Space Vegas! Flashing lights! Casinos! Alien strippers! Narcotics! Alcohol! These were the things Raijin imagined as he sat in the small space shuttle transporting him, eyeing the brochure like a wide-eyed child. He practically drooled at the image of the hotel he was staying at, amazed he had found such a prime deal on it. About twenty minutes went by and the shuttle pulled into a docking pad. He got off the spacecraft and entered a taxi, giving the humanoid cabbie the picture of the hotel/casino aptly named, "Korik's Lucky Dice".
He looked starry eyed as he rolled up to the front of it, genuinely impressed that he had managed to actually do something right. His past few excursions into the far reaches of space had been less than special. In fact, they had been painful, embarassing, or a combination of the two.
Now wasn't the time to reflect. Rai never believed himself to be the best at overthinking things, he didn't want to ever have to be. He rushed through checking in, depositing his luggage in his room and heading straight for the casino. Along the way he grabbed a really cheesey flower necklace and a drink made in some sort of weird space pineapple, grinning as he began sipping generously from it.
In truth, he had an allowance of about a thousand zenni. His goal was to double it, at least. He would do anything to be able to do that. This was not only a gambling excursion. Raijin's brow furrowed as he began to focus. This was going to be his most intense training yet... He would push his body to its' utmost limitations. He would consume fruity alcoholic beverages until his strength and mental acuity waivered. He would gamble, and risk it all. His first challenge would be the slot machines, whose swirling pictures matching up could determine his very fate, both fiscally and emotionally.
Making his way over to the machines, he fell into a near zen state as he inserted the fee of 5 zenni into the machine, pulling the handle. Suddenly, 3 pictures of some guy with an afro and a mustache (Hercule) came into an array on the slots, 15 zenni coming out of the machine. Raijin began laughing maniacally as he stared at the small sum of zenni, gathering the negative attention of all those around him...

"So, this is Space Vegas. What a pitiable place." A lone Namekian gazes around, only feeling disgust for a place like this existing. The mindless indulgences of alcohol and gambling, the shady individuals behind this "utopia" existing, everything here was despicable in his eyes. To him, the whole planet was a cesspit of sin and corruption, and people willingly wallowed in it and supported it. If Riko wished to, he could exterminate this planet and ultimately improve the universe as a whole through that act. It would be so easy for someone like him to do such...but he'd relent. A task for the future, he thought. For now, he came to remind himself of why he does what he does and see if he can detect any notable individuals. Deciding to spend his time at a Casino during this visit, Riko would find an area devoid of the wandering eyes of folks within the building, a conveniently empty hallway, and would wordlessly cast a spell of invisibility. Hiding his ki, as well, he was now completely undetectable. Thus, he'd wander the building, searching for a person interesting enough to make his time spent here seem less wasted. This wouldn't prove difficult to achieve, however, as his Namekian ears would catch the sound of somebody stepping through the entrance of the premises. The thing that particularly caught his attention about them, however, was their energy. They had the signature of a Human, but there was something else past that, as well. Something that Riko had never experienced before. It wasn't quite like Lute, who was actually two souls in one mortal vessel, no, this was indeed just a single person, but there seemed to be something more to them. It was an indescribable feeling, and it definitely deserved his attention. Silently stalking through the building, Riko would tail the individual, who's appearance definitely seemed Human to him. As they were in a Casino at the moment, and since tracking a person travelling around a planet like this would be difficult to do stealthily, he'd cast a spell upon the person, gifting them incredible luck. Well, not really luck so much as everything around them altering their outcome to better favor the individual, but it was really just luck in a place of gambling like this. For now, he'd watch, invisible to all outside perspectives, and observe this being. Perhaps the mystery around their person would reveal itself at some point here. Words: 409 Tora

One moment Raijin was doing alright. Barely winning... now? Something had shifted in his favor. He had been winning for 10 minutes straight. Either some deity of gambling had granted him a boon, or Rai's life was on an upswing. A few pretty girls of varying species gathered around him, as he kept winning, and winning, his grin stretching wider and wider as he did.
"Garson! Cigars and wine, please!" he exclaimed, his eyes glimmering with avarice. Rai was young, and had been in solitude for a long while. Not to mention that, he had been on a losing streak lately.
So as the slots kept landing in his favor, he got up and put his arms around two of the ladies, them giggling and smiling at him. "C'mon ladies! Let's have a good time!" he said, holding back tears of joy.
This was how it should be for him! No more fighting, no more struggling! Life would be a breeze. Rai pictured himself in a lavish space apartment on an asteroid, wearing a pinstripe suit and arguing with his ex-wife while sipping brandy. The dream life!
He made his way over to various other gambling areas, ranging from ones he was familiar with from Earth to strange ones, with rules he had never known. Still, he kept winning! His eyes would've literally turned into dollar signs if they could, and despite his magical background he didn't think to check for residual magic around him. Unbeknownst to him, he was cheating.
But the management there wasn't so stupid. A sign in the back of the establishment read, "No magic allowed!" Apparently they had ways of detecting this. Rai was being watched. A large Saiyan in a black suit watched him, but Rai paid him no heed. The hybrid also failed to notice the short alien wizard to his left, working to dispell his good luck. He was far too busy winning to know it was all about to come crumbling down on him.
However, before the spell could be reversed Rai did something risky. He bet all of his winnings, laughing like a madman and spilling wine everywhere as he did so. He won. The payout hit six digits.
The large Saiyan made his move then, approaching him as Rai greedily scooped up a mountain of chips. A large hand was placed on Raijin's shoulder, and a burly voice spoke to him: "You! Come with me."
The Saiyan began to pull Raijin away from his pile of winnings, much to his protest. A magical shock of energy burst from Rai's body, almost instinctively. It shocked the Saiyan, but left him standing there pissed. This was gonna get ugly.

When given the gift of good fortune befalls a person, most of the common rabble will abuse it with no care as to when their luck could run out, and it seemed like this Human was just common rabble. With no sense of caution, they'd continue to indulge themselves, throwing out more and more money, and obviously coming back with no repercussions. This wasn't an unexpected outcome. This was Space Vegas, after all, so the virtuous aren't likely to come here, but it did make the bizarre characteristics of this person seem even odder. There was something special about them, but they didn't act like it. Eventually, a small alien nearby to the Human seemed to be using some arcane energy which would attack the enchantment Riko placed. So this place employed methods to combat cheating through this method, it seemed. Well, it looked like it was time to fix this situation. Stepping into the shadow of the Saiyan walking towards the man of interest, Riko would dispel his invisibility, out of the sight of the other customers in this establishment, and would raise his palm towards the Xeno. Immediately, their eyes would begin to droop, and his head would fall to the table he sat at, snoring softly. Turning his attention back to the Saiyan, Riko would place his hand onto their left shoulder and forcefully turn them around to stare him eye-to-eye. Riko's eyes would glow with a blue light as he exerts an illusion over the man. To them, the world would fade to black and white colors and they'd only be able to watch in terror as their body began to start blowing away, like they were turning to dust, the feeling of his limbs fading away inciting terror. It didn't take long for the Saiyan to fall to the ground, unconscious from the sensory overload of the spell. Riko steps over the body and motions towards the Human he enchanted. "You. I believe it's about time for you to leave this place. Be sure to grab all of your money and come with me." Leaning over, Riko points to the person in charge of the table they were at, a thin blue line of mana flowing from his hand towards them. They'd suddenly freeze in place, leaving the other man free to take their chips and leave. The Namekian did not particularly want them to cause a ruckus about the people he made unconscious. Rai was shocked as a namekian phased into view, disposing of the two aliens who threatened to subdue him. Apparently the alien had been using him to cheat or something, and told him to take the chips and run. The hybrid was befuddled. In this moment, he faced a moral decision. Should he take the chips? Where would he exchange them for money? More importantly, who was this alien?
These were all questions nagging at Raijin. The halfling sprung into action, his excitement fading into agitation. "Listen, pal. I'm no cheat. If I wanted to use a luck spell, I would've made some sort of charm and waltzed right in here, undetected. Here you are, weaving spells and turning invisible! I'm the one taking the heat. I thought my luck had turned, but turns out not even magic can solve my losing streak..."
Rai would've kept scolding the man, had he not noticed a few more tailed security guards pouring out of the main office, pointing at him and the alien. Not the type to take misbegotten gains, Rai grabbed the Namekian and the chips, hoping to dump them on the real culprit and get away. He wasn't about to leave this guy behind.
He dragged the alien to the door, letting go of the strangers hand as he made it there. Passing through the exit, he gasped as the bag he was holding hissed and sizzled, bursting into flames. The chips had been installed with a slick invention- bomb that detected when the chips left the premises. He tossed them to the side and cursed as a few more thuggish lookimg Saiyan security guards surrounded him.
"Let's get outta here!" He yelled to the Namekian, hoping his large ears could pick it up.

It seemed that the other man was not fond of his gift. Something about how they could've cheated on their own and were on a losing streak. Riko didn't pay particularly close attention, already annoyed by their nagging. At least they managed to shut up as the guards appeared behind them. Thinking that they grabbed the Namekian's hand, Raijin ran off with a perfect copy Riko conjured. He refused to be dragged around like a child. It also conveniently left him alone to deal with the new arrivals, all of whom quickly fanned out and surrounded the mage. One standing at the forefront of the lot, a Heran from the looks of it, sneers at him. "Listen here, scumbag. We don't much appreciate people like you here, the kind to cheat and take advantage of our generous business, so I'll ask you once to surrender and just come along with us. We'll be sure to not hurt ya...that badly," he snarls, his lackeys chuckling at his words. "Say, could you answer me something?""And what would that be, Green Bean?" "Well, you all seem like a rather athletic bunch, so I wanted to know how well you could all swim." As if on cue, the flooring all around the bouncers would suddenly become liquid-like, the whole group sinking into it with it splashing over to them to continue dragging them downwards. Before long, they were all completely submerged, probably being dragged down to the building below this. "Child's play." Dusting his hands off, Riko would vanish from the spot he was at, appearing beside Raijin, after having heard his suggestion earlier. "Leaving this area probably would be a good idea. Here, this will take us far enough away to be fine." At the snap of his fingers, a dark void would emerge from the air itself in front of the pair, wavering unnaturally, as though it were a physical object trying to expand outwards. "Well, I shall see you on the other side, then." Without another word, Riko steps through, his body being pushed and pulled from every direction as he's teleported away, until he suddenly would just appear in a dark alley. A group of spooked hobos, not knowing quite what to make of this Namekian suddenly popping into existence while they were playing cards, would bolt out. Words: 390 (1209 total) Tora

Raijin was jarred from his escape by Riko's sudden appearance, the hybrid believing the namekian had been with him the whole time. The alien instructed him to leave the area, snapping his fingers to craft some sort of worm hole. This was some high level magic. Far beyond what Rai was currently capable of. The Namekian made his way through the rift in space and time and Rai followed suit, unsure of where he would emerge.
Stumbling through the wormhole into a poorly lit alleyway, Raijin was surprised to see a few scattered vagrants cowering in fear of their arrival. Rai flashed a grin at them, hoping to comfort them. He brushed his long hair out of his eyes and turned to the Namekian, looking him up and down.
This man was powerful. Magic to him was as simple as taking a breath. Raijin envied this- his training had been fruitless as of late. This man could bend reality to his will, while Rai struggled to weave together simple charms. He knew his potential was far beyond this. It was always like something was scratching beneath the surface, a power aching to emerge.
"...The name is Raijin. Raijin Shinato. You can call me Rai. You're no simple magician. In fact, I'm humbled by the intricacies of your spellweaving. Tell me. Where'd you learn all of that?" he inquired, his eyes gleaming. He leaned against one of the dirty walls of the alleyway, extending his senses to survey any potential threats nearby.
He didn't want this talk to be interrupted.

Leaning on the wall opposite of Raijin, Riko glares at the ensemble of people still present, frozen in fear and confusion. His eyes would suddenly flash with a gleam of red light, thus giving the inspiration to the hobos to leave the pair alone which they immediately made good on, making a mad dash away from him.
"Raijin. What an odd name..." As he spoke, Riko would conjure a coin into his palm and flip it along his knuckles. A cheap distraction from the dullard he had taken interest in.
"And if you must know where I learned how to use magic, you must not know very much about us Namekians. My race has different castes within it, and the Dragon Clan caste happens to be born talented with magic with incredible potential and entirely unique abilities to us. Half of what we learn isn't even capable of being replicated by other beings. For example..."
Suddenly snapping his grip around the coin, Riko would hold his palm forwards, it sitting in the middle of it. Riko's eyes would squint, and the small piece of metal would rapidly begin to heat up, becoming molten almost instantly and melting straight through his hand. It dribbles onto the ground below, sizzling away. All the while, the self-inflicted wound bleeds profusely, painting the floor purple with itself.
Touching his other hand to the hole, a faint, white glow would surround both of his hands, though this was not arcane energy. It was purely ki coalescing here, and it did not take very long for the singed flesh of his palm to begin knitting itself back together. In the blink of an eye, his hand was completely fixed, the only remnants of the previous wound being the blood that coated the ground.
"Of course, I can also use regular magic effectively, as demonstrated earlier. I just don't really need it."
