Planet: Earth
Location: Somewhere in the mountains beyond North City.
The day had come.
Kaijin's eyes slowly opened as energy was flooded through his systems, his stasis chamber suddenly flooding with light in accordance with the Android's reactivation. Reactivation for a new day....but perhaps the final day. For today wasn't simply a normal/not so normal day for the dark skinned Android. Today was the final efficiency test. The final test for competency to determine if he was truly meant to be released upon the world in representation of Dr. Janus....or rather, Mother.
As the stasis chamber lifted, Kaijin stepped out, and looked around. Despite being completely artificial, Kaijin was built to have a personality and what could nearly be called a mind of his own. As such, his displays and mannerisms could easily be considered identical to that of a male human boy....and sometimes one could tell. As Kaijin looked around, a mischievous smile played upon the teenage boy's features, and he turned gradually to his left, and saw the one who activated his stasis chamber, and reactivated the boy.
"Oh.....it's you. Good morning, Scar...." Kaijin groaned out, rolling his eyes as if annoyed at the appearance of the male.
Scar was the name of some battle hardened military veteran turned martial artist who had managed to muscle his way into a scientific operation because he was deadly and efficient, which made him the perfect trainer. And luckily, he was inexpensive as a mercenary....God knows why. It didn't take long for Kaijin and Scar to hate each other, for the latter's overly serious and businesslike manner didn't mesh well with the happy go-lucky, carefree attitude that Kaijin made it his business to keep. Despite the personality clashes, it was evident that Scar was an effective trainer, for in the span of three years, Kaijin had managed to become every bit the fighter that Scar was....much to Scar's denial to admit such, even if what Scar was training had the potential to outshine the military vet in every way possible...with just a little more of a push.
The nickname "Scar" didn't just show up because an ex-military martial artist needed an edgy name in order to keep up appearances and pretend he wasn't nearing his sixties. The man's body had more criss crossed lines then a chessboard, some scars old clean cuts straight across, others were jagged edges, and others just straight up irregular angles that make you wonder how such a wound ever occurred in the first place. Scar let out a quiet sigh and turned on his heel and began to walk away from Kaijin, a single hand rising to motion for the Android to follow. From this, a single sentence was spoken, the man's gruff voice about as harsh as the scars that adorned his body.
"Come, boy."
Kaijin rolled his eyes once more, before moving forward, trying to keep up with the tall vet. Scar's long strides made it difficult for a damn giraffe to keep up. Normally, Kaijin would plague the man with a hundred questions or about a dozen snarky comments as they made their way down the dark hallway, but today Kaijin was silent, a feeling of anxiety gnawing away at what could loosely be determined as his stomach. He had no idea what test he had to pass in order to achieve "perfection", but he didn't want to fail. He knew about the other models, the androids that had come before him. Some were cast aside early due to very noticeable flaws, but others went through the training just as he had, but the training was as much a screening process as it was a conditioning process to train an android. Many models had had their deep rooted weaknesses and their flaws become only apparent throughout the course of the conditioning, and had been scrapped just as quickly. Luckily, Kaijin had not displayed any hint of a flaw or anomaly. But the day of the final test would not be a good time to start giving reasons for him to be scrapped.
Nonetheless, they had reached the end of the hallway, the main doors opening up to reveal a grand training hall, stretching out over a great distance in the underground cavern. In the center of the training hall stood Dr. Evelyn Janus, her long black hair extending well past the lower back, her pristine white lab coat a beacon of light within the low artificial lighting of the hall. As she stepped forward to meet them, her heels clicked against the hard floor. As if by reflex (or by programming) Kaijin gulped slightly upon her approach and bowed his head. His next words flowed right off the tip of the tongue, as if pre-prepared. His voice was rather dull, lacking its' usual enthusiasm.
"Good morning, Mother. How are you today?"
Dr. Janus smiled kindly, as if immensely pleased that her programmed greeting was still in effect, even if there was little heart behind the words. Her left hand reached out and gently stroked his cheek in affection, the smile still on her lips, her glasses moving ever so slightly as the smile displaced them slightly. As she opened her mouth to speak, her voice came out soft and melodic
"My son, oh how I have waited for this moment. My dear, today you will begin your final test...which will prove if you really are the one. Are you ready?"
Kaijin felt himself nodding automatically, a response he would have done anyway. Questions like that only held one answer. There was no saying no to Dr. Janus. If you weren't ready....you had to change that quickly, for she was not one to wait until you were. Even if Kaijin wasn't fully aware of it himself, Dr. Janus's words may have been sweet, but there was no true emotion behind them, no true affection, or any true care for her creation. To her, Kaijin was no more than a means to an end. A means in which to make money, to rake in profit. And if today was the day that Kaijin showed any flaws that would dry up that well of profit...then he would no longer be her son, and her role as "Mother" will very quickly shift to "Executioner", even if the difference was very minimal to begin with. Looking to Scar, Dr. Janus spoke, her words crisp and commanding, the affection she displayed to Kaijin obviously not shared with the gruff old man.
"Prepare Test Number One."
Scar nodded and began to walk towards one end of the hall. Despite being underground, the facility was by no means low budget or threatening to collapse. By the time Dr. Janus's illegal activity was discovered by the government, Dr. Janus and her team had already made their pockets quite full with zeni, the likes of which went towards building this facility. If one didn't already know the facility was underground, they wouldn't be able to tell. The training hall was vast, tiled and high tech, showing very little indication of rock or any other earth. This project was the final investment of Dr. Janus's career. She knew that if it didn't work, there was nothing to fall back on. There was no Plan B. It was either succeed here, or just die a failure. As Scar moved to work on the terminal in the left hand corner of the room, Dr. Janus exited the training hall, taking her place with her trusted circle of scientist in a viewing room located at the top balcony of the hall, the balcony closed off by high resistant glass, geared to take even the most intensive of blast pressures without shattering. Prepping her clipboard, she prepared to take notes....to observe her creation.
A low hiss erupted from the stasis chamber next to Scar as he finished punching in commands, the stasis door opening to allow whatever was inside to escape. Kaijin slowly slid off his shirt, revealing a rather athletic, well toned body, his muscles rather evident (which was obviously a cosmetic design, given Kaijin's lack of muscles, blood, bone etc.). Moving slowly into a fighting stance, Kaijin mentally prepared himself for what was to come.
From the stasis chamber came a short, slim light skinned male Android. His blond hair extended past his shoulders, the top of his head wrapped in a bandanna. He was short, slightly shorter than Kaijin himself (who was rather average height on his own), and wore black jeans, with a light blue T-shirt and matching fingerless gloves. As he flexed slightly, the Android looked to Scar, and grunted.
"So, old man. You finally realized I was perfect, huh? That I'm the best one, huh?" The blond Android spoke towards the gruff trainer, playfully punching him on the arm.
Before Scar could answer, which would've most likely have been a judo flip for daring to touch the man unsanctioned, Dr. Janus's voice came over a nearby loudspeaker, her natural charm returning as she explained the challenge.
"Welcome to your first challenge! It's wonderful to see you again, Feng. Or rather....Android #32." Dr. Janus took a small dramatic pause before continuing," You two will fight each other. Every aspect of battle will be monitored by Scar and myself and evaluated. The winner....will find themselves advancing. Feng, if you prove victorious...kill Kaijin. Only then, will I reconsider you as the successor."
"Bet? Alright! This'll be a quick one." Feng said, a wicked smile crossing his features as he looked to Kaijin. Extending two fingers, he spoke, his tone deadly this time," In fact....it's already over." As he spoke, he suddenly (and quickly) charged Ki between his two fingers before releasing it in a deadly release of energy in the form of a bright yellow Ki beam, racing straight for Kaijin.
Damn.
Kaijin could only hastily throw up his arms in defense as the blast smashed into his guard, throwing him off his feet and sending him spiraling. As he was thrown back, Kaijin quickly dug his hands into the ground to slow his movement, but Feng was already hot in pursuit, racing towards him in an attempt to full on body slam into him. Bursting off his feet, Kaijin shot forward to meet Feng, crashing together in a short exchange of blows, before Kaijin raised his right knee upwards to connect with Feng's chin, the blow forcing Feng's head to snap back. Kaijin combined such a blow with a forward kick to the stomach, sending Feng crashing back.
Feng reared back, the unexpected kick launching him back several meters, crashing full force onto his back. Kaijin took the moment to throw his right arm back, charging a large ball of Ki in his right hand, as if preparing to throw it towards Feng, but the blond Android jumped back up, racing forward, his body a blur of colors, before the enemy android grabbed Kaijin's arm, gripping it hard, as if to disrupt the technique from being completed...and he was successful in doing so. As he gripped his arm, Feng leaned in close, a wicked smile on his face, and began to speak to Kaijin in a hushed tone
"Hey...hey puppet. You're nothing compared to me, ya hear? Mindless lapdogs....they don't compare to true superiority...true perfection.....true freedom! I'm gonna be free. I'm not a servant to a crazy woman. Keep serving her....and you'll be tossed to the side once she's done with you. I'mma kill you, and then her. So get the hell out of my way!"
With that, Feng proceeded to twist his body around, grappling Kaijin with his other arm, and swinging Kaijin by the arm in a circle before tossing him up into the air, the dark skinned android's body flailing and spiraling out of control. Feng would then burst forward, once again utilizing Rapid Movement to speed forward, appearing as if by teleport besides Kaijin and executing a Double Axe Handle, cupping his hands together and slamming his fists into Kaijin's gut, sending him hurtling into the ground.
From the viewing room, Scar watched with a disapproving glare as Feng clearly had the upper hand, and had been dominating Kaijin throughout the battle. Looking to Dr. Janus, he decided to voice his thoughts
"Feng is obviously the better fighter. His battle instincts and application of techniques is near flawless, and his speed is superior. He will crush Kaijin Vex."
Dr. Janus licked her lips, her brow furrowed with concentration. It was near impossible to tell what she was really thinking, but one could only speculate. However, a moment later, she gave voice what could be her thoughts
"Feng is too independent. Too free spirited. I could never control him....but he was the best android I've ever created. Even better then Kaijin. He would've been the one if....if I could control him."
Back on the floor, Kaijin found himself struggling against Feng's relentless barrage, his savage offensive proving rather difficult to counter, or even find an opening. Of course, neither android could feel true pain, or fatigue, but damage was damage. If Kaijin found himself in a position where he was critically damaged, he would not be able to operate at his maximum potential, which would, without a doubt, lead to his downfall. But where Feng had strength, Kaijin had patience. As he moved back into a defensive stance, Feng launched himself forward, rearing back his fist for another frontal barrage of punches, before he suddenly vanished, using Rapid Movement as a feint of sorts, veering sharply to the right before releasing another finger beam at Kaijin, the powerful and sharp yellow beam of Ki heading straight for Kaijin...but this time, he was ready. Placing his hand close to his chest, open palm out to Feng, Kaijin suddenly flew backwards as the impact of the Ki beam smashed into his form, knocking him clear onto his back. At first glance, it would look as if the Ki beam had torn through Kaijin's body....but that was not quite the case. Feng would not take the chance to determine, as he would immediately follow up with a barrage of Ki spheres, forming them almost as rapidly as he was throwing them, bombarding the fallen Android with energy spheres. Unbeknownst to Feng, Kaijin would wait until the light emanating from the spheres was close enough to conceal his form from view, before he would jump up and thrust his arms out, for the first time revealing the red orbs that were imbedded into his palms. Upon making contact with the energy spheres, they, like the Ki Beam Feng also assaulted Kaijin with, would begin to be sucked into the orbs, converting the violent energy into usable energy to fuel Kaijin's form. Nonetheless, Kaijin couldn't absorb everything before the spheres burst, unleashing the rest of their energy into Kaijin, knocking him back onto his back.
Feng smirked from his vantage point, by this point having settled for hovering in midair over his opponent. As he looked onwards at the clearing smoke, he couldn't help but feel intense satisfaction at having dominated his opponent so.
And then the tables turned.
In a blur of movement, Kaijin appeared behind Feng, suddenly performing his own Rapid Movement to vault behind the man. Feng, his reflexes razor sharp, turned and raised his knee just in time to connect with Kaijin's fist, intercepting the darker skinned android's attack, however Kaijin immediately followed up with a Ki blast, extending his left hand and releasing a powerful wave of energy at the blond haired Android point blank, sending him flying back. Kaijin smiled, the mischievous grin playing on his features again as he spoke, taking his own time to taunt his foe
"That was fun! Let's do that again!"
"Shut up, puppet!" Feng shot back, followed by another wild rush at his opponent, attempting to execute a flying kick aimed to connect directly with Kaijin's face. Perfectly analyzing Feng's movement speed and perfectly timing the counter, Kaijin vaulted to the left, before grabbing Feng's leg out of midair and rearing it back, sending Feng flopping upwards, before moving to slam his hand down to the ground, causing Feng to follow, slamming into the ground with devastating force, causing the blond android to gasp in surprise. However, Feng was not one to give up as of yet, immediately lashing out as if to trip Kaijin by executing a leg sweep, which did catch Kaijin off guard, causing him to fall on his back. In an attempt to finish it, Feng immediately began to charge a ferocious looking yellow sphere of energy, before Kaijin suddenly leapt forward, slamming his fist into Feng's face and causing him to rear back, disoriented. As Kaijin bounded forward, he began to speak whilst pounding on Feng in a fast paced rush
"I'm no one's puppet. I'm free...just like you. Just watch. But I AM making it out of here!"
In a fit of rage, Feng intercepted one of Kaijin's punches, pushing it off course before forcing himself forward, slamming his forehead against Kaijin's in a vicious headbutt, before executing another Ki blast, blasting Kaijin backwards. However, when he was about to move to finish Kaijin, the dark skinned android rushed forward, executing a vicious uppercut followed by an equally swift Double Axe Handle, cupping his hands together and slamming them down on Feng's head, knocking him down to the ground. Kaijin then took to the air, shooting straight up to increase distance between him and his opponent. He then clapped his hands together and began charging Ki. His body showed no energy output as he charged up his energy reserves, but it showed with the sudden appearance of red electricity forming between his fingers as he slowly separated his hands from each other. By this point, Feng had moved to his feet and was rushing to meet Kaijin. The electric bonds then rapidly coalesced into a small, unstable sphere of red energy, the electricity orbiting the sphere. And then...right when Feng drew close enough to launch another attack, Kaijin released the energy sphere, all the while yelling
"Furious Glare!"
The small unstable sphere of red energy then morphed into a much larger (although still unstable) ball of red electrified energy. Feng, surprised by the massive power output, threw out his hands as if to catch and deflect the attack, but the electricity immediately lashed out, clinging to his form and frying his systems. The output of energy, a combination of his own Ki with the stolen Ki from the absorbed techniques, proved to be more then Feng could handle, the sphere of energy then exploding since Feng could not hold it stable for more than a few seconds, exposing Feng to pure, offensive energy.
A blood curdling scream erupted throughout the training hall as Feng spent his final moments venting pure hate through his scream, and then the explosion cut out all sounds, the red electricity lashing out, as if to claim other opponents. However, the explosion soon subsided, and there stood Kaijin Vex, the victor of the duel, the efforts of battle clearly shown on his face due to his scorched body and ripped remainder of clothing. Silently, he looked to Dr. Janus and Scar. Dr. Janus's face was unreadable for a few moments...and then she put on her charming showcase smile and stepped to the microphone, speaking over the loudspeaker to Kaijin
"Android #42 has passed the first trial, and has now been cleared for field work! The second trial will occur in a few weeks time...to test progress. Maintenance Team, retrieve Mr. Kaijin Vex and subject him to repairs upon his frame, I want him in optimal condition before the next meeting."
He had done it! Kaijin smiled, proud of his own triumph over Feng. But at the same time, the kill didn't quite seem right, not like the others he had done in previous bouts to prove his worth. Feng seemed...on to something. He called Dr. Janus a witch, and him her puppet. He pointed out that the woman would only use him until he could no longer, then cast him out. Perhaps....or perhaps not there was truth to that. Nonetheless, the Android boy wouldn't have time to figure it out before he was manhandled by the maintenance team, and practically hauled away from the training hall to subject him to repairs upon his body, to mend the damage sustained during the fight.
As Kaijin slipped away from the training hall, Dr. Janus looked back to one of her aides, and commanded, her voice cold and calculating
"Fuse Kaijin's chip with Feng's. Retrieve it from Feng's body....but give it to me first. I must make sure to modify it so that nothing from Feng's personality.....carries over. Android #32 was imperfect, but his battle instincts would prove only beneficial, and will only increase Kaijin's power. Go, do it now."
As the aide rushed off, Dr. Janus took one more look at Kaijin as he passed through the doors to lead out
"He's weak." Scar said bluntly
"I know. But he needs to adapt...and I feel menial tasks like this will only slow his progress to a halt." Janus responded simply
"The real world will destroy him before he even has the chance...." Scar bit back
"Not him....not my child. In fact...Kaijin Vex, under my command, will be the one to destroy the real world, in turn. It will just take time. Don't worry....he is mine. At the end of the day, he will always be mine."
And with that, Dr. Evelyn Janus turned on her heel and left the viewing room. It was time.....time to unleash her beast upon this world. Time for her child to learn real power.
It was time for the world to meet Kaijin Vex.
