——————————————————————————————————————————— Ancient Info: TimelineFrom Dain’s research they lived roughly between three hundred thousand and two hundred fifty thousand years ago. Or at the very least that is the age when he first found traces of their existence and the last evidence they existed. Of course it is very well possible that they are much, much older. On the other hand it is also possible some still exist. Fact is though that Dain found the first evidence of them in this universe on a remote planet near the edge of the east quadrant and it dated nearly two hundred and ninety two thousand years. Or so Petey calculated. The fact that the oldest trace was found at an outer edge was weird though and it was only a small settlement. Despite weeks of scanning and digging, no more traces were found. No trails of technology before them, making it look as if they merely popped up into existence right there and then. It leaves for countless questions. Most importantly: did the ancients originate from this universe/galaxy at all? Timeline: -300.000 till -50.000 years ago. ———————————————————————————————————————————- Dain found himself once more into a weird ass forest, searching for a treasure. In this case a fabled energy source he had come across on a mission. While hunting a `runner´ for a hefty bounty he had stumbled across an ancient ruin. It had been a ruin for eon´s, but some systems still worked and he found out it belonged to a race that lived eon´s ago. From their records he could not find out much about who they were, but it became clear they possessed technology that was rather superior. The one thing that piqued his interest was a power source called a ZPM, that seemed to be able to generate a nearly infinite amount of power from subspace or something. If it was real, it would definitely be useful to enhance the Gete Star. Till now he had to provide the energy for it´s growth by feeding it asteroids and small moons. Yet for it to be fully functional he had discovered it needed to `eat´ grown planets, especially those teeming with life energy. If need be he would do, but he prefered not to. It would draw unwanted attention and he did not look forward to destroying planets continuously. If this device was, as described, small enough to fit into the palm of his hand, yet capable of powering entire planets… let´s say it was enough of an incentive to dig deeper into the fable. That and once in a while he felt like taking a pause from the life as a bounty hunter and just take it easy, playing an archaeologist. This time it had led him to a planet on the outer edge of the western quadrant that did not even seem to have a name. It had taken him a long time to track down and even longer to find, as it was hidden within an asteroid belt. There was some radiation surrounding it that rendered radar and technology useless. Even when he could see it with his own eyes, all the instruments on his ship still did not recognize it and showed merely a black dot in space. Whether it was by design of the ancients or perhaps the reason they settled there in the first place, he could only take a guess at. As soon as he had teleported onto the surface though he found himself in one of the most mystical, beautiful, yet also creepy forests he had ever set foot on. It was covered in a thick mist, yet through it shone purple light that seemed to come directly from the plants and trees. More though, it seemed the plants were an mix of technology and nature. Vines were running all over the ground and through the leaves, pulsating with the same purple light. The first thought he had when he saw them were they were energy cables, yet upon closer look Dain determined they were actual roots and vines. After a bit of investigation though he found that all vines generally seemed to be going in a single direction. A theory formed in his head, that albeit unlikely, could have happened. He had already deduced the ancients technology was as much natural as technological and perhaps the plant life had learned to adapt itself. The world seemed to lack a sun, so perhaps they tapped into some power source that helped them grow. It was a wild theory, but all Dain had. So he strapped his backpack over his gray robe, fastened his sword to his side and put on his combat boots. Normally he tended to wear his wooden sandals, but he had no idea about the plant life and/or animal life on the planet, so he decided to play it safe and not expose himself too much. He did miss the feeling of his toes brushing through the soft grass, but at least his boots were warm and comfortable. Progress was a bit slow as he tended to stop every now and then, to examine his surroundings and look for clues, yet it was steady. Until he heard a noise in front of him and suddenly he realized something. His ability to sense energy did not seem to work either. Normally he detected life all around him, yet here it had felt blissfully silent. He had thought it was just the lack of life, but now that he thought about it, he did see birds in the sky, plus there were countless traces and tracks of animal life to be found in the soil and trees. The sound he heard though seemed to come from a biped creature. Not very heavy, moving straight towards him, yet still obscured by the mist. Suddenly the Saiya-Jin mercenary felt very nervous. Without the ability to see or sense what was around him, he felt naked. “Is someone out there?” He asked loudly, his right hand moving nervously to the hilt of his sword, as he began to carefully move towards the sound. Nervous and naked he might feel, but he was still a soldier and he had learned to run towards danger, not from it. “If there is something there, know that I am not here to harm you. I am simply exploring.” He continued as he hopped over a fallen trunk, his hand resting reassuringly on his sword. He really hoped it would be his good friend Sly. The moment he had departed, he had asked his friend to come and join him if he had time. He truly hoped his friend would come. Not because he was scared or nervous or anything... he just missed his friend humor. That is all. Yeah that was it. He needed Sly´s wit to keep him laughing. Laughing and annoyed seemed to be driving him forward and Sly was perfect at it. That was what he needed in this creepy forest. Where he had no power, could not sense and god he wished his friend would show up. Still the forest was amazing and Dain was actually looking forward to expecting it a bit closer. With or without his friend. Yes Sir. Sly | Word Count: 1,100 | Total Word Count: 1,224

He had no idea why Dain wanted him out here in some random forest. Of course though, when asked to help his friend out he agreed without asking questions. It was a great thing that the two of them were always so willing to help each other without any type of warning or prior notice. But, Sly thought to himself maybe he should start asking some questions before trouncing on to some weird unknown planet in some weird forest. It would be great to know if he was about to encounter to planet eating life form out here. Or if there were any hot raccoons in the area. As he trounced around, completely lost, he eventually heard a noise in a near clearing. Stealthily he approached the sound. Whenever he reached it, a smirk crossed his face as he saw his friend Dain standing there. His hand was on his sword and it appeared he thought Sly mar have been some type of enemy. He could not help but chuckle quietly to himself just before he walked out of the brush to become visible to his friend. He greeted his friend by instantly mocking him, "Is...I...Is... So...Someone There..... Im scared..."His quiet chuckle turned into a down right uproar of laughter as he accompanied it with a claw point at Dain, "Oh, you thought I was some big bad guy. Shoulda seen you face!"Once his laughter finished he continued to speak, "Nevertheless, why do you have me in this weird ass forest."Dain SincaraWC:258 TWC:258

Dain was rather surprised by the person he encountered. Or rather the way Sly behaved. Or perhaps he was not surprised at all and simply shook his head towards his friend. Or was it the way he looked? He was a bit unsure himself, but he had to admit it was a pleasant surprise. His mind had already been playing tricks on him, imagining the most horrible monsters to come through the mist. Instead it was his good friend the raccoon. It would have been a stretch to call him beautiful, but right now he was the most beautiful person Dain could imagine to come through the mist. A sight of relief washed over Dain and he let go of the hilt of his sword. “My apologies, I was simply not expecting you to get here so fast and I am a bit jumpy. Apparently neither my power not my energy sensing works on this planet.” He said with a clumsy grin, raising his hands into the air to make a bit of fun of himself, for being such a wussy. He was indeed very glad to see his friend. He had never been to a planet were he had felt so completely helpless and that felt so alien. “They are wonderful plants aren´t they? It seems they seem to draw their energy directly from their roots, which all seem to be connected.” He continued friendly, feigning an interest in the plants as he came closer. To be honest he did find them interesting, yet it was not something he would normally have said to someone else. He figured though that if this was an inhabitant of the planet, it would not be a bad start to take interest in it. “To make it short, we are looking for a device. So basically we are treasure hunting, like we always do.” He said friendly, wondering how he could possibly fill in the gaps for his friend in the shortest amount of time. “Well have you ever come across a rumors of a race of beings that lived in our galaxy a long, long time ago? They seem to be gone now, but their technology is… well beyond words.” Dain asked his friend, hoping to get him curious about it, before starting the real story. In all fairness his friend probably had not. During his long, long life time, Dain had never heard of them even once and purely by accident he came across a single scrap of info. Normally he would just have ignored it as it was rubbish, but Petey had analysed it and found a slight connection to other legends. From there it had taken months of pain staking research to even confirm whether or not the legend was worth anything. All in all it had taken over a year to get this point and that was after dedicating a lot of time and effort towards it. It would have actually surprised him if his friend had. “To start at the beginning. As you know we got ourselves the Gete Star and so far it has been increasing it´s size rapidly by eating asteroids and smaller moons. Yet I have been doing some research and apparently for it to function at peak capacity, it would need a steady diet of planets containing a lot of life energy. Probably meaning inhabited planets. Now I don´t actually mind. If need be that is a last resort, but I am not actually want to draw attention to ourselves as the bounty hunter that leave a trail of dead planets behind. We would get too much heat and eventually the entire universe would combine against us.” Dain said, explaining the origin of the reason why he had come here. “Because as much fun as that would be, even we could only hold out a few years against the full might of the entire universe…” He said with a grin, playing on both their ego´s as sometimes that it how it actually felt to him. “In any case, I have been searching for altenatives and came across this ancient race. Apparently their technology is so far beyond us, we can´t even comprehend it. I mean just look at the plants. A perfect combination of technology and nature it seems. In any case when researching them, I came across a text mentioning an energy device capable of powering entire planets indefinitely and it could fit in the palm of your hands. Something to do with subspace or something. I had Petey take a look at it, but she could make heads nor tails from even the most basic descriptions and calculations. Long story short, it is called a Zero Point Module and I hope there might be one here. With it I hope to power the Gete Star and can avoid the rapid of planets on a large scale. Does that clear it up for you?” Dain asked with a grin, wondering what kind of reaction Sly would show. Before he could respond though Dain´s attention was suddenly drawn to a movement just above them. Lowering itself from one of the branches of the tree, came one of the most hideous spiders Dain had ever seen. He was no fan of them anyway, but this was one half mechanical and half natural. It´s eyes and leg´s seemed to be made of a kind of metal, while it´s hairy body looked swollen and made of flesh. The Saiya-Jin had no idea what the spider was, but his disgust for the creatures was enough. In the blink of an eye his hand shot up, releasing a tiny metal blade with perfect timing, piercing the spider directly. “… sorry… it startled me!” Dain said apologizing, just as he witnessed -to his disgust- the spider jumping back upon it´s feet and scurrying off, seemingly ignoring the blade piercing it. “By the way, do your pistols work on this planet?” Dain suddenly asked. So far the planet seemed to have disabled his energy, sensing and all technology he was carrying. Even his ship had not been able to come close. Yet he knew Sly´s pistols were special, more artifacts than common technology and he wondered if they were affected. If not, it would be a huge relief. If so… well somehow they would get through it anyway. Sly | Word Count: 1,077 | Total Word Count: 1,224 + 1,077 = 2,301

"Well, that is a relief. I wouldn't mind having the star eat planets either, but with Genesis on our tail constantly, I don't want to give him additional fuel to unite a team against us. The dude is starting to try my patience. I haven't spoke to you in awhile, but he tracked me down and we had somewhat of a little tussle. I told him how I ummm. eerrrrr. blasted Doctor Grey's brains out." Sly just realized he had yet to see Dain since their skirmish on the Gete Star. Furthermore, he just realized this would be the first time he told Dain that he stood back to kill the doctor himself. Hopefully his friend would take the information better than Genesis did, "Needless, to say Genesis aint happy with me. I heard he was tracking you out as well, did you ever run into him by any chance?" Just as he finished speaking a large odd looking spider revealed itself. Sly couldn't help but chuckle as he watched Dain attack it with a sword. "Ahh my revolvers, I am not sure. They are kind of a mixture between actual guns and my own energy. Let's see." One of his revolvers was drawn and aim was taken at a large tree. As he pulled the trigger you could hear the whirling of the revolver as it always made prior to releasing a blast of his energy out towards a foe. But then, nothing happened except a small bit out smoke escaped from the muzzle end. "Well shit, that is gonna make this a little more difficult. If those aren't working I doubt I will be able to summon my rifle or crooked cane. Shit, you got an extra blade or something? I don't have anything else on me that doesn't use some of my energy." “Yes well you see, uh, well you never…” Dain stumbled over his own words, trying to find an excuse, yet could not find one that did not seem ridiculous. After all he had just thrown a knife at a spider in a reflex. Very manlike. Instead he let his voice trail off before letting out an embarrassed laughter, holding the back of his head as he continued to laugh. She was right though, he was by far a better fighter then an explorer. It was strange though, normally he was never this nervous, he could simply rely on his senses and stre-!- My strength! Dain suddenly noticed, his eyes shooting wide open. He felt none of his KI running through his body. Even as he low key tried to summon his strength, he felt nothing. Well or rather it was there, but he could not reach it? He could not explain it properly… like a lid had been put over the well that contained his energy? Luckily he was distracted by the comments of Sly not being able to fire his blasters or summon his riffles. “Neat!” Was all that Dain responded, getting an upgrade in his sarcasm pool. According to what he could remember, he had never fought without being able to rely upon his energy. There was one thing he wanted to check though and he extended his hand and mumbled a few words. A moment later a sword appeared in his hand. “Well catch. It seems magic still works?” He asked pondering to himself as he tossed the sword to Sly. It would be a good start if it was. In fact he knew quite a few spells himself, although he would never call himself accomplished in the field. Merely tricks that helped him in his adventures. Okay mostly they were card tricks… Or like how to turn of the lights or open locked doors. “Heh I guess we are pretty screwed.” Dain said as he judged the situation and then began to laugh. “Why did I ever believe anything we do could go down any other way then that?” He asked as he laughed. “Okay let me try something else.” He said with a grin as he extended his hand, opened his palm and mumbled a few words, hoping an flame would appear. Yet nothing happened. So next he tried several more spells, tried to vary offensive and defensive spells, yet none of them worked. It was frustrating and he was just about to give up when he mumbled a word wrong and a small item appeared in the palm of his hand. It was a small golden necklace, the chains finely braided together, with at the heart a small ruby necklace. A curse left his mouth, before tossing it to Sly. “Here wear this. Perhaps you will be so cute that nothing will attack you.” He said with a grin, before getting serious. “Well it seems magic is out as well, no offensive and defensive spells worked. Perhaps the sword worked because it is such basic tech, it does not register as offensive?” He said pondering, when suddenly a brilliant idea hit him. “PAPARAPAPA!” He chanted loudly as he extended both hands and a moment later a bottle appeared in each hand. “Thank goodness…” He said obviously relieved as he passed it to Sly, before letting out a sigh of relief. “Well I have not met Genesis, but I met a reported named Riley who seemed to be very interested in me and he is supposed to be friends with Genesis. He even warned me that Genesis was looking for me, so I guess I will be meeting him sooner or later.” Dain said as he shrugged his shoulders. When it was time to deal with it he would. For now though they should focus on the planet. If neither magic nor technology worked, they could probably not be transported of or teleport out. “I know a bit more about the legends regarding the planet, but about the actual planet I know very little. As you saw by the spider… it startled me.” He said with a grin, still amused by his own reaction. “How about we try following the roots together. Or what do you think? Where would you be hiding if you were a legendary artifact?” He said Sly with a friendly smile, knowing that if anyone could think like an artifact it would be him and Sly. Well mostly Sly. Finding treasures and sniffing out artifacts was what he did best. ———————————————————————————————————————————- Deep inside the forest though the spider had reached what it was looking for and crawled inside the cracks at the socket of an ancient statue. It was the statue of some kind of armored alien, complete with shield and sword. Or perhaps giant was the better word for it. The statue was a lot larger then any human being, complete with several arms and other features humans did not possess. For one it seemed to have four eyes and a fifth in the middle of his forehead. It looks like plants and vines were growing from the skull rather then hair and there were horns and natural plating all over the skin. Inside the statue it scuttled around for a while, trying to find what it was looking for in the darkness until it finally did. In the center of the statue there was a small orb that seemed to glow slightly. It had never seen the orb in such state, it was almost as if it was dead and for a moment the spider was unsure what to do. Well technically it knew exactly what to do. It had been encoded directly in his being, taking over in cases like this. As he approached the orbs his eyes lit up and organic tentacles began to grow from the pupils. Black and slimey they grew as they wrapped themselves around the orb. Sly | Word Count: 1,006 | Total Word Count: 2,301 + 1,006 = 3,307

Well it seemed whatever they were about to get themselves into was going to be much more difficult. Without the ability for either of them to pull from their ki would severely limit their potential. Hopefully, it would be the same for any creature they crossed while at this planet. Sly was normally pretty confident, but he doubted if the two of them would be able to best a foe if that foe had the ability to manipulate ki on this planet. He shrugged the thought out of his head, and decided ti was best to just push forward. His paw shot in front of him as he caught the sword the was thrown towards him. He took a couple of swings with it from side to side. Sly usually used firearms, they were his preference. However, he clearly displayed a mastery with edged weapons at all. Growing up in a place called The Badlands forced you to learn how to use any item as a deadly weapon. His love affair for firearms came on later in life when he could finally get his hands on some. A slight smile crossed his snout as he continued to practice some slashes to and fro, "Ahh this brings me back to when I was a child. I remember fending off a group of thugs who wanted to steal a loaf of bread from me. It was the only food I had for the week. Luckily, I stole a trusty blade just prior and was able to keep them away from me. Good times, before I changed into a raccoon or before I even knew I could manipulate ki. A simpler time, well until my parents sold me off to slavery in a pirate crew." He let out a slight chuckle as he came back to the present. He didn't talk about his past much, even to his friend Dain. His brief moment of openess with Dain though was a clear indicator of how much he trusted his friend. "Yeah, let's follow these roots and see where we can get to." He thought about Dain's question, "If I was an artifact and did not want to be found. I would be where it wouldn't be expected. Perhaps right out in the open, but disguised as something else." Dain SincaraWC:384 TWC: 942

`Good!´ Was all Dain thought as he watched Sly catch the sword. Perhaps he had been worried for nothing, but part of him was worried that the raccoon would not know how to use a sword. From the way he caught it though he was quickly taught otherwise. Of course he was no last samurai, but it should have been fine. Even if this forest had more spiders or monsters in it, they could still defend themselves and combined the two probably had more combat experience then a god. He was quite surprised to learn a bit more about Sly´s background… and a tad jealous. Dain had only started writing his memories when he was already on the elementary planet and although he did jot down one or two details from before, he practically knew nothing of his childhood. “Well I guess you picked up a thing or two from the pirates I guess.” Dain said with a chuckle, referring to the recent string of adventures the two of them had been through. “I do know what you mean though… sometimes I get tired of being… on top.” Dain said suddenly, for a moment looking far older and far more tired, as he grew serious for a moment. “Sometimes I do long for these simpler times ya know. Just trying to survive.” He said with a deep sigh as he closed his eyes, unconsciously mimicking Sly. Letting go of the facade for a moment, showing how tired and weary he truly was. Sure he liked it, gathering valuables, battling, the whole shabang. But he was tired of leading, feeling responsible, he was tired of being so powerful he could topple governments and destroy planets. To always restrain himself. To always plow forward without any real goal, nothing to fight for. Sometimes all he wished for was to be a weak soldier again, fighting for the greater good of the empire. Being able to go all out, without having to risk blowing up entire cities. That or simply retire. Just quite and be done with it. “Well how can we be certain this artifact does not want to be found?” Dain asked with a grin, the moment having faded and he forced himself to be his usual chipper self. “For all we know this artifact wants to be found and have a new owner. Just like that treasure I rescued from the vaults of some pirate last week.” He said, his grin growing wider, as he slapped Sly on the shoulder. Still it was the only rational thing to do. As far as he could tell the entire forest all seemed to be growing from one central place, so that was the most logical place to start their search. With a small nod he agreed and began to trudge with Sly through the woods. ———————————————————————————————————————————- A few miles away from them though the statue suddenly began to hum and tremble for a moment. A root on the ground lit up and pulsated for a moment, before everything turned silent again. The spider stumbling out of the crack, before finally collapsing to the dagger still in it´s body. Finally allowed to rest as it´s job was completed. Whatever energy that kept it going, despite it´s mortal body already having died, finally leaving and seeping back into the ground itself. As it was transfered back into the ground, the orb began to glow slightly. Like a light bulb flickering a few times before it finally turned on. In this instance though when it turned on it was only a bright glow, a soft hum and then it seemed to die down again. The orb fading back into darkness. Then suddenly it lit up like a Christmas tree on the morning of christmas and the entire inner works of the statue were lit up for a brief moment. ————————————————————————————————————————————— Suddenly the ground underneath their feet trembled though. It was only for a mere moment, before fading, but for some reason Dain did not feel like it was natural. Nor did he like it how it seemed the forest seem to grow darker around them and the mist stronger. It was as if the blue light emitted by the plants and trees was growing dimmer. What he did not notice though was the rustling of the leaves, of the small swaying of the trees. Or rather the fact that they seem to do so without their being even the tiniest bit of wind. Perhaps it was due to the fact that he had been reliant on his power for so long, that he now was missing the basic signs. Or perhaps it was the purple mist that seemed to be growing stronger, the further they continued their search. “So anything going on with you lately? Since we took over the Ravagers I have simply been so busy I barely get to have any fun adventures. You?” Dain asked, ignoring the shiver that ran down his spine. "I know how you feel, ever since we took over The Ravagers I have been swamped. However, normally I would hate this type of work. But in this case I feel like it will be worth it in the long run. It's difficult to run a crime syndicate where loyalty among the members is actually a thing. So most of my time has been spent weeding out the ones who can not follow the one or two rules we actually have. Been tracking and murdering em just to prove a point, thankfully it seems to be working though. Job distribution is streamlined and our numbers are growing it seems. Hopefully we can be the super power when it comes to the bounty hunting game, if we are not already." His eyes began to gaze the forest as it seemed to grow in size and the light that was there began to fade. He was not the nervous type, but when the ground trembled beneath his feet, he was quickly reminded that he was without majority of his powers. His small raccoon body, suddenly began to feel extremely fragile and frail. As his eyes gazed the surrounding a pile of bushes seemed to twitch in an odd manor, but no wind could be felt. Sly pointed his sword to the movement ahead, "Wonder if that is a foe hiding or something else. How about we go scope it out?" Cautiously the little raccoon began to approach the now shaking bush. Hopefully this wouldn't lead them to a death battle. WC: 258 TWC: 1200 Dain Sincara

As they were talking and carefully trudging forward, suddenly the voice of Petey could be heard from Dain´s wrist watch. At first it came through as mere static, but as time passed it seemed the quality began to improve until Dain and Sly could actually make out the words of the female AI. “Okay according to my readings that should do it.” Petey said, probably more to herself then the two of them. Before Dain could reply how glad he was to hear from her, she already continued though. Okay this is just one way, I can´t receive any signals back yet. I am still working on it. So here is the status. I have just begun penetrating through the incredibly dense asteroid field. By touch if I might add. Sensors are still down completely. I don´t know what shit hole you got yourself into this time, but it is fubar! Anyway I am currently being an icebreaker, using the shields to gently push through all the debris as I slowly and blindly trudge forward. In any case I just wanted to let you know I am working on the problem and I think I might have an idea. There is some kind of radiation -probably- that shuts everything down. I hope to have a working solution soon and should be within transporter range in roughly thirty six hours. If my calculations are correct, which is bloody difficult if I can´t tell where I am or going. For all I know I could have been pushed out of course and headed straight towards your location like a flaming meteorite… anyway that is the status. Just hang in there and hopefully I will be able to get you out eventually.” Petey rambled on, completely unaware Sly was there as well and if Dain had not pressed the mute button, he probably could hear her ramble on for the next hours as well. Being an AI, she had a tendency to talk for days without needing a break. Dain had tried it once, letting her talk as he did not interrupt her. When he woke up she was still going and when he had asked her what he missed, all she replied was a simple nothing important. “Ah I had been wondering about the number of mysterious casualties. I am glad to hear that is working out though.” Dain said with a grin, relieved his friend was taking care of things so well. The thought that Sly was doing something bad never even occurred to him at all. “I have been busy getting the Gete Star in working operations. So far we have several docking bays operational and I have shanghaied some of the best and brightest scientists and engineers to help us. I have also started up setting recruitment offices on almost all major planets. Low key of course, but it should allow us to recruit the grunts we need for all the new ships the Gete Star is producing.” Dain said, suddenly looking tired, thinking about all the work he had been putting in lately. When he had suggested getting the Star and the Ravagers, he had not thought about the aftermath and that it would be more work then actually getting those two. “Yeah, let´s go see what it out there.” He said, a bit nervous, as he wrapped his hands around the hilt of his blade a bit tighter and began to go tread more carefully into the direction the tremor had come from. Unlike his normal fun and games though, this time he did not offer to hide behind his friend. In this case both were vulnerable and he would stay right by his side. ———————————————————————————————————————- Meanwhile at the center of the forest and ancient device/being received the energy required to wake it up. When it was first created, it had been able to operate for centuries at a time. As time passed though the source of his energy had degraded slowly, causing him to start shutting himself down at times to recharge. It kept getting worse and worse though, until it got to the point where he had to shut himself down completely. It had not expected to be ever woken up again, yet suddenly he felt energy running through it´s body again. Within a moment his senses adapted, despite the countless years of sleep. “So the forest used all it´s energy to wake me… why? … oh that is new… now where are those… ah there we go and… of we seem to have… no that is not quite right… did I not use to have toes?” It mused softly to himself as more and more of his systems began to start up. It seemed that although his sleep, his body and powers were fine and-! “I SEE! WE HAVE GUESTS! That actually makes sense. That is why… OH MAGIC! Is that why you woke me? Ah never mind. LET´S GIVE THEM A PROPER WELCOME!” It said, it´s voice thundering so loud it could make the ground shake, maybe even loud enough to reach the two intruders. A moment later two bright yellow round lights/eyes appeared in the darkness, piercing them like the headlights on a car, as the being pushed himself out of the throne he had been residing in, cracking the floor as he got up. A shockwave was send through the forest as it got up, strong enough to uproot several of the trees in the nearest vacinity. Luckily by the time it reached the two warriors, it was reduced to a strong gust by the time it reached them. ————————————————————————————————————————— “Uhhhh… you know what… how about we just sit tight and see what is coming to find us?” He asked as a bead of anime sweat formed on the side of his head as he came to a stop. The forest around them was still growing ever darker and at this point he could barely see a hundred feet ahead of him. Was he really afraid? Well perhaps slightly, but if he was honest, he was also starting to get excited. "You know what they say though: any treasure not guarded is probably not big enough to be called a treasure." He suddenly said with a grin as he remembered an old saying he had picked up from a Ravager captain, long before he had started making a name for himself. The trek was beginning to tire out the small raccoon. Somehow this planet had removed his use of ki and it was really beginning to show. He wondered if this was how people without the use of ki always felt. That a simple stroll through a dense forest would tire them out. What a horrible existence the raccoon thought to himself. His exhaustion caused him to happily accept the suggestion from Dain to sit and wait for whatever was out in this forest.
"Sure, Ill just take a seat over her."
Sly waked over to a tree stump and took a seat. A sense of nervousness overcame him as he felt a slight tremor through the ground beneath his feet. His eyes would look up to Dain,
"Looks like we may not have to wait that long after all. Whatever is out there must know of our presence. Hopefully it can not use ki as well. I would hate for this fight to not be fair. Well I dont care if its fair if we have the edge."
He snorted casually as he laughed at his own joke>

Dain chuckled at Sly´s comment. The two tended to think alike. Though in all fairness, Dain did not mind fighting a stronger opponent, as long as it was fair. This KI reduction shit was annoying though and made it unfair. Still they had their swords and despite everything, he bet the two of them were pretty decent fighters. After all most of their lives they had spend either fighting, chasing or being chased. It would have been hard not to pick up a few tricks along the way. Even without their KI, he bet their speed and agility could bring them a long way. There was no further time to spend admiring it though as the hairs on the back of his neck were beginning to stand up. It was rarely a good sign and he trusted his instincts in such situations. Automatically he reached for the bracelet on his arm and pressed the button, expecting his signature black armor to appear. Only for there to be nothing. There was a soft humming sound coming from the device, before that sizzled away. Dain rubbed his eyes as he wondered about what he had seen had really happened or whether it was a trick his mind just played on him. He could have sworn that the moment he pressed the bracelet he saw some of the mist move and enter the device. Nah can´t be… He thought wearily to himself, dismissing the notion, replacing it forcefully with the theory that his hand movement must have shifted the mist and that caused the attack. “Well I guess we won´t have to wait long anymore.” Dain said with a grin, worn only by the weary, as he heard and felt the thundering footsteps getting closer. With a sigh he got up from their resting place, placed a hand upon his sword and began carefully walking slowly to the epicenter. “Stay here, I want to check something out.” Dain said with a faint smile. Slowly progressing, carefully placing each step, watching the ground he was walking on. His gaze moving rapidly through the forest, hoping to see something he could identify as a threat. At least if he found something, he could focus on it. This not knowing, was killing him. A part of him even wanted to retreat. However that would be the worst they could probably do. Turn their back at the treat. If experience had taught him anything it was that running towards danger was almost always safer. At least if you could see it, you could react adaptively. Speaking about seeing, just at that moment the blue light coming from all plants began to fade, flickered a final time and then a darkness set it, that was absolute. “Please tell me you brought a flash light.” Dain said, a sense of humor in his voice, as he clenched his fingers even tighter around the blade. As Dain was contemplating, he suddenly noticed movement on the ground. “WATCH OUT!” He suddenly yelled to Sly as he felt something wrap itself around his ankles. In a reflex he swung his sword, cutting through the vines that had slithered across the floor toward them. The next moment he was dragged away, as more wrapped themselves around his other feet and started pulling. A quick slash made an end to it, but suddenly he was very much aware of all the movement around him. It seemed like the entire forest was crawling with moving vines. Not only the floor, but from the trees as. Countless vines moving towards them like, slithering like snakes. “WELL HELLO THERE! IT SEEMS I FOUND YOU!” A thundering voice suddenly pierced the darkness, two bright yellow lights showing before the Saiya-Jin registering the new presence. It was not much, but for a moment Dain was distracted and a moment later he felt slimey vines wrap around his ankles and arms, before being pulled into the air. “Oh goodie… and here I was already getting complaints I had a god complex…” He said with a grin, as he noticed he was hanging in mid air. His arms pulled wide and his legs bound tight together. Sly | Word Count: 710 | Total Word Count: 5,242+ 710 = 5,952

Sly was fine with most shitty scenarios he had encountered in his short life. Multiple near death experiences he was fine with. Most of those he actually went through with Dain. Sly was even able to cope with the fact that he was unable to maniplate ki on this unknwon god forsaken planet. But when the lights cut out and he was forced to stand in complete darkness he grew frustrated. Sly was not afraid of the dark by any stretch of the imagination, but he had spent enough times around assassins, bounty hunters, and other sorts of low moral people to understand what was about to occur. Generally darkness was an enemies friend, and he was expecting an attack at any moment. Even expecting the attack, the raccoon was still caught by surprise when the realization that he was being attacked by the very forest itself came to fruition in his mind. He tried with all of his might to withstand the incoming barrage of vines attempting to twirl themselves around his every limb. He slashed his sword like a mad man, but eventually he was overwhelmed. The vines wrapped themselves around his small legs and arms, which forced him to drop his sword to the ground as he was lifted up in the air. "ahh shit." He muttered as he was raised in mid air. He attempted to squirm his body in an effort to get out, but it was of no use. His squirming then came to a quick stop as he heard a voice cut through the darkness. "You found us! Who the heck are you?" Dain SincaraWC: 270 TWC: 1,670

Dain could not move a finger and the moment he saw the first foes appear he already knew it would have been impossible anyway. Walking in two rows, huge stone golems began to walk towards them. All weighing at least a thousand pound, judging from their weight and sound of their steps. All equipped with shields and impressive stone swords. Or perhaps not stone. Dain could not see the compound properly, but it was far too polished and smooth to be stone. “Ah that makes sense. With no KI or magic, these creatures would be very hard to destroy indeed.” He said with a macabre grin, almost as if he was accepting his fate. “Well I have to admit this has been a welcome-” Dain was just about to say a few epic farewell words to his friend when suddenly the voice from before interrupted him. “Well thank you. Of course I know everything about that, I am the one who told it to welcome you an-HEY! What is going on here?” It said pleasantly, only to seem genuinely surprised as it appeared from the darkness and stood in front of the two. However due to the lack of real light, Dain could only see the outline of a big figure standing in front of them. “STOP!” It bellowed at the golem, that was just about to strike at Dain, causing it to freeze instantly. “My apologies, I honestly meant to welcome you.” It said apologetic, seemingly shrugging it´s shoulders. “Bloody subsystems… commands… too much time has passed… now where was it… ah! There we go!” It seemed to mutter as it froze completely. Then suddenly the entire forest lit up. The blue light returned, but this time it was much brighter and the fog vanished completely. Moreso the fruits in the trees -till now Dain had not even noticed them at all- began to shine with a bright orange colar and flowers began to sprout everywhere, shining their own beautiful light upon the forest. Next animals appeared. At first a few butterflies, but soon fireflies, lady bugs, birds, squirrels and even a few deer appeared. All filling the forest with a sweet symphony of life and colors, also revealing the new presence in front of them. “My apologies. It seems my systems have degraded a bit and the forest mistook my command to welcome you. So what brings you here?” It asked with a pleasant, almost childish happy voice as it waved his hands and both were slowly lowered by the vines. Confused Dain looked around as his feet touched the ground, for a moment confused about what to make from it. His first instinct might have been to run, but the dead bracelet on his arm meant that Petey had not yet been successful in penetrating the interference. “Okay… this is a new twist…” Dain said as he stabbed his sword into the ground and looked at Sly for a moment as he tried to figure out what to do next. “You want to answer that or do we make a run for it?” He asked Sly eventually, as he did not see a way out. Normally when a twist occurred in the adventures of Dain and Sly it meant something really bad was about to happen. In all of their adventures Sly could not think of any surprises that actually benefited the duo. So when it turned out this giant wood looking creature was a friend and not a foe, he welcomed the surprise with open arms. Quickly the limbs of the forest let go of his small frame and sent him gingerly on the ground.
He felt relieved to be standing the right side up as he look to the forest as it began to lit back up. For the first time since arriving here he took the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the forest and all it had to offer. He took in a deep breath and let it go, feeling the stress leave his body. His attention diverted to Dain and the others,
"Ummm... I guess we can be honest and see where it takes us. If need be we will try to hightail it out of here. I think we may be able to outrun em if need be. But maybe the guy will be nice and just like give it to us?"

It was indeed a twist Dain had not seen coming. Most of the times every time something had happened it had spelled doom and misfortune for them. Of course they were still stuck on a planet where they could not use their KI, the other party could control the forest and probably more… yes perhaps it was wise for them to just be honest with this being. “Ah yes, I think that might be prudent.” Dain said with a nod, but before he could address the giant golem guardian statue thingie, the thing began to move already and interupted them. “Forgive my bluntness, but I don´t have time for politeness. Please follow me as I lead you to wear you are needed. I can talk on the way.” It said with a friendly voice, yet something about it made it clear it was not a question. Dain shrugged however and began to follow the being. Now that he could observe it from up close and in better light, he began to see the patterns. The design was definitely ancient. Now that he could see it though, everything seemed to resemble the ancients. From the design of the trees to the insects crawling over them. Ancient, yet animal like. He could not even imagine what technology could do this, but it seemed to have happened anyway. Suddenly he realized he was almost sprinting to keep up with the stone giant. Simply due to it´s massive size it was moving very rapidly, despite moving seemingly sluggish. “By the way you are both free to ride on top of me, so we can make better time.” It said as it stopped for a moment, having noticed the two were barely keeping up, despite the fact that he was already treading slowly. He lowered it´s gigantic hand, placing it on the ground for Dain and Sly to get on top. Wow… Dain thought to himself as he saw the hand in front of him, making him realize how big the giant really was. The hand was over 5 feet high and could fit at least a dozen people, while still giving them ample time to dance. What he actually wondered though was how big the forest was. He had noticed the giant was not even above the trees, making them at least several miles high. Okay that was a fair offer and at the very least the creature was heading in the direction of the center of the forest. Dain gave his friend a small nod and then simply jumped on top of the creatures massive hand. “Actually we are here because of a legend regarding the ancients and the ZPM module.” Dain said as he had firmly planted his feet and stood in the place that would give him the most time and chance to evade if the creature ever decided to make a fist and try to squash him. “Do you happen to know anything about that by any chance?” Dain asked seriously as he waited for Sly to jump on as well. For a moment the creature froze. Or perhaps that was just Dain´s imagination. It was hard to tell the difference sometimes. Then it suddenly spoke and it adressed Sly directly. “How come you are a raccoon and human at the same time? By any understanding I possess that is not possible, yet here you stand, torn between dimensions…” It spoke a bit slower as before, as if it was trying to understand what it was saying. At the very least Dain was certain this was promising. This machine was clearly of highly advanced design and perhaps even truly ancient. He had never seen anything like this. “Hey Sly, what do you think we could fetch for this thing? Think we could dismantle it and recover the parts?” Dain asked beneath his breath to his friend, as the raccoon was the better appraiser between the two of them. The Saiya-Jin did not know whether it was his friends natural talent or perhaps his raccoon side, but it seemed like Sly was always capable of telling in a moment whether something was worth a lot or not. The change of pace was very welcomes by the small raccoon. At first he was trying to follow the massive creature, but without the ability to manipulate ki to fly to keep up his short furry legs were struggling to keep up. So when the offer to jump on the creature back for a free ride to their destination was offered, he of course gladly accepted it. He jumped up on the massive hand and than was placed atop the shoulder of the creature. As he took his free ride, his mind kind of wondered and he ignored most of what the massive robot like creature had to say. That was until he made the comment about Sly being stuck between dimensions,
"uhhhh. I guess this is the result of traveling between so many dimensions on the regular."
He shrugged his shoulders and continued to enjoy the ride. However, his mind shifted gears as he listened to the creature speak. It's level of artificial intelligence was beyond anything he had ever encountered. Sly wasn't the type to know much about high tech or how they work. However, he was smart enough to know high tech items can cost a decent price. Just as Dain began to ask him about the price they could fetch for the creature, Sly's paws had already found their was inside an entry port of the beast. With a hard tug on a wire the beast would come to a grinding halt and essentially turn off. Sly's face would turn towards Dain, exposing a massive grin.
"I am guessing a lot."
