These are a people who have suffered greatly.
Aubus floated mid-air, observing the small coastal population before him. He could remember a time when the Kanassian people boasted grand cities constructed beautifully upon the larger islands. Their people were greatly respected for their psychic capabilities and divination—even more so for peace and harmony they sought among each other and the rest of the universe.
It was to be admired, and it was the exact sort of ideology that brought Aubus from the Other World to begin with.
If more worlds could be like the inhabitants of Planet Kanassa, there would be little need for strife, war and conflict. If only the rest of the universe laid down their arms and attempted to understand each other...
It is of little matter. I shall bring Perfect Balance to the universe, one way or another.
He began his slow descent.
The natives treated him with caution.
It was to be expected.
Aubus lifted a placating hand as he stood in the midst of the crowd of gathering Kanassians. It was a strange sight, to see so many large beings crowding together as if to form a bulwark against a being of such small stature. Perhaps they had learned to be cautious when dealing with outsiders.
"Do not fret, and let your thoughts remain at peace. I understand the atrocities you have suffered at the hands of the Saiyans. Rest assured, every wrong that has been unjustly done to your people will be amended. By mine own hand."
He lowered his hand, allowing a hint of a smile to grace his lips.
"The Gods understand your plight. I am here as a response to it. I ask not that you revere and worship me—only afford me the authority with which I can begin to help you reshape your future."
He spoke confidently, hoping to instill a sense of peace among them.
This was the crux of Aubus's purpose.

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil @null, NOTES Times when Absolut would be let to roam Kabocha freely and train there without Duria's supervision were rare, but the Frost Demon cherished any of those moments. It was the closest thing he would have to freedom in this new life of his. Sure, there was no way for him to escape the planet without being noticed and the absolute majority of the planet was noting but desolate wastes, but it beat sitting in your room or strolling across the ship's corridors all day. Absolut would usually spend this time either getting some energy control practice by blasting rocks, hiking up mountains to check out the sights or just flying around to see if anything new has popped up on Kabocha's service. If anything did, Cam would have to be reported to immediately. But that's besides the point. Today, Absolut's small break of false freedom brought him to a Kabochan village, one which had been slightly less affected by the wars, desolation and the Tree of Might's sucking than most of its peers - that is to say, it actually existed instead of just being an abandoned ruin. Strolling through one of the streets, the Frost Demon slightly cowered his face, trying to not make eye contact with anyone - mostly for his safety, just in case anyone here was trying to hunt for him, but also because the Kabochan people did not view Frost Demons positively. To them, the entire species was associated only with that rotten tyrant Frieza. Absolut had all the intention to help these people in their plight, but these preconceived notions were not helping at all. Today, however, the streets were surprisingly quiet. Was it a holiday today? No, probably not, Duria would have probably mentioned it otherwise... Taking a sharp turn at a crossroads, leading to the town square, the Frost Demon found the real answer. A short mysterious man was speaking to crowd gathering all around him. With soft, though confident words... about amending the wrongs made by the Saiyans, relieving the plight of the Kabochan people - if only they were to afford him the authority to reshape their future. Standing at the side and watching the ordeal, Absolut found himself somewhat conflicted. This man didn't seem like he was lying, he definitely sought to help others... but he needed to wrest the authority over Kabocha from Cam to do so, and Cam was looking after the interests of the Kabochan people as well... Plus, why would someone heroic seek to acquire authority? Heroism is an authority in its own right. He needed to investigate. Absolut pushed through the crowd, eventually meeting the mysterious man face to face, and spoke: "Who are you?" (448 words)

It was not the lofty speech or grandiose words, though the Shinjin could be quite articulate should he so desire. Aubus often tried to relate to mortals on their plane of existence. These were a common people, who understood common needs, and often tried to meet those needs among each other.
It was an admirable culture, to say the least.
He could tell, with just those few words, the people's minds were waning. They dipped their heads together, speaking in quiet tones as they contemplated the stranger's offer.
Who is he... some sort of warlord... Crusher Corps territory... some sort of revolution?
Aubus allowed them a moment to process the information. But when it became clear no answer was forthcoming, he thought it to be better to... persuade them to his way of thinking. After all, he was a God of Creation. Who else could understand their plight and put their interests first?
But before he could further allay their fears, a young Frost Demon broke through the tide of the crowd and questioned him as to who he was. He was about as out of place there as Aubus was. Aubus did not like the look of him, not one bit.
"Who am I? I am a savior of all people. I have come to offer these people a reprieve. What have you to offer them, Frost Demon?"

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil @null , NOTES The mysterious alien's response was far from what Abolut had anticipated. Instead of saying his name or briefly introducing himself, the man went for a posh reaction, presenting himself as a savior of all people and one who has come to offer then a reprieve. This was followed up by him practically attacking Absolut, asking what he has come to offer them, as if they were in a some sort of argument. The Frost Demon didn't have any plans to come into conflict with this mystery, but it was hard to not get a poor impression of him after this introduction. Still, two dozens sets of eyes, including the red eyes of the so-called "savior" were staring directly into the young Frost Demon, so he had to offer a some sort of response. And his mind was feeling a little bold today. "I am Absolut. I am a hero." Though Absolut's face remained stern, even a little confident - an emotion which had been alien to him for a long time - a conflux of emotions immediately burst into life in his head. How dares he label himself as a 'hero' when he has done nothing but be a nuisance to the real heroes of the Universe? When he has done nothing but cower in fear and only burst out to help others in moments of crisis? The Valkyries were heroes, his father... acted like a hero, but he was not. At best, he was a wannabe. "You still haven't explained who you are, though." (255 words)

Who is this Frost Demon? And why does he feel the need to interfere?
Though he kept a serene grin for the sake of appearance, Aubus narrowed his gaze as he studied Absolut. He presented himself as a 'hero'. That was an interesting choice of words.
The people seemed confused. They glanced between the two outsiders, weighing their words, as if torn between these two choices. Aubus could not allow himself to lose the confidence of the people. It truly was his desire to make a better universe, where things such as genocide were no longer tolerated because his own guiding hand would prevent it. Aubus knew there would be obstacles on this quest—this Absolut would be just one of many to come.
And there was but one way to deal with an obstacle.
"I am Aubus. You are Absolut. I present myself as a savior—of all mortals, not just those within earshot." Aubus raised his hands, spreading them wide, as if offering himself to the crowd. "I have nothing to hide. I am not a mortal, twisted by my own personal greed and desires. I am a Kai, from Other World. And I am here to help."
Aubus lowered his hands, instead leveling an accusatory finger in Absolut's direction.
"What of you, Absolut? What is your legacy? We, Gods of Creation, maintain the balance necessary to cultivate life and equality among all. But frost demons? What good has the Frieza Force brought to this universe? I can tell you of a great evil brought by the Frieza Force... and that is the dread tyrant, Frieza, himself."
The people gasped, concerned looks overtaking their faces. Some shuddered, opting to give Absolut a wide berth as Aubus's words conjured images of that most feared villain who was thankfully dead.
It worked to perfection.
"You tout yourself a hero, Frost Demon. But what good could possibly come from one such as yourself?"

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil @null , NOTES You tout yourself a hero, Frost Demon. But what good could possibly come from one such as yourself?Absolut clenched his lips tighter, trying to hold himself back from now. It is true, he only called himself a hero. He had yet to do something... heroic. In fact, much like Absolut had told himself in his mind mere minutes ago, he was usually only a nuisance for actual, established heroes. His dream to become a Valkyrie was a very distant one - if they would ever even consider accepting the son of their worst enemy within their ranks, anyway. But he never asked for being compared to that disgusting emperor Frieza. Absolut did not much about that historical genocidal overlord of the Planet Trade Organization... but what he did know was that he never wished to be associated with him. "If you see yourself as such a savior of all mortals, not twisted by personal wishes or desires..." the young Frost Demon spoke, trying to use Aubus's manner of speech against him, to... limited success. "Then why do you dismiss entire species as completely unable of doing good acts? Why do you see some mortals above others?" You know, the expression "savior of the people", "savior of the innocent" really reminds you of someone, doesn't it? Some particular current emperor who labelled himself with the exact same titles back before his betrayal. However, Absolut knew that simply mentioning Polaris would be too risky. The people of Kabocha disliked him enough even without the knowledge of whose kin Absolut was. "I remember an another person who calls himself the hero of the people and the savior of the innocent, and who also dismissed entire species for arbitrary reasons. If you want to be the next him, then I cannot let this continue." (303 words)

It was typical behavior of a Frost Demon. They cared for little other than themselves, and that was evident here. What else could explain the sudden appearance of this youth? Was he lurking amidst the crowd, a wolf among sheep, working secretly for the emperor in order to keep these people in line? Or was there a far more sinister purpose at play here?
Absolut’s words did not strike a nerve within Aubus. He stood still, shoulders squared and gaze even, hands cupped idly behind his back. There was little reason to be riled up. He needed only look at the people to understand this.
Some of them were regarding Aubus with caution, though these were those who held him in suspicion the moment he had arrived. Others seemed unsure of either candidate, and still others sensed the stir of a revolution in their hearts. No matter the species, it was the very nature of all living beings to resist oppression—to fight for the will to live out their meager existence in freedom.
Freedom.
They would only be sold on freedom.
“Arbitrary? He calls the actions of that tyrant Frieza, a prime example of the brutality his kind are capable of arbitrary? Was it arbitrary that these very people were unjustly assault and enslaved by the Planet Trade Organization? Was it arbitrary when they lost their homes, their children, their very livelihood to the Frieza Force? If it is arbitrary to right the wrongs of your dread ancestor, then fine… call me arbitrary.”
Now is the time to act, while their notions are swayed.
“I shall not allow you to enslave them again.”
His aura flared to life, the force knocking the crowd back several paces. Aubus lifted off the ground and shot into the air, looking to create distance from the people. If he could deal with Absolut, it would only cement his position as their savior.
He spun around in haste, and fired off a pair of energy bolts, looking to catch Absolut unawares!

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil @null , NOTES I will not allow you to enslave them again. This person... this person... this person thinks... that Absolut is here to enslave people? That he is here to become the next Frieza, or Polaris? And then he lifted himself off into the sky, blowing away people with his aura and firing energy blasts to the crowds below just because Absolut was down there?! This person wasn't a savior at all. He was a venomous liar, a murderer. Absolut leaped forward, catching both of the incoming energy blasts with his hands - just like Duria taught him - and tossed them into the sky, where they couldn't harm anyone. The young Frost Demon's usual frightened and carefree expression had faded away completely. What was left was only the fury of a person trying to be the hero of the story. A person trying to be more than a splash in the torrent of life. As they say, demons run when a good man goes to war. " I am not here to enslave anyone. I am here to protect them, from the likes of you." A comically large energy hammer formed into shape in Absolut's right hand, and the young Frost Demon charged forward - not opening up with a hammer smash, however. His first attack was sending his left index finger towards Aubus's eyes in an attempt to blind him, only then did he swung his hammer forth to try to strike the mysterious intruder with all his might. Goading the youth into battle was so easy, it was almost disappointing. Yet it fit, like a piece of the puzzle, and though Aubus had not come to Kanassa seeking conflict among the peace-faring people, he had lived long enough to know how to turn an inopportune moment to his very advantage. His energy blasts were deflected with ease before Absolut charged after him.
He threw his fingers into Aubus's eyes. That was unexpected, and Aubus cried out more in annoyance than pain. It was an irritation, to be sure, but a Shinjin did not fight with his eyes. He fought with his head, and with his heart. Mortalkind was limited, however a Kai was not. Though it robbed him briefly of his vision, Aubus sensed more than saw the next attack coming. Something large and oppressive slammed into him, just as he got his left arm up. The hammer drove him to one side, tossing him through the air. He had to give the frost demon credit—it was a painful and effective attack.
It left the entire left side of his body numb with soreness, stinging remnants of the assault buzzing through him. Regaining his bearings, Aubus flickered from view, dodging the second blow from the hammer. That one might have broken something. He appeared below, surprising the villagers as he collapsed against one of the larger males. Pretending to be winded and far more injured than he was, Aubus thrust an accusatory finger at Absolut.
"Open your eyes! Be not deceived! Nothing good can come from his ilk. Fear not, though this foe is strong—" His jaw tensed as Aubus raised a hand and clenched it into a tight fist. "—a savior cannot fail the people!"
With determination burning in his gaze, Aubus launched himself upwards, ensconced in aura as he propelled himself like a rocket straight at Absolut. Though the hammer was impressive, its range made it useless in close combat. Aubus threw a quick palm strike, more to stun the youth than inflict harm. He followed up, flipping backward, aiming a kick at Absolut's chin.
That one, if connected, would hurt.

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil @null , NOTES Once again, in response to Absolut's charge, Aubus began to monologue and gloat, declaring that nothing good could ever come from the Frost Demon kind. It's as if he wasn't even aware of what was going on around him and lived in his own little rose world, where Absolut was no hero, only a villain like he imagined all Frost Demons to be. There were few things that the youngster could say in response and not make matters even worse. One of those things was what Absolut decided his next course of actions to be. " You would have killed them all if not for me, you... you sociopath!" Absolut exclaimed while he used the handle of his energy hammer to block the incoming palm strike and kick. The weapon dissipated afterwards. What kind of maniac throws energy blasts into a field full of breathing, living beings, huh? Certainly not the same type of person who also claims to be saving them from suffering. Well... you never know with extremists, of course, but the Venn diagram here is probably very narrow. Absolut lunged forward yet again, but this time, a series of energy construct chains shot out of his hand, aiming to wrap themselves around Aubus and squeeze him tightly. Whether or not it was successful, the Frost Demon would follow it up by creating an energy dagger in his other hand and sending it forward to try to stab the mysterious alien. (243 words)

Something wasn't right.
Though his vision was restored, Aubus felt as if he were still a blind man groping in the dark. There was a shadow encroaching on his mind, and his heart. He could not quite put a finger on its source, but as a divine being, Aubus could sense the dark magics twisting his thoughts much like one could discern the difference between night and day.
You could not see the literal shift of the position of the sun as it dipped toward the horizon, but you knew it was happening, nonetheless.
What else could explain this manic feeling of euphoria that washed over him as the energy chains lassoed around his body and latched onto him, constricting painfully, sizzling where the raw energy touched his clothing? The constriction forced his thoughts to the present danger at hand, just in time for Aubus to discern the dagger that was being plunged at him.
Even so, that dark energy tugged at his conscious mind, threatened to sweep him fully into its inky folds.
Aubus flickered from view the moment the dagger would have assailed him, the chains falling loose around the empty space where his body once dwelled. Aubus reappeared behind Absolut, so close, his lips nearly brushed the youth's ears. His eyes seemed to glow with uncharacteristic malice as he accosted the youth in a soft, dangerous whisper meant to make the skin crawl.
"You would skewer your god? Poor fool. Note the error of your ways."
Aubus snapped his fingers, and the gravity surrounding Absolut began to shift and distort. He would feel as if his limbs had turned to lead, his mind clouding over with darkness. It was a dangerous magical technique, one forbidden among the Kai. But why should he care? Was he not a god? This mortal needed to be punished for opposing him.
As the final nail in the coffin, Aubus raised his hands, supercharging the air surrounding Absolut. It began to ripple with potent energy. His outstretched hands became tight fists, igniting the energy, causing a massive explosion!

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil @null , NOTES "Waah!" Absolut exclaimed in fright when Aubus suddenly began to speak into his ear from behind him, instinctively leaping forward and turning around. This weird person was not just trying to be a murderer... but a creep, too? Absolut's leap back suddenly slowed down, however, when the boy suddenly got a feeling of heavier and heavier weight. As if there were a few tons of balast attached to his legs, trying to drag him down. The Frost Demon cracked the code fairly quickly - this was a some sort of gravity manipulating technique. Unfortunately, by the time he got that idea, Aubus was already getting ready to strike. I... I can't move...Was he really going to have to take all of this? No, that's not what Duria or Cam would tell him to do... An idea suddenly popped into the Frost Demon's mind. He let go of his flight and let himself get dragged to the ground at massive speeds, slamming into the town square face-first, but also avoiding the burst of energy heading his way. From there, it was a little more simple. Still somewhat struggling, the Frost Demon stood back up, raising his right hand and forming an energy pistol in his grip, immediately unloading several rounds at Aubus. (212 words)

Yes. Crush the little fool. And make him regret ever opposing a God such as yourself. The voice seemed to tug at Aubus's mind, causing him to lose focus. He cried out as Absolut returned fire, the energy bullets slamming into his torso and left arm. The damage wasn't severe, though he boasted several small burn marks along his arm and chest where the bullets sprayed him. It was already beginning to bruise.
Don't you see? Aubus's eyes were like stone as he appraised his foe. He does not offer the respect the gods deserve. Why protect this mortal? Why protect any of them? His steel gaze swept along the crowd far below, whom were fearful yet enthralled of this unexpected encounter. Look at them... no more than sheep who no longer obey the crook of the shepherd's staff. They don't deserve your protection.
The madness was beginning to take hold. And Aubus could not fight it any longer. "Even I am not immune to the evil emanating from your very heart, demon. I will snuff you out before you can work your demonic magic any further!" He trust his hands forward, distorting the gravitational field all around Absolut, catching many of the crowd in the crossfire.
"Judgment of the Gods!" The colorless ki surged forth from his hands, rippling and swirling around Absolut. Another snap of his fingers, and it ignited in another large explosion.

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil @null , NOTES As the fight dragged on, it appeared as if Aubus was turning more and more crazy - from power or from being challenged, Absolut didn't know, but with such a wicked fixated gaze, lacking sense of preservation of the people around them and accusing Absolut of more and more ridiculous things, it certainly felt like it. This made the mysterious man more and more threatening to deal with, however - he was turning unpredictable, to the point where even the safety of everyone around the battle was turning precarious. Kabochan spectators were being lifted up into the air and tossed around by the rapidly changing gravity, and yet he didn't even turn his eyes. With this dilemma in face, Absolut dropped whatever he may have been doing regarding the fight and instead turned his attention to the people, ignoring the intensifying gravity and speeding across the battlefield, catching as many as he could and pushing them out of the way of Aubus's Judgment of the Gods, avoiding the powerful technique himself. At the same time, his eyes caught the way Aubus was firing the attack. Instead of sending it forward directly, he would gather colorless ki around the target and only then detonate it, as a way to ensure that it landed. I can do that too. Duria taught me how to conceal my ki and disperse it around an area. And I'll have to try that... it's not a bad technique at all. After putting down the last civilian, Absolut turned his sights back towards the crazy alien in the sky. This small beak of saving the people around him did wonders to recover his stamina - perhaps, now that the gravity seemed to have gone back to normal, he can try again? Or... "I give you a chance to leave in peace. You're not going to convince anyone anymore." the Frost Demon spoke. (313 words)

Those who were unaffected by the manipulation of gravitational forces scattered as the explosion rocked the town center. Wooden stalls were blown to splinters. Store fronts were buffeted by concussive force, their windows shattered upon impact. The ground itself crumbled, great fissures splitting the earth as it fell away. The damage Aubus had dealt to the people was insurmountable.
How could he do such a thing? Wasn't he supposed to be a savior? Some did not fare as well as others. Those trapped in the gravity fields were spared due to Absolut's intervention, still others were caught in the blast and thrown backward, into homes and buildings, crashing through roofs. A wail of anger and indignation rose from among the people as they began to turn on Aubus.
Absolut stood like a hero among them. Aubus sneered at the youth's offer to allow him to leave the area in peace. "Leave in peace? An Arcosian, offering me peace? How laughable! Do you see the suffering of the people?" Aubus gestured to the outraged crowd with a sweep of his hand. "This is all your doing, demon! I will not retreat. I will avenge."
It mattered not that Aubus was the current cause of their destruction. So warped and twisted was his logic, so dark the magic that had tainted his heart, he could not see clearly enough to understand the pain he was causing. Raising his hands to the skies, Aubus created four large hands from purple ki. With a thrust of his arms, he sent two of the fists hurtling toward Absolut, aiming to crush him.

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil @null , NOTES Has it been mentioned that Aubus is going crazy? Because I'm pretty sure Aubus is going crazy. Or blind. That would also be a good explanation why he accuses Absolut of being the person who caused all this suffering around them, and not him with his god damn gravity manipulation powers. Unless he was never good or heroic in the first place and only acted to be that way to gain power from the Kabochan people... which would not be unprecedented. The young Frost Demon said nothing, standing on the ground, hoping for Aubus to change his mind and leave until the last second, moments before the alien's energy construct fists struck him, which is where he raised his hands and caught the incoming blows. The pressure caused Absolut's feet to slightly dig into the ground and his muscles to ache, but after a few seconds, the push stopped and the Frost Demon took a somewhat easier sigh. Invisible ki started to surround Aubus and traces of bio-electricity began to crackle around Absolut. As soon as the technique was finished and ready for deployment, the Frost Demon opened his mouth and spoke: "Judgment of the Gods." The colorless, invisible ki around Aubus suddenly detonated in a small, controlled, but dense and powerful explosion. (213 words)

Judgment of the Gods.
Absolut's words stunned Aubus. For a moment, he forgot his own righteous anger. Were his ears deceiving him? Was it some sort of distraction? There was no way Absolut could mimic such an attack, no mortal for that matter! Only a god could deliver judgment upon the his creation. Yet there was no denying the charge in the air, invisible energy crackling around him.
Aubus had but mere seconds to understand what was happening. Thrusting his arms up in the shape of an 'X', he had no time to react as the area around him lit up with brilliant light.
The resulting explosion was tremendous, waves of concussive force stirring up powerful winds. They swept through the area, buffeting all those who remained in the town square below. The wind tore at their clothing, tossed the loose boards and stones about as a hail of debris was blown outward from the epicenter of the blast.
All fell silent.
The villagers choked on the dust, coughing into the crook of their arms, eyes stinging as they tried to peer through the dense cloud of debris that fell all around them.
Was it over? Had the rampage of the mad god been brought to a halt?
A pair of twin glowing fists erupted through the dust cloud, sweeping away the remaining debris. Aubus gritted his teeth, his face streaked with dirt and clothing tattered where it was impacted from the blast.
"You dare to judge a god?!"
With a sweeping gesture, Aubus sent the two remaining fists hurtling at Absolut. He might have gotten lucky enough to block the first two, but that would have required tremendous effort. Could his narrow frame withstand yet another powerful assault from an angry god? Aubus looked to crush him where he stood!

Mr. Cam's Reluctant Pupil @null , NOTES You dare to judge a god?!Absolut's answer to Aubus's frenzied question was simple: "Yes." History repeated itself. Once again, the alien threw the two of his fists at the Frost Demon to try to subdue him, and once again, the youngster raised his hands to catch the two blows in mid-air and nullify all of the damage they might have done. This constant blocking and dodging was draining at his stamina, sure... but it was also why, after all of this fighting, Aubus was tattered and ridden with dirt while Absolut was still completely fresh. Once again, the Frost Demon began to surround his opponent with invisible ki. This technique was surprisingly effective. The invisible setup of the technique made it harder to notice, while the fact that you surround the opponent with it makes it significantly harder to dodge. Maybe that's why the Frost Demon decided to copy it and use it against its wielder. Whatever the reason, the technique was also fairly easy and quick to set up, and moments later, Absolut muttered yet again: "Judgment of the Gods." The invisible ki surrounding Aubus detonated yet again. Hopefully, this would be enough to finally put an end to this battle, before Aubus does something even more crazy. Like level the whole town. His judgment was righteous. His actions were true. His thoughts were holy and divine, far above the expectations of mortals.
It should not have been possible to defeat a god. Aubus left Other World for one purpose—to be guiding beacon of hope, for all mortals were trapped in the eternal cycle of war, pain and death. There was little good in them. They did not honor their creators. They lived with reckless abandon and put no thought to the life beyond this one, when they should breathe their last and leave behind their mortal coil to be judged by King Yenma.
How could it be, then, that Aubus could not stop a single mortal?
He spasmed as the blast hit him once again. Gobs of spit shot forth from his gaping mouth, eyes bulging as the powerful blast enveloped him. As the energy dissipated, there was a hollow ringing in his ears as his listless body floated in mid-air. Yet it could not compare to the hollow cavern in his heart.
Somewhere along the path he trod, a wrong turn had been taken.
The air around him began to sparkle and fizz. Aubus closed his eyes, an ironic grin forming on his lips. He recognized this magic—it belonged to that of his master, in Other World. He was transporting Aubus back to the Sacred World of the Kais.
Aubus could only imagine what discipline awaited him there.
His body rippled and distorted, and soon, he was gone.
