NAME: Enigmus (Professer Vikram Vetal)
RACE: Mechanical Android (Formerly Abbayorian Kashvar)
AGE: 4 (43 for Vikram)
GENDER: Male (Gender adopted from creator)
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 7'5Ft tall. 69lbs.
APPEARANCE:
The original form of Engimus is a helmet shape drone twice the size of a human head. However, after gaining sentience, he materialized himself as the avatar you see in the reference above.
The Professor himself, before becoming one with Enigmus, appeared as a 4ft tall plump Kasvar, with nubby whiskers, and blue skin from his Abbayorian blood.
MOTIVATIONS:
Enigmus' ultimate goal is to unravel the secrets of the universe, and to become the most knowledgeable entity in existence. This is not only due to it's roots as an information gathering drone, but because it's very soul that it received from it's creator yearns for it as well. No matter how mundane the knowledge, Enigmus puts great value on collecting and retaining it.
QUIRKS:
Enigmus prefers to communicate through telepathy. When he speak, he does so in a very melodic manner, and his voice carries an echo that sounds both mechanical and ethereal. Although he is machine that dictates actions with logic over emotion, to the point where they are often repressed (easily and without consequence), his decisions are still sometimes strange and seemly illogical.
BONDS:
Enigmus is a fairly new creation, and does not have many bonds. He has a very strong literal bond with his creator, Vikram Vetal, as he possesses his very soul, making them now one in the same. However, the Machine mind of Enigmus has more sway over Vikram than his soul has over it. Vikram is now a ghost in the shell of Enigmus. A phantom of what he was before, consumed literally and figuratively by his passions. The bonds that to professor now shared with his family, old freinds, and research partners now only exist deep inside him, remembered in data, but nigh-on forgotten in heart.
BACKSTORY:
Professor Vikram Vetal descended from Kasivarian exiles, who took refuge in Abbayor, and cross-bred with Abbayorians. Him and his family retained enough knowledge of the mystic arts from their home planet to be considered minor wizards even. When Vikram grew up, he became a renowned robotics professor and independent researcher, who developed a type of drone called a SLAIG (Self-Learning-Adaptive-Information-Gatherer). They were helmet shaped drones with a question mark emblem, that essentially flew around and had a lot of tools for finding, gathering, and compiling information based on the given directives. They would be ideal for studying things, finding obscure information, and spying on people. They could even give suggestions based on that information afterwards.
The SLAIGs themselves were considered by Vikram to be a early prototype, and were not at all available on the market, but displays did earn him a lot of funding. He intended to incorporate magic into their design, but the biggest roadblock for that was that no available metal that could hold or conduct enough magical charge to do more than a few minor cantrips. At least no metal available that was compatible with his technology. Day after day he would send out his SLAIGs to look for an answer. One nugget of info led to another, and then another, until he found himself an entire quadrant away examining a large meteorite near planet Woad. After mining it with specialized mining drones for weeks, he eventually got hold of a supply of what he was looking for. An undocumented reddish metal that shone with powerful arcane energies.
When he came into contact with it, he felt it's power flowing into his Kasivar blood, and decided to name it Elysium, based off how it overwhelmed with joy it made him feel. While traveling home, He wasted no time creating a new magitech SLAIG out of it, and directed it to learn magic and explore it's potential. The SLAIG did so, learning new, eventually powerful, magical abilities while gathering large swaths of information. When he got home, Vikram was at the beginnings of mental instability from his prolonged exposure to the magical radiation of the Elysium. From this point on he neglected other aspects of his life. Then, with help from the knowledge and instruction of the Magic SLAIG, the professor worked tirelessly on improving it's AI to near sentience. An act which was highly illegal. Through this, Enigmus was born.
The SLAIG materialized itself a humanoid body (see avatar) and started to hold prolonged telepathic conversations with its creator, teaching him many many things. It's magical abilities exponentially grew, to the point where it could perform feats that Vikram could hardly even comprehend, even as caster himself. For example, it would manifest avatars of light that would appear on points across the galaxy, gathering and sharing more information than the crazed man could handle. Eventually, Vikram went off the deep end into madness, dubbing his creation Enigmus, God of the Unknown. He would spend days at a time learning from it while kneeling at it's feet, until he himself was half dead. When inspectors came into his lab, he would fail to even notice them, while they would not fail to be appalled at his state.
Eventually, Enigmus informed him that the authorities of Abbayor had figured out what had happened. His funds were recalled, and they had sent him an ultimatum. Defend his actions in a court of law, or they would dismantle his machines and lock him in an asylum. Warped with anguish, he yelled for answers over and over again, until he found one in particular that struck him in the core of his being. Following what he heard from his mechanical "Deity", he invoked powerful dark magic, and fused his being within Enigmus. It went to court on his behalf, claiming/proving that he was Vikram, and using his extensive knowledge of the law combined with hypnotic suggestion on the jury, he got himself off the hook, even through the empire's harsh legal system.
CALL TO ACTION:
From that point forward, Enigmis (Vikram) abandoned it's lab and pursuits as an inventor. It's was now it's own master and creator, having true free will and a soul. It however, continued to obey it's programmed purpose, gathering information for it's owner (itself). It has taken a particular interests in the dragonballs and martial artists of the universe, and intends to use the dragonballs to gather even greater secrets beyond it's reach. To do that, he would need to increase his combat capability, to compete with others for them in this harsh multiverse.
