It was around noon time where Thast was on earth, and today was an especially hot day. This was not because it was summer time, but because Thast was in a helicopter flying through a massive desert landscape. The sky was blue and clear, making this kind of travel easy. Looking out from his seat next to the pilot, the earthling would watch the vast expanse of desert begin to go by quickly. The landscape soon began to change, and more mountains would begin to appear, they were almost at south city. Thast was suppose to enter into a tournament there in order to earn a bit of zeni to help fund his organization. Truth be told, the sad little military bunch he ran with wouldn't stand a fighting chance without him, there were only a couple hundred others in their ranks, with low-tech weaponry at that. He hoped by fighting he might be able to upgrade the organization's arsenal, if he won of course.
Soon, the military-grade helicopter would reach the outskirts of the city and Thast would drop from fifty feet in the air to the ground. As he landed he would take note of the relatively large population of the city, it seemed as though there would be plenty of people in the audience for his fights. The young man would walk through town until he had reached the tournament's entrance, there he would see an official dressed in his usual referee attire. "Hey there. My name's Thast Rowens. I should be on the list..." the man would quickly flip through a brown notebook, and read off a few names before finding his "Ah, Thast! Your fight's just about to start." confused for a moment, Thast would raise an eyebrow and ask "Woah, I'm already fighting? isn't there suppose to be a preliminary round?" The referee would shake his head "Usually yes, but we do things differently here in South City. If you sign up, you get a one on one bout, that's just the way it works." Though he would have like to test his new strength on some weaker opponents, the earthling wouldn't complain too much. After all, it would just be a better challenge.
Within an hours time, it would be Thast's turn to step into the ring. An announcer would take center stage and introduce the two fighters. "Ladies and Gentlemen! welcome to the South City annual martial arts tournament! The wait is now over, and our very first round is about to begin! First I give you Thast Rowens, a relative newcomer to the South City fighting scene. Give this man a round of applause!" The crowd would let out a loud cheer as Thast walked onto the raised ring, but as he did, he wondered who his opponent might be...

Fighting in tournaments was a great way to root out Saiyans. The filthy monkeys loved nothing more than a dirty brawl, and any place there was a fighting tournament, it was almost guaranteed that there would be a few Saiyans through in the mix. How could they not be? They were some of the greatest fighters in the known universes. That is, until the Final Contingency, when Custodians such as herself were created. She was the pinnacle of the Tuffle race's greatest achievements, and on occasion, she liked to remind herself of this very fact. Tournaments were a bit tricky, however. No one knew her true identity, of course, but it was frowned upon for soldiers of the Galactic Empire to join such fighting contests. Not that she cared. She stepped onto the arena floor, making a slow beeline for her opponent, the man known as Thast Rowans. "Ladies and gentleman, his opponent... Papaya!" She paused a few yards away from Thast, staring the man down. Her pale green visage slid over his form, noting any visible signs of weakness while gauging his power level. It'd be boring if this fight ended too quickly. Once she got a good feel for his ability, she lowered her own power level to match his as close as possible. As Papaya walked menacingly towards him, thast would feel something in the pit of his stomach telling him there was more to her than met the eye. He would concentrate, trying to discern her power level and size up her capabilities. The look on her face simply told him she was a "no nonsense" kind of person, cold, calculative. It wasn't like he couldn't be this calculative himself, but he typically showed a bit more expression. The announcer would raise his arm in the air, and announce "Let the fight begin!" Thast would immediately begin by doing a series of back flips to create some distance between the two fighters. The longer he concentrated, the stranger the woman's power seemed. He couldn't tell exactly what she could do, or who she was, but he could not get a read on her to save his life. As he landed on the other side of the arena, he would enter a wide fighting stance and softly speak to himself "Yin, Yang. Do either of you feel that energy? Something's up with this chick..." a soft light feminine voice would respond inside the young man's mind "Something you may have failed to notice... Her power directly matches yours. She outclasses us. If we want to win we'll have to get creative..." this voice would soon disappear, and another more raspy and dark voice would take it's place "Yin is right, as much as I hate to admit it. Do something simple to test her capabilities, then we'll devise a plan..."
Now that he was at a safe distance, and had taken council from the spirits, it would be time to act. Thast would reach out with both arms and fire two ki blasts at Papaya. One of the bolts would be pure black, but the other would be white as snow. BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

He's... running away?Papaya frowned, lowering her guard as she watched Thast retreat via a series of back flips. This created a large gap of distance between them. It wasn't unusual for an opponent to retreat in order to gauge their foe. It was good battle sense, to be sure. She wondered if perhaps he could sense the immense power gap between them. Papaya sighed and began walking toward him. There was no need to rush. He was already afraid. "Perhaps I should have made him believe he has the advantage... Tch. Earthlings." He seemed to be conversing with himself. It wasn't long before he began his assault, firing off a pair of energy blasts. Papaya swatted the first aside, dodging the second one altogether. She frowned, pressing her fists against her cocked hips, arching an eyebrow at Thast. "Really? I show you kindness, and you repay me with that? You are a fool." Drawing her sidearm, she leveled the heavy pistol at Thast and fired a steady barrage of HEAP rounds at him. If he thought he was safe at a distance, he was dead wrong. It doubled as an assault and a distraction. Her other hand extended at her side, small valves popping out of her wrist and releasing a colorless gas into the air. IDAT, Immuno Deficiency Airborn Toxin, a chemical weapon developed by the Tuffles. If Thast inhaled it, it would wreak havoc on his nervous system. BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE. Thast would watch as his attack would be easily brushed to the side by Papya, it seemed Yin's suspicions were correct. She was much stronger than himself, if he were to win he would have to give himself an opening to strike. Dealing with stronger opponents was nothing new to him however, he had already fought a majin boy and a Kai. The only problem was that he had lost both those fights previously. Soon he would see the woman draw some sort of weapon from her side. It appeared to be some kind of advanced technology. Thast would quickly look towards one of the referees judging the fight and shout "What the hell ref! She brought a gun? That can't possibly be legal!" as he said this the crowd would begin to mutter among themselves debating weather it was fair or not. The referee would simply stroke his chin for a few moments before explaining "That's just the thing about us, all's fair in love, war, and the South City tournament." The crowd would applaud the official's decision, and just as they did a hail of bullets would shoot towards Thast. Sensing the danger the weapon could deal, Thast would begin disappearing and reappearing dodging the multiple swarms of bullets while slowly getting closer to Papaya. When he finally drew closer he would feel the neurotoxin seep inside his body, in truth he had no real defense against it. Yin voice would echo in his mind "Focus on the fight Thast, I'll try to eliminate this toxin." Now that he had finally drawn closer, he decided it was time for an all-out attack. Thast's gray aura would spike, and his power level would shoot up. He would enter a classic boxing-style stance as black, dark energy would surround his right hand, and white, pure energy would envelope his left. Launching himself forward he would attempt to deliver a left hook to the woman's jaw, followed by a straight right punch directed towards her mouth, and finish with a, uppercut to her chin. He hoped she would be shaken up, at least a bit... BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

Papaya could only laugh at Thast's insinuation. She held up the weapon in her hand. "This is a sidearm, this much is true. But it does not fire conventional ammunition. It is powered by my very own ki. So some could argue it is not a weapon at all, but an extension of myself." She dropped it, letting the weapon clatter to the ground. Steel rasped against oiled leather as she drew her knife from its scabbard, tossing it aside as well. It skittered across the arena floor before disappearing over the edge. "I would rather you didn't make excuses for when I beat you. I'm just as effective with my hands. Observe." Thast ducked in close, balled fists firing at her face. His blows came quick and powerful, but she could read his movements like a book. Left hook... straight punch... uppercut. She dodged each of his blows with comparative ease. He left much to be desired in terms of speed. At least, when it came to a soldier like herself. Deciding not to give him a chance to retreat, she threw her hands around his neck, clasping her fingers to hold him in place. Leaping upward, she drove both of her knees hard at Thast, looking to plant them in his chest and knock the wind from his body. BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE. Thast never saw the woman’s attack coming, her knees would plow into his chest with a force he had only ever felt twice before. Additionally, he would feel a burning sensation as if his body was internally on fire. Things were not looking good. Even if the woman had discarded her weaponry, he was still without any way to beat her. Finding people like this on earth was not a common sight. Thast would gasp for breath and the spit “You’re a lot stronger than I am, I admit. But, I won’t lose without showing you my true strength!”
The earthling would fly upwards into the air and begin powering up his energy. His aura would flash a series of colors: Black, white, and finally blue. Then would press both hands toward Papaya from his elevated position, and close his eyes. “Here we go… I’ve only got one shot at this.” In Thast’s left hand a ball of white radiant ki would form, and in his right a ball of black necrotic energy would appear. Thast would then speak aloud as if three voices were speaking all at once “Yin Yang Attack!”
A beam of energy would be fired from each orb, and begin heading toward’s Papaya. As they did, the black and white beams would begin to spiral around one another creating a single bolt of black and white ki that would cause a massive explosion upon impact. Though the technique may do some damage to Papaya, Thast’s true target was the ring itself. If he could destroy the ring and cause her to fall to the ground, he would be victor by ring out! It was an all out attack meant to draw the battle to a conclusion. Papaya smirked with confidence, watching as the massive energy blast barreled down toward her. It was an impressive display of power from the young warrior. But she could sense that it would not be enough. Thast Rowens did not possess the conviction needed to defeat her. He was too soft. She had but a minute or so to realize her grave error. The attack was far wider than she anticipated. If it struck the stage, a great portion of it would be destroyed. If the stage were destroyed, she would have nowhere to stand. Her propulsion boots took time to charge, needing first to gather ki at the soles of her feet. It would almost lead to certain defeat. So there was only one real choice in the matter. Squaring her feet shoulder length apart, Papaya extended both her arms and prepared to intercept the blast. The crowd, even the announcer, seemed certain it would kill her. It slammed into her with great force, driving her backward. Her boots dug hard into the arena floor, the smell of burned rubber filling the air as her boot soles fought to keep her footing. The muscles in her arms and shoulders strained against the powerful blast, her delicate palms seared as she fought back against the blast. After a few grueling seconds, she let out a battle cry, shoving the blast up and into the air where it exploded in a brilliant flash of light, sending shockwaves that bowled over half of the crowd. All eyes returned to the arena floor, but there was no sight of Papaya. That was because she appeared high in the air, right behind Thast. Her fingers clasped together, she swung with a mighty blow, seeking to drill a powerful double axe handle to the back of his neck. She did not bother to hold back this time. Most of his energy was expelled from his body, and yet his foe managed to not only avoid his attack, but deflect it. The earthling would simply watch dumbfounded as his own energy blast would explode in the sky above. Suddenly his opponent would show her true colors, her full power. Usually this would be a bad thing for someone at Thast's level, but in this particular situation, the rise in Papaya's power level would allow Thast to track her position as she appeared behind him. He himself would disappear and reappear on the arena floor below avoiding her attack but, he was running out of ideas. He could not win by default or ring out, she was expecting it at this point, he needed to do something crazy. "Your pretty good, not as good as Dain, but good." Surrounding himself in a flaming blue aura, the floor below Thast would begin to crack. Rocks and pebbles would begin to rise as he powered up, and the earth below would begin to shake. The earthling would train his eyes on the spot where Papaya would land, and then on the floor in front of him. He would wait a moment before she began to descend, but the second she did, Thast would drive his left arm into the arena floor. Moments later, a beam of black energy would fly out of the ground upwards towards Papaya as she descended. Hopefully this would slow her down... BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

She took the full brunt of the blast. The dark beam of energy seared her body, slamming into her, driving her back up into the sky as her propulsion engines began to falter. It sent her sailing through the air, yet by some miracle, she still managed to land on her feet, much to the amazement of the crowd. Most of her uniform had been burned away, what remained of her modified uniform burned to tatters. It had already left little to the imagination—now there were but bare strips of army green fatigues left clinging to her limbs and hips, revealing her black undergarments. Staunch mothers gasped, covering their childrens' eyes at the sudden lack of modesty. A few men dared to wolf whistle despite the ire of their significant others. Papaya made no move to cover portions of her exposed body, nor did she care. She was focused on the task before her. She could address her wardrobe later. Papaya flickered from view, moving faster than eyes could follow. She appeared behind Thast, swooping low to retrieve her gun before jamming the barrel against the back of his head. "...who's Dain?" She contemplated pulling the trigger. But killing him would draw far too much attention to herself. She did not need the scrutiny of the Empire coming down on her. So she whacked him hard across the back of the head instead with the butt of her pistol, with enough force to knock him out. Would his fortitude hold out? BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE. Though she was missing a large portion of her clothing, Thast was far more concerned about what the woman was planning on doing next. He knew he wouldn't be able to stop her at this point, he was totally out of energy, and she was angry as ever. The earthling had done one thing in his mind, at least he had proven his power to himself and all the onlookers present. What would Dain tell him to do about now? Probably to fight until he nearly dead, but what would Yin say? She had taught him to know his limits, and to know when to back down from a fight he could not win. "Yin, you know what we have to do..." the spirit would agree responding "Yes, you've done well to recognize the outcome. Go on, give the people a show..."
As Papaya would appear behind him ready to finish him off with her pistol, Thast would do a back flip behind her and attempt to wrap his left arm around her neck, placing her in a standing headlock of sorts. This lock would have no real weight or energy behind it, and the woman would be able to break free with ease, but Thast wanted to make a point. He would raise up his right arm, whether the woman broke free or not, and announce "I know my limits, and your far beyond them. Ref, I forfeit."
The referee would blink a couple of times, and shutter a bit for all the damage the two had caused while fighting. Wobbly holding the microphone he would announce "Well ladies and gentile men, our winner is Papaya!" The crowd would let our a loud cheer, with some light clapping from select individuals, and further whistling from others. Thast himself would begin to walk off stage with the little energy he had left before telling Papaya "I don't know who you are. Your defiantly not from around here, but we should fight again some time. Maybe I'll be a match for you after I've completed my training. after all five months ago my power level was only fifteen, hahaha..."

Thast's surrender was not surprising. Papaya grasped at the arm wrapped around her shoulders and pried it from her neck with relative ease. She frowned, stepping away from him, her hands planted on her hips. The adulation of the crowd washed over her as they cheered for their newest champion. But she held little interest in that. She slid her gun and knife back into their respective holsters. "That is unlikely. You were too weak to defeat me today. You'll be too weak to defeat me in five months. I would aim for a different goal, if I were you. Not that I care to begin with." She turned and walked off the stage, down the steps and headed into the back area. There an attendant waited with a blanket to cover her exposed form. Papaya accepted it, draping the cool thin fabric over her shoulders. Thast Rowens. He was a flash in the pan. A shot in the dark. A risk that would either pay off, or lead to heavy consequences. Such a man was unpredictable who had yet to understand his boundaries and natural limits. But he knew enough to forfeit a losing battle. If they ever met in battle again, she would be sure not to afford him the chance to run again. Thast Rowenspost count: 1 - 6
