Among the islands that surrounded South City, it was almost completely impossible to find one that had yet to be plagued with the spread of tourism and sight seeing that swallowed the culture of the area, and created its modern perception. But, while it was completely impossible to find an island without a shred of that fetish of escape and vacation, it was perfectly possible to find one that had to be one hundred percent invaded by the spread of idealism. One where a set of near submerged caverns and less than picturesque beaches could serve as a fair personal isolation away from those who chose not to pursue the rough path far from settled beach ground.
And it helped if one was able to submerge their temporary home beneath the waves, save for a single entrance wedged into the hidden cavern-ed cliffside. The entrance to a ship, and quite an impressive one, poked just barely over the shadowed and hidden ocean that served as its canopy and cover. One could not make it out its exact dimensions and design, but you could peer clearly beneath the waves, it was clearly not from the world or any world beyond the stars. And indeed it held its origins in the Other Realm, carefully constructed for years by the Kazabada Clan for the express purpose of slipping through a portal with all their kin. And in the process of its dangerous and troubled ride here, it brought only one.
One and: a small collection of imps subservient and sniveling. The imps were hard at work at some task, repair or reconstruction, overseen by a smirked and smug blue Demon who was no stranger to the tasks himself.
It would be clear after a few mere moments of observation, that the ship was not operational. That however convenient it may have been that it had landed in such a defensible and protected location... it couldn't leave. And trapped there, in such an easily overlooked place just barely beneath the public eye, they were clearly not comfortable being sitting ducks.
It wasn't that they were at the mercy of any passer by, but clearly... it would not be difficult to become a problem for these demons. Even if the only problem was being a nearby and noticeable presence.

Rai had returned to South City to further his training. He had learned of old caverns in the areas of tourism from an older martial artist in the area. The man warned him of its' dangers, not citing anything in particular. But this simply inspired curiousity in the young halflings' mind. Rai was on an intensive bout of training, aiming to make himself useful in some way to Polaris. He had joined the Empire's forces, and sought to prove himself a capable and headstrong warrior.
Rai detected a power level similar to his own hidden within the cavernous area, and desired to find its source. He scoured the immediate area nesr the caverns and took a moment to admire the ocean. He found it very tranquil, and paused to center himself. This could very well be dangerous, as he was warned.
The halfling continued searching the caverns, stumbling onto a hidden alcove within the cliff face. Rai debated entering the cave, feeling the power emanating from within. Seems someone had been right. Something was in the cave here.
Curiousity did kill the cat. "When have I ever NOT walked towards a strong power?" he asked himself aloud, laughing. He strode confidently towards it, at least feeling assured that he could at least survive any threat that this energy could hold.
Not that it necessarily was an enemy. But Rai anticipated that his luck would dictate a fight. It always did. Maybe this time he would win.

It was a curious thing, what you let slip when you were so busy regurgitating an adhesive solution from your bottomless stomach. Important work to be sure, and it was most definitely necessary when you needed to patch together such delicate and foreign material. It was the only material on earth likely, that spew from his gut, that could do the job! Important as it may be, it had caused Kavra a grave error. One that was only immediately apparent to him once he heard the chattering of the imps, a disturbance spreading through them like ripples through a pond.
It carried from the cavern entrance, where a lone impish lookout noted their new visitor, and all the way back to Kavra through a chain of multicolored demonkin that carried news as well as their tiny clawed feet carried them. Having lookouts is essential, when your 'secret' and 'hidden' place is so plainly open to the world.
Once the news reached Kavra, he knew immediately his mistake. His energy, running rampant, had led this intruder there. Quickly, it was snuffed, reduced to merely a sliver of its full amount.
He cursed his mistake as he carefully pruned his hair and touched at his horns. Not wanting to be found did not mean you couldn't look your best for guests, especially when they'd come all this way for you afterall! "Uwahh.... This is absolutely dreadful. Well. Don't worry a wink, friends. I will handle this, koo, koo, koo... You... little muffins. Keep at work. I won't be but a moment!"
He broke upward from the only entrance to his ship that stood above water, revealing his smiling and shadowy eyed visage to the cavern ceiling above, and to the single hole and path that served as an entrance to this above water cavern. With a loose grin, agape and allowing the occasional flicker of a yellowed tongue to lick at his lips, he drifted upward in flight. To survey the whole, and laze carelessly by its exit, leaning and waiting for his guest to arrive.
When his new friend, Raijin, did spot him, he would receive a wave of individual fingers, coyly bidding him welcome. "Well! Hello there! I hate to say it... but I was not expecting guests! I hope you didn't expect me to be dolled up for you... koo, koo...", He pouts, really looking quite sad that he wasn't ready to be dazzling for his cavern invading company.

Raijin heard footsteps scurrying, and thought he spotted strange little imps hurrying back and forth. He followed them, making his way deeper into the strange lair that he had stumbled upon. Finding his way to the power source he had been searching for, he was surprised to be greeted by a cooing colorful humanoid with horns, leaning carelessly against a wall. When the being spotted him, the strange creature spoke:
"Well! Hello there! I hate to say it... but I was not expecting guests! I hope you didn't expect me to be dolled up for you... koo, koo..."
Rai couldn't believe this bizarre man was speaking to him in such a manner. He found the being awfully suspicious, scantily clad, and rather ominous. Still, Rai wanted to get a feel for the situation before he jumped the gun and acted as if he was a threat. So, Raijin responded civilly to the man, smiling politely:
"Guests? So this is your little hideout then, huh? My name is Raijin. Raijin Shinato. You got a name?"
As Raijin asked this he surveyed the area. Not the best place to fight. Really close quarters, not the most well-lit... If it turned into a brawl this could get problematic.

"Now now now.... If I'm hiding out here... in a hidden seaside cavern... Raijin Shinato.... Why would I want to give you my name? What possible reason would I, who so clearly loves to be alone..... koo koo koo...", he ran some weary hands over his blue body, stretching and popping at various intervals and connections. He was sore afterall. "Why would this lovely blue loner want to tell you his name? Or even let you past this entrance to begin with?" As he reached the end of his suite of stretches, he returned to his lax 'stack of loose laundry' pose against the wall, continuing to consider his newest entrant.
"What... exactly.. brings you here? And dressed like that as well. You don't seem like some beach goer who wandered off the beaten path... koo, koo... You seem like someone who's looking for something. And, stud, if you're looking for me, you'd know my name. But if you aren't looking for me... why and how did you exactly end up in this very specific cavern."
"What. is. your. intention?" Each of his words was emphasized by a tap against the wall, and his expression grew more and more unimpressed with each passing moment. Clearly, he was not excited Raijin was here. And any false enthusiasm he had conjured from the beginning? Clearly just mocking the halfling.
Now, not that he currently knew that Raijin was a halfling. If he did that would be quite bad for the peaceful entrant. A Shinjin coming so close to a demons hidden domain... well. It was asking for trouble of somekind or another.

Rai knew he was being questioned. Rai also knew that this being was questionable, to say in the least. Unsavory characters gathering on Rai's home planet seemed to always be a bad sign. With all the cities that had been destroyed recently, he didn't feel so good about someone hiding so close by where children could wander in. Rai was by no means a saint, but he wasn't in the mood to let this one go by. It was fair too suspicious, especially with this ones' paranoia.
Rai laughed at the demon, unknowing of his identity. "Listen. Most people live in housesn y'know? This is sketchy. I'm here because I was told it could be dangerous around these parts. I wanted to see if it was true. Judging by your demeanor, I'd say the rumors are right. You look like some fairy tale Michael Jackson monster that gobbles up fat kids! So, I'm gonna ask you again. What are you up to? You're really skeeving me out."
Rai prepared a few low-level spells in advance, imagining that this creature could be well-versed in magic itself. It wasn't often that he found beings just lurking in cliffside caverns. The spark and flicker of magic whose source was unbeknownst to Raijin would be obvious to any spellcaster or creature of magic.
The crackle of white electricity around Rai's fist would be a signifier of just how wary he was of this stranger. "Maybe I did wander into your place. But, I believe in fate. I think I was supposed to be here. It's callled the Law of Synchronicity. Same place, same time."

It was very likely that Raijin would have no idea what would so suddenly set off the blue demon, but it began almost immediately after that crackling white lightning appeared before him. Something about that energy that the halfling at just presented sent the Kazabada demon into a a mighty tizzy. For, though Raijin may have been unaware, Kavra himself recognized the signature of the Shinjin anywhere. And now that his opponent had exposed it to him, there was only one logical conclusion in his mind, and it was that this man was here for a very specific reason. Demon Hunting. "So! That's why you're here then!", the demon spread wide, filling the dimensions of the passages exit into the cavern below with his star shaped pose. Hands and feet pushed widely to either side, while the formerly petite and smooth neck of the demon began to bulge and distort wildly, followed by the cheeks filling up with some sort of barely contained substance. And then, when he cracked his fanged mouth open suddenly, it came violently pouring out. A miasma of black fog, heading towards the only exit that it could find, up and out. Towards the open air behind Raijin it carried, covering him in its torrent of suffocating and terribly potent weight and scent. It reeked of a distinct rot and an uncomfortable sense of closeness accompanied it. If it weren't enough that this horrid and pungent cloud of ill intent were spilling over Raijin, trying to invade his every pore and orifice like some sort of violent living force, it would become substantially worse when the sudden sound of a deep and sharp exhale broke through comparative silence of spreading mist. A second fume had broken its way through the original, one much more violently colored. While the last had seemed intent upon invasion and theft of some precious resource of Raijins, this one was pure blind malice. This pinkish red, blood tinged cloud of malignant and malevolent energy pierced through the original like a spear, forcing a trail of black to taint the tropical sky above, and colliding into Raijin like it was expertly aimed. Which it was. This cloud didn't wave over Raijin, threatening to crush him with its aura and drift off with his power... this one was seeking only a specific destruction. It burned and stung, as if it intended to rip those previously invaded pores and hairs that covered the halflings skin. It was the feeling of awaking from a terrible nightmare, only to find as you jerked upward, your skin had frozen to some bed of hellish ice. You awakening peeled it like a fruit. But the bloody fog did not hold the same lasting power as the black cloud which still remained and lingered in both the cave entrance and the sky above, and it faded shortly, though the memory of the pain it brought with it did not. If Raijin had any hope that he was done with this invasive and obscuring assault, he would be sorely disappointed at the sound of a deep and threatening inhale that heralded the return of the black smog. It rained down against his back, and returned to its point of origin with a single and driven purpose. Swallowed back into the demons maw, Raijin was finally free of the presence of those terrible afflictions, if not the curses they would leave behind. Revealed for a short moment was Kavra, the demon confidently standing in a power of power and murderous intent. In his left hand, and then in his right, tossed back and forth as it was, he brandished a blade. A Jian. That, those paltry few facts, were all Raijin would be able to make out, before the demon propelled itself along the walls, his blade alighting in flame and making an express trip towards the man's throat. And if that lunge did not do to hit the Shinjin Halfling in anyway, the low sweep towards his legs surely might. The demon had dropped down like some sort of distorted cave dwelling lizard, biting at the mans ankles with his flaming weapon of choice. Curious and disorienting assault it had been, no one could deny that every bit of it was filled with a lethal and murderous intent. Whatever Raijin was, or represented, Kavra wanted it dead. 727 Words PL: 22,450

A sudden exclamation of understanding from his opposite jarred Raijin. Whatever reason that the demon had assumed Rai came here for was lost to the hybrid. He was completely ignorant to the source of his abilities, and unsure of his limitations. However, when a horrible miasma began to burst from the deplorable creatures maw the halfling knew he had to act quickly. The mist curled and unfurled towards him threateningly- Raijin knew he didn't want to breathe it in. Before he could act, a second layer of the miasmic cloud burst towards him, taking him by surprise. The hybrid began coughing vehemently, his vision waivering as the vile substance filled his lungs. He felt himself weaken, his reserves of energy decreasing. Frightened to see the repercussions of fje rest of the fog, he reached into a hidden compartment on his person and withdrew a small magical device from it. Pumping some of his magic through it, Rai began to filter his breathing as an invisible bubble of magic surrounded him, temporarily preventing the strangr attack from working. Raijin was on guard now, and when the demon came at him with a blade he had already prepared himself. Focusing his ki he dodged the attack with a strain of effort, narrowly escaping the arc of his assailant's blade. Rai was pissed now. Here he was, just having idle conversation and this miscreant had chosen to attack him, and weaken him. Raijin's breathing felt labored as his body worked against the strange vapor he had ingested. Lightning crackled around Raijin's palm, swirling with a malicious tenacity. Without hesitating, Rai prepared the largest version of this attack he could muster, deciding he had had enough of this cretin. "Shocking Slash!" he exclaimed as he sent waves of crackling lightning at his enemy, the magical tendrils of energy threatening to sear and shock him. BATTLE TRACKER
