the less, he had taken precautions which included firewalling his systems against intrusions with a cipher of his own design, rather than what his systems had been equipped with. He also had an idea of how to deal with Jacob in an manner that would allow him to gain the upper hand. The doctor was no fool, in fact he was one of the most intelligent people 15 knew, but still hated nonetheless. There would be a lot of gambits and other risky plays involved, but after letting his anger settle, 15 had thought about it from a logical point of view.
This would no doubt become a war of technology, and considering the time frame involved since his disappearance, Jacob would likely have some sort of weapon at his disposal, which is why 15 would have to play things very carefully. In order for this to work, he would have to fool a dangerously intelligent opponent. All of this went through the android's mind as he burned through Earth's upper atmosphere, heating up like an asteroid. Unit 15's systems were capable of handling something like this, so he paid it little mind while using the topography of the land to get a bearing on current position. Normally he would have used a series of GPS satellites, but that would be an unacceptable security risk, given the current situation.
Unit 15 had a map of the entire planet in his neural network, which allowed him to navigate with considerable skill even when not linked to a system. The fiery reentry soon gave way to blue cloudless skies, but in 15's mind, it was anything but a pleasant day. Jacob would be a thorn in his side until dealt with, and that was exactly what was on today's agenda. As the air whipped past 15, he flew at speeds in excess of Mach 3, and didn't waste time in returning to the laboratory in the mountains where Jacob would likely be planning his next move. The scenery was a blur, but easy for 15 to navigate, and soon the mountains came into view. He had no intention of trying to sneak either. Coming to a landing at the mouth of the entrance tunnel, he scanned the area noting something of interest. There were no power signatures. The lab itself ran three high grade plasma reactors just to stay online.
It was possible there was a power dampening field in use, but that would have been something that didn't exist prior to his departure. It also wouldn't be a surprise. Jacob was obsessed with technology and always working on something. There were times he created things that didn't do anything of value, just to see if he could. Walking to the two large doors at the end of the tunnel 15 was about to knock, with his foot, when they opened by themselves. Now he knew that Jacob was up to something. The lab was normally buttoned up like a fortress, and it would have taken a small army to get inside. Placing a hand on one of the doors, he pushed it aside and walked into the lab, and almost immediately noticed something wrong, it wasn't there. All of the equipment was gone and he was greeted by a cold steel room. At the back he saw Jacob sitting alone in a chair.
“You'll have to excuse the lack of décor, when I picked you up coming through the atmosphere I figured this would be your first stop. I doubt you're here for a status report, and I couldn't very well have you destroying the ridiculously expensive equipment I have here, so it was teleported to a... safe location. However, before we get to that, tell me, where is that interesting new friend of yours.”
