"Thank you!" Legume politely exclaimed to the hot dog vendor, receiving a full complect for today's lunch - three hot dogs, a bag of fries and a Satan Cola! The last one weirded the Saiyan out upon first sight - isn't Satan a some sort of important word for Earthlings? The moustached man on the bottle was, as Legume assumed, the "Satan" which the name was referring to - so what kind of person just calls himself Satan, then?
Eh, who cares. Legume pushed the first hot dog into his mouth, munching half of it away in a single bite which, at first glance, wouldn't even seem to be humanly possible. But that's Saiyans for ya, and they weren't the type to wait and eat their food like normal people. Even those who ended up here in time machines from thousands of years in the future.
Legume calmly strolled through the streets of Abbayor, surprisingly empty and quiet this afternoon - perhaps because of the sudden heat wave which forced many to retreat to their homes. The climate engineers in the skies of the pkanet were already working to set the temperature back to normal, but until then, to the retreat of their homes the people went.
Good. This meant that the chance of someone or something suddenly jumping out to harass Legume was completely miniscule.

She had a young man buy from her a a hot dog, who seemed so, so vaguely familiar to her. But why? She didn't question it for too long as he bought a hot dog from her and she had to do her job, but once he left, she was left thinking about it. Until it hit her. He was a guy she failed to prevent going back in time back when she was still a Kai! She got in quite a lot of trouble for that back in the day, but she was glad she was no longer part of the clown fiesta that was the divine order. Still, she was incredibly curious about this man. Had the Creator gotten to erasing his alternate timeline already? Probably not. She wondered how the Creator, being as immensely powerful as he is, wasn't able to forsee this, or at least, somehow design existence in a way that wasn't so vulnerable to having mere mortals being able to create devices that can create entire universes via alternate timeline creation. It was crazy. However, she had faith that through that "trick" of creating a whole new universe through time travel she would be able to eventually create her own universe in the way that she envisions it. After all, imperfect time travel created ripples that causes differences between the resulting timelines - she wanted a way to control that accurately. But for now, her universe was but a mere little pocket dimension - the Dream Dimension. And she wanted to test it, and she really wanted to test it on someone who wasn't native to this timeline, to see the effects. She just hoped that with what little power she has left after renouncing to her divinity, she would be able to do it. It was time. She got a piece of hotdog wrapping and start to scribble on it arcane formulas and calculations in order to figure out how to do her next move - after renouncing her godly powers, all that she had left was vast and eldritch knowledge on the functioning of time. Once satisfied with the results, her eyes bolted to look at the man, finding him still walking, thankfully.
She unsheathed her blade and with her insane speed, she flash-stepped next to him and via reading the flow of time itself to make uncannily accurate moves, and attempted to use her trusted hooked blade Baitbaiter to drag them both up to the roof of a building in a mere instant, in an attempt to make their exchange more private - but there was more to the strike than merely trying to carry him with her. Knowing that he was something foreign to this timeline, she attempted to use that to her advantage to weaken him, striking him in such a way that would destabilize his chronological presence here via her time expertise. This meant that the chance of someone or something suddenly jumping out to harass Legume was completely miniscule.
Oh how quickly that thought turned completely obsolete. Not even a hundred meters passed between the Saiyan buying himself a couple hotdog, fries and a drink, before he suddenly got assaulted by the same vendor who he had just bought the hotdog from. Out of nowhere, the woman drew a sword and slashed straight at him - and, with his hands tied by food and the time for a counter being miniscule, Legume went for what he had available.
One of his hotdogs, which he suddenly raised forward as a makeshift shield against the slash. Obviously, the weapon cut through it without a problem and slashed across his forearm while it was at it, but the hotdog dampened most of the slash and, thankfully, only mostly just lifted Legume into the air alongside the mysterious attacker, while also leaving much of his arm feeling... weird.
The fact that the hotdog he held in his hands got time-distorted into a small heap of grains and pig meat informed him instantly that the feeling was not a good sign.
"Hey!" Legume exclaimed, instinctively sending his now freed right hand forward as a slap towards the woman's cheek, which immediately sparked an another kind of response from him. "Oh god, I'm so sorry! What in the world are you doing, though?!"

The experience in the Dream Dimension wouldn't be the same if he was aware that she was going to send him in there, she wanted the purest of experiences, just like if a newborn would be spawned within the new universe she envisions. If she just told him what was going on, she would lose that. But before she could put him in there, his soul needed to be weakened - her portal was only so big, and only so much soul-matter could pass through at a time, or be clogged.
She didn't want to outright kill him though, and she figured that she could tell him that. "Consider me a fan, Legume - and this my challenge! Fight me!" she called out, already aware of his name due to his condition as an anathema to the Time Nest's purpose, as she continued to attempt to push him further up to the roof and position him there with a series of further strikes with the blunt edge of her blade - managing to do so flawlessly due to her having time-read his movements and exploiting its flaws for uncanny precision. She was hoping that letting him know that she knew his name would keep him interested in her and this fight, because he could just try to flee, and being ki-blind as she was, she could have a hard time catching him if he did so. But ki-blind as she was, she could still feel an immense amount of spiritual pressure coming from him.
Trying to further gain his interest and now on the roof, she would sheathe her still-time-enchanted hooked sword again and then pose proud with her hands on her hips. "Let me introduce myself. I am Red Herring, my boy." she admitted. "It's only good manners to let you know the identity of the person who is going to defeat you today." "Now, get ready!" she then prompted, putting her hand on her scabbard and in a flash, appearing a few meters across him, leaving a trail of flame in her wake and echoing of what seemed to be the ticking of clockwork, as she tickled a whiff of time to achieve a short burst of insane velocity.

The woman introduced herself as Red Herring - quite an odd name for a person, wasn't it? - and stated that she is a big fan of Legume, thus requests a match with her idol. Out of nowhere. In the middle of a city. With a weapon which dissolved the hot dog in his hands in a single stroke. In the midst of it all, the fact that this hotdog vendor somehow knew his name was the least surprising part of it all.
Red's attacks came suddenly and swiftly - but this time, Legume was prepared, unsheathing his weapon and deflecting one incoming sword slash with his massive greatsword before suddenly activating the Time Skip technique. Even in his base form, he could tell that the difference between them was enormous - is using an assassination technique really the best option here?
Doesn't matter. They knew what they were signing up for. In the fraction of a second which Legume had, the Saiyan drove his fist towards Red's ribs before finishing off the combination by sending his elbow straight towards the woman's neck. As soon as Time Skip faded, returning the flow of time to normal, the Saiyan spoke up:
"Alright. Let's say... that I believe you. If we're on explanation hour, then would you mind explaining what the hell you just did to my hot dog?"
Whether or not Legume received a question, he would continue his combination with a dual slash from his greatsword, a horizontal one and finally a vertical one.

"W-what?" she wondered, finding that she had missed. Unbelievable, she had never missed before. Who was this guy? Had she underestimated him? She wanted to detect his ki so that she could become aware of his powerlevel, but she was blind to ki, so all she really had to gauge his power was her impression of him, and he didn't seem all that strong, didn't he? Then, she got a hit in the ribs, sending her spinning in the air for her to then regain her footing on the rooftop, sliding across a few meters before stopping, and from her wound, acidic purple sludge and what seemed to be oozing tentacles sprayed out from the point of impact, for her to then focus, glaring into the ground, to suck all of that gunk back into herself and return to her normal looks. This was bad. She never expected her to have lost this much power from renouncing her divinity. She coughed out more purple slime and then straightened up. She considered fleeing, but she might as well try to finish what she had started, she believed, because any price was cheap for testing her creation on such a unique and rare being as he. Besides, if the few records she had read about him where true - those directly related to the time-travel incident itself - he didn't seem like a bad guy on the surface, which gave her confidence in continuing to attempt to give this fight a sporting angle.
And he seemed interested, asking questions - good. Hopefully she could entertain him enough in order to end up defeating him, she believed. Attempting to further taunt him into staying in battle, she would put her hands on her hips and declare. "I'm a hot dog vendor! Did you expect anything less from a master of the buns and wieners? Tsk tsk. There is no mystery in the bread for me, no secrets in the steamed hams that escapes my grasp!" She would then break out a soft chuckle. "...I kid. But yes. There is indeed a secret to it huhu - wouldn't you want to know? I'll tell you if you defeat me, Legume. Or if I defeat you! En garde my child!" And with that, she threw herself back at him with her blade again, but instead of accelerating herself, she slowed down time around herself.

Thankfully, the Time Skip strike achieved the best of both worlds - it successfully struck its target, while at the same time not outright killing them in a single shot. What was highly worrying was that, upon strike, a burst of gunk and purple acid suddenly shot out. Legume had to cross his arms and take the spray head-on, it trying to burrow into his skin before the Saian's aura finally forcefully ejected it away.
This, alongside Red's continued teasing about the secrets she was hiding, as well as the unnatural way she suddenly charged towards him, all indicated to Legume that he was dealing with something... inhuman. The Saiyan was quick to register that everything around them suddenly grinded to a halt - the dust and rubble picked up by the fight slowed down as if life itself had reached for the pause button, or they were in the middle of an intense movie cutscene. This didn't appear to be the same as the Time Skip technique...
Regardless, Legume activated it anyway, using the fraction of a second granted to him to roll to the side and thus avoid a yet another one of Red's slashes, while sending his free left hand forward to make a dual rib strike at the woman's ribcage.
"Why do you call me 'child'? You look nine years old, at best." Legume spoke up as soon as the Time Skip faded, swinging his greatsword forward for a yet another dual horizontal-vertical slash.

Herring managed to dodge a few of the hits by spinning in the air like a wild yoyo and retreating, but was still caught with one of the vertical strikes, which quickly regenerated in a flash of flailing tentacles and goop. Once out of melee range again, she narrowed her eyes towards the time-traveler. She was starting to catch onto what his style of combat was - somehow, via these missed attacks, he was creating a new kind of opportunity in the future, some kind of investment strategy. Was it via his understanding of time? Maybe some kind of mutation or anomaly? She didn't know. But it made her all the more weary to avoid his attacks instead of just blocking them, which would cut the temporal circuitry she was hypothesizing that his technique was based on. "Just habit I guess, huhu. Or I'm just being edgy - you know how it is with kids these days, right?" she replied, not really giving an immediate answer, milking out time before setting her local chronal state into overtime and flashing past him again with blazing speed. "But, alright." she then chuckled, turning back to him, aware that he might've already seen the purple goop and her weird powers enough to heavily suspect what was going on. "I'm the former Kai of Time, child. But, do not worry. I'm not looking to do anything bad to you, I'm not longer part of the divine order, so the fact that time-travel is illegal matters nothing to me now. And yes, mortals generally don't know this because we just don't tell them, which is pretty much asking for these kind of mishaps to happen, don't you think?" She rose a finger. " What?!" Okay, so, the good thing is that all the suspicion which Legume held about the identity of the attacker had been valid. He really was not fighting your ordinary hot dog vendor. The bad thing is... he is fighting the former Supreme Kai of Time?! There is a Supreme Kai of Time?! And they're here for him?! The surprise was so great that Legume even forgot that he was in the middle of a battle for a second, promptly getting struck and sliced by one of Red Herring's sword slashes, a deep and irritating cut now left on his torso. This did bring the Saiyan's mind back to the battle, and as the former Kai was now asking him on how he gained such ability to control time, Legume opted to showcase a little trick of his which he picked up at the very last weeks of his Time-Skip training. The Saiyan stopped moving. As soon as the rest of Red Herring's attacks came, they suddenly found themselves passing through Legume, as if he wasn't there at all. After all, all the "time" which a user of this technique "skips" has to go somewhere, right? Usually they just become distortions in spacetime, littering it for a while before normally fading away, but experienced Time Skip wielders are able to collect it into a personal subspace into which they can retreat to turn intangible. Legume's intangible body flickered from sight, reappearing a few meters away, where the Saiyan began to speak: " I suppose I've been caught red-handed, haven't I? You're right, I did travel through time once... and it was a one way trip. Unfortunately. As for this technique..." Legume sheathed his weapon. " Well. To be absolutely mundane, I was studying in the Military Academy for my second year, I had to pick one of many available additional modules for my course... and Time-Skip Training seemed interesting. So now I am here. Time-skipping and pausing to victory." In this intangible form, he could not attack anyone physically. He was, however, able to do this. The former Kai of Time would simply pass through the Saiyan, unaware of what kind of technique he was using until he reappeared elsewhere and explained what it was. "Time Skip, huh?" she replied, to then facepalm in embarrassment. She should've known. As the former Kai of Time, it was a shame that she didn't know what this technique was, but without the crutch that was her ability to sense ki and her other divine powers, she was frankly totally blind to a lot of things - such as what this man's power level even was. Herring was hit again by his attacks, unable to properly dodge everything that came her way, but she composed herself again and held her stance, facing him. People learned stuff like Time Skip so casually in the timeline that he came from? Had humanity advanced that much in the future? Well, well. That could really pose a problem to the divine hierarchies, she thought, and chuckled to herself. Because it meant that time travel technology should be similarly easily achievable, and unsurprisingly, people like Legume coming to the wrong timeline. And If that was prophecy that this man had about the future, she started to wonder if she should start to help humanity reach that horribly Time Kai-annoying state of having time fuckery so available. But, she wouldn't entertain herself too much with those thoughts - she had a fight at hand, and a really hard one. Back when she was divine, her foes would've already been defeated a good while ago, but apparently, either this guy was insanely strong or she was incredibly weak, and she was only sure of the latter. "Interesting, interesting, child." she mentioned, as everything seemed to slow down again as she glacially motioned her blade towards his heart by instinct, but then changing her aim to his elbow. "The humanity that you allude to, this future humanity, seems fascinating. What else has been achieved related to time?"

The personal subspace created by Legume's stored Time Skip time was brittle and fragile - thus, after firing off his Flash Fist Crush, Legume dipped out of it and materialized back in the normal world. Only to instantly get struck by Red's time-slowing fighting style, falling to a feint and subsequently receiving a slash to his arm - which forced Legume to let out a wince and make a few steps back.
As much damage as he had been dealing on the former Kai of Time with his Time Skip, Legume could tell that he was in somewhat dire straits as well. The peculiar, time-eroding fighting style which Red employed against him was severely draining into his stamina, and though the Saiyan got out of the way of a few of the most dangerous looking blows, he could tell that if he did not finish this fight quickly, it might end up tipping the other way.
"You're the Kai of Time, shouldn't you already be aware of that?" Legume replied upon being questioned on what the future looked like, then sent his fist forward for a yet another Flash Fist Crush, a burst of invisible ki aiming to strike Red in her chest cavity and burrow into it to form a moderately sized hole. "I presume insight into the Universe at any point in its history is a part of absolute control over time." Not that he knew what the Supreme Kai of Time does or even that such a position exists...
After his brief explanation, Legume charged forward again, not even activating his Time Skip this time and instead sending two wide horizontal slashes with his greatsword.

Herring took the slashes, flying across the roof and ricocheting off its floor as Legume's strikes continued to hit her, but recovered her stance again and flew up above him, putting the sun behind her. She believed that it was soon time to end this - he seemed injured enough. She just hoped that this gamble would do. "I'm not, actually." she replied. "I didn't look into it at the time - amusingly, I'm pretty much only as human and fallible as you are - but now that you bring it up, assuming that I believe that I could, wouldn't that mean that we have no free will? Think about it, Legume. If you're only going to do whatever my script of what the future says says that you're going to do, you are not truly free now are you?" "And for that..." she stated. "I aim to make amends to fix the world. - well, the universe. We live in such a horridly imperfect and improvised travesty, and it could've been done a lot better, don't you think. Well, perhaps not. But in time, I believe you will." "For you see, Legume..." she started off, as her blade started to shine and 'glitch' in its hilt, as she started to charge up her final attack. "I believe that all beings should have their own true free will, something which isn't achievable if everyone is locked in the determinism of time. Volition would be merely an illusion, your choices wouldn't really matter because you never actually chose. You were just a puppet of the system." "I seek to free everyone, to cut their strings, and to give all sentient beings the reality they deserve, child. That is why I left the divine order, that is why I am here today." she added. It was almost as if Red had waited for Legume to say what he just did - because instantly, without a tinge of hesitation, the fallen Kai of Time went on a long tirade about how all which they were dealing with was denying their free will and thus inherently unjust. If all of time had already been determined and kept in check by the gods, then what is there to say about everyone's free will? How much does it matter if everything has already been decided? Legume was no philosopher, nor did he ever consider such a dilemma before, but he was willing to stop and debate Red on that. Or, at least, point out that he didn't actually know how his travel to the past worked. If he accidentally created an alternate timeline with it, then wouldn't it mean that he actually does have the power to change something, and thus manifest his free will, because, depending on what actions he makes, the history after him may turn out radically different? But no, Red moved on to the attack, the blade of her weapon glimmering in the bright sun and reflecting straight upon his face. Despite the impending temporary blindness, Legume raised his weapon to defend himself regardless - immediately when the blades connected, however, the Saiyan suddenly witnessed everything around him distort and fade away, before he finally popped down... somewhere else. Which, at first glance, appeared exactly like the city he had just stood in a few seconds ago. Except, it was now completely barren and empty. Legume sheathed his weapon. What kinda technique is that damn Kai pulling on him this time? He already has to deal with all the lingering effects from her peculiar weapon... except, he was no longer feeling ill or like his insides were trying to rip him apart from inside. God damn it, reeeally wish I was back in my time again, everything is just a lot easier back the-Which is exactly what he received on a silver platter. Watching in awe, Legume witnessed the dimension distort and reshape in front of his eyes, rebuilding itself into a dense, loud, endless and so, so familiar boulevard. Despite it technically being night, the sky was as bright as day, showing a ringworld constructed around a cluster of stars and black holes and stretching for light-years on end. Instantly, fifty different languages and fifty different scents bombarded the air, the sheer vastness and density of the Galactic Core before one's eyes liable to overwhelm any new visitor at first glance. For Legume, however, this sight only meant one thing. Home. Home.
How did I... get here?..

Red, once the young man had been pulled into her dimension, took a moment to just collapse onto her back, splayed out on the ground. It had been a hard battle, but she had defeated him. Just in time too - if we was going to continue with how he had been fighting until now, he was sure to be dead, she believed. She inhaled deeply, calming herself. "The battle is over." she said to herself, still quite in disbelief that she had achieved what she had just done. ---*---
After a short break, she too slipped herself into her Dream Dimension, curious to see what Legume would do with it - that was the whole point of this after all. And within here, she formed herself into her original shape, as it was a lot more comfortable than the energy-saving infantile form that she tended to go around in. As she fell down to where he would've been dropped to and the world's eldritch geometry started to slither around her until she arrived to where he "was" in this spaceless space, she found herself... in the human world - but vastly altered.
Trees seemed to have been replaced with neon substitutes, mode had changed to something more synthetic, and technology was everywhere.
She chuckled, endeared, realizing the obvious. He must've been homesick, the poor thing.
"Hello, Legume." she would then state, trying to get his attention, and he would be able to see her behind a hot dog stand - the same one as she had been standing behind back in realspace. She would wave at him with a cheery smile. "It's me, Red Herring. Want a hot dog? It's on the house." she would add, pulling out a fresh and steaming one, and adding the same condiments that she had put for him as the time before.
"This is... Your home, isn't it?" she asked with a chuckle, hoping that his own memory was good enough to keep up this reconstruction around him. She looked around, fascinated. "...The future Earth..." she stated.

Legume wandered and stumbled across the expansive boulevard for a few seconds, his wonderous eyes glancing from bright neon sign to bright neon sign, all intaking the sight of the home he had once lost and finally magically regained - until a voice called out to him from behind. A familiar voice. One which he had been hearing for a while during the past... ten minutes?
Red. And she was back to being a hot dog stand owner, offering Legume the delicacy - even though such a thing as "hot dogs" did not even exist in Legume's time, which indicated to him better than anything that what he was witnessing wasn't actually... real. Regardless, the Saiyan picked up the hot dog offered and took a large bite, listening to the fallen Kai of Time explain where he was standing.
"Oh, no, Red, this isn't Earth..." Legume replied after finishing his bite, with a wide smile on his face, as he looked across the boulevard yet again. Hell, it was even slightly offensive to call his home world anywhere near the equivalent of that planet full of uncultured superstitious rednecks, but he opted to let the matter slide. "This is the Galactic Core. The capital of the Galactic Federation with trillions of inhabitants... and where I was born, too. A few light-years away from here, but on this ringworld regardless."
Legume took a glance towards the fallen Kai. "You like what you see? Or do you want to throw me back to miserable past I'm stuck in already?"

"The Galactic Core?" she replied, holding her chin and looking to a side, trying to remember what that was. "That space station near that, uh... Black hole? That's this place?"
She had mostly been concerned with Earth's affairs given how much importance it seemed to always gather in the grand scheme of things, so she wasn't too familiar with the Galactic Core - which was currently just a small blip in comparison to Earth's immense weight in history.
"I see." she added, and nodded. "I guessed wrong, heh. Anyways - why did you come to Earth then from your homeplace?"
"And yes, I do like it. It looks wonderful." she chuckled and took a bite of hotdog. "And yeah, I could send you back if you want. Or you can stay here for as long as you'd like. Up to you, really."
She tilted her had slightly "What would you like?"
Now that she had managed to place him within here, it was mostly now his show. Her interest was seeing what he chose to do in this place, and to see if his presence caused any anomalies. And so far, the dreamspace seemed to be handling it pretty well, no weird bugs or glitches so far. She had been worried that a time-displaced being like himself might've screwed up with the arcane circuitry of her work here, but apparently she had nothing to be concerned about. Still, she would continue this experiment, and see what else could happen. Just in case.
"I'll be here if you need anything." she said, and waited behind her hot dog cart and munching down on a bunned sausage. Curious if she could make something that would be convincing for him, she discretely willed a few more people into the space, popping out of stores or turning across corners, clad with similar fashion to the other people she had seen here.

"Trust me, if I had any clue how my jump to the fast worked, including why I ended up on Earth rather than the Core, I'd have already found a way to get back there..." was all Legume explained to Red upon being questioned on why he ended up on Earth instead of somewhere in the Galactic Core. That's simply how it worked. Perhaps the scientist who created the portal wanted to travel to Earth specifically, for whatever reason? Now was far, far too late to raise such questions.
The Saiyan placed his hands into his pockets, glancing to the boulevard once more. Clearly, the Kai of Time was meddling with the dimension yet again. More and more people were popping into existence, some of whom even appeared somewhat familiar. He's got some time to kill, and it hardly looked like time was going to pass in this dimension anyway. Which is where the girl asked him on whether or not he wants to leave now or stay for as long as he likes. A reasonable question. Legume turned towards her and spoke:
"Give me a few hours, Red. I've got people to catch up with, but I don't want to live in an illusion. If this is just your creation... then they won't be real no matter what."
