The elite bounty hunter was just sitting in the middle of his war cruiser, when the tablet lying next to him began to beep. Slightly annoyed he put down the glass of scotch and glanced over it to see the headline. It clearly was a bounty and although the amount was a bit too low to cross his attention threshold, the name of the requester drew warranted further attention. With a soft sigh he closed the book in his other hand and directed it with his mind towards the single empty space in the substantial rows of bookcases. Albeit it originally being a Targonion Dark Breath class war cruiser, Dain had made substantial modification and the heart of his ship was now his throne room. The east wall was a full blown kitchen, complete with staff and numerous food replicators. On the west there were hundreds of meters filled with all kinds of delicacies from all across the universe. Ranging from the white flower cigarettes of Benoi, to the opioid mushroom from Xerous. The North wall was simply filled liquor, so many it would probably even take Dain several decades to try them all and even longer to finish them all. Ironically amongst all the pleasures in the universe, his favorite liquid remained Whiskey, a liquid from the place he grew up in. The South wall contained his personal library. Tonight was supposed to be a day off. In the recent months the amount of bounty´s and request had increased so much he barely had any time to left to unwind. Tonight was supposed to have been his night, there was already a luxurious meal being prepared to gorge himself on and a cask of Irish whiskey was being brought up at that moment. One of his black cigarettes had been bungling from his lip and he had just began digging into an ancient tome he `recovered´ from a dig on some backwater world. Only a handful of people could probably have drawn him away from his free evening and sadly this woman was one of them. “Okay everyone, please stop preparing. I need to go again, but make sure it is ready when I come back.” Dain said, as he pressed the intercom button embedded in the arm of his chair, without any wasting any words. He probably should feel bad for leaving them on a moments notice, but they were being paid far too well for too less work for him to actually care about it. “Oh and feel free to take the evening off and enjoy yourselves.” He added a moment later, before he placed two fingers on his forehead and vanished. A moment later he appeared in some luxurious penthouse in one of the major star bases in the Northern quadrant. “Milady, it is good to see you.” He responded after orientating himself for a moment and finding the woman who contacted him. “Regentine Albmoxa the third, it is my honor.” He quickly added, remembering she tended to insist on titles and ceremony when others were around. The Saiya-Jin normally hated such thing, which was why he left the army and became a lonely bounty hunter in the first place, however he owed her a big favor, so for once he would skip the formalities. She had done it. Days had kept passing, but the kind of exposure and experience she was granted, through her meeting beings of higher power, led to something wonderful when it had came to progression. She couldn't really just say when it had happened, as so many things were difficult to gauge without the approximation of a scouter. Along with her personal policy on not meeting others too soon, without a show of progress, it had been quite some time since she had met with those experienced enough, to recognize the changes within her. They couldn't have put down an approximation of their own, but the power that she was able to call forth now, was so much more overwhelming compared to those on the school grounds. And at her best, mustering up what ki she could gather, she was able to double the power that she now had to her access. It was an accomplishment. And impressive one. But still something she knew fairly well, that those competing in the tournaments that could happen in one area or the next, could muster themselves. Still, reaching this level of power opened up certain opportunities, of which only served to motivate her further to train and grow stronger. She was very assured that she would now be capable of winning a fair amount of matches now, but there was so much better that she could have also accomplished. This was hardly the limit, knowing just how many beings of power she had met, who held so much more power. She was nothing to them but an ant or a fly on the wall. Something they could have weighed down and overwhelmed with their own power. It wasn't really anything she should have took pride in either, but she was rather pleased that doubling her power, would now put her on equal level to the Majin she met. That girl might have been a child, but it was precisely for that reason, which made it more likely the kid couldn't have likely progressed too far. Once she had caught up to someone so young, she was going to be nothing but well on her way into being someone more important. Gaining less dependency on others. There was a strong difference between having someone work for her, rather than her having to work for them. She was a leader, not someone who followed along the orders of another. If anything, she was more likely to betray if it was possible at all, and given enough incentive. But to do such a thing kicked off danger. The idea that death could strike at her, was only something she imagined would become more real, with what success she was able to find. Tournaments, their hosts couldn't stop the truly strongest from getting their winnings, but there was certainly individuals who were of that tier, and were corrupted. Able to live a life of comfort with what zeni they won, and what sponsorships they were able to get. Nothing covert compared to the leader that she had met, who was able to nonchalantly speak of what resources he had. That was so easily the kind of life that she had wanted to reach for herself. Only with that kind of status, could it really be said she was living the path she had chosen. Becoming a martial artist was far from the easiest thing, with all of the risks that were around. But there were so clear signs of it being worth it. Like a lot of things that had started to occur, since she had now gained the strength she had wanted, to finally make a departure from her school, she had winded up lucking out on a situation. Her power wasn't something necessary at all to suppress. Earthlings generally couldn't sense ki, fortunate as that as for them. And those who did, so long as she wasn't doing anything which was illegal, there was no real reason for them to see her as a cause of concern. More than anything, her choice to not suppress her power, opened the eyes of people of interest. Being the representative of a martial arts school, she naturally already held some kind of attraction, by the kanji that was on the back of her normal outfit. Different from any of the lower powers around, what could be seen of her if anything, was that of an opportunity, for those looking to hire. Something which had fell on her, and admittedly, wasn't something of consideration, when it came to the idea of earning zeni. Doing jobs for people, based on aiming for a target, was an easy task for those who had the power. But they were far less public about such things, than that of tournaments. Though considering what they were demanding of those they worked with, it was something she found to be understandable. It was by chance, and through using what zeni she had to live in a hotel, did she gain an interest into the kind of world which might have been a possibility for someone like her. They seemed more frequent than any tournament hostings, as far as she had been made aware of, and not really having one place she could call home, she was freely able to travel around the world. Such a thing was what she had wanted for a long time, but the path to it had seemed so far away, with what power she had previously held. But things were so different now. The training she did, with or without the help from the beings of power she had met, was something that she would say vastly paid off. Her control over her ki was at a point far better than it was before, and searching for weaknesses was something that had also improved, should condensing what ki she could, not do the job of hitting someone. With those kind of achievements in mind, it was easy to check out of the hotel she had been staying at, and walking outside to head where she was meant to be next. She had no ships or the like of her own, but given the time with how things were going for her lately, a planet of her own no longer seemed out of reach. Something she was looking forward to so eagerly. WC: 1,062, Dain Sincara

He had been waiting for a few minutes when the last person came in. Or at least so he presumed. The contractor had not spoken at all and just told him to wait till everyone was there. The Saiya-Jin had made himself comfortable in the corner where he could view the entire room and the inhabitants. So far roughly twenty people had gathered, aside from the guards and normal staff. They were all dressed like professional warriors. Judging from the outfits he could clearly divide them in three groups; Bounty hunters, mercenary´s and assassins. It was an odd bunch and definitely those on the rougher edge of the spectrum. Even as they were waiting he felt their urge for violence and action, to the point where several times people had to be pulled away from each other. In other words it was a bunch of scum, but they were definitely good at their job. Even in rest they gave of more energy than ordinary mortals and if he were a betting man, he would say the strongest could potentially have a power level of over three thousand. He had not clue what this was all about, but this must have been rather serious for their contractor to gather so many people. Still it did not interest him personally and if that was the strength required, he was just about to leave. None of these people held his interest and he had several subordinates on his ship that could very easily take his place in this group, or if he sent one of his lieutenants, they would even outclass these people. In any case there was no reason to stick around and he had already put his fingers on his forehead, when suddenly a girl entered the room. He only saw her from the corners of his eyes, but instantly she drew his attention, as the little hairs on the back of his neck stood up. He slowly removed the fingers from his forehead as he turned his head to give her a good look, when suddenly the doors closed and the lights dimmed. The next he knew a blue light pulsed from a small device in the ceiling. It confused Dain for a moment, but judging from the reactions of the others he could gather it had knocked out all devices in the room. Instinctively he reacted and he began to dash towards the Regentine. These were not the people to take surprises like this lightly and if any of them suspected a trap, they would not hesitate to eliminate every possible threat. Before he made it there though, the Regentine spoke up, raised her hand and spoke with such an air of authority and peace that she instantly pacified the room. “I would like to thank you all for coming and I won´t waste your time with wasted hospitality or gratitude. You are all here because of the contract we put up.” She said as the wall behind her turned on, apparently being some kind of screen. What it showed was nothing spectacular, just some old ruin in the middle of some dessert. She did not leave them time to guess though. “The job is very simple. Guard this ruin and he artifact we are studying. We know there are already people coming to claim it as their own, but this one belongs to my clan. We authorize any method available to protect this place.” She spoke as she snapped her fingers. Moments later the lights turned back on and the screen turned itself of. “So who is in?” She asked plainly as she sat down and waited for the group to respond. In terms of briefings it had been terrible, neither including what they were actually guarding, nor informing them about the real threat. The regentine seemed to count on it though that the bounty she offered for the job was high enough that none would question her and within moments she was proven to be right. Almost as one the group stepped forward to accept the job and Dain simply followed them. The job was easily enough, but he wondered about the girl that had walked in last. Unlike the rest of them, she seemed to be more a martial artist, rather than a professional killer and he wondered what she would do. “In or out?” He asked the girl with a neutral tone as he turned around and gave her another look. There was definitely something unusual about her, although he could not exactly pinpoint what it was. Word Count: 750 Total Word Count: 1300 (2 Posts) Rukia Date

The atmosphere certainly held a different tune. Within the city, it was easy to pick out just how many people within a crowd, might have ran away the moment that things had gone into chaos. They lacked both the power and the capability, to really do anything else, but even if they did have such qualities, it wasn't as if it was their duty to do so. Most people didn't want to die. A natural desire, but in a world where there was so many beings of power, having a choice in the matter was something easy to take away. All it would have really took, was someone in power, trying to start what they shouldn't, to make the lives of others worse than it was. An easy thing to say, knowing that the way things currently worked, people in society currently had an option. Those who didn't want to help defend the planet, it wasn't hard to see just who they were. Others had helped out through enlistment, or taking things through their own means. The being of power who could have taken their choices away from them, they might have had some difficulties, knowing just who had the interests in protecting the planet, but they would still manage to form casualties in the end. One life taken away, was all it really took to prove what they were. Their survival was another thing entirely, but no one made the efforts in trying to take a life, without some kind of confidence. She saw that here, more than anywhere else, although the power levels around, they still managed to be lesser than her own. Most of them. A lot of people had already gathered together here, so trying to feel out the signatures around, wasn't something which was quick work on her part. Especially not when she was more interested in getting a glimpse of them, than anything else. Their attire was well different. It was hard to say how long a lot of them might have been working, but if their powers were this low, the job couldn't have really been too bad, if it had allowed them to afford what they were wearing. The closing doors and the dimming lights had stopped her from really looking around any more, turning instead to the flash of blue light in the ceiling. Those around her had sounded confused, and from what she could make out while her eyes were adjusting to the darker light, it must have had to do with electronics. Though she had her own phone secured within a pouch around her waist, it wasn't much of a concern for her. She had only really needed it to help her find her way here, not really having use for it beyond the basics. How much experience did these guys have, to be so concerned about such a thing? They might have looked like they knew what they were doing, but something as small as this, was hardly something to panic about. Weren't these people supposed to be killers? There was a certain kind of humanity to see such a thing, somewhat bringing about the idea that they had something to be manipulated by. Most people did. But they were far from being subtle about it. A lot of what she saw could have been much more subdued. One guy in particular had dashed out from the crowd, and towards who she assumed was in charge around here. Something that became more obvious with the silence the woman was able to command. It was the kind of authority she had wanted for herself, and thankfully didn't seem as if this was the kind of reign, where there was an expectation to bow. At least for the moment. Her eyes had briefly glanced at the man who ran forward, as if there was something to be concerned about, though she wasn't sure what. She could have made guesses, but in the end, whatever disaster that he was expecting to have happened, she would have been able to use her aura to guard herself. The things to worry for, it was better to see or feel the chance of getting hit first, before anything else. To do otherwise, was just paranoia. The screen behind this woman, as a briefing was given, showcased a location that didn't look anything remarkable. It was more likely to be blasted apart if anything, by some kind of ki blast. But this was the mission that was being assigned, and all of these numerous different individuals to accomplish it as well. The artifact must have really been something important to garner such an interest. There might have been familiarity from the sound of things, maybe even an heirloom of sorts. But nothing about just what it was. Not that it was really any concern of hers. People around had gone and stepped forward, so it was a natural thing to go and do the same, no matter what information had been lacking. "Coming here was a choice, and there's no reason to back out, when so many are willing."It wasn't like this was a cult or anything, where members were being asked to take their own lives. There might have been some deaths, if those people weren't too careful, but they had accepted that risk. She had never really killed anyone before, as it was rather specific, that the teachings passed onto her and others, remained to be nothing more than training until they had graduated. But the idea wasn't something that was off-putting to her. Not when there was an incentive that obstacles kept her from receiving. She had yet to really find any tournaments since growing in power, so that was an effort that would take time trying to discover. This assignment here, seemed easy enough. To be asked about her role in all of this, by the man who had chosen to dash out, she had managed to eye him better now than the lighting there previously was. His build was athletic, as far as she could tell. "We also have our own reasons for being here. If you were meaning to point out my attire, your physique also stands out."Most people she saw within the city, had rather average bodies, if they weren't of an alien nature. Another choice in the kind of life this society gave, since human genetics allowed in equality. Nothing like what she knew other beings must have had. There were a lot of other things she could have really came up with, to go against what he had said, but there was no real reason to beyond conversation. Being new to this world, she wasn't even sure if anyone here even cared about giving names. But until it had seemed like there was really time to do so, she was content with just doing what others did. There was no being a leader of anything, without a grasp of what was normally done first. Just as the girl signed up, the computer attached to Dain´s buzzed. He activated it with the push of a button and a holographic display sprung up. As soon as he read the first line of the text, he quickly shot it down and withdrew for a few moments to read the message. When he came back a small smile played around his mouth. For a brief second he made eye contact with the Regentine. There was not really any communication, just a questioning look in Dain´s eyes and an almost invisible nod from the Regentine. It was all he needed. Apparently there was much more going on than he first thought and he was going to need an ally. For thoroughness he glanced over the room to find a suitable partner, but even from the beginning he knew only one person would be suitable. From all the rabble in the room, she seemed to be a cut above. With a few quick steps he crossed he room and tapped her gently on her shoulder to draw her attention and than winked to follow him. “Hey I know you don´t have any reason to trust me, but I have a better deal.” He whispered in her ear before heading around the corner. His wooden sandals made the familiar sound as he walked over the stone floor and as he turned around the corner he reached for one of his black cigarettes and let it with the tip of his fingers. He enjoyed the soft bite that he always felt as he filled his lungs with the black smoke and blew circles of smoke into the air as he waited for the girl. Just as he was about the blow out the last circle and was ready to inhale again he heard a command being bellowed from the main room. Apparently the group had assigned a leader and judging from their movement the men had begun to exit the building and make their way to the ships that would carry them to the dig. A smile played around his lips as he thought about the boring job they were about to undertake, compared to the one he had just been offered. From the brief mission report he got it became clear that the Regentine needed him to explore the ruins. Apparently they stretched underneath the surface for many, many miles and were filled with ancient technology that was unfamiliar to this planet and the Regentine had lost several dozen of good soldiers trying to explore it. “You coming or what?” He asked as he extinguished the cigarette between his fingers. Appearances could be deceiving. It was why that despite coming into a room full of individuals like this, she found it somewhat surprising just how organized they must have really be. The whole situation on the idea that any one of them could have backed out, she started to wonder just exactly what would have happened if anyone had. This woman who was in charge of everything, she held a certain presence over those who were here. Something easy to do with the proper resources, but what made her more than being capable of providing such attractions, was the commanding silence that she was able to obtain from all of these guys. It was hard to say if there was really any fear towards this woman, or what kind of respect had been gathered beyond what was obvious. With how they were asked to be the ones doing the protecting, it didn't seem as if this leader was going to be joining in, even if this artifact was important to her. Such success was something she wanted, but to be so behind the scenes in this kind of manner, was something she would have disagreed with. If anything, it would have been better to send them off as a distraction, or a wall of protection, while this woman could have gone and did something that was more useful. Ki wasn't something to be wasted, knowing just how easy it would be, for just about anyone to overcome someone too exhausted to fight. Especially if this whole assignment might not have been as easy as it had seemed. Though if these other guys were remotely even worried, excusing the earlier pause, she wasn't really seeing it on their faces. But it also wasn't like there was any visible danger right now. A tap on her shoulder, and a whisper into her ear, was what had made her turn around, finding the same man from before was now offering a different proposition. His approach was something unexpected, considering a tap on the shoulder and a wave would have done the same thing. But she would get over it. He had left before she could say anything, making the only choice she really had, being to follow after to really hear just what this was all about. He must have had more importance to this leader, if he believed he was able to walk away freely like this. It sounded like the others were already starting to leave, which took a lot longer than she would have thought. There should have already been a subordinate waiting. These different kind of approaches she kept on seeing, it wasn't really the best attraction to what this side of society had to offer. A lot of people tended to believe that they could do better, but it was these kind of things that made it undeniable, that this wasn't some kind of exaggeration on her part. If it took that long to get those guys out of the building, then who knows how much longer it'd take for them to get to the actual ruins. This man too, only really told her very little than what seemed necessary. She knew a lot of other people, who would have started explaining things, since there wasn't too much noise around now. But there was a difference between doing so for it to be said, and actually being interested in what the other party wanted to say about it. Things were like that on her expedition with Netto. She couldn't really remember the man talking that much, even though she had brought up a lot of things herself. But seeing as how she had been hoping to get something out of the expedition, she supposed she shouldn't be really complaining. Someone of his accomplishments could have been lively though. "What makes this different from what the others are doing?"There might have been similarities, but she couldn't really say it was the exact experience, which she had with Netto. Not when this kind of atmosphere wasn't really suited for just talking. They were still well within this building rather than traveling, and as much as she didn't mind being the conversationalist, things were different while actually being on the road with some kind of purpose. With the powerful changeling she had met, she might have been following him around, while also talking here and there, but they hadn't really even gone anywhere. A lot of the things she said were yawned off. It took patience to swallow that kind of thing, knowing what she had mentioned, wasn't exactly the kind of stuff he supposedly claimed he had no knowledge of, if he was so new to earth culture. But she supposed aliens were just really confident where it was unnecessary. WC: 801, TWC: 3,033, Dain Sincara

Dain waited for the others to have left the building before he finally spoke. Or rather acted. He detached the small communicator from his arm, opened the message and handed it to her so the girl could read it for herself. “The difference is that while the others will protect the perimeter of the ruins, while we can earn three times as much for exploring the ruins and finding some kind of artifact.” Dain said as he gently placed his hand on her shoulder and placed two fingers on his forehead. “Sorry for this, but we need to be inside before the others arrive. Otherwise it would draw too much attention.” He said with slight pleasure in his voice as he what he was about to do could technically be counted as abduction. A moment later they vanished and appeared at the entrance to the ruins. He quickly let go of her shoulder and backed away a few paces to avoid being slapped for his inappropriate actions. “My name is Dain Sincara by the way. You might have heard of me, if not, it will suffice to say I am a professional bounty hunter and mercenary.” He continued as he began to make his way towards the ruin. “The choice is your my dear, whether you follow me or not. The rewards are much higher, but so is the danger. I can´t guarantee your safety, even with all my experience and gear.” He said casually, but loud enough for her to here it. Dain wanted her to come, as he always preferred to work in a team, but he did not want to force her hand. If she came it would have to be her own decision. Without waiting to see he made his way to the entrance, only to see the doors slam shut in front of him. It surprised him, as the mission statement had not mentioned anything like that. From what he had gathered the first teams had been able to enter without problems and only further in encountered problems it seemed. He wondered if somehow the teams had activated some kind of defenses. It was not much use to think about it, nor did they have the time. The first groups of other mercenary´s would arrive within minutes and he really did not want them to see them entering or they might get the same idea. “Hey could you help me `open´ the door?” Dain asked hastily as he began to make preparations. Regardless of how she would open the door, he would need to make sure their were no lingering effect or traces that would lead the other to conclude they had just entered. There were differences here and there from her last encounter with a being of power.
Though rather than seeing similarities from the alien, who had previously held the title of being the strongest being she had met, she was more reminded of the nonchalant leader apart of the Z-Force.
The whole assignment here, had the same idea of finding something special to someone, with a level of possible danger she couldn't really be sure just how serious it was. To go and be told of something, was different from actually experiencing it, and for a world like this, it was hard to gauge things.
For the most part, he was going into less detail than the other man, which wasn't much of a bad thing either. He seemed like he knew what he was doing, even if he seemed to be watching her own actions.
The details to what he was proposing wasn't inaccurate from what he was already explaining. She didn't have much reason to doubt his words, though it was interesting that despite being given this whole task, he wasn't giving any clear indication of just how special this family artifact really was.
Something she couldn't get out and ask, because within a blink of an eye, she found herself away from the location where everyone had been, to somewhere else entirely. The technique was beyond surprising, even knowing that it was some kind of teleportation, which didn't seem to even take that much ki.
"Rukia Date, of the Demon Leopard School."
There were a few things she had wanted to say about just what happened, but if they were really going to be doing introductions, it was best to get that out of the way first. Although she would have thought with this whole contract stuff, and the kind of killing that could be involved, that was already obvious.
These people probably had some certain ties that allowed them access to information, of which the public wouldn't have been able to garner for themselves in the kind of manner that she imagined.
The influential had so many better things. Had she been with that woman instead, there would have been even more things on her mind than a few similarities, but ultimately still would have been acceptance.
"I didn't grow up in the city, so I can't say I have."
The reputation he was making himself out to have, wasn't anything that really needed any doubting. Though even if she did know of who he was, it wasn't like that would have really changed anything.
This kind of life seemed more like it revolved around accomplishing whatever was tasked, and it was this kind of thing when it came to getting a better offer, that she doubted most people would even receive.
"Are you going to explain where you manage to learn that kind of technique?"
Rather than respond to his constant bombarding on whether or not she wanted to back out, she wanted to at least get that out of the way, before things might have kicked off, to whatever danger he was suggesting there was going to. It was an old ruin. The thing was more likely to collapse from flaring ki than be some kind of spot where the most powerful would have gathered together. Besides, being here was exposure.
The last couple of fights she had against beings of power, they had ended in herself losing. Something to be expected, knowing they had more experience than she did. There were a lot of excuses she could have came up with, but she worked more on the idea of improvement, which was something of a long path for her.
If only because that energetic girl she had met some weeks before, was easily able to overcome what she had, because of the weight of that power. To surpass someone like that, would have made so many things easier, since it was a first where mustering what power she had, served to be a weakness.
"So what now?"
She followed him inside, only to find the door suddenly be slammed shut. Something obviously unnatural, and served to be a bit ominous. With the kind of speed they must have traveled at, no one else should have really been here. Although that woman also didn't really dive into what they would be expecting.
He had seemed to hold some kind of idea though, judging from his response. Where they going to just walk back out instead of exploring then? There was a little bit of urgency in his voice, which was an odd thing to really pick up on, knowing both his experience, and what she could really feel of his power.
But regardless, she had turned to the door that had closed behind them. Gathering ki into her hands, she took the stance of her school, before slamming her fists into the door, at certain points.
A barrage was something she would have opted to do, but wasting too much ki now was unnecessary. The power she was mustering was still something adequate enough, and would have easily crippled someone, if this hadn't been just a door. Her aura protected her hands from feeling stinging longer than a few seconds.
If danger was something that was supposed to show up, he must have thought of something, if she was the only one taking care of this whole thing. She tried to feel for any other presences herself, although wasn't going to really bother still with hiding her own power, unless he had did the same.

OOC: Rukia, next part is up to you, to drive the story forward. Just go with it and I´ll follow. I mean you can pick the type of enemy/being/creature/experiment we are up against. The heavily reinforced door gave way with a load moan and both halves of the door were launched inside the structure. The minimal amount of effort it took her, as well as the well practiced stance she used, impressed him. Furthermore he was impressed by her restraint. Most people would have simply blown the door up, but that would not only have been a waste of energy, it would also have left a smoking crater. It would have alerted everyone that the entrance would have been disturbed and draw attention. “Well done Rukia.” He said with a friendly smile as he stretched out his arms and caught the heavy doors in mid air with his telekinesis. With a quick motion he gently put them against the wall, before reaching into his robe. With a quick motion he pulled out four small items and placed two on each side of the entrance. “So now we should be good.” He said with a satisfied nod as the four devices began to hum softly, before erecting a forcefield to cover the door. Like this it looked like they were never there, which was the whole point. “Okay time for the truth I guess.” The Saiya-Jin said as he casually began to make his way into the temple. “As you might have suspected, this has all been a ruse until now. I owed the Regentine a favor, so I played along. The truth is that there is neither unknown technology nor an ancient artifact here.” He spoke without showing any remorse for lying to her, as if it was the most ordinary thing in the world. -which was actually not that far of in his line of work- “I don´t know the long version, so I´ll tell you the short version I got. It is the usual bullshit. Some scientist has ruined some kind of experiment that is about to break free or get loose and guess what…” He said with a confidant grin as he turned to the cute girl besides him. “… we get to clean up their mess as usual.” He said still grinning as he shrugged his shoulders. Dain had seen this kind of mess too often to actually be shocked or upset by it. He had seen it all and had become a bit stoic about it. In title he was one of the most famous and bestbounty hunters, in reality he was just the best paid cleaner in the universe. “By the way I would not be against it to teach this technique to you. It will take some time though, so we´d best do it after we get out of this.” Just as he was about to continue speaking he heard something in the far distance. Yet he felt no energy signature at all. “Look I am pleased to have you assist me. From what I can tell you are a skilled and well trained fighter, not to mention you are powerful.” Dain continued as he heard the noise again in the far distance, eerily creeping closer. The Saiya-Jin was an accomplished fighter and seasoned warrior, but his fighting style was almost completely dependent on his ability to sense energy. If that failed he could still hold his own with raw speed and well trained reflexes. None of that mattered in an underground complex, where he could not detect their presence and they could be hiding in every corner. The hairs in the back of his neck were standing up, as he drew his katana and pointed it towards the corridor the noise was coming from. “You asked me what is next. Well how about we get to work?” Dain said, trying to sound as casual as possible, as he began walking towards the corridor. “So mind if I ask where you learned that stance? It was rather impressive.”Word Count: 700 Total Word Count: 2,900 (4 Posts) Rukia Date

The doors weren't anything of issue. No matter just what was going on around here, there was only so much the ones behind this, could have really done with this trap. Whether it was just this door, or one of many similar, it would have been hazardous to make leaving to be something inescapable. Exhaustion was the only thing she could see be more viable, if the intention was to worn them out, just to kill them for whatever reason they had. Her efforts on the door had been successful, but what came next, was all meant to be up to this man. He was the one who knew more about this society than she really did. If things were really as pressing of a matter as he had made the situation out to be, then something big was likely to come from all of this. While the pain within her hands slowly subsided, she watched him perform clear telekinesis, another ability that the average person didn't have, using it to move the doors that she had broke down. No matter how many different beings she meant, who held some kind of talent of their own, it was always going to astound her just how nonchalant they were about it. Didn't matter if half of them were alien in nature either. Most of these guys should have been on Earth long enough to recognize what Humans lacked. The security for the door, was the kind of technology she was yet able to afford for herself, but also put to mind the question of just why the door had to be knocked down in the first place. Putting it a couple of feet away, seemed like it would have been easier, if this was really meant to be a forcefield of sorts. "You're giving too much credit. A lot about either assignments, weren't anything not to take straightforward."Following him into this place, the pacing they were going at was far different from the 'scare' that entrance was meant to have been. All of the things that he was saying just as well, assumed a lot of her. It was different from how Netto had questioned what she really knew of, since despite having the group he did, he was someone who wondered if she even had the ability to fly. Certain people who didn't practice ki could be confident, but there was no way she would have survived against a Majin, without doing so herself. "So is that supposed to just keep the others guessing on how to get in?"No family heirloom filled with power, just some kind of experiment gone wrong. Scientists were hardly lacking, and while she didn't know too much about what work they really did, she did know about the idea of sub-labs. They were meant to be secret, something of hideouts, and contained personal works. She supposed this must have been something akin to that, if it really had an experiment, whatever it was. There wasn't anything to really protest about this. It was more just a lot of steps, if what she was thinking was right. Why bother inviting any of the others, if he believed two people could handle things? Were they supposed to act as some kind of backup? Lives could have easily been something lost here, but they weren't really any concern of hers, if things really did get to that kind of point. Her focus was more so just what was meant to be considered a mission accomplish here. Taking down someone's personal subject, because that woman had wanted something like this to happen? It was all very much different from what she had expected, and this encounter only added onto how less insane her own beliefs must have been in comparison. Pitting two school of thoughts against each other, was hardly an issue. "Which one? Telekinesis is useful, but it's something too obvious."In a manner of speaking. Once a person was made aware of that kind of ability, it didn't really serve to be that much of an advantage. At least in comparison to the kind of teleportation that he had shown. A technique like that, with enough ki to use it, could be just the element of surprise needed within a fight. If he had these kind of things at his arsenal, this whole situation really must have been routine. There was some kind of noise, which cause she knew to be what they were meant to be up against. Sound as it was, especially when it came to ki, couldn't really estimate the size of the source it came from. But the noise wasn't enough to collapse the ruins, though that was even assuming it was trying to in the first place. The lack of a signature, only really said to her how whatever it was, knew what it was doing. "There are a lot of martial schools out there, with a lot of martial artists. I've also met a handful of people about your level. I'm a number until I make something more of myself."Praise wasn't anything new to her, but it didn't hold the kind of meaning it might, had he said it to someone else. She was pretty aware of what competition there was, and unless something had involved itself against her, even the planet being attacked wasn't much of a priority, beyond what interests she had. "The school's around the area of East City on non-public land. A lot of us grew up and learned things there, instead of going to more normal schools."She had already mentioned the name of her school, where she had learned the techniques from, just like any other style passed on theirs. There was so many different fighting forms though, and only few that was practically universally recognized. She wasn't really exaggerating about how she saw her position. While he had drawn out a katana for whatever was ahead, she had just kept her guard, knowing all of what she knew when it came to offense, were all physical based. There was the natural use of ki to it, protecting her from too much stinging pain, but it wasn't something that was really energy base. He assumingly had a bit of an advantage there, but it was a cover for what she lacked.
Looking forward to the future. It was a simple motto which concept had allowed those listening, to fill in their own idea of just what the future had held. With some suggestions here and there about what mankind had the potential of achieving, a picture could be painted on the society they had yet to meet. What were going to be the steps necessary to get there? A question to be worked on. To be molded by the interaction imposed onto it by others. That was what would lead to creation. Discovery. Materials were important as well, with how ideas needed funding. An acquisition not possible without gathering everything into place. Forming what was meant to gain their support. The research and data that was compiled together, it was always going to be challenged. Something like the work of another was unavoidable. To be the first of something, was to be the kind of example that others had reason to do better against. But they wouldn't and couldn't, if everything had worked out. If success was all this project had saw, in what it was meant to test in the first place. The location was unconventional, and those it could possibly target, wouldn't bring any attention beyond what was necessary. There might be recognition of the work, but absolutely nothing could be done about it. A creation that was able to see life, they had just about every right to make something of their time. No individual was without purpose. Without reason. What efforts could come from this, the lives that could be lost, wouldn't be in vain. Those who wished to seek vengeance, they'll come to know it was better to live. Armor. Scorpion. Inorganic and organic material, joined together to become something more than what they were alone. The image of the subject was strong within his mind, and its potential, a factor to look forward to seeing. When it was done exhausting itself, he would come for it, to see what it gained. But for now, he would lie in wait, watching to see what it could make of itself. WC: 1,412, TWC: 5,375

Dain shook his head slightly as she questioned his motives, yet quickly regained his posture. After all it was a fair question, he just was not used to people questioning him. “Okay good point, let me explain.” Dain said seriously as he lowered his sword for a moment and turned back to Rukia. “We are the cleaning crew, the others are there for more of a… security team. They have been told they are too guard the outside from invaders, yet in truth they are there to prevent anything from getting out. If it somehow manages to get past us.” He said as he took a few steps forward and examined the wall that drew his attention. It was high tech, yet something was odd about it. Dain could not detect anything, but he felt the wall had looked slightly different a moment before. After inspecting it closer though he could not find anything odd about it and even placing his hand upon the wall and releasing a dose of energy did nothing. So he shrugged and turned his attention back to Rukia. “The door was locked down, probably as part of the labs security lockdown. Destroying it gained us entrance, the shield is to prevent the others from getting inside and getting in our way.” He finished the explanation, withholding the thought that it was also about keeping something inside. Truth be told the Saiya-Jin probably could have finished the whole ordeal if he got serious, but he hated these kind of missions. He did not know the enemy, nor could he sense it. Even he could fall victim to a monster if he was not careful and his experience had taught him exactly that. To be careful. “Nah you are actually the second strongest human I´ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.” He said with a genuine smile as he nodded, emitting the fact of course he had met a few Earthlings roughly five hundred years ago that were actually stronger then he was now. “Judging from your technique and the previous display I´d easily guess you at over 9000!” He said with a smile as he continued forward and winked her to follow him as they progressed. “More then the legendary Goku had at your age.” He said with a wink, fully aware the name was probably lost in time anyway. With each step they took they entered deeper in the belly of the beast and the sense of dread was growing stronger with each step. The Saiya-Jin had rarely felt this way in his long career. Something was really wrong! His eyes frantically searched the corridors as they passed them shooting wildly from left to right as he kept the sword trembling in hand. “Well Rukia, I could teach you both… if we survive.” He said as his lips became nothing more then a quaint line and beads of sweat dripped from his forehead. This is ridiculous… He thought to himself as he cursed himself for being this nervous. 1400 year old and almost trembling with fear as if he was a young pup again. “Be careful! I am getting a very ba-!” Dain´s warning coming almost too late as suddenly an entity rose from the ground and fired a devastating KI-Blast at them. The feeling of such power, having the effect of light when wearing night vision goggles. Suddenly all his senses he had been stretching to the limit lit up and nearly caused a sensory overload. Purely on instinct and experience he managed to swing his sword up, slicing the blast in half, causing it to explode harmlessly around them. Yet the smoke covering the hall was perhaps worse then the damage the blast could have done. Dain coughed a bit as he tried to get his bearing and understood what he had just saw. From the ground rose some kind of metal android, as if it was liquid, taking shape in the split of a second and fired a huge blast at them. Too make it worse that tail looked not only deadly and threatening… it looked like it had a purpose. “Not bad, too bad you too will fall, as nothing will stand in my way.” A cold voice came from the end of the corridor, apparently warning them. That was a mistake in Dain´s book, probably one a lot of young villains made. They talked too much. A flaw Dain did not care to share. With a quick yell he let his energy explode around him, the black KI turning gold instantly. In a moment the shockwave cleared the corridor, revealing the metal monster standing perplex, staring at the super Saiya-Jin. “DIE! Dain said with a growl as he clasped his hands together and released the strongest energy beam he could, instantly filling the entire corridor. What Dain could not see though was the fact that the android had stuck it´s tail into the ground and he certainly did not notice the pointy tail exiting from the low ceiling above him. Just as his wave was about to strike, the tail shot down and struck Dain directly in the neck, just between the spine. “The… f-fuck?” Dain said as the wave of pain instantly soared through him and he sank down on one knee, his golden aura vanishing instantly and the wave dispersing before it could hit the target. Poison… Dain thought as he stared at his trembling hands. He had been poisoned enough to recognize the feeling. Worse though it also seemed to have a paralyzing effect, stronger then he had ever experienced. Usually his immortal body could withstand a bit of poison and damage, yet now he was already experiencing trouble moving even his fingers. “Rukia, go! Get it!” Dain managed to bring out softly as he struggled to move his right hand to the small device on his left arm. Mostly because he hated to be seen in this state. “Don´t worry, I will catch up!” He said, acting tougher then he actually felt, as he finally managed to reach the device and touch the button. Instantly his black Katchin armor deployed, covering him from head to toe. With a brief of relief Dain managed to push himself up. Or rather Peet, the suits AI, interpreted his brain waves and caused the suit to move. Eventually he would be able to recover, his body always did, but until then the suit would have to move him around like a puppeteer. Perhaps it would have been best to retreat and think of a strategy, but there no longer was that choice. He had underestimated the beings ability and it was clearly much more dangerous than he could have anticipated. Not only could he not let Rukia face it alone, he did not want to run the risk of the being escaping and voiding his contract. “He yelled, the suit synthesizing his voice as he/it dashed into the direction he had seen Rukia vanish.Word Count: 1,200 Total Word Count: 4,100 (4 Posts) Rukia Date

Now in this universe there is very little that could potentially kill the Saiya-Jin warrior. In fact so far he has met none, despite some epic trying to find them. Things that could slow him down and even cripple him however, those were a plenty. It was a ridiculous thing his abductors had played on him. They had modified his cells and being to where it could not die. At the very least they could have made him a bit more resistant towards damage. Why would they not make his body resistant towards even the most basic of poisons. Though he had to admit it probably would not have done him any good in this scenario. He could tell the poison was extremely potent, not only destroying his mobility, but causing some major damage to his nerves. Had it not been for his suit he would have been completely immobilized. It was the most potent substance he had encountered in years and the Saiya-Jin was almost glad for a moment that he was who he was. He had learned over the years many techniques to negate poison and albeit they were only halting it´s progress for now, it did allow his body to start repairing the damage. To boost his suit contained several systems that allowed him to negate pain, the most potent being a super form of morphine. He was a bit hesitant to use it, as it was very easy to get addicted to, but at the moment he had no choice. Had he not used it, he would probably have screamed out in pain with every moment the suit made. Still there was much he would rather not have experienced right now. “Peet, make haste and calibrate your sensors to this new entity. Next time I want to detect it before I see it!” Dain said to the onboard AI, biting through the pain, as they dashed through the corridor. It was a losing battle though. Even with his suit in control, he did not have enough power to actually defeat this creature and his body was not responding to his summons for more energy. “Blast this mortal form!” Dain said between the waves of pain as the cyborg was literally hammering him all across the room, appearing above and beyond him every time before the suit could compensate and react. Wait… mortal form! A thought suddenly emerged. With a last ditch effort Dain summoned all the power he could and managed to clench his fist. He might have been unable to summon his strength, but this form was different. It was more a surrender to the elements and surrendering was all his body was capable of right now. Golden energy washed over him as he felt his mortal body melt away. Lightning began to arc as more and more of his body was transformed into his basic element. As it did, so did the limitations of his mortal body. The pain falling away as the poison no longer had anything living cells to attack. His strength returning quickly and as it did, more and more golden energy washed through the room, until his own armor began to tear apart from the build-up inside. “Oi! Now you have done it!” Dain said with a grin as he pressed the button on the wrist of his suit, which immediately began to retract into the bracelet it had come from. Leaving the Saiya-Jin standing in his elemental form, a body of pure lightning, radiating far more power then before. Of course he was not in peak condition, not after everything he had been through, but it was enough. The next time the cyborg appear behind him and kicked him in the back, nothing happened. Lightning arced at the spot where it´s feet had connected, absorbing the impact. “Hello sweetie! It is time to meet your maker!” He said with a grin as he clenched his fist and howled loudly, allowing his body to release all the energy inside, blowing the female cyborg away, until it slammed into the wall at the back of the room. Dain cracked his neck as he started walking towards her, uncaring about the face of dread she was currently making. She was strong, a marvel of technology and apparently even capable of emulating feelings. Yet Dain was too much of a soldier, too care much. From a young age he had been trained to kill and he had no sympathy left for beings such as this. Especially after what she had done to him. Without wavering even a second he walked straight through the storm of KI-Blasts she was firing straight at him. The room filled itself with explosions, yet nothing she threw at him even slowed him down. The gap in power now reversed and much bigger then before, she had no chance to win. “Bye. You were a worthy adversary. Just bad luck to run into me.” Dain said with a grin as he walked straight through an energy beam, finally deflecting it with a flick of his hand as he almost had reached her. As he was almost near her though she used her trump card and swung her tail towards Dain. “Oh my god, you are cute. Did you really believe that would work again?” He said with a cocky, arrogant grin, as he looked her straight in the eyes. His own tail, wrapped solidly around hers, stopping it before the sharp, poisons tail could reach him. Albeit he was unsure of whether the tail could still have an affect on his body, he was not willing to take the chance with that poison. Instead he had a much better idea. As his tail was wrapped tightly around her tail, he fed a high current through it. Just as with forging with his hands, the electricity could reach incredibly high temperatures and within less then a second he felt the metal tail grow soft and in the next he simply cut it off, by contracting his tail and slicing it of like an overdue sausage. It felt on the floor, still wriggling like a fish for a few seconds, before it finally went silent. For some reason seeing it there, made Dain actually feel happy. Perhaps it was because the hurt she actually caused him with it. It was weird, he rarely actually felt something when maiming his opponents. It was just a job to him, but this time he felt definite pleasure, yet there was something else. “Are you sure you won´t join me?” He asked curiously as he placed his hands upon her chest. Golden energy welled up and a bright light began to radiate from her chest, indicating what would come next. Her inevitable destruction. For some reason though Dain felt a bit reluctant to destroy such a wonderful construction. She was obviously intelligent and the design amazing. The destruction would simply be a waste. The robot however did not give him much of a choice. Although it looked like she was momentarily contemplating her options, in the end the doubt faded and she began to struggle to escape, without even having said a word. “Shame… was all Dain said as he pushed her against the wall with renewed strength and released the energy that had been building up in his hands. A moment later the android and the complex were completely engulfed as he released the full power his ascended state. The entire facility and surrounding lands shook, the earth cracked and golden lightning burst through the cracks in a radius of several miles around the complex. Instantly the robot was destroyed and Dain was about to get out the facility, which was collapsing due to the damage, when Petey gave him an update. She suddenly had detected a layer beneath the area he was standing it. It probably had been shielded before, as it suddenly showed up after the attack, probably due to something being destroyed in his attack. Of course this piqued Dain´s curiosity already, as this already had been the lowest room, with the most important equipment and research. Including the android. He wondered what could have been below. It must have been important though and with a grin on his face he gathered a large amount of KI in his feet and stamped, breaking the ceiling in a single motion… and falling through it at the same time, having made an error in judgment. A few moments later he groaned, pushing himself up, pushing himself through several tons of rubble. The taste of blood and dust mixing in his mouth. As he got up, he started looking around and found to his surprise a large room, filled with all kinds of technology. Well that was not the surprise, it was that in the center there was a rather large computer, along with some kind of vat that contained a duplicate android. Or rather… it seemed to be building a new one, as he could see she was not yet complete. “Peet, could you hack into that computer and see what it is for?” He asked curiously as he walked towards the console and placed his hand upon it, giving the AI direct access. It took longer then expected for the AI to respond, but finally it did as it managed to crack the final layer of encryption. “Oh looks like we hit the jackpot and got lucky. Apparently this is the device to create the android. The entire facility and research was build around this machine. It is capable of operating completely independent, creating androids, learning from their flaws and even programming them… Oh my! They were ambitious. They intended to use this as a test subject and once it worked to automate the process. If build on the scale they intended, they could possibly raise an army of thousands. All being better then the last, constantly adapting and improvi-” Peet continued, only to be interrupted by Dain´s thoughts. Wait a minute… Dain thought to himself as his eyes shot open. He had heard that description before! A legend about something… something… Star? There was something with star… he stood there contemplating for a few moments until suddenly it hit him! “Peet, connect with Petey and search for something called the Big Gete Star! Overlay the description and look for similarities between what you just described and the rumored artifact.” Dain said as he removed his hand from the console and began pacing through the room, inspecting a few panels here and there. In fact though he was merely waiting for Petey to get back to him though. It took surprisingly long though, but the message Peet relayed was by far even more surprising. “You were right. The descriptions are surprisingly similar, in fact one might even say that this was an attempt to create the legend… except it is not a legend anymore.” Peet explained, loving the dramatics as it were, waiting for Dain to look surprised, before continuing. “Yes you heard me. According to this research it is not simply an attempt to recreate a legend. These people did find the actual thing and are simply are trying to make a new one. The robots are simply a first step. They want to recreate the chip that effectively is the Neo Gete Star. I even have enough data to extrapolate were it recently was and possibly a possible current course.” The AI continued endlessly, before finally shutting up. Normally Dain did not care much for it talking so much, but this was interesting enough that he listened intently. He had heard the rumors about the star, so big and impressive, it could devour entire planets and use them for materials. “Okay that is it. Peet, teleport this pod and computer on board the Atrioch. Place it in a protective field and prevent it from hatching the cyborg until further notice. Then go through all the data and find the best possible location for the Neo Gete Star and set a location towards it. I will come and find you there.” Dain said, making a snap decision on the go. He was not even sure what to do with the star yet, whether to admire it, save it or destroy it. All in all he needed to be close to do so and it was something he at the very least wanted to see with his own eyes. A moment later the computer vanished and Dain flew up in the air. Still covered in golden lightning he gathered an impressive amount of energy into his hands and fired it straight down the hole he just flew up from. For a moment there was nothing and then the entire area vanished in a gigantic explosion, swallowing up all the guards at the same time. Perhaps a shame, but he wanted no one to know what he had just discovered. He then placed two fingers on his forehead, vanished and appeared in the room they had been before, standing straight in front of the Regentess. “Okay the job is done. The threat has been contained, the facility destroyed and I took the computer for safe keeping.” Dain said in a neutral voice, quickly interrupting the woman as an upset look appeared on her face and she began to speak. He did not give her the chance. “No my favor has been done. I am no longer in your debt. Seriously experimenting with such a technology… you could have destroyed the entire planet. You should be lucky I don´t turn you in. Consider that a final favor. Next time though I even get a whiff of you restarting this experiment, I will come back and finish the job. For good!” He said harshly, letting there be no chance that she could misunderstand him, before teleporting out and appearing on his ship. “Petey are we on route?” He asked straight away as he sat down in his chair. Upon the confirming answer, he grasped the handles in his chair and began feeding a huge amount of energy into the ship, so much it could only be sustained in his ascended form, but he cared not. He wanted to see the star! “Maximum velocity then, let´s see that bad boy with our own eyes.” He said with a grin, feeling the acceleration a moment later. It had been a weird day, with weird encounters and a surprising enemy, yet the reward had been far beyond anything he could guess. He was on his way to meet a legendary, planet eating, spaceship!
