There were few times that Kazabada truly had time to himself on his own ship. His allies, Okata and Vex, were often coming and going from the ship during its routine trips in and out of Earth, and he made it his duty to see to them when they were aboard. Whether they were fond of the idea or not. He had a tendency to be around when he was needed, and even more when he wasn't. But right now, what he needed most was his privacy. He took these few hours, when his subordinate and partner were out and he tired of dealing with his imps as entertainment, to scratch an old itch. Something that had troubled him since he had returned from the demon realm. Something that was there when he went back, and someone that should have been there when he returned. Did he feel betrayed? Certainly not. As far as their bond had been, to most demons it might have been miniscule. But Kavra had to admit... he was disappointed. He'd had better hopes for that man. The old tea making wizard. Hachi. So much hope that now, in his private hours in space, he turned to his newest hobby. Kavra had taken to magic since his return, not surprising, many demons did at some point in their lives. And his magical ability now was turned towards blowing the dust off of that old demon pact of theirs, stretching the connection, feeling for his partners life force... compelling him forward. Kazabada had ambition, and intent on this world, and his old friend's wizardry is immensely important to that goal... he needed him, he thought. Not even necessarily to see his goals through to the end, but just to be able to see that this man was still alive, and reconnect. And discover what had occurred. How had he ended up in the Demon Realm so suddenly? And where had Hachi been when he returned? To answer these questions, Kavra hovered over his crystal ball, summoning, swaying and sashaying about with its magic. For hours, across days, in any moment he could. Toe-deep in the expanse of space, hovering just beyond earth's jurisdiction... he waited for an answer. 371 Words Lute

SON GOHAN PARK, East City - Earth. The fountain babbled and flowed, perched atop it the scholarly bust of Son Gohan, wrinkled and aged with glasses. Pigeons flitted in hopped in their large flock. Hachi sat on a bench, one leg crossed over the other. The sun was out, radiant but low in the sky. It was late autumn, the leaves having turned and shriveled earlier in the season. Now they coated the grounds and filled the cracks, at least those of which that didn't get the raking treatment. The wizard's hand reached into a bag as he took hold of a pinch of meal and tossed it through the air. The specks of corn and grain rained across the smooth cobblestones and the pigeons converged in a feeding frenzy. Lazy eyes beneath the shadow of a bucket hat studied the statue. Son Gohan had written the book Groundbreaking Science. He was part of the reason that the Earthlings had propelled themselves to a galaxy-scaled civilization. Hachi had read the book a few times. It was a punctual and accurate statement about the nature of ki. Yet, he always found it disappointing that it didn't at all attempt to describe the phenomenon of magic. Most ki users came across it at some point in their journey of learning. Then again, it was much harder and far more complicated subject, he supposed. He couldn't blame Son Gohan after all for keeping it simple. People were stupid. As he went for a second handful, he felt a sensation trail down his spine. Someone was watching him. The presence was afar, gazing upon him through a looking glass. Hachi often got spied upon by other wizards, most of which were trying to locate him for a favor or for a lesson. He chucked the meal and then crumpled up the back, grabbing his can before walking down the sidewalk. "Oh Kavra," he muttered aloud. "It's been a long time. Too long."

The room reflected that which was seen in the ball, and when it focused its view onto Hachi, the long awaited reciprocation of the call cast the room in green light. The humble magical center was reigned back into its soft purple hues by Kavra, very quickly. He was excited! Yes! But he would be controlled, he would be contained he would keep himself under his own thumb, and not let himself squirm out. Though he was certainly squirming, oh yes he was squirming. Hachi! They hadn't been exceptionally close, but there was no denying the connection between. Especially when it was written in blood. He had thought Hachi would have been his most trustworthy ally of all... but when Kavra returned, where had he been?
Hachi may have picked up the phone, but he wasn't off the hook yet. A pair of blue hands pressed against the magical orb, and Kavra began to materialize before Hachi. Not in any way available to the perception of mere mortals, not in any way that could be viewed that anyone who wasnt attuned to the magical. Who wasn't a wizard. The leaves and the earth shifted, as if a presence had entered, and that's all that would be able to be seen by those standard to the world.
To Hachi though, the shape of the demon was unmistakable, even if his projection was not 100%. The wizard could see the glow of his eyes, the haze of his aura, and the distortion in his core. A representation of that strange stomach of his. That terrifying and strange stomach of his.
"Hachi! My love-el-el-ely partner....", the apparition traveled beside him. It did not move, so much as it just began to exist in a new location. ".....Care to... explain? Koo, koo, koo..." Expressions and features were impossible to portray through this veil of magic. There were only eyes. Hachi would have no information beyond the fact that there was a connection, and that they were connected.

Kavra's form appeared before Hachi, all smoke and shadow--very demony. The spell was quaint trick of astral projection. It was the magician's version of a holo-conference. Hachi's cane tapped with each step as he strolled down well groomed avenue. He had meandered the rich rich part of town. The hovercars here were expensive, most high-end Capsule Corp models. Each one had shine, chrome, and polish. The women that strutted past him wore in faux-firs and exotic threads. They regarded him like a dirty hobo. The only thing he could do as smile, tip his hat, and proceed. "What's there to explain?" Hachi said, his voice a whisper of indifference. "People come and go. I imagined you to be one of those. I've remained at my tea shop."Was it a little callous towards Kavra? A bit. The demon had seen Hachi's true suffering, had witnessed the makaioshin possess him in a little... exercise they had. Since that encounter, Hachi had drifted further and further into isolation. Hikari still frequented his shop for food and l feeding. The feline woman was the closest thing to a friend he had. That arrangement also came with some added... benefits of the flesh at times. Hachi never turned those down. Well, there was Lute and his demon concubine Kuueru. Those two were business associates, as least that's how Hachi looked at the relationship. Lute wanted what he wanted, brutal and without remorse. He strove for his violent end of all things, the slaying of the gods. Hachi respected the vision, the gods were assholes. That much he had witnessed over his centuries of life. But, they were also gods for a reason. It would take a lot for an upstart Namekian with a bad attitude to reach that level. No doubt, he would die long before reaching them on some forlorn battlefield. However, if Lute could use his brutish strength to free Hachi of his chains, that was an added benefit. Oh how sweet, sweet death would be. Hachi turned the corner into an derelict alley with a dumpster. Stepping behind wretched heap, he traced the tip of his can on the brick wall and a swirling portal appeared. He passed through, whisking him away--back to Tranquility. It was a shortcut, one he had left ages ago. "I'm going put some tea on," Hachi said as he got out his kettle, filling it in the sink behind the counter. The shop was closed at this hour, the lights dim. The blue flame of the burners flickered on with a thought and he placed the kettle in place to start the boil. Reaching to the shelves filled with saucers and cups, he took down two of his finest pieces and set them on the counter. Each one was white porcelain with intricate sapphire swirling patterns. They were ancient too, and very expensive. They had been apart of a large set, from one of the ruling families of East City long before it was called as such, back when Earth had separate nations that warred with each other for resources. Such a barbaric age. Reminded him of the galaxy at large. Maybe it too one day would advanced to a harmonious point. "You should come down and talk. This crystal ball thing is so tedious."The next step was the prepare the tea. Hachi held out his index finger, moving along his shelf. He had all sorts of strains of the dried leaves in tiny mason jars. Each was was labeled. The one he took down was called Sorry Gray. The name was appropriate to the situation as well. It was a fine tea, slightly bitter with a refreshingly sweet aftertaste. Hachi loved to pair it with a spring of mint, rather than lemon. Just made it all the more soul cleansing. The aroma was beautiful. Hachi savored it, closing his eyes as he waited. But, he would't let it get cold waiting for Kavra. Such a notion would be a complete waste. So, poured himself a cup and took it to a chair beside the window of his shop, overlooking the street. There he drank, watching the autumn leaves drift down the street. The people shuffle along in the transient moments in their lives. So quaint. So boring.
