A crack of sunlight pierces through a bedroom window and on a small futon is a sleeping Asuka finally able to gain a semblance of rest after a grueling battle she had just recently scraped out of just a few days ago. As the light shines on her face she slowly blinks her eyes open. “Morning already, man I haven’t slept like that in a while. Well, I’d better look at the schedule, I can’t remember if I work today or not…” As she gets up out of her bed she heads down a hallway leaving her room empty for a moment. “Sweet!” she cries out as she returns to her bedroom and rushes into her closet. “Off day whoop whoop Off day whoop whoop!” she cheers as she enters back into her room, she grabs a towel a hair tie and a spare change of clothes she heads into the shower emerging a short moment later dressed in an orange sweater with holes cut open where the sleeves should be along with a blue shirt underneath and a pair of black shorts and white tennis shoes, with her arms and legs still wrapped in her signature tape. “Good luck with the shop today Netto sensei!” Asuka says as she puts the finishing touches on her hair, placing in her hairbands to keep her braided ponytail in check. She then grabs a leash, to which her Shiba inu Shinyu is more than overjoyed to hear. “C’mon boy! Let’s stretch those legs of yours.” “Arf! Arf!” goes the pup.
As the youth traverses the streets she’s greeted by the many townspeople in her neighborhood who all recognize her as an employee at the local shop run by one Netto White. Smiling back and making small talk Asuka took great joy in it because it gave her life a sense of normalcy she occasionally felt she was lacking when she wasn't training, however, the events of the last few days weighed on her mind. But for now, she was going to forget about all that and try to relax a little bit. And speaking of which, as Asuka rounded a corner she noticed that her favorite spot in the whole town the “1 UP arcade.” seemed to have advertising up, a sale to be exact, half price off admission and bonus tickets seeing drew a look of elation in the girls' eyes. “I know what I’m doing today!” she said as she glared at the sign with an enthusiastic grin. The arcade was one of the youth’s favorite places to hang out and when she wasn't training or helping out around the house this was where she spent a majority of her time, and with nothing on her plate for the day and being desperately in need of a distraction Asuka figured it was the perfect way to spend her day. And so after completing another lap or two around the block with her playful pup, Asuka returned home to grab her wallet and head out to the arcade.
Upon arrival inside of the arcade one could see that it was a combination of state of the art along with partly old school having a mix of classic arcade cabinets and even more modern style arcade machines like Skeeball and air hockey. The room had dark lightning with neon style light fixtures to accentuate the room. Asuka headed up to the counter and dropped down 200 Zeni. “Hi can I get an allday pass please!” after the cashier took her cash and handed her an armband Asuka felt like a kid in a candy store, she perused around the area searching for the fighting game section Asuka’s genre of choice ever since she was a young girl, immediately taking to her favorite one once she found it out of the corner of her eye. “Legacy Fighter II: Final Round.”
“And there it is!” she said as she marched toward the machine cracking her knuckles, it's cabinet was rather faded with an image of a martial artist wearing a rather unique outfit that gave him something of a stoic and disciplined vibe, along with a villain standing above him clutching a globe within his hands.
“Time to earn the high score!” she said as she allowed the machine to scan her armband and the menu screen for the game began to start up the lights of the cabinets shining in her eyes as intense and energetic music blasted from the machine.
“Select your character!”
Said the machine as a plethora of characters showed up on screen the graphics in the game seemed relatively dated, but perhaps it was its age that game its character that drew players to it so much. However, it was Asuka’s love for martial arts that drew her to games like this she had
A special fondness for the games protagonist, Lon a martial artist/military soldier who was determined to avenge the loss of his master and squadmates after he was killed at the hands of the games main antagonist “Ralhiem.” a brutal villain/dictator who wants to use the war in order to assimilate the most powerful soldiers on the planet. Lon’s heroic attitude and strong sense of justice really allowed her to connect to the character. “Man, Lon is so cool, Ralhiem is going down!” she said as she started the first level of her game. Blazing through the first few fights with ease, she was truly in what one might call her happy place. However, despite being a loner, Asuka did occasionally want to have a friend or two of her own race to hang out with. She works for a demon and lived alongside a Majin, but aside from one other person never really met anyone who was like her that she connected with. And after taking down the arcade mode with such ease, she looked around to see if anyone else wanted to play but still found herself alone. “Anyone wanna play?” she said, her words rather casual but once she saw the other kids backing away from her due to her skill, she simply returned to play through the single-player mode once again. “Fine by me.” she said, casually returning to her game session.
