It had been a lucky break. Information recovered from Yggdrasil had allowed the Valkyries to find some back doors into the communications of the Galactic Empire. Their presence was found out soon enough, but before their access was cut, they were unable to uncover some very interesting bits of information. One such piece of information was that the Emperor had had his scientists perform research on a new ship, with an experimental engine that would make his fleet the fastest in the galaxy. The other was the location of a powerful battle suit constructed by the Tuffles eons ago. It was still bleeding edge today. Atreus was immersed in that suit right now. It completely concealed his features, and Atreus' artificial intelligence, Friday, had seamlessly integrated with the battle suit to provide Atreus an incredibly advanced heads up display. The suit came complete with energy weapons and energy wings; he was able to fly using the power of the suit, not his own ki, which made him harder to detect. And, thankfully, it protected him from the vacuum of space. Atreus used the Heuristically Engineered Intelligent Mechanized Logarithm and Lattice suit to drift over to the Emperor's experimental warship. Using Friday to create specialized nanites, he directed them to form a barrier around Atreus and the hull in front of him. Friday pressurized the barrier, sealing it, and Atreus swiftly cut a hole in the ship. He entered into an empty maintenance hallway. Friday's nanites manipulated the discarded piece of hull, putting it back into place and sealing it, welding the part back into place with miniature lasers. The nanites then disintegrated into nothing, their purpose fulfilled. Atreus crept throughout the ship, using Friday to guide him to the core. He disengaged his energy wings; though they were amazing, they were also fairly obvious, and would give him away. As he moved, he placed tiny, powerful explosives that were keyed to Friday on structurally important pieces of the ship. If they were blown all at once, the ship would swiftly tear itself apart. Atreus... no, Heimdall, now... made his way to the engines, not knowing what would await him there.

Emperor of the Galaxy Jump Drives. A theorized, though never fully explored, advanced alternative to the methods of faster than light travel used by the inhabitants of the Galaxy today. The theory behind it all stems from a skill used by many martial artists of all species across centuries - Instant Transmission. Yardrats and ki users who learned this skill from them were able to access a dimension different from hyperspace, the so-called "Teleportation Zone", where time doesn't pass and moving even a little bit can cause you to be located many kilometers away. In practice, it results in the ever so familiar appearance of teleportation. Instant movement. It had already been scientifically proven that machines, such as androids, with artificial ki are able to replicate the techniques used by live martial artists without additional drawbacks. There is no reason for Instant Transmission to be any different - and if an android can use this technique, surely, a spaceship with an artificial ki generator installed would be able to replicate the same effect? That's what a Jump Drive would be. Imagine, a fleet of teleporting battleships. All that would be needed for them to navigate is a network of similar artificial ki generators as "ki signatures" for the battleships to lock onto. Not only would this give the developers of such a technology an unprecedented advantage in military logistics, able to get supplies and soldiers wherever they are needed in an instant, but it would also be an unbeatable advantage on the battlefield. Jump Drive vessels could freely teleport around the battlefield at will, reinforce needed areas of the front, move from one flank to the other or to the heat of battle before the enemy has a chance to blink, or just create easy encirclements by teleporting behind the opposing fleet. It would revolutionize warfare, and the Galactic Empire chose to champion that revolution. Under the Emperor's orders, Jump Drive technology is far too vital to the interests of the Galactic Empire to be developed on Mitra or Abbayor. As such, the research team of about 150 assorted scientists of various species boarded a spaceship procured by Polaris and took to interstellar space, far from the prying eyes of any other faction, where they could work in peace. To make sure that no space pirate or foreign agent dares to infiltrate the spaceship, the Emperor himself boarded the vessel, overseeing the research operation and serving as security at the same time. Unfortunately, as it turns out, even these precautions were not enough to deter intruders from breaking in. As Polaris stood on the bridge, hands placed behind his back and eyes staring into the endless pitch black darkness, one of the Ultramarines operating the vessel, more specifically, reviewing the security cameras, suddenly stepped back and turned his head towards his Emperor, speaking: "Your Majesty, you may want to look at this." Polaris raised his eyebrow and walked up to the array of screens, and the Ultramarine scrolled back the footage on a few of the recordings. A mysterious man in black and blue armor was speeding through the corridors of the spaceship, neither a scientist nor an Ultramarine, and he was making his was towards the engine department, quickly. There was only one explanation for this, it was an intruder. Ordered by who? The uniform did not look Saiyan, Earthling or Frieza Force. If there was any insignia on it, it was hard to notice. But it may as well be the local milkman as far as Polaris is concerned, he was in an experimental research vessel and that was grounds for execution. "I'm raising the alarm-" a nearby Ultramarine spoke, about to press a large red button on the side of the wall, but the Emperor's hand motion stopped him. "This is a single person, in advanced battle armor, infiltrating the ship and heading straight to the engine room, which can only mean that he is confident enough in his strength to take on this entire ship all by himself. Raising the alarm will only push him to extreme measures, for example, destroying the spaceship entirely." Polaris turned away from the security footage, instead moving his focus towards the rest of the soldiers on the ship's bridge. "Inform the scientists in the engine room via radio message. Spread out across the ship and slow down his advance. I'm going to confront this madman myself." It's been a while since Polaris has stepped in to get his hands dirty. The last time was what, Commander Taro back in the Battle of the Queen's Haven? The Emperor had been training a lot since then, and the strain of that training was still permeating through his body - but even if he might not show his full combat capacity today, there is no reason why he wouldn't be able to defeat this armored man all by himself. As he ran through room after room, aiming to reach the engine room before the intruder did, Polaris found a way to try to slow his soon-to-be opponent down. That is, through a telepathic message: " If you value your life even a tiny bit, I'd advise you to turn around and leave the same way you arrived." Make them think. (869 words) Defensive Phase

This, as it turned out, had not been a lucky break. Atreus had, in a stunning moment of sheer stupidity, apparently forgotten to engage his battle suit's electronic stealth suite. It had the ability to mask the suit's presence from cameras and other types of electronic surveillance, but he was such a novice in the suit's operation, that he had simply neglected to activate them. And now, the voice of the Emperor, the greatest tyrant in the known universe, was in his head. Atreus cursed silently, but he was in the thick of it now. He may as well barrel forward, as he always had. Leave? As if the Butcher of Planet Pepper would ever let an enemy simply leave. No, tyrant. I will not let this prize be yours. I know the terror you could unleash with it.
But I will give you a chance.
I could blow this ship to kingdom come right now, but unlike you, I don't kill indiscriminately. If you order a ship wide evacuation, I will wait in the engine room for you. I won't damage anything. You will have a chance to fight me, one on one, and stop me, and save your ship. But if you don't to that in the next thirty seconds... I'm going to start detonating explosives.
The choice is yours.By that point, Atreus had reached the engine room. It was massive, and the experimental engine core sat in the center of the room, humming with power. And Atreus stood there, waiting. He was counting down the seconds in his head, but he was not idle. He unleashed his ki, erupting into his God Speed transformation. As he did so, he felt... that there was something more. An even deeper well of power, just out of reach. Even his suit's advanced abilities couldn't keep his current swell of power hidden, as his power level skyrocketed to over a million. Every ki sensitive on the ship would know where he was now. He couldn't focus on that now. He extended his energy sword, readying it. While Atreus had time, he had Friday reinforce the structural integrity of his armor and ensured that her combat systems were ready to go. Now, Atreus could only wait.

Emperor of the Galaxy This mystery intruder was not spineless, it seems. Immediately after Polaris's mental ultimatum, the man responded with an ultimatum of his own - either the Emperor evacuates this entire ship and lets them battle one on one for the fate of the Jump Drive in the engine room, without anyone interfering, or, if Polaris does not follow his wishes, this ship can say goodbye. Clever little rat. Thinking he can put Polaris in such a gambit where he has no option but to fight him alone. That gambit was simple, but worked just fine, and the Frost Demon could applaud this mystery for it - of course, whether it was worth it to challenge the Emperor himself to a one on one bout is a different story entirely. Polaris decided to be this man's fairy god mother and fulfill his suicide wish regardless, however - after closing the psionic link with the intruder, he opened an another one with the ship's staff, speaking: " Change of plans, ladies and gentlemen. I want you all to retreat to the ship's emergency escape shuttles. Don't leave yet, though - create the illusion of departure and await further orders." As for the intruder himself... --- The dark, empty and sprawling engine room, evacuated of the last of its workers mere seconds before Heimdall stepped into it and began to wait, suddenly went dark, all the buzzing machinery, lighting and even the main engine suddenly turning off in the span of a few seconds. A figure immersed stepped forward from one of the many steel bridges leading to the experimental reactor, dropping the mask of the shade as it did so and revealing its face. A completely suppressed power level burst to life in a millisecond, almost equaling that of the armored Earthling. As he walked towards Heimdall, slowly, with a slight frown on his face hiding imperceptible fury, Polaris grabbed onto the handle of the Sword of Greenskull, hanging on his back, pulling the weapon out. The power of the legendary ancient blade seeped into the Frost Demon's body - it wasn't exactly the Mighty Fro-Man transformation, all it gave off was a thin blue aura, but it was enough. After all, with so many brittle, experimental and expensive objects around them, he could not afford to go straight into his Fifth Form, which he still struggled to control, so this was the next best bet. "The suicide rate of my Empire is currently clocking in at 11.9 per one hundred thousand inhabitants." the Frost Demon muttered, eyes locked onto Heimdall. "And you've chosen to become a part of that statistic." There's no more time to waste. Polaris was confident in his chances... but he could also tell that this was not someone you can just mess around. The only two reasons why this armored warrior would ever wish to challenge the Emperor to a one on one duel was either being actually suicidal or believing to be strong enough to succeed. And it's always good to assume the worst. The Frost Demon suddenly lunged at Heimdall, swinging the Sword of Greenskull forward and then continuing with a barrage of slashes and cuts with the mighty weapon. While this was happening, energy blasts suddenly burst and opened fire from around the room - not from blasters or third parties, however. Those were hovering spheres of ki set up by the Emperor at the last seconds to serve as energy sentries and turn the battlefield into a yet another advantage of his. (534 words) Defensive Phase

Atreus had known that the Emperor would show no hesitation. He was not disappointed, as an energy sentry struck Atreus too quickly even for the lightning fast Earthling to dodge. Still, that was not what concerned Atreus the most... not by a long shot. The Emperor used his strange weapon to send out a truly ludicrous amount of ki Atreus' way. in the form of slashes. Luckily, this was far more contained than Atreus had seen Polaris act in the past; he must have been concerned about the integrity of his experimental vessel to keep his wrath so contained. Atreus came forward, utilizing his own energy sword to meet the slashes of Emperor Polaris. Atreus was shocked; he hadn't realized that the ruler of the Empire had grown so strong. His transformation seemed even mightier than Atreus' own. Still, Atreus was able to parry each of Polaris' strikes, miniature sonic booms causing the machinery to shake each time their blades met. Atreus spoke, his voice distorted through the speakers of his helmet to sound deeper and different from his normal tones. "It might seem suicidal, but if we must brave death to face tyranny, than that is what must me done, or else we are all complicit in enabling dictators. You can expect to see more of me, Polaris... you can call me Heimdall, and wherever you turn, wherever you try to expand your Empire... I will be there to stop you."As they came forward and clashed once more, Friday formed a turret using the armor that sprayed Polaris with a couple of bullets at point blank range. Atreus followed up by quickly charging his sword up with his own energy, slashing quickly at the Emperor in an attempt to bring him down... before he brought Atreus down.

Emperor of the Galaxy Polaris's sudden combination of energy sentry barrages and a flurry of slashes with the Sword of Greenskull was met by an unwavering defense. Whoever this 'Heimdall' was, they certainly weren't a newcomer to martial arts - using refined reflexes, finesse and plenty of luck to block, dodge and deflect all of the attacks heading their way, and responded with a barrage of their own. A sudden barrage from bullet turrets at point blank range, followed by a sudden energy blade slash which caught the Emperor off-guard and struck his chestplate, blowing him away and leaving a slight singe on his bio-suit. Polaris stopped with a harsh slide across the steel floor of the bridge, taking a few seconds to catch his breath and search for an opening, to try to make a second offensive. How did he not block that sword slash, when it was so simple?.. Maybe he needs a lot more experience in close quarters combat, then. "You'll be there wherever I turn? Wherever I expand my Empire? You and what army?" the Emperor replied to Heimdall's comment, snickering. "This isn't a universe where a single man in a suit can play hero and destroy entire nations with just their guts and divine intervention. I've seen way too many of such 'heroes' believe otherwise." "Or would you like to prove me wrong? Whose orders are you following?" Polaris didn't bother to wait for an answer, however - this was a perfect opening for a counter-attack. The energy sentries stationed across the room opened fire yet again, and the Frost Demon lunged toward, aiming to strike at Heimdall with a series of powerful blows with the Sword of Greenskull. Chip away that defense of his, get him exhausted. He should be nothing without his suit. (294 words) Defensive Phase

"Orders? What, you think I need someone to tell me what is right and what is wrong?"Polaris' Energy Turret was somewhat troublesome, but the damage it was dealing was relatively minor; Atreus simply dealt with it, using his armor to take the brunt of it. "No, I am here on my own. But I wouldn't worry; you'll come to know me and my allies very well. We call ourselves the Valkyries."Polaris slashed with alarming alacrity once more; as always, Atreus was impressed by the sheer power of the Frost Demon's attacks... and was rather glad that he had decided to take the precaution of masking his identity. He knew how ruthless Polaris was, and he did not doubt for a second that the Earth would be in danger if Polaris ever connected the dots. "We know what really happened on Planet Pepper. Hero of the Galaxy? Don't make me laugh. There's an entire army of former Galactic Patrol members ready to show the Galaxy who you really are. They're our Einherjar, now, and you'll never be able to stop us."As Atreus spoke, he parried and ducked Polaris' attacks. Such a barrage could not last forever; Atreus used his quick reflexes to avoid all but Polaris' energy sentry, then offered his own riposte, two slashes aiming for Polaris' joints in an attempt to wound him and hamper his movements. As he fought, Friday spoke to him. "Chakra gates pooling energy... approaching critical mass... suggest release of energy."Atreus thought he had worked out how... but it wasn't time. Not just yet... mainly because if he got it wrong, trying that particular stunt might just kill him.

Emperor of the Galaxy Heimdall's new batch of retorts was, to put it frankly, putting Polaris on the verge of laughing, although he did his best to not show it and only let out a grin. This man was tapping every single beat of a generic hero facing off against who he believes to be the villain of the week. Let's see. Speaking about what is right or wrong, check.
Calling out to his friends, check.
'Don't make me laugh', check.
Declaring that the person leagues above him in strength and stature will never be able to stop him and his friends - check and check. Why was this so funny to him? Well, it was because Polaris had himself immersed deep in similar rhetoric for years before becoming the Emperor of the Galaxy. The people of the Galactic Patrol loved his generic good boy personality and he gave the public exactly that. So now ending up on the other side of the iron curtain, seeing such a hero stand before him, decry him as a villain who has no chance against the power of heroism, was ironic. Nostalgic. Funny. As Polaris moved the blade of the Sword of Greenskull from joint to joint to deflect all of Heimdall's incoming strikes, moving with refined reflexes just as expected from a fighter of this caliber, the Frost Demon's face contorted to a smirk. Even if none of his opponent's hit landed, they were still pushing him back, even if bit by bit - and this push was finalized by Polaris suddenly sliding back, stopping a few meters away from Heimdall and thus getting out of close combat range. There was a lot of information to unpack. "So your allegiance is with Gadon's rebellion, then. Honestly, I'm a little disappointed. Here I thought you serve the Dominion, the Crusher Corps... or anything that isn't a doomed cause." Polaris's eyes remained locked with the armored warrior's head visor, where he assumed the armor wielder's eyes are supposed to be. Why not engage in a little bit of psychological warfare? It's fun, and it gives him an opportunity to recover a little bit of stamina before the next batch of attacks. "What will that army of yours reveal to the Galaxy about me, hmm? I could genocide an entire species and the stability of my empire wouldn't budge an inch. My soldiers are instilled with perfect loyalty and my citizens know only what I want them to know. Your little underground radio stations are either jammed or hunted without remorse. Your 'army' is stuck in Earthling territory and resembles more of a refugee horde than an organized force. So what's this panacea to all your troubles and problems that you are hiding from me?" That second to last comment was actually something to think about. Who was Heimdall? He couldn't be any of the Galactic Patrolmen who broke with the regime and fled to Pepper. The only three Patrolmen Polaris knew who could be strong enough didn't qualify to be the ones wearing this suit. Gadon was dead. Murowski was a hands-off fighter and was not the type to challenge the Emperor all by herself. Audrey was female while this suit's wielder was clearly male, and she wasn't the type to fight with a sword either. Hold on. There were Earthlings supporting Gadon's insurgents during the Battle of Planet Pepper, right? Polaris could tell that from the footage of the battle he received. And this person was clearly a veteran of that battle, yet not a member of the Patrol insurgents... But were there any Earthlings so powerful that they could try to challenge the Emperor himself? He'll have to investigate. "At this point, there is no force in the Galaxy which can challenge the First Galactic Empire. The Dominion is faltering under the combined Imperial and Kabochan advance. The Frieza Force has disbanded. The Crusher Corps has cooperated with the Empire time and time again, as early as the Battle of Planet Pepper, and they will always respect the highest bidder. Earth is trying to remain neutral in the conflict. Without anyone's support, your rebellion is nothing more than a stubborn holdout denying that the situation has developed against them. The best you and your lot can do is put down their weapons, surrender and hope for my mercy - because the other option is inevitable, pointless death." "Not for you, of course. An inevitable, pointless death is the only choice you have left. It's a shame, really - the Empire could have used the skills of someone like you." (761 words) Defensive Phase

Even Atreus, brave as he was, was hampered in his assault. Yes, he had done incredible things... but most of those had been in action against inherently evil beings. He had wrestled with demons and fought monsters, to be sure, but the evil that men and women across the galaxy engaged in, this evil they chose? It was daunting. Atreus was brave, yes. Powerful and skilled, to be sure... but he was also only twenty years old, and newly thrust into the world of galactic war and politics. So, though he was shamed to admit it... he was intimidated by Polaris. But that intimidation was not enough to stop him. Atreus did, however, allow himself a small smile inside that suit. There was no real point in revealing to Polaris that the suit had full audio and video recording capabilities... no, he would figure that out the hard way. The Emperor unleashed another attack, which Atreus handily dodged. The young man bolstered his flagging ki reserves before utilizing Friday and readying his energy sword for another couple of attacks. "What you say me be true. Right now, we're only an ember, but all it takes is a strong wind to make it a raging inferno! And rest assured, that inferno will be coming for you."Atreus was feeling himself begin to weaken. Polaris was strong... Atreus considered attempting his dangerous new transformation, but ultimately, didn't think that the power he would gain would make much difference. Not yet, anyway. Instead, he sliced out at Polaris twice, hoping to damage the Emperor enough to be able to finish him soon. LegumeBATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Emperor of the Galaxy Heimdall, unsurprisingly, did not waver yet again, managing to find enough fight in him to give back a retort before going on an offensive yet again. The retort was once again some heroic drivel which Polaris might be less frustrated by had he not repeated similar lines over and over during his tenure as a Galactic Patrolman himself. The incoming attacks, however, were nothing to scoff at. The Earthling, or at least Polaris presumed him to be so, was fighting with the same finesse and reflexes as always, avoiding all of Polaris's blows and blocks to slash across the Emperor's body several times. It wasn't enough to punch through his bio-armor, at least not yet, but it was some early warning signs that this battle might not be going the war Polaris would want it to go. "If we're talking about flames, embers, energy, then I advise you to look into your own suit." the Frost Demon muttered, deflecting the last of Heimdall's blows and going on an offensive himself, swinging the Sword of Greenskull forward and relentlessly attacking the armored Earthling. Polaris's power level was steadily rising and his ki reserves were recovering ever since the small break to have an intimidation match. "It's a fine piece of technology to be able to stand up against someone of my caliber. Probably eats its battery faster than a hungry Majin, too. And yet you've only put minor scratches on me so far - I wouldn't be so confident in your position right now." Get inside their head. Make them second-guess themselves. Get them to slip up. The three principles of psychological warfare. (271 words) Defensive Phase

"You think the suit is what makes me special?"Heimdall laughed, a deep bellowing laugh. He dropped his guard on purpose; though he could have moved to evade Polaris' strike, instead he allowed himself to be struck. The resulting blow was fierce; while it did not slice through the armor, it badly dented it on the left, bruising Atreus' ribs slightly. He didn't move... didn't so much as grunt. "How is the Emperor of the Galaxy such a fucking moron?"He grabbed the blade, and flung it away, moving forward with slow, confident steps. "The battery is running low? I am the battery! Don't let all the fun toys deceive you, Polaris... all this strength?
That's all me."In this, Polaris attempt at psychological warfare had not been successful; it only goaded Heimdall into another flurry of strikes. He used his ki to speed up his movement, and attacked with startling alacrity. Heimdall led with an overhand chop, Friday firing off a missile at Polaris to cover Heimdall's advance. He followed up with two quick slashes, then swiftly stabbed his sword into the ground, where it stuck out. Heimdall then fired a ki blast barrage at the Emperor, point blank, peppering him with shots before, in one smooth motion, grabbing the sword that he had stuck in the ground and slicing upward. Heimdall then dashed back, wary of his opponent and wanting to make sure he had time to react. "Oh, and spoiler alert, tyrant; right now, I'm holding back." LegumeBATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Emperor of the Galaxy Ohhh, Heimdall didn't like that, didn't like that at all. While previously the armored Earthling was somewhat composed, if a bit too stereotypically heroic, now he suddenly started swearing, cursing, decrying Polaris as a moron and a tyrant. This was followed by a professionally executed barrage of attacks, a combination of physical strikes and energy blasts. Bringing the deflected Sword of Greenskull back into his hand with his psychic powers, Polaris blocked and nullified as much of the damage as he could, but in the end, he still ended up being pushed back and left with a series of painful bruises and cuts across his skin. "Of course you're holding back, I'm at least sure of that," the Frost Demon muttered in response to Heimdall's boast. "If you weren't, I'd have thought you actually were suicidal." Still, this battle is not going the way he planned. It's turning into a war of attrition which Polaris was not trained for. And this suit most likely allows Heimdall to breathe in space, so simply destroying this ship, no matter how expensive it would be, is not an option... Using his psychic powers, Polaris reached out to the Ultramarines, scientists and ship staff gathered near the escape pods of the ship. " I want one or more of you to get back to the ship's bridge and send all of the information we have stored back to Mitra. Any blueprints, design details, and especially security camera footage. And quickly. I give you, at most, a few minutes." Half a dozen voices instantly responded to him, some shocked, others asking on his well being, some more saying that they'll do as requested. Polaris closed the telepathic link and moved his focus back to Heimdall, immediately lunging forward yet again to send a barrage of sword slashes the Earthling's way. (305 words) Defensive Phase

The Emperor made one mistake. He assumed his psychic communications could not be picked up on. If he had been speaking to one person, that probably would have been correct. However, the Emperor broadcast his thoughts to multiple beings, which made it easy for Atreus to pick up on it, especially considering their earlier psychic communication. "Foul play, Emperor. Which means it's game over. Do it, Frigg."Atreus called out Friday's code name, and his artificial intelligence obliged. Distant booms echoed throughout Polaris' vessel, the powerful explosives Atreus planted detonating. Immediately, blaring klaxons sounded throughout the ship. The techs work was now impossible... the ship was coming apart at the seams. "I told you; get everyone off of the ship. That was the deal. The explosives I've planted will be venting your ship to the vacuum of space. Your men will have no chance to get to the bridge before fundamental forces tear it apart. You've lost... your highness."Atreus ably dodged Polaris' stroke. He could have continued to pepper him with sword slashes, but he was done playing. Heimdall charged two ki blasts, each one capable of shattering worlds... then he teleported, burying both blasts into the back of Polaris before the Emperor had a chance to react, delivering massive damage.

Emperor of the Galaxy The dual energy blast released by Heimdall sent shockwaves across the entire spaceship. Windows shattered across the entire engine room, even the prototype in the center got blown back by the sheer pressure released, and a cloud of dust formed where Polaris once stood. For a few moments, it appeared as if victory had been assured. Suddenly, however, the explosions ringing across the spaceship came to a screeching halt, while a thick purple aura began to permeate across the walls and floor of the engine room, and soon, the entire spaceship. The cloud of dust dissipated, revealing a somewhat wounded, bleeding Polaris, his right hand still holding the Sword of Greenskull, and his left clenched, glowing brightly and stretched to the side. As it turns out, an energy shield had been placed upon the spaceship, keeping its structure stable for the time being - a duct tape solution to a spaceship exploding, but a solution nonetheless. "Fighting against villains who think that self-destruction is the way to go had been one of hobbies in the Galactic Patrol, you know." the Frost Demon muttered, using the blade of his sword to carefully remove a drop of blood running across his chin. I don't know how long this energy shield will last, and it's been a long time since I've tried to put one on something this big, but assuming that my soldiers are running towards the bridge like hell, as much as fifteen seconds might be enough.
Of course, this is assuming that this battle can last fifteen seconds. My left arm is now out of the fight and my energy reserves are depleting. And this son of an Arlian whore doesn't even know the meaning of the word 'exhaustion'. Or, I'm sure that's what he would tell me if I were to ask.Let's see, which attack would waste the most of Heimdall's time? Oh, I know. The blade of the Sword of Greenskull suddenly began to glow, taking on a thick purple aura, moments before Polaris suddenly swung it across the air, releasing a barrage of energy javelins aiming to impale the armored Earthling, or at least stick into his armor. Once again, Atreus proved too slippery for Polaris. He danced out of the way of Polaris' weapon, movements sped up by his ki. Atreus was only mildly surprised to see that Polaris had a contingency in place to temporarily hold his ship together. Plans within plans, and all that. Too bad for him, Atreus had those too. "Are you in, Frigg?" Heimdall asked out loud. "Yes. Enemy ship's computer network remotely accessed.""Then let's end this on both fronts. Wipe the data, now!"Frigg, the guise of Atreus' AI while they were operating, infected the ship's computer system with incredibly advanced viruses, and as she did so, wormed her way through their systems, deleting all data relevant to the creation of the experimental engine. At the same time, Frigg flooded Heimdall with ki-replenishing nanites, and Heimdall once more buried his sword in the ground. This time, instead of attacking with it, he clasped his hands together and concentrated. The engine room they were in shuddered as a strange force was exerted on it. Huge chunks of machinery began to fly free of their moorings, encasing the Emperor in vast sphere of ki infused material too powerful to break out of, at least for the moment. Not allowing himself to betray any weariness, Heimdall then sealed up his armor tightly before sending a ki blast through the energy shield that destroyed it, allowing the destruction of the ship to continue. Polaris would likely survive, though he would be tossed somewhere in space; the ball of material he was in was probably thick enough to survive the explosion. Surely, the two would meet again, some day. Atreus might have been able to kill him, but the contest had been too close for him to want to risk it. But one day, he knew, the two would meet again... and only one would be able to walk away.

He tried ramming it with his shoulder several times before that fact became clear and the Frost Demon let out a sigh. Might as well. It's not like there is much else left to save in this ship anyway. Polaris clenched his fists and let his all of his pent up aura burst to life, almost instantly transforming into his Fifth Form out of a mix of anger and frustration, vaporizing the barrier stacked up on him in the span of seconds. The fragile state of the spaceship received a yet another blow to its stability. " Alright, you Earthling cunt, time to send you back into the Valhalla you claim to be fro-" Heimdall was nowhere to be seen. Nothing but a disintegrating engine room in front of him. Explosions were bursting out of every crack of his energy shield, the experimental engine in the center was as good as dead, several holes were letting air out into the vacuum of interstellar space. Clever little asshole. The Frost Demon telepathically reached out to the few power levels he could still feel in what used to be the ship's bridge. The vessel looked like it was about to split in half any moment now, there was no time to spare. " How's the data retrieval going." " Not good, Your Majesty," one of the Ultramarines responded in a frantic and winded mental voice. " We sent as much as we could to Mitra, but something must have happened to the data, most of it is-" The telepathic transmission suddenly cut off, in tandem with an explosion ringing out somewhere in the depths of the ship. That's the end of that. That's the end of everything. Polaris let go of his energy shield, and a millisecond later, the entire vessel detonated with the power of several amassed nuclear warheads. ... ... Blink. Oh, great, I'm not even dead yet.Of course he is not even dead yet. If he weren't powerful enough to survive such blows and explosions, he would have never become the Emperor of the Galaxy. Clearly, however, the explosion must have jetted him out pretty far away, at least a few dozen kilometers because everywhere that the Frost Demon looked, he could see nothing but the starry sky of the North Quadrant. Not a single piece of the spaceship anywhere in sight. Hell, he might still be moving at dozens of kilometers every second and he wouldn't know, because it's not like you can feel air friction in deep outer space... This also, unfortunately, meant that there was no way of returning to the remains of the spaceship - if there even were any - and salvaging anything that's left. Anyone who was in that spaceship before its destruction is now either dead, floating in outer space or mysteriously vanished. Finding it would be impossible. ...wait, mysteriously vanished? ... Add teleportation to the list of Heimdall's abilities. There's no other way he could have escaped that doomed spaceship so suddenly. The fact that a mere Earthling in a fancy suit could appear and give him trouble was second in shock value only to the fact that he had never heard of that Earthling before. At this power level, any person would find it impossible to avoid the gravitas of one or more of the Galaxy's factions - and yet this cunt appeared out of nowhere, acting all high, mighty and morally upright, as if he had any right to be anywhere near the Emperor's strength. Every fiber in Polaris's body wanted to lash out at the nearest thing in his vicinity, or just land on Earth and kill every living thing in sight until he's sure that he has turned at least a few of Heimdall's friends into ash. And yet, there was opposition. Stop that.
Ever since that coup... No, ever since you lost to Etohn (Etohn) for the first time, your sanity has been slipping. You've been fantasizing more and more about torture, sadism, genocide, as if that's the only way you can release all of your pent up emotions.
That's not what we should be.
We're not going to be a second Frieza. We're not going to repeat his mistakes.
Heimdall is powerful, perhaps even slightly more powerful than you right now. but he is alone, and he caught you off-guard, unprepared, in an environment which is disadvantageous to you. He's got intelligence, but he's also overconfident.
Don't bother yourself with petty revenge. That's what separates you from Frieza. That's what separates you from your father, Glacio, Snow, and every other member of the Frieza Force you hate with a passion. That's what separates you from the Saiyans.
Petty revenge is what they want from you. That's what they expect. Respond with cold-blooded, calculated efficiency, and it's they who will slip.Polaris stuck his right hand under his bio-armor - which, to an outsider, might appear disgusting, basically sticking your hand under your skin, but it's not like there's anyone around to judge him - and pulled out a telecommunicator earpiece, sticking it to his right ear and pressing a button on it. After some time - establishing FTL communications with Mitra, opening channels, so on and so forth - a feminine Frost Demon's voice spoke up. " Your Majesty, what happened? My computer network suddenly received a package of data from your spaceship, is everything alright?" " I'm sure you can already tell that everything is not alright, Ice. I'm currently flying across interstellar space at dozens of kilometers per second and the spaceship, as well as all of the technology on it, has been destroyed." " Seeing that the package was sent haphazardly and with no regards for data security, I can tell. I found fifteen cases of malware in the first batch of data alone." " Right. What did you receive?" " Let's see... Some personal files, most of them pornography stored by your ship's crew. Why you carbon-based lifeforms need to look at images of female members of your species is still beyond me, but whatever... A few corrupted files which may have used to be blueprints, and security camera footage. A lot of security camera footage. Almost three weeks of security camera footage." " ...That's more than I initially expected. Alright, Ice, I should be back on Mitra in a day or two, so while I am gone, I need you to relay a few orders to a few specific people." " Understood. I'm listening, Your Majesty." " First, I want you to order the Dark Ops to start working on a dossier for a man visible in the last ten to fifteen minutes of that security camera footage. Create a list of suspects on who could be the person wearing that suit, and track all of the suspects' families, friends, relationships, personal quirks. They'll know the drill." " Understood." " Second, I want you to inform the Ministry of Arts and Culture to recruit a team of designers to create a wearable replica of the suit worn by said man. It doesn't have to be functional or even work as a mech suit, but it just has to resemble that suit and it has to be wearable." " Understood." " Third, inform the research and development department. Tell them that I will increase their funding tenfold and expand their research facilities as much as they want with all of the equipment they please. But they have to work harder on that clone program. I want the first Clone Trooper battalion to be fielded in the next month." " Understood. Anything else?" " None that I can think of at the moment, no? But if you could find something about the Earthling myth of Heimdall, and specifically how he died... I'd be very grateful. Crack a few jokes the next time we meet." (1335 words)
