It was a dark and cloudy night in South City, many homes had their lights off and many residents were in bed. The dark city would be quiet, tranquil, and nearly silent. Nearly silent, as there would be one remaining source of both light and sound. In the middle of the town would be a large white dome that was know to the public as "South Arena". It was a place that many martial artists would gather to train, practice, and participate in tournaments. This was what went on during the day of course, very few saw the events that unfolded at night. Several weeks ago, an infamous underground fight club called "The Black Glove" had accidentally been destroyed during a brawl between Thast and Yohei. Ever since the organization has had to find a new location to host their brutal, unregulated fights without city officials knowing. The "South Arena" was open to the public twenty four hours a day, what a time to exploit city taxes. For the past several weeks, Black glove members had been hosting licit fighting tournaments in the facility... Thast had only recently returned to earth from a few days voyage in space. He had gone to the moon to train his body and mind for the fights to come in his future. As his massive ship descended several miles outside of the large city, he would receive a notification on his smartphone: "Yo Thast! Get your ass down here man, the Black Golve is back in business... Well kind of. Anyway man we're hosting a tournament and we think it would be hella sick if you fought in the first round!" Thast would smirk. Another bout would be fun, and he could use the extra money. Why not? The earthling would arrive at the public building with a raised eyebrow. "Isn't this just like a public park? Can't like anybody walk in here?" Thast would speak out loud to himself. A hushed voice would speak back from a slightly opened door, "Yeah they could, but they're either to lazy or too stupid to check heh heh!" The voice from the bushes was Spike's, the announcer of the Black Glove fights. "Come on man get over here! Your fight starts in five minutes!" with that, the earthling would quickly walk into the building, he need to hurry, he was late after all. The inside of the building was quite clean, and had a vast amount of seating. All sorts of unruly punks and street thugs sat in the audience around him. Thast would walk into the center of the green and yellow mat. This must have represented the ring. Spike would clear his throat before he began to announce to the blood thirsty audience, "Welcome one and all to the first round of the new Black Gloves' killer instinct tournament! You wanna see action? Blood? Gnarly KOs? You've come to the right place. Place your bets now as I introduce our first fighter: Thast Rowens! A classic favorite, and the guy who accidentally destroyed our last building!" Fixing his glasses a bit, Spike would turn to the other side of the arena to introduce Thast's opponent. "And for his competitor, a real new rising star: BEAT!""Alright boys, I want a good bloody smack down! FIGHT!" BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

The whole dangerous, underground fighting scene -really- wasn't Beat's type of shindig, but hey, crime was slow today. How else was he supposed to hone his skills? And it wasn't like things were illegal here, right? Shady, sure, but he didn't have any hardcore evidence to shut this place down. It was time for him to focus in the fight in front of him, shut out any distractions..that was always his biggest problem in training. So many things were running through his mind though, no matter how much he tried to block them out. Those blood curdling screams from the audience were sending shivers down his spine. These people were animals, and he honestly couldn't believe that a living, breathing person would PAY to watch people beat the shit out of each other. But then again, boxing was a thing for a reason. No time to freeze up Beat, this guy is VERY likely to beat the tar out of you if you slip up..and no way a place like this is willing to pay the medical bill. I'm starting to think a normal gym might've been a smarter idea..He shifted into his fighting stance, keeping himself light on his feet; the dual swords he wielded so proudly remained sheathed on his back as he found himself wanting to focus more on his unarmed combat for now. "LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!" He might've been afraid on the inside, but showing fear was the worst thing you could do in a fight. Even if this guy wasn't the average punk and crook that Beat usually fought, he'd still give it a hundred and ten percent. As soon as the words "FIGHT!" left that announcer's mouth, Beat flipped through the air, a barrage of kicks raining down his opponent. "HIDDEN OCTOPUS STYLE: EIGHT LEGGED FURY!"
Rule Two of a fight: Never let your opponent know all your tricks at the beginning. These goofy antics and dumb names for his attacks weren't just a way for him to showboat; underneath his dumb exterior was an intelligent fighter ready to use anyone's willingness to underestimate him to his advantage. All he needed to do was wait and try to exploit that opening. Easier said than done, but somehow Beat knew that this wasn't going to be very easy. He could sense that their was something far more than what Thast was showing, a hidden well of unimaginable power..he just wasn't sure how much it was exactly. Thast was ready for a fight, he had done this a couple times before. From what he could read right off the bat, this "Beat" guy had a much lower power level. Deciding to keep the fight fair, Thast would lower his power level to match his opponent's strength. While he hadn't suppressed himself this low in quite some time, it would still have to be done. There was something else to this whole fight too, Beat seemed to be both nervous and confident at the same time. That was quite a rare sight in the fighting scene, but would an asset for keeping oneself on edge throughout the battle. He would need to keep on his toes if he was going to compete with Thast after all. Even in his suppressed condition, if he landed an attack it would cause massive damage. At least it had always in the past. Then would come his opponent's war cry "Octopus Wha--" Thast would be caught within the onslaught of rapid kicks. He hadn't expected Beat to be so quick, and decisive. Calling out his attack's name was a bit strange, but who was Thast to judge, he called out his Kamehameha after all. As the attacks subsided, Thast would cough and spit on the arena floor. "Your good man, but lets see if you can keep up with me." Thast would smirk and flip in mid-air attempting to land a butterfly kick against Beat's right cheek. It was a flashy, high-risk, high-reward attack, one of Thast's signature attacks. Usually he couldn't use it because it was too flashy, but he could afford himself a bit of wiggle room in this fight. As Thast landed from the air, whether he managed to hit or not, he would follow up with a left hook directed at Beat's stomach! BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

He couldn't believe his was actually landing some of his attacks. The raw adrenaline from this fight was pumping through him, and all the nervousness that left him unsure of himself had eroded completely; now Beat was in the zone and ready to bring this thing all the way home! Thast responded to Beat's aerial assault with one of his own, but the telegraphed nature of the attack allowed him to avoid it with a nimble hop to the left. Good thing too, it actually looked like that kick would hurt like hell! Unfortunately, his dodging ensured he was wide open for a powerful punch to the gut. "Oof! I'm gonna feel that in the morning, but don't think that's all I've got!"He quickly responded with a blindingly fast barrage of punches, faster than most eyes could perceive. Even the most perceptive of people could only discern this move as a mass of eight arms moving in to pulverize him, which was why most of his techniques were octopus themed in naming. "Be on ya guard! Ten Star Octopus Barrage of DOOM!"With the crowd cheering him on with every crazy movement of his that he made, he could see why someone would fight here so often. The environment was addicting, to say the least. But, he had a duty in the outside world he had too attend too, and figured he'd just let his opponent keep the title of champion as long as he could. Beat figured he seemed like a cool guy after all. No threats of breaking him into two pieces, killing him, or eating him? He was already more normal than half the psychopaths in here. "SHINING LARIAT!"It seemed like Beat was launching a never-ending onslaught of attacks, ending his combo of punches with a powerful clothesline meant to take Thast down to the ground and crack the floor beneath it. Even if it missed, the beat would keep going as he'd follow it up with a final roundhouse meant to send his opponent soaring into the air with the raw power behind it. "AND FINISH!" Was he more of a pro at fighting than he figured? Beat walked into this arena thinking he was going to get stomped into a bloody pulp, and here he was landing hits on the champion himself! Sure, he didn't think he was taking the title tonight, but that was definitely a confidence booster for someone new to fighting in general. Plus, it didn't hurt that the crowd was totally eating up him naming his attacks. Maybe he could come here more often. Just a little. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Thast's first attack had missed his intended target, and the second didn't look like it hurt Beat all that much. In truth, Thast thought a couple rounds in the ring with this guy would be a cakewalk. Sure, he was holding back, but this guys could still throw punches out as quickly as Dain and Khoshai. It was really a sight to behold. If the fight kept going on like this, he may just have to increase his power level. The thought crossed his mind, but he was having a bit too much fun trying to trade blows. "So, it looks like I'm going to have to put some effort in."Just as Thast was about to prepare yet another round of attacks, a series of powerful blows would come his way. It was that pesky octopus strike technique! Fists began to fly in all directions, but Thast would begin to slowly slip each punch. The knuckles of his foe nearly landing each blow, only to his the air near by. In a usual situation, Thast would have been clobbered, but he had begun to understand this guys fighting style. That was the first step to victory after all. Eventually the near endless round of blows had finished, and Thast decided to show off a bit. Jumping back a few feet from Beat, he would raise his left arm in the man's direction. "You fight well on a physical battlefield. Lets see how your mind holds up on a mental one..." Though he did not throw a fist, Thast would attempt to inflict a powerful psychic attack against Beat. If he could tax his foe's mind enough, he may win the match yet! If he failed however, there would likely be a large gap in his defenses... BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

Of course this battle wasn't going to go as easily as he thought he would have. Thast wouldn't have been the champion if he didn't bother putting up any resistance, after all. All of his attacks were avoided with a level of grace and finesse that was completely unknown to Beat, that inspired him to do better with his martial arts for sure. How could he be moving like that? It was certainly months, maybe years of practice put to use. Would he ever get to that level? He was starting to wonder how much potential really laid dormant within him. Savior of the Universe. It was a title he was aiming for ever since he picked up his first comic book, and now that he was in his first fight that truly pushed him, Beat was starting to realize it wasn't just the wins that defined a hero, it was their losses too. Even if he lost in the end, as long as he learned from the experience, everything would be alright. Suddenly, a strange sensation penetrated his mind. Sure, Thast mentioned his mental defenses, but he didn't take that seriously! A splitting headache wracked his head, and while he managed to stave off some of the psionic assault off through sheer willpower, there was no denying that it hurt like hell. But if a little pain was enough to scare him off, he'd be another one of those drones sitting in their little office chairs working themselves to death! "It's gonna take a lot more than that to put me down, sucka! And you know what they say about the pen being mightier than the sword...well, I think it's mightier than your FISTS, too! SEVEN PENCILS OF DEATH!"And in a swift, fluid motion, several pencils were drawn from his pockets. It seemed ridiculous that Beat would carry so many around, much less use them in a fight, but with ki, anything could pack a punch. They flew through the air, each one surrounded by a blue, almost fiery aura that shined even brighter than the sun. "Let's see how you deal with that ultimate technique, huh!?"Despite how awesome the attack looked and the name, it definitely wouldn't hurt too much, or at least leave any permanent injuries; he made sure of that. He only hoped that his attacks could land its mark this time, exploiting any openings that Thast might have left behind. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Beat looked like he had manage to shake off Thast's mental attack without too much trouble. Usually he would be disappointed, but this meant he was getting better at his psychic attacks. This time he had actually managed to harm his foe a bit. The man's resilience was certainly something to behold, he managed to keep his cool through the whole ordeal and looked as though he was throwing a counter attack. Thast would quickly bring up his two arms, crossing them to guard against whatever attack flew his way. What would it be this time? Another round of octopus punches? No, his opponent had shouted something about pencils. "Pencils of wha--?" Thast's guard would drop, but his aura would remain to guard his body against the incoming attack. As the pencils would touch the aura, they would suddenly dissolve to ash before both fighters eyes. Thast would legitimately scratch his head and ask "You seriously just threw pencils at me? What did you expect to happen?" he would burst into a sudden spout of laughter, and the audience would join in as well. "ok ok ok, lets get back to it man. I didn't know I was fighting a comedian until now."After that, Thast was really having fun. Nothing beat a good laugh mid-fight at his opponent's expense. If those writing utensils had connected, perhaps they would have done damage? Thast wasn't able to take anything too seriously at this point, and decided to go back to the basics. He would disappear from sight, and reappear behind beat. "Ya know. I think the fist is mightier than both!" Thasy would then attempt to deliver a side kick to the man's right side. Hopefully it would provide him an opening for his second attack. He would stretch his hand outward and then fire a small blue ki blast at Beat's back. Getting behind his opponent was a signature of Thast's, he had done it a few times in the past, but this time it would be vital. BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

Well, that backfired on him completely. Somehow, he figured that all those attacks would've landed and he would look like a total badass. Instead, he was looking like a total dumbass! "W-Wait, man, what!? That totally should've worked..well, I guess it's time for Plan Dos then.."After such an upsetting backfire, it might've been hard for some people to jump back into the fight, but Beat wasn't one of those types. He steeled his resolve, preparing to defend himself for whatever was coming his way: a kick flying right towards his side, and it looked absolutely brutal. It smashed into Beat, knocking him away, but he readied himself for the follow-up attack. In a swift motion, his aura burst forth as he deftly moved himself out of the way of the ensuing attacks, leaping right behind Thast. "I've still got some pretty awesome tricks up my sleeve bro, don't underestimate me! Seven Pronged Frisbee of Doom!"Oddly enough, unlike his last attack, he didn't have the actual ridiculous item. Instead, a disc formed on his hand, and Beat would chuck it with all of his might, the technique attempting to strike Thast twice in quick succession before it dispersed into the air. It might not have done a ton of damage, but it would definitely help give Beat the breather he needed. "Keep ya eyes on the birdy, Punchy!"Punchy? He was out of cool, insulting names! Thast had managed to land a decent blow on his opponent, and the crowd was really fired up from all of this. They could fight a bit longer, get the people even more excited, but Thast had a busy night ahead if he was going to fight in an entire tournament. A busy night meant he would have to exert himself later on, so he decided it would be time to end things in a few moments, but not before peaking Beat's interest. "Well, you may have noticed that I've been holding back. My power level directly matches your after all. Since you've been such a good sport, before this brawl is over I'll show you my true power." This exposition would be cut short as Beat appeared behind him. That monologue made him careless! The next thing he heard would be the ridiculous name of an energy attack heading right for him, "A Frisbee? I didn't know you wanted to play catch!"Thast would reach out his arm and catch the disk mid-air, the crowd would gasp at the display of power. Chuckling to himself for a moment, Thast would wag his left index finger at Beat "Alright then, catch!" He would then chunk the energy attack directly back at his opponent attempting to finish him off right then and there. It would be sad if Beat never got to see his true power, but he still needed to win the match nonetheless. If Beat did manage to survive, Thast would decide it was time to take it up a notch however. Pain was coursing through his body, and his suspicions of Thast hiding the full extent of his power was confirmed. But, even if things were looking pretty bleak on the whole winning thing, the crowd seemed to enjoy the way Beat fought. And, more importantly, Beat was enjoying the fight too. He was learning a ton from it! But as they say, all good things would eventually come to an end; his attack was redirected back to him, but his nimble nature allowed him to avoid the inital path of the frisbee. Of course, he still had the explosion to worry about. "I'm still not out of this yet!"Bracing himself for impact, he shielded himself from the worst of the explosion's force, but some light burn marks still singed his elbows. Quick on his toes though, he retaliated once more with some attacks with his own. "Come on, let's see that full power of yours champ!"The crowd erupted into cheers, eager to see the full extent of Thast's power as well. A volley of several ki blasts rained down on his opponent, exploding and cracking the ground underneath them with an impressive amount of force behind them. The repelled energy disk would be dodged, but not fully as the explosion would seemingly catch Beat in the blast. The crowd was really loving this match so far, popcorn was being thrown around drinks were spilling. It was a real hoot! That was when beat asked Thast to show off his full power, and the crowd seemed to agree. If he were to power up here and now, things wouldn't be very quiet. The cops would likely show up to find the source of the disturbance, and try to break up the fight. This meant he would have a limited amount of time to power up and finish off Beat. It would be tough, but not impossible. "You want to see my full power? Well knowing I destroyed the last building I fought in?"Before he could begin to power up however, a shower of blue ki blasts would surround him and detonate. This guy had manage to hurt him yet again! Beat was no ordinary fighter, but he would still have to deal with Thast at full power in a few moments. "Alright man. Don't say I didn't warn you!"Thast would clench his fists, and bite down hard. Power inside him would begin to boil and burst outward. His aura would flash the colors black, white, and blue. Suddenly the stadium's lights would shut down under the pressure, and then promptly turn back on. Now Thast was at full strength, Yin the spirit of darkness would whisper in his ear, "Now the fun begins! Show him our move..." The earthling would cup his hands and bring them to his right side. A gray orb of energy would appear between the two as he slowly began to chant "Yin, Yang Kamehameha!" He would quickly brig forth both of his hands at Beat causing the gray energy to explode towards the man's direction. If this attack somehow missed, it would likely destroy a large portion of the building, Thast would have to be careful about his aim. He certainly didn't want to harm any by standers. The sheer power Thast was radiating was ridiculous; Beat was thinking he might've bit off more than he could chew. Beads of sweat formed on his head, as his body quivered in response to the almighty power he was witnessing. Was this fear? He couldn't even make any clever quips or the like, stunned by such overwhelming strength. But, once he saw Thast charging up a devastating attack, he managed to snap out of his stone like trance and prepare himself for one last clash. The beam of rising energy seared through the air, coming right at Beat; there was no doubt about it, if he got hit by that type of move, the match was probably over. "You can't mess this up Beat, or you're through..!"It was nothing short of a miracle that he managed to pull off this dodge in the first place, barreling over the beam and landing right in front of his opponent. The ensuing explosion from the attack managed to vaporize a large part of the building to the chargin of the owner, but it seemed like no one was hurt in the attack. "Of course I wanted to see what you could do, would I be a good hero if I just ran at the first sign things aren't going my way!?"As he spoke, he launched a barrage of lightning quick kicks. He was still gonna give it the most he could! BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Just when he though tings were all over, the Kamehameha missed and blew a school bus sized hole in the side of the building. That would cause a few house lights to turn on. Dust from the destroyed portion of the wall would litter the ground below. There would surly be noise complaints at this rate, the police may even come to investigate soon. The earthling needed to wrap things up before that happened, but would suddenly come under the assault of multiple flying kicks from Beat! Usually, they would pose a threat, but in his full powered state he would manage to dodge them with ease. "Well, I never expected you to dodge that attack! Your quite the fighter. The only question is, could you do it again?"Thast would jump back several feet to create more distance between the two of them. He needed to time this next attack just right to keep up with Beat's speed. Cupping his hands together in the same manner as before, the earthling would start the familiar chant again "Yin, Yang..." The crowd would begin to whistle and become even more unruly as it begun yet again. "Kamehameha!" The gray wave of explosive energy would fire yet again, Thast had only hoped it would be enough to finish the man off. "It's Over!" BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

It was over. Even if Beat blocked an attack like that, it would have knocked him clean out. All he could do was brace himself and hope for the best, that he -wouldn't- have such a lengthy hospital stay. Sure, it sucked that he lost, but on the bright side? He managed to learn invaluable combat experience that would definitely help him in the future.
"Uh..? Octopus Block?"
Of course, the legendary Octopus Block did nothing to stop an attack far above his paygrade, and it smashed into him with complete and utter disregard for the silly names he gave his techniques. In an instant, Beat was knocked on the floor with little grasp of his bearings, barely clinging to consciousness.
"G-Good..fight..I c-can't believe I lasted more than a second against your full power..haha.."
After that, he drifted away, out like a light. It was pretty bad luck that he got paired up with the champion himself, but Beat wasn't much of a complainer. Hopefully they could fight in the future, because he genuinely seemed like a nice guy that could give him some nice pro tips on improving himself. But, for now, Beat was in the middle of dreaming about scantily clad anime women. Hopefully no one ruined it.
