Quadrant: Wild Space, East Quadrant
Planet: Near Planet Cane
Three weeks, it's been.
Three weeks since his encounter with Emperor Carambolis. Two weeks since that mission with Crusher Corps, and ever since then he had found himself perplexed. The seven million that he was provided with as payment for a successful mission back on Planet Cane had proved quite useful, allowing the Pirate Captain to completely re-outfit his crew and specialize in something new. Traveling to Space Vegas, Kamui found himself elevating to the higher levels of organized crime in the lower sectors of the planet's supercity. Prior, he had drawn the eye of various scum, most likely in the form of disgraced mercenaries, thieves, bandits, and killers on the run. This time, he was looking for something more.
He wanted professionals.
And he got them. Contracting professional criminal mercenaries from half a dozen systems, Kamui's crew, renamed The Hellhounds, had taken up a new specialization. No longer were they pirates, plaguing lone ships across the galaxy. They were mercenary soldiers for hire, contracted as soldiers for hire for various governments at war, as bounty hunters to tackle individual or large groups of targets, or even to supply their weapons to others, at a price. It was a different experience then the rowdy nature of his old crew, but it was a welcome change. These men....trained soldiers and killers in their own right, were a much more cohesive unit, and proved on average much stronger than the low level grunts he was picking up before. Not to mention, they were generally more educated! Simple math problems did not stump the masses as it did before, which was unfortunate considering most of his pirate crew of old were well into their twenties and thirties, some even pushing forty. But god forbid you asked them to count that far on their fingers. In addition to hiring a brand new assortment of soldiers, pushing eighty and increasing, Kamui had outfitted his soldiers with Anti-Material Rifles, as per Cam's advice back on Planet Cane, as well as a specialized form of the Frieza Force old model RIT Armor, except crafted with that of today's tech and material, instead of the age old material used by the PTO back when the RIT Armor style was first developed. In conclusion, each mercenary soldier was outfitted with a scouter, in which their communication was tied to Kamui, as well as Kamui's other officers.
It was an interesting shift, but ultimately Kamui felt that he had made the right choice. Just as he felt that this decision....could potentially be correct. Or it could be a very big mistake, that could get him killed ultimately. One would just have to see.
Kamui had instructed Fritz to plot a course for Planet Cane. Why? It was the place he was most likely to find Emperor Carambolis. The man mentioned that he was planning to set up a garrison on the planet, and he was sure his interest in the discovery of Naga survivors would have prompted him to extend his presence on the planet. It was a hunch, obviously, one dependent heavily on speculation, but he had to try it before trying his hand elsewhere.
Why was he trying to find the man? He had raided one of the man's assets last time, and had narrowly gotten off, simply due to Cam's kindness and business-like nature, forcing the Changeling and his pirate crew into a mission against their will, and then paying them for it before letting them on their way. Surely, as grateful as Kamui was for the payment, he would make sure to steer clear of Cam in the future, in order to avoid any hard feelings the Commander of one of the most powerful fleets in the world could possibly have? Not quite, but Kamui was interested in seeing the Kabochan Emperor once more for several reasons.
The first being, to satisfy Kamui's curiosity. The Changeling Captain was intrigued, to say the least. Intrigued by Cam's peculiar code of ethics, by his manner. And most of all, by his motives. The man was a leader...and sought to impose his influence upon the galaxy. Yet...what influence was that? It was hard to tell. What was the purpose of Crusher Corps? What did Cam wish to accomplish? What was his ulterior motive? How was this man any different from any other ruling power, such as the likes of Queen Radia or Emperor Polaris? And despite Kamui's own views towards government, why did he find himself attracted to the man's leadership? Because it mirrored his own. No, it was more than that. Kamui himself couldn't even understand it.
The second being, that Kamui had raided a Kabochan vessel prior to The Avarice, and was about ninety percent sure he kidnapped a Crusher Corps officer.
Which caused a slight panic in the Changeling's heart as he bounded down the long, twisting hallways of his ship, the long, ornate cape that was wrapped around his own specially crafted armor dragging behind him as he traversed. On the way, he nodded his head to several of his soldiers, who snapped to attention as their Captain approached. Finally, he reached the room he had wanted to visit. The Medical Bay.
The doors seamlessly slid apart, allowing the sleek, white and green Changeling entry. Inside the rather wide room were dozens of Rejuvenation Tanks, lined up side by side across the wall, along with several operating tables spread across the room in the center. Assistant Droids scurried along, ensuring the temperature control was operational, that the medical supplies were decent. And in the middle of the fray was a single, bubbly, pink haired blue skinned Heran female.
Sawbones.
No one knew her actual name, but Sawbones was a street given title offered by the gang in which Kamui recruited her from. Sawbones hid her immense genius behind a bubbly, airhead personality, yet she was one of the most talented, most brilliant doctors that Kamui had ever met, and equally talented as an innovative scientist, serving as Kam's expert in a number of fields that did not require busting something open or weaponry. Sawbones was also a tremendous flirt, playfully attempting to seduce Kamui despite being one of the few who knew that the Captain was taken. She was also one of the few survivors from Kamui's pirate disaster, and a loyal servant to the last...even if she did play dumb for the masses.
Upon Kamui's entry, Sawbones immediately turned around, and the Changeling could literally see her eyes sparkle in delight as she practically dove for the Changeling, laying her head against his shoulder and wrapping her arms slowly around him
"Oh, Captain! You've finally come!" Sawbones explained, looking up at Kamui
"Are you here to finally dump that Makyan chick and dub me as your new Queen of this lovely criminal empire that you are constructing?" She asked, batting her eyelashes rather seductively.
"Shut the fuck up. You know why I'm here." Kamui said, shrugging his way past the Heran woman. As much as Sawbones and he had become friends as of late, he still found the Heran's constant advances to be quite annoying at times, especially since he was totally aware it was in jest.
Sawbones' mouth formed a small 'o' as she covered her mouth, seemingly hurt by him giving her the cold shoulder,"Oh! Why I've never-" She cut herself off midsentence, seemingly growing tired with the charade herself. Sighing slightly, she spoke once more, her bubbly, teenage girl-esque tone shifting into more of an intellectual, calmer tone of voice.
"You're no fun, Kammy-boy. What do you need, this time?"
"The patient. Absolut. Prepare to release him from stasis. We are going to return him to his handlers soon. Is he still under?"
Sawbones nodded in response, her slender body moving forward as she moved over to a Rejuvenation Tank, gesturing to the unconscious Absolut, the child Changeling held suspended in the healing liquid, an oxygen mask over his face, allowing him the necessary ability to breathe.
"I've kept him in a medically induced coma since arrival, to keep him from potentially....you know. Waking up and blasting me to smithereens. I'm not a fighter and he seems to have a high power level. I'd rather not test my luck. I've been providing him with the essentials to avoid dehydration, and have been checking his vital signs since we admitted him. I'm glad you decided to release him, for I would've had to come to you sooner or later, advising you on the negative effects a long term coma would have on an individual."
Kamui nodded once more, his eyes drifting upwards as he observed the Changeling that he had fought several weeks ago. His eyes observed the boy's slender frame. He had memorized the plethora of wounds that had racked the boy's bodies, all now healed to the point where not even a scar remained. Even now, the fight against the child Changeling remained ingrained in his memory. His first fight against another of his kind, that wasn't his sister or father. And....
The child referred to himself as a hero....a foolish, naive notion. But why? Why would one...
"Release him at once, dry him and test him to ensure he is in peak medical condition. If for any reason he is not, ensure he is by the time we reach Planet Cane. No ifs ands, or buts." The Mercenary Captain instructed before turning on his heel to leave. Sawbones chuckled lightly as she watched the man leave.
Stoic and businesslike around those he cared for the most. That man never changes. Sometimes, I think he forgets he is younger than most of those around him. But no one would ever be able to tell sometimes.. Sawbones thought to herself as she began to hum, preparing the necessarily materials to release the Changeling from stasis. Given the gravity of the situation, ensuring the Changeling child wasn't brain dead or anything equally as severe would only serve to help.
Exiting the Medical Bay, Kamui found himself rushing to the bridge, his feet smacking against the floor, along with his tail, with each step. He knew they had to be close.
The Bridge doors slid open, allowing the Captain entry. On the bridge were a multitude of droid officers busy at their computer consoles, ensuring that navigation and thruster speed was at top efficiency, and basically doing everything they can to make sure the ship was at top operating capacity and was actually safely heading for their destination, and not hurtling at top speed into the Sun. However, he wasn't here to address his droid officers.
He wished to address his Lieutenants, and Droid Commander Fritz.
And here they were, all gathered
"Heh, the Captain is here! About damn time!" A black haired Saiyan spoke up, by the name of R'Krayt. Krayt was a recent addition to Kamui's inner circle, in the form of the Captain's third Lieutenant. He was a Saiyan Warrior that Kamui had recruited on Salmo months ago, who had worked his way up within the ranks as a fierce fighter of sound mind, who lived for the battlefield. He tended to be a bit blunt, and rather simple, but his battle instincts were sound, and he tended to be rather resourceful, capable of taking down opponents with power levels much higher than his, although such did not happen often.
"He had things to do. The Captain's job is a busy one, and involves constant monitoring and attention to every detail, to ensure that we as the crew, are doing as we are supposed to, and that everything is running smoothly." Amon-Ra said smoothly in response to Krayt's outburst. Amon-Ra, a rather proud Heran, was another new addition to Kamui's inner circle. Dubbed as one of Kamui's two new Lieutenants, Amon-Ra had quickly curried favor with the Changeling as a rational advisor, proving an overall voice of reason amongst the Lieutenants. He was easily identifiable by his long, green hair and the rather large and ornate spear he constantly had by his side...and his tendency to bicker with Krayt about just about anything under the stars.
"Hey hey, don't get your balls are knotted up. We know how you are, big guy!" R'Krayt countered, breaking down into loud, raucous laughter.
"If you do not silence yourself..." Amon-Ra threatened, holding his spear aloft.
"If you both don't shut the fuck up I will personally rip off your male extremities and force feed them to you, as I light you on fire starting from your behind." Kaiju shot in suddenly, quickly growing agitated with the immature bickering. Consequently, both Lieutenants quieted down, not wishing to agitate their boss not quite yet.
And throughout the exchange, Kamui was simply waiting there, tapping his foot impatiently. Once given the floor by his lovely girlfriend, Kamui bowed his head
"Thank you. Fritz! How much longer!" Kamui said, moving past his Lieutenants and moving to take a seat in the Captain's Chair.
"Estimated ETA in about five minutes or less!" Fritz reported, before looking back to his droids, and shouting a command to them
Prepare to exit hyperspace! Arriving to Planet Cane soon!"
Kamui closed his eyes, his tail wrapping around a glass of wine that had laid dormant in the cup holder on the right armrest of his chest. Raising the drink to his lips, he tipped the glass back, allowing the dark red liquid to grace his lips.
As they gradually exited hyperspace, Kamui looked to Amon-Ra
"Open a channel with any nearby Crusher Corps vessels that pop within radar. Identify us as The Rogue Phantom and provide them with our ship registration. Tell them that Captain Kamui Solaris of the Howling Tempests wishes to come into contact with Emperor Carambolis of the Kabochan Confederacy. We have no intent to cause harm."
"Yes sir!"
Now........we wait.

He was outnumbered, but then again when he took to the battlefield he usually was. Cam still fought in a hands on approach, preferring to lead from the front when he could, though he had to be able to delegate and know when to let his troops fight. He still trained with his old squad from his days as a Sergeant in the Frieza force, as well as his bodyguard. A pink skinned Brench-saijin woman, clad in simple shorts and a tank-top closed in--the strongest of Cam's soldiers, truly. Talfa. Also likely the only woman he had ever loved, not that he told her that, or even acted upon it. They were close friends, but the Frieza force had thwarted any chances the Emperor would have at a healthy relationship for a long time. When you saw a man beside you kill mercilessly, wipe out men, women, children, destroy entire cities and eventually, take entire worlds, intimacy with such a person became hard. So they trained, they talked late into the night, and they supported one another the most in each others lives. Hureo was the next trusted man, a Litt, the small bird man stood just shy of four feet tall and had a significantly weaker power level, though power levels weren't everything. His ability to manipulate energy as well as focus his ki blasts were legendary among his people; his keen eyesight combined with this aptitude for energy control made him the most lethal sniper in Cam's arsenal, he had taught a level of control that the Kabochan once thought impossible. He had since surpassed even his old mentor. "Quit day dreaming!" A large Beppan yelled, swinging his massive fist into Cam's gut. He almost sent the Kabochan sprawling--almost. Clamping down on his arm, Cam gripped tightly and twisted, before he launched a knee upwards into the Beppan's face. He took the hit, rocking backwards though there wasn't nearly as much damage as their should have been. Deon was a champion of his race, a Juggernaut that could rip ships in half, he had also been a reliable ordnance expert and masterful hand-to-hand combatant. Had the Frieza force not taken his planet, Deon would have been a king there, perhaps one day that dream could still be realized. Duria and Talfa landed the next blow. A Saiyan with jet black hair, still in his standard armor and wearing the sleevelettes and feet coverings that many of his race word, each a rich, deep purple. A necklace of beads hung around his neck and he still had his scouter on. The Saiyan had sledgehammered down on the top of Cam's head, and Talfa had taken advantage of such a strike, a foot driving into Cam's back, sending him sprawling prone in the sand. Leaning against a nearby supply crate and watching, Coca called out, "Hey! It's just training, don't be killing each other over there!" Lieutenant Coca. Once the head of the Kabochan fleet, when Cam had risen to Emperor she submitted to his will. She too, held feelings for the man, though she had a much deeper understanding of how the Emperor's mind worked, capable of giving his orders before he even gave them, she was also intellectually leagues further than anyone here, her stratagems in fleet to fleet combat had her winning battles with odds that seemed entirely insurmountable. She had once wiped out a pirate fleet with only a pair of outrunner ships, leading them in a chase into a black hole, while cutting the trajectory just close enough to sling-shot both of her ships to safety. These were the people the Emperor relied on in the day to day--though their were other. Meiku spearheaded their science division and Absolut was his prodigy, he was beginning to take on missions for the Emperor, Cam had come to adore the child's timid nature, though he would help him find strength. After that, who knew? Picking himself out of the dirt, Cam unleashed a wave of psychic energy, sending all of them sprawling, "No! Don't go easy on me! We both know I'm far from the strongest! My tactics, my abilities need to be impeccable if I am to match that raw power!" He had in truth, defeated many enemies that as far as numbers were concerned, he never should have beaten. Cam had fought the odds over and over and if not won, he at least persisted. Hureo closed in, unleashing a salvo of finger beams that Cam deflected before retorting--his retort cut short as Deon tried to drive an elbow into his back. Cam reached a hand up, catching the elbow strike before ducking low. He was in it now, all of them were closing in. "We got incoming!" Coca shouted, on her data pad and scouter, "Fleet spotted a ship moving out way, it's identifying itself as the Rogue Phantom," She glanced towards her Emperor, stepping forward to show him the datapad, Cam took it and read the message, handing it back to Coca he ordered, "Send them our coordinates." How interesting indeed, the Frost demon pirate had more gall than he thought, at least he could respect that.

“Approaching Planet Cane!” Fritz yelled out loud to all who cared enough to listen.
Planet Cane. The site of it all. The site of old Frieza Force prisons, where those not accepted by an organization as wicked as them were sent to die. Kamui could feel the memories flooding in. The battle on the Avarice, the mission that sent his mission to the Fridge. A rather fateful moment in Kamui’s life, and the reason why he was here today.
“My lord!” Amon-Ra called out, snapping to attention. We were granted coordinates by Crusher Corps, and allowed entry planetside! Awaiting your orders, my lord.”
Kamui allowed himself a small chuckle in return. The Heran lieutenant was so stuck to his protocol and to honorifics that it was near comical, especially considering Kamui was so used to dealing with pirates in the past, in which he was lucky if his own men called him “Captain” half of the time, let alone “my lord”. That came later, after breaking his men in a little bit. Now, it was near automatic. It was almost too much to take in.
“Then we will meet them on the surface. We will take a Parasite Pod. Fritz, you are to watch the ship.”
“Yes sir” The Brench navigator said, snapping to attention.
Kamui then turned to R’Krayt, his cool gaze resting upon the black haired Saiyan
“Krayt, tell Sawbones that she is to come with us to the surface, and that she is to bring Absolut. We will return him...but return him carefully. We do not wish to curry disfavor with Emperor Carambolis prematurely, for he may not give us a chance to explain the situation.”
Krayt nodded before turning on his heel, breaking into a light jog as he ran down to the Medical Bay to summon the Heran doctor.
“Kaiju, Amon-Ra. With me.” Kamui said as he proceeded to move towards the deployment pods, the Changeling Captain shrugging off his cape and armor in favor of his natural white and green Bio Armor.
“At once, my lord!” Amon-Ra shouted un-needlessly, stepping into line as he followed his Captain, with Kaiju sighing softly as she followed.
As Kamui walked along the ship, he couldn’t help but notice the soldiers under his command traversing the ship, making use of the various facility. He could even hear the sounds of battle from inside the training center on his ship. Even if it had only been three weeks, he had grown just as attached to this crew as he had to the other, even more so. Seeing them laugh and drink together, seeing them train as a cohesive unit, getting stronger together, rather than competing constantly against one another. It was heartwarming to see, but also saddening. Once again, Kamui was in the position where his crew’s lives were in his hands, completely dependent on his own actions. His actions were not just his actions, but reflective on that of the very men who worked for him. He never wished to make the same mistake as the last time. He refused to get his men killed once more. He refused to charge into situations rashly.
He was going to do what was best for his men. He had to.
“Dear the Gods! I was just reading a wondrous book!” Sawbones complained as she was practically dragged to the rendez-vous by Krayt, who looked like he was three seconds from shooting the medic. Kaiju couldn’t help but chuckle at the comical display, although Amon-Ra didn’t so much as crack a smile.
Kamui himself had to restrain a smile, hiding it behind a raised hand,” Where is Absolut?” He inquired, to which Sawbones noted the child was floating behind him, suspended in air by Sawbones’ telekinesis. Kamui walked forward and gently took the Changeling in his arms before moving into the vessel, followed soon after by his Lieutenants and Sawbones.
“We will do this my way.” Kamui said, before the pod ejected them towards the surface.
----------------------------------------------
Five Minutes later, hurtling towards the surface of Planet Cane
“Why exactly...did no one tell me that we had a faulty Parasite Pod?!” Kamui yelled as the navigation for the pod failed him, the pod coming in hot as it broke past atmosphere. Try as the Changeling did to set the coordinates for landing, the nav computer was almost completely fried, the screen fading in and out.
“Those bastards down at engineering! All survivors from the Howling Tempests…..not for fucking long!” Kaiju yelled above the horrifically loud sound of tearing metal. Even amongst the chaos, Kamui could see the enraged, near psychotic look on her face. May the gods fear the day that a Makyan gets angry.
“We’re ejecting!” Kamui ordered the others in the ship, before rearing his feet back and kicking outwards. Another horrific sound of tearing metal as the window, along with the metal rooting it in went flying outwards, leaving the pod exposed. Sawbones grabbed Absolut’s prone body, and at once all five occupants (and Absolut) went flying from the ship.
Kamui’s body was suddenly enveloped with teal colored Ki as he turned his freefall into flight, shooting away from the crashsite, his lieutenants and medic following suit, Sawbones in particular having a harder time given her lack of proper exercise in...quite awhile.
“THIS BOY IS FUCKING HEAVY!” She complained, Absolut sprawled out like dead weight in her arms.
“Deal with it!” Amon-Ra shouted, his body enveloped in a green aura of sorts as he shot through the sky.
“We’re nearing the rendezvous site” Kamui called out. Somewhere in the distance, a large plume of sand was kicked up as the downed Parasite Pod made its’ final descent, and crashed into a sand dune.
Luckily enough, they did manage to get relatively close to the rendezvous point before the Parasite Pod straight up died on them, the site of Emperor Cam and his men both a welcome site and an unwelcome one. Kamui knew that this conversation could go one of two ways. One was horrific….and the other was slightly better. If he was any less of a person, he would have avoided Cam and the Crusher Corps altogether, afraid of punishment, and probably would’ve dumped Absolut on some backwater world to wake up on his own, alone and most definitely confused.
But the pirate turned Mercenary Captain was never that type of person.
Kamui was the first to land, with his Lieutenants close behind him. And then eventually, an exhausted Sawbones landed last. Absolut wasn’t exactly concealed, with Sawbones having the unconscious boy in a bridal carry. Knowing the type of conclusions that could be drawn from such a scene, Kamui placed a hand over his heart and bowed forward slightly, in greeting.
“He is alive, Emperor Carambolis.” Kamui started, then continued. He decided it best to explain the situation first, to avoid conflict before it started.
“As per your warning, I have steered clear from your fleet since the incident including The Avarice. However, after your departure, I spent a great deal of time in meditation, and drew the connection between the design of the Avarice vessel and the design of another vessel I raided, less than a week prior in the same sector.”
Kamui moved to the side, allowing Cam a full view of Absolut, his protégé.
“I raided the vessel, again unaware that it belonged to Crusher Corps, and successfully raided. On the bridge, I encountered Absolut here, and he and I fought, resulting in my victory over him. For...reasons, I refused to leave him to die along with the rest of the ship, floating in space, so I took him with me on my vessel, and successfully rejuvenated him. Now that I know he is of yours, I wish to return him. He is unconscious merely because my medic has kept him under to assure he does not escape before my returning of him. He will awake soon, now that he is off of medication. He also does not exhibit any of the wounds I inflicted on him prior. He is yours to reclaim, and if you so desire it I will repay what I stole from your vessel.”
And there it was, all laid out. Now, to await what was to happen next. Word Count: 1,401 | Total Word Count: 3,736 | Cam

This was not what the Emperor had expected when the Rogue Phantom had come to planet Cane again, though in truth he hadn't known what to expect. Kamui seemed like a pragmatic man, though under any other circumstance and with any other person, this would have been a death warrant. Cam placed his hands on his hips as his elite soldiers eyes Kamui warily, "You can relax," he said, it directed at both his own soldiers as well as Kamui and his men and women, "Thank you for your honesty Kamui, and for returning Absolut to me. He's more precious than you know," looking at the sedated child Sawbones held in her hands. Stepping forward, Cam would move to take Absolut from the doctor, "Thank you for keeping him intact and in one piece," he said with a nod of his head to the doctor. His head tilted to meet Kamui's gaze. There would be some silence between the men as Cam sized up the frost demon, that is unless Kamui himself broke it. Whatever calculation Cam was running in his head, it didn't take long for him to reach what conclusion he needed to reach, "You know I could kill you and your entire crew easily and yet you came anyway. That's bold, even for one of your race's natural strength and power." He shifted, turning to walk Absolut back towards Coca, who was already running forward to collect the youth in her arms, "Get a med-evac for him!" she shouted, quickly grabbing her datapad as Duria reached a hand up. Coca and Duria shooting Kamui a dirty look, "Don't," Cam ordered them both, "It's not his fault, he didn't know. I trust him when he says he didn't know," the pair exchanging a look but otherwise remaining silent in that regard, the Saiyan pressing a button on his scouter and getting in contact with planetary forces, "We need a medical team in sector six-H, soon as possible. Frost demon youth, he's alive and appears to be stable but rest is unknown." He paused, a chatter occurring on his scouter before he held a thumbs up to Coca, "Five minutes." She heaved a sigh, laying Absolut down as he would care for the child the best she could. "You could have taken him back to his father, no doubt you would have gotten a massive reward for it," Cam explained, "So why didn't you? Surely you must know who this child is." For once, Cam felt somewhat exposed. It seemed that this Frost demon could read Cam's true demeanor and intentions, he understood that Cam wasn't a ruthless killer or a simple power hungry megalomaniac, he had a goal, an ambition, but appeared to have retained some portion of his soul and humility in trying to attain these goals. The Emperor knew he was far from a perfect, pure being, but he was trying to atone for his misdeeds, to unite and protect the galaxy, to make them ready for what would be coming. A smile crept over Cam's features as he found himself breaking into a fit of laughter, "You can read me like a book, can't you Captain?" he asked towards the frost demon, "My my, a rare trait indeed. Most could never tell you heads or tails of my intentions or who I am, the whole galaxy and its galactic media can't make heads or tails, but you," he pointed a finger at Kamui, "You knew I wouldn't kill you, didn't you? Far from it, I'm grateful you returned him. I'm not grateful for the circumstances, but as I understand it you've been fed your fair share of false information." His head tilted then as the Kabochan eyed all of Kamui's company before looking back at the frost demon, "I see you followed my advice and upgraded. Got yourself a whole cadre of battle-tested warriors, not some simple thugs killing for money. Much more effective, I think you'll find." Quality over quantity when you could afford it. "I'm no fool though either. You came here because you know how this works. Tell me what you want," he owed him. That much was certain, Kamui could have indeed thrown a wrench into Cam's designs by handing Absolut over. Who knows? Maybe one day Cam himself would hand Absolut over to his father, though circumstances for that would be entirely different. All the while Talfa, Hureo, and Deon stepped up alongside the Emperor, even some of their power levels were capable of matching Kamui's own breadth of power.

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil
In the world of Absolut's dreams.
It appears that the poor boy's luck has ran out for good. No Mr. Cam is going to save him now. The Empire has caught him by the wrist at last, and now, in this dark, hazy, featureless room, two Frost Demons sat on different sides of a black, empty table, one interrogator and one victim. Clenching onto the edge of the seat and trying to divert his eyes from Polaris's own, Absolut searched for a path of escape and yet came to the conclusion of flight being impossible. There were no doors, no windows, no exits or anything. And his father would surelyt catch him as soon as his butt left the hard seat.
All that was left, was to listen. And answer.
"Why did you leave Abbayor? Why did you flee from me?"
To which, Absolut knew the answer immediately. "I left Abbayor because I wanted to get away from you-"
A sudden electric shock zapped Absolut's entire body, and he squealed in response.
"No lying. You were not aware of my coup d'etat, you were not even aware that it was me you need to flee for. All you had to go with was a letter."
"That's... true... but, that doesn't-"
"Why did you put more faith in a letter from an anonymous source than in your own father?"
"I could never trust someone like you-"
"Not during the timeframe we're discussing."
"..."
"Before the coup d'etat, before I became the Emperor of the Galaxy, you trusted me, right? You saw me as a model, as an icon to look up to, correct?"
"...yes. Yes to all above."
"Why were you so quick to reject me, then? Why did only the news of me becoming the Emperor kill your faith in me completely?"
"..."
"You wish to be a great hero, correct?"
"...yes."
"And what person inspired you to take that path? Who was this symbol you look up to?"
"...you were."
"Do you still see me as a hero?"
"N-no!"
"Don't you believe that a hero needs to be a person who not only expresses good ideals, but manages to act upon them and actually win the battles he embroils himself in?"
"...I suppose that's right."
"Has that been working well so far?"
"...n-no."
"I don't understand your logic. You were so quick to reject me and everything I stand for, yet you follow the exact same path I had tread all those years ago. You try to follow the path I have already revealed as nothing as a mere lie. You get yourself into unwinnable situations over and over to prove something, yet you probably can't even vocalize what that something is."
"I..."
Absolut's eyes trailed off to the side, the young Frost Demon struggling to compose even a single sentence in response - but eventually, he managed to mutter something out:
"I... I never wanted to become you. Before you revealed your true colors, I admired you, I believed in you, I trusted you... but I didn't want to be known as just a second Polaris. I wanted to find my own path in life, achieve something greater... and before a few months ago, I couldn't tell what that was. But I do now. I want to be the hero you couldn't be. And you're not going to stop me."
Polaris raised his eyebrow.
"That's dumb. That's completely dumb. You're throwing your life away for a fantasy you could never grasp. You're lying to yourself to make yourself feel better. You-"
The entire room, Polaris included, suddenly collapsed into pitch blackness, and moments later, the young Frost Demon's eyes began to open.
Absolut awoke with a sudden and loud scream, both because of what had just transpired in his mind and because he went unconscious while still in agonizing pain and under the scalpel. Taking a deep breath after the initial scream, however, the young Frost Demon took a closer look at who was in front of his eyes - it was not Lord Kamui, who will probably start appearing in Absolut's nightmares any moment now, nor was it the female Heran doctor whom he saw last before losing consciousness - no, it was Coca, one of Mr. Cam's most reliable soldiers, looking at him with slight worry in her eyes.
Coca?
"C-Coca?!" the young Frost Demon's words echoed his thoughts. What was a member of Mr. Cam's entourage doing here?! Where even was he? Did Mr. Cam and his soldiers come to the rescue? Absolut didn't know the answer to any of these questions, and not even a hypothesis, either. But, at least, that was some good news he has just woken up to.
"W-what happened? What are you doing here? Where's Kamui?"

Inwardly, Kamui breathed a sigh of relief.
Judging from Cam's previous actions, he had a certain degree of confidence that the man would not turn around and kill him, but of course there was still a certain degree of uncertainty. It was his second offense, after all, even if it did occur prior to his first warning. There still ran the ever constant risk of being killed by the man, whose power was leagues above his own. Hell, even his henchmen sported power levels comparable to his own. It only served as a reminder that the Changeling was no where near where he should be. That there was still power to be obtained. Power to match the titans of this universe. He merely needed to keep working to attain it.
Perhaps, this would allow for it.
Now that the threat of danger had seemingly passed, the Emperor had seemed quite curious in the mercenary captain's motives, as well as why he did what he did. He had to admit that originally, he had no motivation. His desire to save Absolut from what would've otherwise have been death on board that ship stemmed from a manner of respect that came from the boy, despite his loss. Despite looking at what could be seen as a futile battle, Absolut rose to the challenge and stuck to his guns, charging at Kamui in his colossal repressed form, giving all he had despite risking death.
He had balls, and even if Kamui disapproved of the fact that Absolut was motivated by delusions hardly obtainable, he appreciated the boy's bravery and determination, hence why he saved him. A fact that he was ready to make known to his commanding officer.
"Why didn't I take him back to his father?" Kamui repeated, his large white tail smacking idly against the sand behind him, making small thud noises as sand was shifted around at the Changeling's feet.
"The better question would be why would I take him back to his father. Originally, when I captured him I was unaware of the boy's identity, but with the child introducing himself to me upon my inquiry, it did not take long to discover the truth. Absolut, son of Emperor Polaris, of the First Galactic Empire. Bounties with more zeroes than I have ever seen have been placed on his boy, specifying to return him alive to Imperial handlers. I am a mercenary myself, with an eye for profit. It would've indeed have been a simple manner for me to turn him in at the nearest Imperial spaceport."
Kamui paused for a moment, sighing softly.
"Yet why would I do that? Why would I deny someone else the freedom I myself fled to attain? I too, was a citizen of the Empire, the youngest son to a lower tier noble. It did not take long to theorize that this boy fled for the same reasons I fled, to be free from his own inner demons personified in others. It works, to a degree. The other motivation being, Absolut is running from his father for a reason. One's connection to family should be unbreakable, should be a bond you can always fall back on when everything else shits on you. Absolut's moral code, paired with the fact that he plead with me not to return him to Emperor Polaris, told me all I needed to know about the Galactic Empire, and it merely solidified my belief system. I do not know Emperor Polaris, and thus have no reason to return the child to him. I have, however, met you, and respect you enough to offer you a courtesy I denied to the most important man in this universe, at this instant in time."
"Enough with the philosophical talk, Captain. You're boring the man!" Krayt piped up, miraculously re-obtaining the balls to speak now that the threat of execution was past.
"Shh, R'Krayt. The adults are talking." Kamui chided, in a moment of painful irony, for the Changeling captain himself was the youngest member of his own crew, and hardly an adult in his own right.
Looking back to Cam, he chuckled slightly before continuing.
"I am merely a few years older than Absolut myself, so I relate to his struggle as a peer, rather than as an mentor. As far as to what I know of your motives, you overestimate my ability. I am sure that in time and observation, I can indeed read your true intentions, as I would a novel, but as of right now I am merely on the Table of Contents. However, when you look at society the way I do, it becomes rather simple to sift through the masses of fluff and propaganda, and see things in patterns, rather than in an individual. Try as we might to deviate from others, we always fit within a certain pattern. I merely identify which patterns you fall in within the first few moments of meeting."
"Did I know you wouldn't kill me? No, I did not, for ruling out such a possible course of action would be foolish. I entertained the idea just as much as I entertained the possibility of this situation not turning out that way. It just so happened that it did not turn out that way, a fact that I am happy of. I thank you for your mercy, and apologize for your inconvenience."
Interestingly enough, the one part in Cam's questioning that Kamui had avoided to even touch upon just so happened to be the most important question asked yet. What did he want? That question alone intrigued Kamui to no end. The Emperor thought as he himself did. The eradication of the silly notion that people do good for no reward at all, whether it is in the form of the physical or the spiritual/mental plane of existence. He knew that the man had done this for a reason, rather than out of the good of his heart. And he wished to know why.
"What do I want? To be fair, I have no grounds to ask something from you. You spared my life twice now, both offenses warranting a much harsher punishment. In addition, you provided me the resources with which to rebuild myself, despite the fact that the majority of my forces were dispatched trying to force yours into submission. For me to ask something of you simply because I returned to you a healed asset of yours, healed from the very same wounds I inflicted upon him, would be a foolish notion, only taken by those who are deluded enough to truly believe that you owe them for doing something so simple."
It seemed as if every answer the Changeling gave was rather long winded, but at the same time leading to some inner train of thought and principles that the man ran on. The teenage Changeling could easily be some form of Sociologist if he so desired.
"I respect you, Emperor Carambolis. You operate as I operate, see the world as I do. You treat your subordinates with a level of respect and care uncommon in those in seats of power, taking a road less traveled. You seek to lead on the front lines, inspiring your men directly. You take every situation as an opportunity, and turn enemies into allies. Your intellect and principles make you an exemplar leader, the type of leader I wish to be one day. You take steps to ensure that no matter the result of every action you take, you can benefit somehow, even if the way in which you do is not clear to those around you. The nature of the Xanatos' Gambit...."
"Such has intrigued me, and I wish to see more. Understand more. I also wish to better myself and discover just what I was placed in this universe to do. Discover a deeper meaning for myself. Interestingly enough, Emperor Carambolis, I wish to join the Crusher Corps."

Cam heard the scream and whirled around, before he noticed that Absolut appeared to be okay, just in shock. Sedatives sometimes had that effect on people he supposed, Coca hushed the adolescent boy, "You're alright Absolut. Kamui returned you to us," Coca explained, looking over towards the frost demon, Duria stepped over to the young frost demon, "Aye! He's awake. Recovered quick from that little nap. We weren't sure what happened to you," the Saiyan leaned down, whispering to Absolut, "The Emperor would never admit it but he was worried about your ass. Thought your father might have gotten to you," before leaning out, Coca went on, "Try to take it easy. You've been sedated for a while, who knows how it's affected you. A medical evacuation is on its way, it'll take us back to the ship to get you checked out and make sure you're okay," she sad as the Kabochan woman pushed her glasses up, "Do you at least feel okay? Your speech doesn't seem impeded at all." "He's fine," Cam stated simply over one shoulder, his sight had only improved, Absolut's vitals and power level appeared as they always had when he first saw the boy, perhaps a bit sluggish but not outside the normal realm of health as far as he could tell. Cam's eyes drifted to the Saiyan R'krayt, "On the contrary. Deep thought is something all leaders need to excel at to a certain capacity, I often wax about things that are benign though. I know part of Saiyan culture is embracing action, but I don't think you want the kind of action that could have taken place on these desert sands Saiyan," the Emperor chortled then as he looked back to Kamui, "I'll admit that my intent was never to... Take things over. The Crusher Corp. and now the Kabochan Confederacy, it sort of just fell into my lap." he seemed amused at the notion, that he had become one of the most powerful rulers in the galaxy by a thing as simple as chance. "I've been under the thumb of others since I was a little but younger than Absolut. It humbles you, it can be torture and it can be enlightening. I'm not as hard on the boy as the Frieza force was on me. I don't make him kill, because I think that things can be accomplished without jumping straight to murder," he paused, "Though I don't wish for him to fear killing if need be. I hope such situations can be avoided." He glanced back to Kamui, "I wager you showed him plenty of blood in the battle taking him though. Regardless, lets get down to brass tax: You want to join? Alright, I can see why. There's a certain level of professionalism in every crew though. Clearly if you can best one of my own already, you're suited for the fight. I have something special in mind though." With that Cam shifted to move closer to Absolut, "What do you know of of your father's layouts Absolut? Could you get us inside your father's machinations? Past the security and guards?" Absolut had found a way out from under his father's thumb, there had to be a way in. Talfa, Hureo, and Deon all stepped forward as if to fill the Emperor's gap while he spoke with Absolut, "What do you make of them?" Talfa asked the other two, Deon was the first to reply, "Strong. Not as strong as us I wager, but strong," Deon remarked, "Strength isn't everything," Hureo replied, "That's why I keep winning your money when we gamble," the Litt teased towards the other two, "His energy control is above average, I can tell that already. He's got tools for the job, not raw mitts." "Think he can pull it off?" Deon asked towards the other two, who both shrugged. They had no bearing for Kamui or his strength, but one things was evident: Cam was plotting something.

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil
Coca wasn't the only member of Cam's personal entourage who was now staring down at the shocked Frost Demon - the Saiyan Duria joined in as well, explaining that his disappearance worried Mr. Cam a lot more than he would have liked to admit, to which Absolut raised an eyebrow, not sure what to make out of it. Didn't Cam only need him as a potential bargaining chip if he ever came to blows with the Emperor- oh, right, that's why. Duria did, after all, follow it up by saying that they were worried Polaris might have caught him while he was absent.
That makes a lot more sense. Though, did his father even know that Absolut was currently under Cam's wing, anyway? Wouldn't he have already landed on Kabocha otherwise? Maybe the threat was not necessarily as large as the young Frost Demon would like to imagine it, or Polaris was already heading towards them as they speak, but it was always something to keep in mind, so that's fair. What was just as surprising was that Kamui was still intact and in one piece, and he was the one who returned Absolut to them. In fact, as he raised his eyes to glance towards the rest of the room, he saw the Frost Demon and the Kabochan warlord talking with each other, at least before the latter turned towards him to check what was the source of the scream.
Absolut's hands clenched upon the sight of Kamui, his mind still far from easy with being in the same room as the space pirate who brutalized him so - even if he ended up doing a good deed in the end. His focus was soon distracted elsewhere, however, this time by Coca asking if he's doing fine.
"I..." Absolut spoke, his voice suddenly coming to a full stop, lost on what he should say next. Sure, physically the young Frost Demon was perfectly fine, restored to full condition during the time he was unconscious, but you couldn't say the same thing about his mental health. That dream sequence, no matter how much he tried to fight it both inside and outside, did have some points to make and worth listening to. Was the path he determined to stride towards completely pointless in the end? In a way, it's almost like he was the only idealist in a coldblooded galaxy - Polaris's heroism was nothing more than an act, Cam was a pragmatic who didn't shy away from murder and torture, so was Kamui, so on and so forth... Either way, this was getting too deep for a fifteen year old to fully grasp, and definitely not something Coca wanted to hear, so after a brief pause, Absolut continued. "...I'm fine, yes, thanks for asking."
Not long after, he was offered an additional question to answer to, this time from Cam himself - the Kabochan warlord was interested in whether Absolut knew a way to infiltrate the layouts of the First Galactic Empire, past the security and guards. What an odd question - the Frost Demon sat puzzled for a few seconds, not sure if this question was even meant to him at first.
"...I don't know anything about them, Mr. Cam. I fled Abbayor right before the establishment of the Empire," Absolut finally muttered out a response, his voice slightly bitter at the fact that he couldn't offer any help to the Kabochan. "I can infiltrate something if it's absolutely necessary, but I don't really want to get anywhere near my father, I think you understand why."

"He did well." Kamui said, almost immediately after Cam finished speaking of Absolut, and how he tried to teach the boy how to fight, while also serving to shelter him from the ruthless realities of society, which was doing more than Cam himself had been exposed to.
It was true. As much as the boy failed to so much as touch him, Kamui had a respect for the Changeling, who just now seemed to be waking up and getting his bearings. Despite it all, Absolut fought until the end, until he was no longer in a position to fight any longer. A valiant action, and one that he was sure a great of the other staff on the bridge that day were not willing to take.
"When I invaded his ship, it was a simple matter. Much simpler than the Avarice, for some odd reason. I myself marched to that bridge. Non-combatants, mostly engineers, and navigation staff. None were willing to oppose me. Except for Absolut." He said aloud, his eyes drifting towards the child as he seemed to glare at him. Kamui, in turn, neither registered the gaze for what it is, or merely disregarded it in preference of continuing his little speech.
"When I invaded the ship, Absolut was among those who cowered. Those who wished to escape. But, the fire in his eyes shone through as he stood against me. He raised his head high and fought me. His power, for a moment, shot to a level that could have been comparable to my own at the time. Never once in his eyes were hesitation. He struck up with the ferocity of a beast. When he is driven to the wire, forced to make the decision of life or death. When other lives hang in the balance...he stood up and defended them. Had he been able to, he may have killed me for them." Kamui commented, crossing his arms over his oversized chest.
His gaze then drifted back to Absolut for a moment, and he finally addressed Absolut, once again ignoring whether the boy would have even wanted to speak to his former captor.
"Perhaps one day, you can make a fine addition to my crew. You are still not a hero. No one is. Yet, you are valiant. And in these times, that is about as good as you can get, kid."
There goes that painful, unsaid irony once more, for neither Kamui nor Absolut knew each other's ages, Kamui in actuality was only four years older than Absolut, at the age of nineteen, despite the rather dramatic height and build difference. Nonetheless, after such a statement, Kamui turned back to the Emperor, returning back to the main topic, which was joining the Crusher Corps.
"These are not the Howling Tempests, although some familiar faces will be seen amongst them. We are the Hellhounds. These are soldiers, Emperor Carambolis. Soldiers for hire, bounty hunters, smugglers, the like. A ragtag group, but a professional rag tag group brought together for profit. Their loyalty to me gets stronger by the day, and before long it will be unwavering."
Cam's next words however, surprised him. His hint towards a special assignment, followed by Cam questioning whether Absolut knew how to bypass the Galactic Empire's security grid, and get past Imperial ships and into Imperial space. As far as he was aware, the Saiyan Dominion was the one at war with the Galactic Empire....with Crusher Corps as an ally to the Saiyans. Ah, now that made sense. When it came to galactic news as big as war, and the allies of conflicting forces, news traveled fast as hell to the criminal underworld, and Kamui almost always ensured himself that he kept an ear to the ground in order to extract that oh so sweet intel, just in case it came in handy. Yet...what was Cam planning? To assault Abbayor? Or maybe Mitra? The former was of significantly more interest to Kamui, for Abbayor still remained as his homeworld, and where his father and sister resided still, even after running him off planet.
Chuckling softly, Kamui's large white tail smacked against the sands, kicking up dust.
"What's the job, Emperor Carambolis? I've had a few run ins with Imperial Patrollers over the past few years, not to mention my older sister works for the Empire as an annoying little girl scout. If you truly want professionalism, then I'll show you professionalism." Kamui said, a small smile crossing the Changeling's features.

The Emperor was glad to hear that Absolut had fought valiantly, he laughed at the remark that it had been simpler, "Not every craft we employ is meant for war. Trade is as much part of what we do as fighting, space needs merchant vessels as much as vessels of war," Carambolis was a shrewd man. If the Frieza force had never touched his planet, he might have grown up to be a successful merchant, but having his hands stained with blood and learning to kill gave him the thirst for power and justice in nearly equal parts. In many ways Cam thought of himself as similar to Polaris, though he wagered the Frost demon never suffered like he did. He wagered he was never crushed under the thumb of someone else, not in the way he was or even in the way that his son was, "Absolut I don't think has ever understood why I plucked him from some backwater world while he tried to run. I did so because he was, and still is, alone," he beckoned for Kamui to step closer as he moved over to Absolut, "Before I delve into this, understand that I will not decide the fate of yourself, your father or your family. I have potentially the strongest armada in the galaxy, I don't drop that on your father's head because I think he wouldn't care. He's become the kind of man that would burn an entire world if it meant he got to rule over the ashes. Radia and her forces were getting close to that mark but I think the black eye I gave the Dominion helped knocked some sense into them." The Kabochan ruler sat down on a nearby supply crate, his hands dipping down to scoop up a handful of sand as he let it pass through his fingers, letting it sift out, "What he, and what most rulers of this galaxy either don't care to understand or don't want to understand is that there's forces out there stronger than all of us. I've seen demons actively threaten to break the seal between our realms, I've seen mutated Saiyan warriors with more power than a thousand stars, I've seen men and women with intentions so malicious their actions will bring war not to just a planet, not to just a quadrant, but our entire reality. Whether I like your father or not, whether he's good or evil, he's lacking that view. His ambitions and fears ans xenophobia for his enemy has come to blind him," he looked towards the adolescent frost demon, smiling sadly, "Initially I had hoped that I could use you to... Bargain with him. Or maybe even strike him down, how poetic would it be if you could topple your father?" Cam shook his head, "That's not how this will go. I've united half the galaxy with the Crusher Corp and with the Saiyan Dominion. Earth will fall in line next I wager, then from there it's a matter of sorting our the Frieza force brigands running amok. Even if I dropped dead right here, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when." His gave flicking back to Absolut he let them know exactly what the plan was, "We're going to get your family--your mother and sister, off of Abbayor or Mitra. We will defeat your father and he will flee, die, or stand trial for his crimes. It likely won't be me to exact that kind of justice, not really my thing, but those wheels are already turning. The Saiyan Dominion and our forged Alliance can't be stopped, and it shouldn't be. If your father finds a way to do so I imagine any of those means would be catastrophic to everything. He is not the real threat though. He may be a threat in the short term, but he's not the real threat." He stood then, wiping his hands off, "So we will save your family Absolut. We'll save the one good thing I think he's done so far, you and your sister. After their saved if you care to run and take them with you, so be it. In all honestly I don't think I could stop your father if it came down to a one on one fight, but I'd be sure to make him work for it. I have a plan to deal with him. I know when I was your age, enslaved to the Frieza force I tried to save the remnants of my family," he explained to Absolut something crucial to the Emperor himself, "I watched my father get disintegrated by a beam of energy, right in front of me. My mother, my sisters and brothers, taken as slaves to either be soldiers or to serve. I don't even remember their names anymore. The only thing I fight for now is my people and for the survival of our reality. Understand that if you run, that fight will come to you eventually though. I want you to fight when it does Absolut. I want you to fight more fierce and more violently than your father when that time comes, I think the only way I could fight harder is if I had a family to defend. So I will give you yours, Absolut, and after that you're free to do as you please. I will not be your father and tell you what life you have to fulfill, but I will give you something worth fighting for." He looked towards Kamui, "You say you're familiar with their ships. You will get us on world. We'll formulate a plan to get into the palace, but first and foremost, we need to know where they are and how to get to them. Abbayor and Mitra have been under siege, I wager your father either keeps them close or very, very far away, only you would know that Absolut. I'm asking you for a moment in time, to think like your father," his voice carried far more steel in it. The admission that his family--everyone he had ever loved, was gone, that parts of himself had been stripped away by corruption and violence made the Emperor's head feel light. He wanted more than anything, to atone for the past. He wanted to see Absolut go a different path, both from his own and from his father's. He wanted him to understand that he didn't have to run, that he couldn't run, that their were things in this world worth fighting war. Cam, for all he was, for all he held, was a man with nearly nothing he cared about other than his ideals, and he was one of the most fierce, indomitable fighters in the galaxy.

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil
You know, it's a little weird that both of these super powered warlords, leaders of hundreds if not thousands of men each, didn't see any problem or awkwardness of talking about Absolut and stating their opinions of him when he was right there, sitting on the floor and hearing every single word said. That wouldn't be a weird thing in of itself, though a bit rude regardless - what was surprising was that both Mr. Cam and Kamui viewed him so... positively. As if he wasn't just a hindrance or a weight holding both of them down with his frailty, yet unprecedented importance.
Kamui viewed him as brave and able to fight without hesitation even against an unsurmountable obstacle such as himself - in his eyes, Absolut was no hero, but that wasn't a word which existed in Kamui's dictionary anyway.
Cam saw him as alone, and that at least was true, but also as someone just like him - who lost everything, who lost his family, and that's why the Kabochan decided to at least grant Absolut that, the chance to reunite with his family, so he would fight more fiercely than ever.
That's why he asked Absolut if he knew anything about infiltrating Imperial formations. He wanted to find a way to rescue Eis and Arctica.
Save my... family?..
Absolut had practically abandoned the thought of ever seeing his mother or his sister ever again. Both of them had stayed in Abbayor when he last saw them, and since he last saw them right before fleeing the planet, a day before the coup d'etat took place, he figured that both of them fell under Polaris's grasp and were now held as close to him as possible besides taping them both to his body. And since both returning to his father and his father falling or losing power were both impossible from his point of view, neither was reuniting with them, then. However, Mr. Cam was adamant that it was possible. And not only that, but the Kabochan also believed that the end of Polaris's reign was drawing near.
Absolut had all the reason to think otherwise. After all, unlike both Kamui and Mr. Cam, he knew the Emperor personally, even if he was far from the best or most close father, and knew exactly what he is capable of. Or thought he was capable of. A whole year had passed ever since Absolut fled Abbayor, after all, a million things could have changed during that time. Either way, there was all the reason for the young Frost Demon to be reluctant here. However, Cam's optimism and the mere thought of seeing the two people closest to him in this entire Universe at least one more time rejuvenated something within the boy's heart.
"Yes!!" Absolut suddenly exclaimed, leaping back up to his feet, the young Frost Demon's heart burning with excitement and resolve. "If you want me to fight for my family... then know that I will fight for my family!"
Eis was the one who pushed him to continue on his path of becoming a hero no matter what adversity stands in his way. Artica, despite being still very young, always supported him and their relationship was warm to the core. It was about time for Absolut to repay them this debt somehow.
All he needed to do was think what his father would have done with Eis and Arctica. Where would he keep them? On Abbayor? Or that mysterious mechanical planet of his, which he had mentioned to the boy one? Or somewhere as far away as possible. The young Frost Demon clenched his chin a little, thinking over the possibilities.
No, he wouldn't even try sending Mom anywhere too far away from him. He wouldn't want to let her fall in anyone's hands, especially not when the Valkyries and Saiyans are challenging his rule.
And maybe not on Mitra, either. From what I know of it, it's a fully militarized world, everything there is geared towards the army... and Mom certainly does not approve of his rule, so he wouldn't want someone who could back stab him right in his palace.
Leave her on Abbayor? Perhaps he decided to be lenient towards them and keep their life relatively normal? That doesn't sound right... but it's the best I've got.
"I think... I think..." Absolut muttered, struggling to form a concise conclusion of his series of thoughts. "...I think they should be held on Abbayor. I'm not sure where, it's a large planet... but Mom's probably down there."

Abbayor, hm?
The prospect of returning to his homeworld was an interesting one. And the massive Changeling wasn't quite sure how to feel about it. The planet where his career technically began, where his philosophy started, where everything began. He didn't hate the planet itself, it was more or less the memories associated with the planet, with his family. His father and his sister still resided there. Lord Cleo and Blizzara. Two figures of influence in his life, who had impressed their own expectations upon the child Changeling. From the age of four, Kamui's career had already been chosen for him, and a life of military service had been waiting for him to fill it when he got the appropriate age. Except, only one of them would rise the occasion to fill it. Well, only one had the desire to.
Kamui had had a criminal record since he was about nine years old. Starting off small with acts of petty theft and vandalism across several neighborhoods in his rather posh, wealthy neighborhood in Abbayor, the child's advancing years only led to advanced crimes, escalating into the realm of organized crime on a small scale, with the Changeling working with several street gangs, mostly consisting of lower class kids his age, that the local Imperial law enforcement had yet to suppress. In retrospect, Kamui had little reason to be involved in crime, for he had nothing to gain from it. He was hardly poor, his father was a lower tier noble in the grand Galactic Empire's social rank system, and thus was quite wealthy and well known, with Kamui and his sister being the "kids destined for greatness" once they reached the required age for enlistment in the Imperial armed forces, being dispatched into one of several fields. However, Kamui had little interest in nobility, and in his father's government connections. To him, he felt restrained by his father's reputation, and could never do what he wanted to do, even if what he wanted to do could have been at other's expense, which it often was. Thus, Kamui's criminal life only compounded upon itself until the top blew, and his father and sister were forced to put familial ties behind, and attempt to apprehend the sixteen year old Changeling as a criminal, prompting Kamui to flee from Abbayor, never to return.
He didn't leave on good terms. Luckily, his crimes were never large enough to incur any dedicated search parties to apprehend him, but every now and then you got your ambitious Imperial Patroller trying to kiss up to the boss by having the most arrests in one month. Not that any of those men/women survived long to tell the tale.
Nonetheless, Kamui couldn't help but chuckle at Absolut's enthusiasm. Here was a child, the son of the most important man in the galaxy. Absolut had completed a feat harder than his own, having escaped from his father for as long a he had, and now faced with the prospect of going back, he jumped at the opportunity to save his mother and sister. It was rather heartwarming, the love one held for their parents.
"You're a good one, Absolut. A real good one. Hmph, Abbayor...."
Kamui's gaze turned back to Cam
"As a Space Raider, you gotta be careful about whose territories you enter, and who you target, or else you get situations like the one in which you and I got into, Commander." Kamui said, using one of many honorifics that could be used to describe Cam.
"It also helps when you know people. Give me a bit of time to prepare, and I'll get you on Abbayor. However, how big of a force are we dedicating to this? I can most likely get you onto Abbayor, but if we're talking a full military fleets in prep for invasion, that is less likely to get past space patrol. You know, big guns and big ships make people nervous. Surely, you understand."
Kamui chuckled slightly at his joke, as dry and sarcastic as it was, it was funny at least to him. Hell, he was little more than a child himself, even if his status and demeanor didn't hint to such. And as a teenager in his own right, he certainly loved his fair share of sarcasm, bordering more on comical than it did on disrespectful.
"Also, I want in on this mission. I know I just got accepted and shit, but I want to prove myself to the Crusher Corps. I know I'm helping you get onto the planet, but I want to actually be apart of this search team. I want to find Absolut's parents, and save them. If they really mean that much to the kid, then I accept it. When it comes to parents, they can either be real shitty, or real good. I had a dead one, and a shitty, controlling one. Absolut has a balance apparently, so that's good."
"My lord...." Kaiju's voice piped up from behind him, her tone sounding almost expectant.
Kamui nodded briefly, turning back to Kaiju," Lieutenant, do me a favor, and call the crew back up top, and let them know of our new status. They already knew of our intentions, but it is best that they are not so on edge any longer. The majority have not had many personal dealings with the leader of Crusher Corps prior, so it is going to take som adjusting."
Kaiju nodded, before moving away from the group, tapping on her scouter to establish a comm link between herself and Fritz, who was still up top on the ship. Kamui took a moment to watch her as she walked away, his expression showing what could be seen as infatuation? However, he quickly shook the feeling away. He was in public, and had to act like it. It didn't do to put his relationship status with Kaiju on blast. Not in the company of such...observant folk. Turning back to Cam, the mercenary captain smiled amicably, his large white tail once more striking the ground behind him, kicking up a small cloud of dust.
"In addition, I want to know where I stand, Emperor. I don't come saying I want to join some organization, a government on top of that, just to half ass a job, and work part time. I decided that this is something I plan to do, and I hope you accept me fully. I want to know where I stand as of now, in relation to everyone else, and just exactly what I'll be doing for you. I could sit here, and rattle off qualifications that only mean shit if you're in the underworld. But, I take it you haven't been standing idly around while I've been analyzing you, Commander. I take it you know a great deal more about me then you are letting on." The Changeling inquired, feigning ignorance. He already knew the answer, for he knew Emperor Carambolis was much like him, and would not have so readily accepted the Changeling had he not already had an idea of what the Frost Demon was like, and what he could potentially do for the Kabochan Confederacy in the grand scheme of things.

"I'm not about to take my army to Abbayor. Half of success is knowing when and how to strike. I'd just get a lot of men and women killed if they attacked that planet," every toolkit needed a hammer and Carambolis had one gigantic hammer in his, however it would have been less than prudent to send the entire fleet for two people, "We'll make this quick and easy. Infiltration is one of my specialties. We take you, me, Absolut, and maybe one or two others, we infiltrate the planet and find out where they are. From there we'll do two things," Cam held up one finger, "One, we cause a distraction. Either turn the power off for a few minutes or cause something to pull the security away..." He mused a moment, "Once their indisposed we'll go nab Absolut's folks and go to a predetermined extraction point, preferably in some stolen gunship from the patrol. That'll let us get past security checkpoints easier." He hummed to himself as he thought a moment longer, "Any ideas on a solid distraction? It needs to be quick and clean, preferably something that won't kill anybody either. This is a rescue mission after all. We'll be able to determine where Absolut's parents are if we can get to a security command computer. More than likely they'll be on the computer as something mundane under heavy guard, I wager Polaris isn't stupid enough to label them outright." Perhaps not stupid enough but maybe confident enough, only time would tell. At Kamui's question on his standing, Cam perked an eyebrow upwards, "Well, you're a brigand who's stolen from me twice Kamui. Not exactly sterling with a reputation like that," he paused before adding, "But I don't exactly care about your reputation, I care about your abilities and if you can get the job done. Consider yourself a Lieutenant among the regulars with your own command and ship. If you do well on this, then I'll consider your chances for a ranking as an elite squadron. Nothing ventured, nothing gained though. If you're worried about work and pay though, don't be. There's plenty of both," the Emperor stated all of this matter-of-factly, and he wasn't wrong, "And you do well as an elite, perhaps I'll make you a governor if that life suited you. The entire east quadrant needs to be brought to heel, with the dissolution of the Frieza force there's dozens of want to be warlords and would be rulers, trying to participate in all manner of nefarious trade, much as the world trade organization did." Oh, Cam had a plan for them. He would find out who each and every one of those who had participated in the grisly buying and selling of planets that had been wiped clean. He would find the former Frieza force generals turned warlords and see that they paid for their crimes, that was simply a matter of time. "There's opportunity to rule and vanguard, to lead from the front and to provide relief to those many planets that need it. You say there's no such thing as heroes and perhaps you're correct. There's rulers, there's justice, and there's the chance to alleviate and change the course of trillions of lives under duress. I've many irons in the fire and unlike all previous rulers, I don't seek to dominate, that implies I strip their rights and identities away in favor of my own ideologies. That's not how I rule. Subjugation, not humiliation." Cam stated succinctly, "Planets will be liberated, they will serve when needed, and when not needed they will live peaceful, profitable lives. Any other way will result in revolt and add to the continued wars that are going on. Our galaxy needs a chance to heal from its wounds before gaining any more." A ship dropped in then, the medical evacuation that had been called for, an armed platoon stepped out before several medics and doctors stepped forward, Coca waved them over to collect Absolut, "Lets have you checked out, just to make sure you're okay. Being in suspension for two long can be pretty hard on the body, even for you changelings," Coca refused to call their race frost demons. Cam and Coca had been seen demons, they knew what that true face of evil was and Absolut wasn't it, "What say you then Kamui?" Cam asked, not worried about Absolut all that much, he would get the attention he needed, physically and mentally. Duria trailed behind Coca and Aboslut as they were walked onto the ship, even he was looking out for the young changeling.

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil
"You're a good one, Absolut. A real good one."
"Huh? Wh-what do you mean?.."
Absolut blinked a few times, unsure at what Kamui meant at this instant. He said it after the young Frost Demon expressed his desire to follow Mr. Cam on his mission to rescue his mother and his sister from Polaris's grasp, and then explained that Abbayor is where they are likely currently held... was there something about that which was unnatural? Everything was natural and obvious to Absolut there, at least. Standing puzzled for a few seconds, the young Frost Demon snapped out of it when Cam began to explain his concrete plan on the rescue mission.
Indeed, there was little hope of winning a direct confrontation, and sending the army of Kabocha to attack Abbayor would most likely result in both losing most of Mr. Cam's soldiers and a harsh response from the First Galactic Empire, maybe even the destruction of Cam's homeworld. Which is why the Kabochan warlord opted for a stealthy approach, drawing away the Empire's focus with a distraction while the primary strike team lands on the planet, finds Eis and Arctica and gets out as soon as physically possible.
What they needed was to find a distraction, and though Absolut might not have had anything on his mind at that point, he thought about that a little. What could work as a way of diverting the attention of Abbayor's security and potentially also his father...
Absolut didn't really have much of a chance to offer anything, however, as a voice soon called out to him. It was Coca, and she was calling for Absolut to come over and have his health checked out, just in case being in suspension for a long time had any negative impact on his body, Dura was alongside her. Alright, this seems fair.
Running off towards the two members of Cam's entourage, Absolut waved towards Kamui and Cam for one last time, exclaiming:
"I'll see you soon, Mr. Cam! And you too... Kamui."

Kamui nodded slowly as Cam laid out a possible course of action before him. As much as he jested about a full scale invasion, he was partially relieved that Cam found that to be as much of a bad idea as Kamui thought of it to be. Not that he expected less. The mission was to be stealthy and quick. A grab and go with minimal disturbances. Perhaps Kamui would even have to utilize a condensed form for this? It had been years since he his power was so out of control that he would need something as drastic as a condensed transformation to put a hard cap on his power. But perhaps the smaller frame it provided would be necessary, since as versatile a person as the Frost Demon was, he was six feet tall, muscular and had two rather large bullhorns jutting out from his head. Such traits didn't exactly scream low profile when it came to anonymity. In fact, often such traits drew attention rather than rejected it. Regardless, they needed a plan. A course of action, but it wasn't hard to draw the conclusion that a desert outpost on Planet Cane wasn't quite the right place for it. "Power outages are usually effective, but are tricky business when dealing with military grade technology. Could easily mess up. It's effective, and it doesn't hurt people, so if we're gonna be doing it, we're gonna need someone with knowledge. Hell, we need a bit more in general. I believe we should discuss this more when we're in a position to actually see the layout of Abbayor. We need maps of the infrastructure, possible entry points. Don't think we'll be able to get intel on guard rotations unless we have someone on the inside who can provide us with that info, or anything I just said. It's easy to say we'll find a power junction in order to cause a mass blackout, but in a city world like Abbayor, skyscrapers tend to look the same when they're all meshed together. I suggest we gather the resources with which to lay it out, for it seems like a power failure may be our best bet, without putting one of us in danger, or the public."As Cam moved onto Kamui's next question, the Frost Demon took the chance to listen intently, actually interested in the answer. Throughout Cam's explanation, the mercenary captain nodded a few times, before he gradually broke into rather loud, raucous laughter, nearing into more of a cackle. Whatever he found to be funny, he seemed to be enjoying himself alot. So much so that he was laughing for what could have been a straight minute. Finally, he found the ability within himself to speak "I'm gonna have fun with you, Commander! Hahahaha! Excellent, I'm sold!" Kamui exclaimed amongst laughter. To be honest, the prospect of him being governor for a planet was an interesting one. For all of his negative views on people and government, especially government, the prospect of him representing a government position was rather interesting. However, it didn't mean he was against it. He actually found such a goal rather interesting to work towards. However, starting as a Lieutenant wasn't a bad position. In fact, it was intriguing, something he was most certainly looking forward. His tail swished behind him before smacking into the sand behind him. "I accept your position, and look forward to an exciting career with you, Emperor. Should we head up to sign some contracts and shit to get my men registered under your flag? Pretty sure my presence will surprise quite a few of your men, especially once they learn of the development. Or not, I'm not that important. I'm sure you guys have had harder adversaries than my crew." The Frost Demon finished, gesturing for Cam to take lead. Word Count: 644 | Total Word Count: 7,697 | Cam

"We'll have to figure something out, someone who can get us on the planet. We dispatch one of us to shut power down momentarily, once it's off we move in and get Eis and Artica out of there," Cam said succinctly, "We just need some information from someone inside, that or we infiltrate and get it ourselves," the Emperor spoke in such matter of fact terms, though he didn't know if Kamui had ever operated in a stealth mission, he certainly knew Absolut hadn't though, if the boy was good at something, Cam would have said it was keeping his head down and acting like he belonged where he was going. He would excel at this more than likely, though perhaps he would have would have some hands on training in teaching the young frost demon on how exactly to maintain a stealthy guise. How to mask himself with energy, just where to strike to knock someone out and how to apply a proper choke or sleeper hold, perhaps even where to put a blade in a foe to kill them quietly, though as far as he could tell Absolut hadn't killed anybody and likely never would if he could help it. Ay Kamui's declaration of fealty, the Emperor only grew a more knowing smile, "Excellent. When you leave, head into high orbit on the night side of the planet, you'll see a fleet stationed there, you may dock with the Roncinante--It's an S class war cruiser, old, heavy thing that's good for moving lots of munitions, they'll see that your ship is outfitted with all the markings and necessary armor and weapons. You're joining at a fortuitous time. A scientist of ours just developed new stealth technology that makes running blockades and avoiding the gave of even larger ships that much easier. In the meantime your orders stand: You and your crew will aid the effort to secure planet Cane. You've already proven more than capable of that." Cam reached a hand up, a simple gesture given and his crew and sparring partners began packing it in. They all piled onto the medical evacuation ship with Coca, Duria, and Absolut. Kamui would be able to follow the craft up, it leading the way around the dark side of the planet. Even without the stealth technology active, seeing the fleet with the naked eye was hard when it was sitting in the shadow of planet Cane itself--thirty three ships, the smallest a mid-level outrunner, many destroyers and corvettes made up the bulk of it, but a series of five large war cruisers made it clear that this planet was blockaded from other forces. If anyone wished to enter undetected they would enter the night side. Day side wasn't an option, much of the planet's north pole was absorbed in the ki storm that raged on and the rest of it was landing in an arid desert climate ground forces had eyes on. At this rate and with these tactics, Planet Cane would be part of the Kabochan forces in a week, maybe two. Kamui would only accelerate the process the Emperor figured but time would tell.

Kamui wasn't always a pirate. And of course, there was a time when he and his small crew were too small to launch full scale raids, or didn't have the supplies to do such, and thus had to rely on more covert means. He was no stranger to stealth missions, even if his current status as of late didn't involve him taking part in such "Cloak and Dagger" tactics. Nonetheless, upon Cam's laying out of a rather tentative skeleton layout of a plan to be, Kamui found himself nodding in agreement. It seemed like a direct enough plot, which although it sounded easy in theory, was rather difficult in practice and required a lot of things to fall into place first. The former Pirate Captain was no stranger to the war at hand. Hell, the Galactic Empire had it coming. Imperialism bred violence and resistance. The more one expanded, the more the values of independence and freedom rose, and pushed back against dictatorship. That alone bred enough cause for war, without even delving into the plethora of specific reasons why the Saiyan Dominion and Galactic Empire decided to duke it out. But, it only served as an opportunity for them. Their mission was still extremely difficult, but the war at least made their chances of success slightly higher. Intel and support were their best friends for this mission. Cam, Kamui and Absolut arguably had, the least important role in this mission, which was the actual rescue mission. Without the intel they needed and a way to infiltrate in the first place, their mission would escalate to an impossibility, unless violent force was used. And frankly, violent force on Abbayor, one of the hearts of the Empire, wasn't precisely the best move. Not when there were planet busters involved. Yet, one just had to see and let the chips fall where they may. Prayerfully, everything fell correctly. As Cam made move to leave, Kamui himself gestured to his own men. "Kaiju, have Fritz call for a WORKING Parasite to come down to pick us up. We have a date with the Roncinante tonight. Time to get ourselves outfitted, we're gonna be on this planet for awhile." "Of course, my lord. Immediately. We will also make arrangement for the new influx of Crusher Corps officers."Kamui nodded, before looking back to Cam, his men, and Absolut as they piled onto their shuttle. He smirked and held out a hand, a lazy attempt at a wave. "Pleasure doing business with you." Kamui said as he bid farewell to the group. He smirked as he saw the ship fly away. The beginning of a new era was near. And the Frost Demon was more than ready for it. Word Count: 456 | Total Word Count: 8,153 | Emperor Absolut Cam
