“She’s perfect.”
Alva stared at the silent android residing within the stasis pod—stared into the placid face of her greatest creation. Even deactivated, Alva could sense that the girl hummed with unbridled energy.
No… not deactivated. She was merely sleeping.
Her assistant, a stern-faced man quite a few years her senior hovered beside Alva’s shoulder, his face a mask of disapproval. Though whether that disapproval stemmed from the fact that he was forced to play helper to a woman half his age, or the fact that many of the protocols Alva had programmed into this latest iteration of Combat Unit A.6-2 were unauthorized and untested, rife with bugs and coding errors, remained to be seen.
How, then, could this particular unit be of any use to their sovereign?
But Alva insisted, and being the head of the Albarican Research and Development Team, there would be little use in arguing the semantics of the project with her.
“How can you be so sure this model isn’t as defective as the originals?”
“She isn’t. Lilica is the culmination of months of deep research—an engineering masterpiece if ever there was one.”
“Dr. Alva, I must insist—”
“Wake her.”
She cut him off abruptly with a dismissive wave of her hand. The assistant sighed, but did as she requested. He stalked over to the command console, fingers tapping deftly as he input the waking sequence that would jar the android’s brain, jump start her core, and essentially, bring her to life.
The grand meeting room fell silent as Alva entered, followed by a pair of helper drones carrying the large stasis pod. It quickly filled with disapproving stares and doubtful whispers, the quiet hum of discourse between the many leaders and nobles that filled the room for the engineer’s grand presentation.
Directing the drones to set the pod in the center, Alva bowed deep before her Suzerain. A ghostly silence filled the room as the rest of its inhabitants followed suit, haughty heads and royal titles bent low before her regal majesty.
Raising to her full height once more, the raven-haired scientist could scarce hide her grin as she appraised her mighty ruler as one possessed of an invaluable prize.
“Allow me to present you with a gift—the very culmination of months of hard work and endless research. No more loyal subject shall you find within the breadth of your grand empire. I present to you, Combat Unit A.6-2—the gem of Project Rhaegar-Heart.”
She pressed a button on the remote held in her hands. A hydraulic hiss filled the room as the glass tube slid open, spilling swirling cryogas into the room.
Something stepped from the midst of the gases. Not something—someone.
A wreath of blonde hair framed a young, narrow face. Jade green eyes blinked once, twice, as they took in the entirety of the posh surroundings—the fine silk and velvet drapings, the quaint livery of the soldiers and decorated officers, the splendid dressings of the noble men and women who appraised her.
The swirling mists dissipated, only to be replaced with gasps and cries of alarm.
For from the stasis pod had stepped… the Suzerain herself.

839 words @null "The sincerest flattery." Hengroen, Albarican Imperial Flagship, Leading Expeditionary Fleet Caerleon in Darkspace beyond the East Quadrant Knights, nobles, officers, administrators, scientists, wizards and sages. Personnel of the highest ranks within the Expeditionary Fleet filled the grand meeting room. The last time a gathering of these individuals took place, it was the opening hours of the fleet's arrival in Universe 7, to stand and watch as the Suzerain broadcast her fleet-wide proclamation. This gathering was apparently the result of a request from beneath, rather than a decree from above. RDT had requested a public audience to unveil its latest invention. Or rather, its first invention to have been completed on site, the result of months of hard work. The resulting gasps and confusion from many of these individuals was expected, and even as the figure on the throne sat silently, they spoke amongst themselves. "Looks like someone wanted to get everybody's attention," muttered Dame Olwyn, Knight Legate of the 17th Legion, as she stared at the automaton like an interesting sideshow curiosity. Standing along the right side of the carpet, watching the procession take place. "It's working out pretty well." Its creator designated it a combat unit. How well would it match up against a Knight with centuries of experience? "I can't wait to see what she's made of." A smirk ran across her face. "Advanced technology, no doubt. I too would like to witness an assessment of this automaton's capabilities," Sir Grayvian, Knight Lord of Talc, nodded in agreement with his apprentice's concern. A commander of multiple legions, his claim to fame was his victories not through brilliant or radical tactics, but straightforward plans powered by logistics that were second to none. Though he was predictable, his armies were predictably superior to whatever they fought against. Some thought this made him bland and vulnerable. Others believed this made him reliable. Whatever the case, he had rightfully earned his position. "However, that will be up to Her Majesty to decide.""More important, I believe, is the test to its creator's primary claim: that its loyalty is unrivaled across the entirety of the White Empire." Lord High Admiral Pellines. Overall commanding officer of the Expeditionary Fleet. A man who had no time for politics or power play, only for results. This uncompromising stance earned him his current rank, a reputation as a charismatic figure who lived only to serve, and the ire of those who wished to manipulate their way to the top. "Six months is an unfathomably short period of time. Some of us here have served Her Majesty for centuries.""Yes, well utter loyalty can easily be programmed into an automaton," Sir Grayvian waved his hand. "That simply means the standard of measurement will be against that of other automatons, rather than the living, such as ourselves."Pellines merely rubbed his chin in thought. "In any case, the chosen appearance is truly a fascinating matter of debate. Depending on how one were to look at it, it is either one of pure reverence to fashion their product in the image of the Suzerain herself... or an arrogant declaration that it can match up to her in some fashion.""Her Majesty handpicked the top personnel in the Fleet," Olwyn pointed out. "There's no mistake that it's the former. I mean, she's even being offered up as a special gift!"The Lord High Admiral continued to rub his chin. "Perhaps... we shall have plenty of time to see which it is, at any rate. It might take centuries before this mission concludes, after all.""We shall be observing this one's career with great interest," spoke the Ranger Marshal into her comm array as she skulked behind the sidelines, away from most of the chatter. "Proceed as necessary."This was nothing new. Out in the field, the Expeditionary Fleet's personnel should expect no privacy, as the Rangers placed their secret eyes everywhere. Watching not only for intelligence regarding the forces without, but guarding the hearts of those who could be harboring treachery within. "Reporting periods will be set at Code Alpha. Hourly."The room fell silent, and the ranks returned to their ordered places as the Suzerain stood up from her throne to address the gift and its giver. "Someone once wrote that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," she said, regarding the creation that stood before her. A construct built in a way that resembled her almost exactly. Specifically, that of herself in her younger years. This one, however, possessed her own unique air. An individuality that set her above being a mere imitation. For example, Mynia had never done her hair that way. "You have gone above and beyond mere flattery, however, and have given this one her own identity.""For that, I hold this gift in well regard." The Suzerain stepped down from her dais and approached the automaton, until she stood directly in front of her. "You are designated Combat Unit A.6-2. However, that is a label for a tool. A subject has a name. What is yours?"

Automaton. A moving mechanical device made in imitation of a human being. Examples include robot, android, cyborg, bot, droid...
The quiet voice continued to run through an extensive list in the deepest reaches of her consciousness. A woman's voice, though neither her own nor Alva's. E.L.E.X.I.S., or as Alva designated her, Lexi—the twin program entwined in A.6-2's primary AI code in order to assist in and out of combat.
Automaton... is that what she was?
A.6-2 glanced up at the taller woman who stood before her. She boasted an elegance and grace that was exquisite in nature, and an aura that exuded strength and conviction. A woman to be admired, indeed. Jade green eyes peered up into the Suzerain's, took in the elaborate swirls of her stylized hair. Absently, A.6-2 reached up and touched idly at her own.
It was shoulder-length, hung straight as a silk curtain, though not possessed of the same beautiful styling. She frowned, though not out of true disappointment. A.6-2 could not feel any emotions, but she had learned to mimic the visual cues of such.
Her sovereign's request was a simple one.
Though A.6-2 was programmed to return to her "default" setting within Rhomynia's radius, this was a direct order. Alva simply smirked at her nearby, nodding gently to prod the android into responding.
For the first time, A.6-2 opened her mouth and spoke in a tone eerily similar to the sovereign's.
"As you command. Activating protocol. Designation: Rhaegar-Heart."
In an instant, the girl changed. No longer stiff and reserved, her body became loose and fluid as her limbs flew to cover her most sensitive bits. One arm pressed to her petite chest, the other hand thrust low to block the area just below her waist. It was a shame she could not manifest a third hand to cover her slender rear.
A deep blush settled into her face, eyes wide and lips quivering.
A mortified scream erupted from her, high-pitched and juvenile, renting the silence of the cavernous room in twain.
Lilica Rhaegar-Heart was totally and completely nude before the entire audience of the room.
"I could just... literally die right now!" Lily narrowed her brow in particular at two men who studied her with increased interest. Lexi informed her they were Sir Grayvian and Pellines, two high ranking officers of the Expeditionary Fleet. Not that it mattered to her in the slightest. "Stop l-l-looking at me, you pervs!"

304 words @null "The sincerest flattery." The Knight Lord's jaw proverbially dropped. He had long learned to conceal his emotions in public. But the important part was that he was feeling any emotions at all. It was an automaton. Fully artificial, if the reports he had received were any indication. RDT utilized an AI limited to personality emulation rather than an evolving intelligence that could one day become a person. And yet this emulation was the most convincing he'd ever seen, so much that his chivalrous side was compelled to action. An instinctive reaction that he'd used on many an occasion to preserve a lady's modesty, his eyes darted away and focused instead on the silvery mane atop Dame Olwyn's head. Pellines was more overt with his actions. Perhaps 'deliberate' was a better term? The Lord High Admiral reached into his greatcoat and pulled out his peaked cap, which he placed on his head in such a way that the visor covered his eyes. Olwyn only sighed and stepped forward, pausing to bow before the Suzerain and ask. "If I may have your permission, My Liege, I wish to share my coat and clothe her modesty.""The sentiment is appreciated, Dame Olwyn." Rhomynia answered, "However, your offer of sacrifice is an unnecessary one. You may return to your post.""My Liege."As the Knight Legate stood up, her Suzerain set a hand on the automaton's shoulder. Soon with this act, blue energy began to surround her until she was completely covered. In a quick flash, she found herself in respectable attire. Although 'respectable' was relative, as it looked more like something an Earthling would wear than the denizens of Albarica. "This seems to suit your person well," her hand fell back down to her side. "You are, of course, at liberty to disagree with my opinion if you so wish."

She couldn't turn more crimson if she wanted to. Lily had never felt more mortified in her entire life.
But her Sovereign was gracious, materializing some clothing so she no longer stood bared before the court. The clothing was loose, but tasteful, layered upon her slender frame. A striped black and white shirt, her toned legs protruding from a pair of short daisy dukes, ending in sneakers. The blue jean over shirt felt like a protective layer of armor, the hem of the long red overcoat sweeping the spotless floor as she spun in a circle, admiring her new attire.
Lily beamed at Rhomynia, flashing her a pair of upturned thumbs.
"It's great, thank you!"
Another series of shocked gasps swept around the room. All too soon Lily realized how casual her statement was. Blushing once more, she bent stiffly at the waist, arms ramrod straight at her sides.
"S-Sorry! Uh... your grace? Majesty? Erm... S-S-Suzerain!"
She squeezed her eyes shut, head bowed in humble contrition, almost expecting her Liege to swat her over the head. When no such blows came, Lily returned to her full height. She looked at Alva with a question in her eyes, yet Alva offered no cues for direction. She seemed content to stand quietly on the sidelines, and let the fruit of her labor speak for itself.
"Erm... u-uh, one sec, 'kay?"
Whipping around so that her back was facing the rest of the room. Hunched over, a hand cupped around her mouth, all they could hear was a furious whisper.
"Lexi! What the heck am I supposed to say now?!"
Calculating... calculating...
"Seriously?!?! U-u-u-g-g-h!"
A strange choice for an android, indeed.

301 words @null "The sincerest flattery." As the two gentlemen - and most of the court returned to their senses, they found someone who, for the strangest of reasons, did not act with any degree of somber quality in this serious setting. Just moments ago, she had been as one would expect of an automaton. But now, she acted in a most unusual way.
Only the Ranger Marshal, having had extensive exposure with the indigenous population, understood where this attitude came from. Some of the more well-travelled people in general could also see that she reflected the qualities of a commoner from some of the 'modern' planets here.
"Certainly useful for the purposes of direct contact with the indigenous," Sir Grayvian remarked. "I can't see much of a difference."
"I imagine this is how one of the common indigenous would act when faced by sovereign authority," Pellines added. "While we bottle up our feelings perfectly thanks to centuries of ceremony and ritual, their flabbergasted demeanour is open to see."
"Open expressiveness, huh?" Olwyn nodded as she continued to observe the events unfold. "Sort of a lack of shame... erm... certain kinds of shame." The shame of modesty was certainly there, and in a way, a more powerful driving force than the shame of offending the higher power. The latter was not present in this state of programming. "One is instinctive, while the other is cultural."
"An astute observation, my good apprentice," Grayvian nodded at her remark.
"In that event, you may keep it," the Suzerain quietly observed every movement. Every little one designed to perfectly emulate the mannerisms of an indigenous commoner. Very convincing indeed. "Now if you would give me your name, then we can proceed."
It was only proper, after all, for a pair who were about to engage in a duel, to begin with introductions.

235 words "the culmination of perfection."
Now, if you would give me your name, then we could proceed.
Her gentle and authoritative tone reverberated throughout Lilica's being. Like a siren's song, it called to her through the depths of a great oceanic chasm—that chasm being the myriad of differences that would forever keep them worlds apart.
Though she had only just met the Suzerain, Lilica felt as if she'd found an important part of herself. No... not felt. She couldn't feel at all, could she? Perhaps that was the greatest issue.
Standing before her sovereign, she should have felt overwhelmed with a sense of awe and wonder. But there was little time to introspection—again, her sovereign had issued a direct statement, and there was no compulsion stronger than the need for unquestioned obedience.
"Lilica. Lilica Rhaegar-Heart, my Liege."
She bowed with an exaggerated flourish, attempting to mimic what she'd seen the other servicemen do. Rising back to her full height, Lilica stepped close to Mynia. Though they were near equals in height, she stood comically on the tips of her toes.
"Hrm..." Leaning in, Lilica peered closely at Mynia, a hand cupped to her chin in an inquisitive manner as she studied her. "Alva says you look like me. I mean, I guess I can see it, but still... not quite."
She sighed, cocking her narrow hip to one side before planting her fist on it. "You'll get there."

388 words @null "The sincerest flattery." If the Suzerain had time to be amused, instead of dispassionately studying her new subject, she might have smiled. But aside from the fact that this was a public event, where such decorum would prove to be improper, it was simply unlike her to waste her precious time on such little things as amusement.
Some might say this was the same reason that even some in her cabinet believed she was inhuman. Even given their unusually long lifespans, those of Agarthan descent lived life to its fullest when called for. Contrary to what some short-lived races believed, an extensive lifespan didn't turn one into a heartless machine.
It was just that those who lived longer thought of things in longer terms. If one lost their gainful employment of a decades-long career, they would see no need to make a fuss over it, or worse, throw themselves off a bridge. Life was long, and there was plenty of time to start anew.
But the Suzerain? It seemed, to some, that she embodied this very stereotype. Nowhere was this more visible than at this very occasion, where those around her were already straining themselves as they barely held their poker facades together.
Meanwhile, the witness standing at the very epicenter of these antics, Rhomynia I, didn't even give the slightest hint of being perturbed by such uncouth behaviour.
"Lilicia it is, then," the Suzerain finally spoke. "You are clearly already aware of who I am. But it is customary for one such as myself - one that I hope you grow into in time - to give our names to those we meet. It is particularly key to do so before commencing a duel."
The Suzerain raised her hand, and a large door slid open on the wall behind the throne. On the other side lay a hall leading into her personal arena. "I am Rhomynia I, Suzerain of the Albarican White Empire, raised of the Chief Scholar's House of Fullbuster. And on this day, Lilicia Rhaegar-Heart, I shall test your mettle in combat."
At this, she turned about and beckoned for her new subject to follow before beginning her walk down that hall. Everyone who watched understood what was to happen next, and would give the pair a large headstart before they too filed into the arena to watch the spectacle.

[ - the culmination of perfection - ]She could hear their whispers. Even the gentler octaves of doubts and intrigue stirring behind cupped hands as they gossiped among each other were as the crashing of clangorous cymbals in Lilica's ears. The spectators did not believe a mere 'machine' could hold a candle to their illustrious sovereign. "It would seem you miss the point..." Lilica stated it quiet, but direct. It reached the ears of the spectators who, caught off guard at her blunt approach, could do little but stare in awe and wonder at the ramifications of such stellar hearing. But her hearing was merely a component, a fraction of the whole. She returned her gaze to Mynia, inclining her head, unable to meet the eyes of her sovereign. "Forgive me, my liege... I was not aware it was your desire to do combat. I have been programmed for the sole purpose of serving you. I must admit, I find your current directive... troubling." She closed her eyes and inhaled a deep breath, letting it slowly escape through pursed lips. Though she had no need for oxygen or breathing, it was more a nervous habit of a mimicked behavior—that of one attempting to calm their nerves before a daunting task. "I shall not disobey my sovereign. Prepare yourself—I intend to engage you as if you were an enemy. Activating protocol 601.D2—Operation: Stalwart Defense."A sudden white light enveloped her. Her clothing seemed to melt away, only to be replaced with form-fitting armor. It was beautifully wrought, white ceramic with decorative gilded filigree along the breast plate, gauntlets, skirt armor, and greaves. Made of a strange mixture of steel and ceramic plating, it curved and dipped to fit the slender contours of her petite frame. Brandishing her long sword in one hand, Lilica slipped with practiced ease into a defensive stance. Her gentle gaze hardened like the steel she bore in her hands. "May I honor you in this duel!"BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

555 words @null "The sincerest flattery." "It is part of the trials of Knighthood to engage in a duel with one's patron and display one's prowess. As you were created specifically to serve me, then I shall take on that responsibility of testing your ability." The Suzerain explained as she nodded at the request that she prepare herself. This was, after all, a serious matter. Though some might consider a spar to be no more than mere showboating despite the custom (nevermind the fact that the duel with a patron was at the end of the process), or considered the battle decided before it even began... Giving Lilicia a chance to win was never stated as being part of the objective. No, what Rhomynia wanted to see was the full extent of her new subject's capabilities. It was not that she didn't trust the RDT to have developed a superior product that met her standard. They were handpicked, after all, and they knew exactly what she wanted in a servant. It was more of a shakedown than anything else. Yes, she might have looked excellent on paper, and in initial tests. But short of sending her out against a threat beyond her capabilities, this was the safest way they could take her to her current performance limits. "You wanted to see what she was made of," Sir Grayvian crossed his legs as he sat in his place among the VIP boxes, "This is the best way to do so. A detached observational approach, compared to a potentially emotional personal engagement.""But the Suzerain..." Dame Olwyn squinted as she watched the two combatants take up their stances, the automaton with her own sword, and the Suzerain materializing the Flagstaff she was known to use for spars. "I see... the Suzerain is the only one we can trust to control her emotions and deliver her own personal assessment.""Precisely." The Knight Lord of Talc nodded as he opened a holo keypad to tap out his own notes. To his right, the Lord High Admiral remained silent as he chose to keep his own musings to himself. He was a private man, after all. Flagstaff at the ready, the Suzerain began. "As I understand it, the nature of your power renders it undetectable," this of course had quite a bit of tactical uses. "As I cannot determine it by sense, I will have to do so by experimentation."Ah, experimentation... such a pretty little word. Knowledge was something highly valued by Albarican culture. It was this dedication to knowledge that allowed the White Empire to survive the collapse of the WarpNet with the least knowledge lost, at least compared to the three other star nations. And experimentation was one way of discovering new knowledge. This was why the Scientists were held in the same regard as the Wizards. They were two sides of the same coin, with one profession endeavouring to unravel knowledge with science, and the other working to unlock the mysteries of magic. So what kind of experiment did the Suzerain have in mind? It was simple, really. First, she would condense some of her energy in a protective field around her. That was the first part, something predictable that she would do at the beginning of every engagement. Then, she would unleash a burst of her energy at her opponent, to see just how she would react to it, if any. It wasn't always a sure bet to open up with this move, but in this case, it was very much worth trying. She would then follow this up with a series of quick probing strikes with the Flagstaff, prioritizing the limbs and centre of mass to see how she would fare. The burst of magic could not be seen—more so, it could be felt. Yet her scanners did not miss the wispy tendrils of ethereal energy that flew at her. It came at an impossible speed, even her cybernetic mind had trouble processing as it crashed against her like a roiling wave, staggering her back a step or two, try as she might to remain in her stance.
Though there seemed to be few visible effects, the beeps and whirring of numerical values scrolling across her built-in HUD proved otherwise. The energy burst seemed to momentarily short-circuit the hybrid of tech-magic that flowed through her artificial veins.
Structural limb integrity compromised. Strength output has fallen to 70%. Rebooting subroutine functions.
It would be some time before she regained the full breadth of her strength. Lilica would simply have to make do. She expected nothing less from her powerful leader.
"Activate protocol. Designation: Magnetic Pulse."
She raised a hand, the tips of her fingers peeling backward to reveal miniature antennae. From them emitted staccato bursts of pulse energy aimed at Mynia. If successful, they would work to prohibit the natural healing and recovery functions of natural ki energy. This stunted energy would work against its host, and allow Lilica to make up for the loss of damage she suffered from before.
It was a ploy to even the playing field.
She charged at her sovereign, sleek armor clinking and blade held aloft. With a determined set to her jaw, Lilica's vision glowed with blue light as she brought the sword slashing down in a diagonal manner. Even if repelled, she follow it up with an upwards vertical slash, aiming to drag the sharp tip of her double edge blade along Mynia's body.
If not careful, it would split the Suzerain from belly to shoulder.

302 words @null "The sincerest flattery." The energetic pulse waxed and waned as it passed over the Suzerain. Once her probing attacks were all masterfully intercepted, she stepped back and stood tall. "Most impressive," she started, tossing the flagstaff aside. The weapon began to float in midair, rather than fall to the ground as physics would dictate. The only hint that Mynia was experiencing any difficulty at the moment was the almost unnoticed twitch of her left eyebrow. Among the various members of the audience, few if any were able to spot it. Those who did, however, such as the Ranger Marshal, with her eagle eyes, made sure to pay attention. This was a testament to the automaton's efficacy. One would have to wonder if the last act of tossing her own weapon away and leaving herself open to the next set of attacks was a calculated act on her part. Because it certainly looked uncharacteristically reckless, as the Suzerain used a bare gauntlet to deflect the stroke away from her midsection, the resulting gash instead taking her left arm with surprising amounts of blood. Blood that, for some odd reason or another, glowed a faint blue. "I... is she giving herself a handicap?" Dame Olwyn squinted as she tried to study what was happening. "Possibly," Sir Grayvian also tried to find an answer that would satisfy what was going on. "We'll have to see what she does next."The Suzerain knocked her opponent back and held open her palm, within which a sphere of brilliant blue energy formed. "Now then, let us go forth." Stepping back, the ball continued to float in place, even as she punched it, sending it flying at her opponent. At the flick of her wrist, so too did the flag staff. Distractions, allowing her time to imbue her fists with ki and charge the automaton, to see what she was made of, no doubt. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARYCrippled for 4 Turns Agonized for 2 turns. Drain 3 ki. Fighting against her protocols was difficult. Yet the Suzerain demanded the most skilled of combative opponents, so as much as it troubled Lilica to attack her, she would strive to give her all in this fight.
It was no surprise when Mynia deflected her blow. Lily had gotten closer than expected, so if an android could register surprise, her raised brows and widened eyes displayed such a thing. But there was little time to reflect on this—Mynia had launched a flurry of successive attacks at her, and it would take all of her wherewithal to overcome this assault.
"Activate protocol. Designation: Defense Amplification."
Power was diverted from her core to her external shields, invisible to the naked eye, though it operated much like the aura of adept ki wielders. The ball of blue energy smashed into her hasty defense, and despite the extra power, it broke through with little effort. Combined with the flagstaff as it slammed into her sternum and drilled her backward, it was an effective attack, and she almost didn't dodge the flurry of fists sent hurled her way. Almost.
Lilica grimaced as she skidded backward, an outburst of concussive artificial ki all that managed to halt her forced retreat. A quick alert popped onto her HUD. Her defenses had managed to absorb the majority of damage, but she had not escaped unscathed.
It was time to get serious.
Lilica hoisted her blade high above her head, magenta aura swirling around her metallic being. It seemed to pour into the very blade itself, until it glowed with an ethereal red light full of swirling, lancing energies.
"Forgive me, my Liege, but I shall spare nothing! Activate protocol. Designation: Providence. Blade of Valiance and Truth!"
She launched herself at Mynia once more, slashing wildly in vicious arcs, looking to drive the woman back and create more openings to be exploited.

345 words @null "The sincerest flattery." The challenge with sparring someone of this decent calibre, who had the ability to conceal their power - probably because it was not 'natural' to begin with - was precisely that. Mynia understood that Lilicia was beneath her station, but the challenge was ascertaining how far she should hold back when it came to combat. It appeared that the automaton was, however, equipped with various gadgets that could be used for offense and defense. These were abilities that could easily be overpowered and nullify the point of the assessment if she had judged incorrectly. The name of the game was accuracy in prediction, establishing what could and could not be done. From what she could tell, however, the suite was impressive. As such, one would not be blamed if they considered maneuvering to defeat that suite somehow. Regardless of whatever she was built to do, the Suzerain's senses were attuned to spotting at least one strength of her opponents and turning it against them, in a manner of speaking. Taking a defensive stance, she would reach out with her energies that would seek to find the origin of this inner toughness, sap it of its power, and divert it to the Suzerain's own use. As such, even as the empowered blade struck her gauntlet, it had already been filled with this defensive force, and absorbed most of the damage. Once again, it skidded along the hand armour and ended up grazing along her arm. "Your power is as effective as your swordplay," she started. With a flick of her wrist, the flagstaff would charge again, this time from an oblique side. "But let me see what happens when I put in a little more effort."Her right gauntlet began to glow with crackling golden energy. The Suzerain took a step to brace her arm as she pulled it back, before unleashing a controlled burst of power. Whether or not it hit directly, the blast was sure to leave its mark on its target, dissipating into the ether before it did something as dangerous as damaging the stadium. Lily watched the energy build in Mynia's gauntlet with impassive difference. It could almost be said there wasn't an ounce of fear at the sight of the powerful assault being prepared to be launched.
But that would be incorrect. In battle, Lily was not as expressive as a real mortal—all of her mental facilities were engaged in analyzing data, developing tactics, and countering enemy movement. Her HUD was a flood of symbols and data, all of which her brain processed at a rapid speed in order to calculate her next move.
Scanning energy output. Scale of destruction: Greater.
Divert power from core to bolster defense. Recommended course of action: Deflect.
She slid into a defensive stance, bracing herself for impact. The golden energy slammed into her, driving her backwards. Lily's armored boots dug hard into the ground. Her propulsion engines sparked to life in order to fight against the tide of energy sweeping over her body. Teeth gritted, Lily bore the brunt of the attack until she felt the slightest hint of give as it naturally began to dissipate. With a heavy cleave of her blade, she sliced clean through the energy as it exploded against the barrier on either side of her.
Her sword glowed red once more as she immediately went on the offensive, slashing at Mynia twice more.
Power core output holding at 65%. Energy failure imminent.
Recommended course of action: complete engagement as soon as possible.

343 words @null "The sincerest flattery." Considering the actions of one's enemy was a key factor in working on a plan of attack. On the one hand, you needed to pursue the momentum and continue pushing them until they defeated. On the other hand, you had to deal with their own tactics and counterstrikes as well. For one such as the Suzerain, experience had taught her that the first few moments of a battle were crucial in determining one's odds of winning. If one had set themselves up appropriately, then the chances of pulling ahead were much greater. But as this was a spar, and as she could not read her opponent as clearly as she could, it was very likely that she would make a mistake in how much leeway to her opponent to gauge her abilities without utterly crushing her from the get-go. Suffice it to say, that even at this particular level of release, Lilicia was taking this very well. If anything, her superior agility had allowed her to deal more damage to the Suzerain while taking less on her own. Rhomynia, for the most part, remained her usual stalwart self, choosing to rely on her resilience to carry much of this fight to allow her to keep up with her opponent in terms of momentum. She took another opportunity to do so, lifting her off-hand to catch the blade directly. The crackling crimson energies enveloping it shredded into her gauntlet and bruised her hand, but she had succeeded, regardless. The sword hung motionless in mid-swing as the Suzerain reached out with her right hand to call upon the flagstaff. The weapon returned at her beckoning, and taking advantage of the initiative, she would unleash another wild burst of power, one intending to interfere with her sensors, before attempting to slam the staff into the automaton's abdomen with such ferocity that even an avoidance of this would not entirely save her. After that, she would switch angles, and, flagstaff still in hand for later use, instead focus on repeatedly punching at her foe's centre of mass. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARYSidekick Dismissed.
