Emperor of the Galaxy It might not appear like so from an outsider's perspective, but the First Galactic Empire was not a unitary body. Sure, the Emperor and the platinum throne on Mitra held absolute authority over the heart of the Empire and much of the periphery, but it was still, as dictated by history, a successor of the Galactic Patrol. And the Galactic Patrol was never unitary to begin with - much of its territory was composed of many minor statelets, kingdoms and other nations which had, one way or another, allied with the Patrol, either out of convenience, mutual fear of the Frieza Force or for personal purposes. After the formation of the Empire, much of these states, for either openly resisting the new regime or showing dissatisfaction with it, ended up integrated into the Imperial core, forcefully or otherwise - but the dozens of states which declared their allegiance to the Empire could not just be eliminated for existing, and thus remained as somewhat autonomous "states within a state". Of course, Emperor Polaris did his hardest to institute direct rule from Mitra. He would regularly visit each and every one of his states, negotiating with local rulers to increase Imperial military presence, bring in administrators from Abbayor, increase trade ties with the Imperial core, so on and so forth - or, if he is lucky that day, catch a verbal slip-up from the local leadership, confirming suspicions of disloyalty, and thus acquire a reason to intervene, overthrow the satellite government and integrate the planet. Today was one of these visits. The satellite in question was Planet Russa, a world located a few hundred lightyears away from Abbayor. Before the establishment of the Empire, it joined up with the Patrol to ensure its safety from the Frieza Force, and this innate fear of foreign invasion was what kept them attached to Emperor Polaris despite being well aware of the possibility of integration. The Emperor stepped out of the Russan monarch's bog-standard palace into a busy cityscape followed by a platoon of Ultramarines and a disappointed expression. The Russan monarch was not a bad negotiator - convincing him to give up the last vestiges of independence in exchange for half-hearted promises was not going to be as easy as in many other places, which practically fell headfirst into the Frost Demon's traps. And yet, Russa had done nothing wrong to warrant an Ultramarine brigade landing and kicking out that pink-haired bastard by force. "Call up our transport, we're going home." Polaris gave a laconic command, and his subordinates began doing exactly that. It would take a few minutes before their spaceship arrives from the other side of the planet, however, so the Frost Demon had some time to kill. With his hands placed behind his back, he took a glance across the cityscape, thousands of hovercars storming past the streets every second and the sounds of Russans chattering being even heard from here. It was so peaceful that Polaris was sure that something was about to break out soon to break up the monotony. Something was going to happen. He just knew it. (516 words) Defensive Phase

Lute was in a bad mood, more so than usual. The port-authority of Russa were on high alert. Something about an important delegate visiting from another world. They cut him off before he could ask relevant questions. Even the illegally acquired trader codes he used offered were denied. This forced him to exit his spacecraft from orbit and fall down from the upper atmosphere into the planet proper. He managed to slow his descent with bursts of ki so that he didn't burn up from friction. The wind roared in his ears as he adjusted his trajectory, calculating eyes setting upon the vast urbanized landscape of the planet's capital. He had been here a few dozen times, so he knew the layout of the metropolis well enough. His contact lived in the Five Water District, which clamored against the glittering ocean inlet. The area was famous for its canals and labyrinthine intersecting waterways. The sort of place that the artsy and rich frequented. Lute didn't fit in at all. He set down in a small park, next to a bunch of puffy pink trees and a bench. A Russan woman feeding some birds screeched in horror at the dark clad warrior from the sky appeared before her. Lute didn't pay any heed, merely strutting off on his business. His contact ran a cafe down by one of the canals. The door opened with a jingle and he stepped in. About ten or so minutes later, he emerged--now even more pissed off. The man had almost no information about the Hidden City of Hollow. However, he did inform Lute something very interesting. The delegate that was visiting Russa happened to be the one and only Emperor Polaris--Hero of the Galaxy. Lute had caught up on recent events since his two year "vacation" in the Demon Realm. He held a bit of envy and admiration for the famous warrior. Not for his acts of heroism, rather for his persistence. He dared to challenge the status quo. He was forcing order upon a galaxy that thrived in chaos and war. It wasn't like the Saiyan Dominion. No, they had no elegance or purpose. Lute saw them as bunch of filthy savages that fought for the sake of fighting. Conquering worlds was entertainment. The rumors mongers wove the tale that Polaris's power rivaled that of a Super Saiyan. He had been apart of the mission that ende Lord Glacio. It was said that he even killed a Super Saiyan. Those were some marvelous feats, if true. He glanced down at his open palm and back up at the empty radiant sky. Why do I want to meet Polaris? Why do I want to see if the rumors are true? I'm a wanted murderer, no doubt he will try to apprehend me.It was a complicated question and he stood paralyzed by indecision. Since being saved by Kuueru in the Demon Realm, Lute had come to the realization that he couldn't accomplish his goals alone. If Polaris challenged the status quo at every turn, perhaps there was a chance he would challenge the one the gods imposed. Lute was never a creature that acted out of impulse. Everything he did was methodical, planned, and intricate. Today, it appeared that was going to go off script, to do something at a whim. Closing his eyes for concentration, it didn't take him long at all to figure out where the Emperor was located. There was a dense gathering of people with large power levels. They weren't warriors from Russa, that was for sure. Their citizens were mere ants in comparison. Amethyst aura blazing around him, the Namekain soared over the tops of the various buildings. Arriving above Polaris's procession, he folded his arms and let loose his dark aura to grab their attention. "Emperor Polaris I presume?"BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Emperor of the Galaxy Polaris's idyllic glance across the Russan cityscape got rudely cut off by a series of bleeping scouters across the platoon lined up behind him. Mutters of confusion and surprise broke out, and the commander of the unit, a Kabochan lieutenant named Borscht, opted to inform the Emperor on what had just happened. "Your Majesty, a large power level is heading our way from the city." he muttered. Polaris turned his face towards the blue-clad soldier and replied: "I'm well aware." His energy sense had already made out a striking signature making its way across the buildings of the city below. The power it exhibited could not be underestimated. It could pose a serious challenge to the Emperor in his base form, that's for sure. That's what worried Borscht, so he continued the conversation: "Is this a trap of sorts? I wouldn't put it past that sly Russan dog to try to assassinate the Emperor on an official meeting..." Polaris gave the thought a few seconds in his mind, closing his eyes while standing stern as always. He had to push that thought to the side, however, as the mysterious power level in question had finally reached the group, floating in front of them with its arms crossed and an intimidating aura flowing around it. A Namekian. A rare sight in these parts of the Galaxy, or anywhere outside their planet, really. Namekians were, in their core, a sedentary race, space travels were not in their nature, so a Namekian of all people coming up to greet him was far from expected. Borscht almost instinctively grabbed onto the pistol attached to his thigh, but he was stopped by Polaris raising his hand in his direction. The Frost Demon turned around to face the new arrival, speaking: "This isn't a hitman. He wouldn't ask who I am otherwise." The Namekian wasn't familiar to Polaris - however, their face was slightly familiar, for some reason. As if this was a person he was supposed to know, for one reason or another. Maybe he had seen it in the Galactic Patrol database somewhere? Either way, Polaris set those thoughts aside as he approached the floating Namekian. "I am Polaris, Emperor of the Galaxy, you are not mistaken. Do I know you?" Lute shook his head. "We've never met. However, your face is plastered all over every vid-screen across the galaxy. Hero and what not. Now the Emperor, as you've said. Chosen by the Galactic King to replace him in the ineffectual reign. Yes, ruler of a galaxy that could give two shits about the position's authority."The words seethed with malice and contempt, matching that of his aura. The Galactic Patrol had always been a sore spot for Lute. They were meddlesome fools, sticking their noses in where they often didn't belong. Quite a few times one of his assassination jobs were compromised by interference. This often resulted in him having to kill their members. Also, he had been alive long enough to see them war against the Frieza Force on more than one occasion, but lack the focus to take down their enemies. It took the Saiyan Dominion to finally end that threat. "For you to be on this planet the same day as me is a stroke of fate. I won't the opportunity pass me up. I am here to challenge you for your throne. Let's see if all the rumors about your impressive strength are true."Lute lied with that one. He had not an ounce of care for Polaris's throne. It was simply a test to see if he had any pride. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Emperor of the Galaxy Lute's request immediately got the Ultramarines and their commander Borscht to raise their head. The commander furrowed his eyebrows and pulled out his baster, speaking with venom in his voice: "I knew it, this planet was too suspicious from the get-go. Step aside, Your Majesty, we'll-" The Ultramarine was stopped by his supreme commander suddenly raising his hand without even taking a glance at his men - which they instantly interpreted as a halt order. Polaris said nothing, only stared into Lute, a frown forming on his face. On one hand, this clearly powerful Namekian has just challenged him to a duel for the throne. Unacceptable. On the other hand... he needs a little bit of a warm-up. Suddenly, a powerful purple aura burst to life around the casually standing Polaris, and within minutes, the Frost Demon's body transformed, growing to over six feet tall, putting on a set of horns and bio-armor, as well as a face mask. The dreaded Fifth Form, wielded by only the most powerful Frost Demons. Polaris's power level instantly burst the scouters equipped by his soldiers and the power emanating from his body blew away dust, rubble and swirled around rocks like they were nothing. " You usurpers can get so forward sometimes," Polaris muttered, in a deep, harsh voice, a wild change from what normally came out of him. " Can't hold it together for more than ten seconds after meeting your target? Next time, try fifteen years." Polaris remained immobile, not a single part of his body moving an inch, when suddenly, his aura burst into life again, this time more fiery and dense than before, only to form a series of energy spears orbiting around the Frost Demon, sent one after the other to target the Namekian's joints and shoulders in order to swiftly eliminate him. "I knew it, this planet was too suspicious from the get-go. Step aside, Your Majesty, we'll-" "I have nothing to do with this backwater planet's government," Lute said. "Just stopped by to visit an old friend."Lute kept a face of stone as Polaris grew in size from his sleek stature to a formidable monstrosity. He was still a good foot shorter than the big Namekian, but the spines protruding from him looked far more menacing. "You usurpers can get so forward sometimes," Polaris said. "Can't hold it together for more than ten seconds after meeting your target? Next time, try fifteen years." Lute narrowed his eyes at that comment. Is he saying he's an usurper? Based on all the information he gathered, it sounded like the Galactic King had handed him the throne. Then again, it could have just been a one-off comment. There wasn't much time to think about it. Polaris's aura blazed around him and spears of ki materialized without the Emperor moving a muscle. Lute had never before seen such immaculate energy control. The amount of power he was giving off was enough to cause bumps to raise on the Namekian's flesh. He was excited. This power far exceeded his imagination. Still, he needed to see what kind of warrior Polaris was before assuming anything else. The spears descended in a violent, yet precise, rain. Lute held out one hand and unleashed a concussive blast of ki that shattered all the spears as if they were made of glass. They turned to motes of raw energy before dissipating completely. He then gave Polaris a fanged grin before launching his counter assault. Polaris would more than likely feel Lute's hatred and malice as though it were a palpable force pressing into his mind, burrowing into his psyche and hopefully with it a seed of doubt. A blade of ki dark as midnight manifested itself from Lute's hand, its edge glowing with the light it stole and encapsulated, much like the event horizon of a black hole. He dashed at Polaris in one swift motion, attempting to plow straight through his chest with it. He blinked from sight, zipping around and through the crowd of the Emperor's men, before materializing above. Floating there, upside down, he pumped his arms and unleashed a rain of palm sized ki amethyst ki bolts. Once finished, he swept his hand up and activated the trap he had set. As he had moved among Polaris's men, he had left tiny beads of ki behind--dozens of them. They exploded all at once in a massive cacophony of destruction that rang across the metropolis. It would hurt Polaris a little, but if the Ultramarines weren't incinerated, they were more than likely gravely wounded. BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

Emperor of the Galaxy Well this is a record - the Namekian was only starting to battle him, and yet he was already starting to be annoying as all hell. After deflecting the ranged pressure point strikes, swatting them aside and being left unscathed, he suddenly generated a pitch black energy blade on his hand and chose the "maximize collateral damage" approach to combat. It was a little odd - Polaris was just standing there straight, and yet he could feel just how filled with hatred Lute was, as if the Namekian's thoughts were seeping into his mind. It almost caught him unprepared for a sudden ki blade stab - but no dice, the Frost Demon deflected the incoming strike with his right hand. What a coincidence that hatred is, then. Hatred was also what Polaris was starting to feel when he witnessed a platoon of his get wiped out by the Namekian with a combination of energy bolts from above and ki mines placed among his men and detonated at the last second. The explosions and bolts were, at best, annoying to the Frost Demon, but his squad was swiftly turned into ashes. Those who got the bright idea to ignore protocol and run only managed to escape with heavy wounds and lost limbs - their comrades, meanwhile, got a one way trip to King Yemma. "What a bother." Polaris muttered, raising his right index finger towards the Namekian in the sky and releasing a beam of ki electricity, aiming to shock his opponent while he's still in mid-air and down him. "You're new in this business, aren't you? Killing the people who might have been your allies in this coup attempt, if only you provided them with incentive to join... Frankly, I'm appalled. If you somehow squeeze through and manage to kill me today, I fear this Galaxy will fall to the wrong hands." This speech wasn't just to act condescending to Lute or to toy around with his supposed claim to the Galactic Throne, however. Hoping to draw away the Namekian's attention by speaking, Polaris was secretly pumping ki into his right fist, giving it a faint purple glow, only to suddenly charge forward, flying across the air at hypersonic speeds and aiming to finish this battle with a single powerful strike to the Namekian's chest. He let those men get obliterated without batting an eye, And he only looks annoyed, as though we are both children and I knocked his toys off the play-mat. I see now... one does not become the Emperor of the Galaxy by being a noble and peace loving space-cop. No, this warrior much, much more.Lute's distracting thoughts proved to be a horrible mistake. Because Polaris had gathered a titantic amount of ki into his fist and was headed straight for him. Lute could hardly believe the speed and power that was being brought down upon him. There was enough behind the attack to crack the planet open like a nut. Good thing Lute was floating the sky, where the brunt of the blow would be focused towards space. He had to think fast, but there was no escape. The Emperor was moving far too fast for that. The only thing that Lute could do was meet the attack head on. Dismissing his dark energy blade, he put his hands above his head. Amethyst ki swelled into both palms, raw and unformed, crackling in erratic streaks of lightning. It swelled in size, doubling and tripling until Lute couldn't hold onto the raw quivering force of it anymore. Gritting his teeth with exertion, he pointed down and fired an enormous beam in retaliation. The Emperor punched straight through, dissipating most of the beam. The gap was closed that instant. Lute could only unleash a second and even more erratic blast. They collided and everything exploded in a blinding flash of light and deafening roar. Buildings around the area were reduced rubble as the pressure wave shot out from the epicenter. Lute felt something dig into his gut and was doubled over, eyes wide. Purple blood sprayed from his mouth and torso as the fist punched clean through and out the other side. Shaking, the Namekian grinned wide at the Emperor, peeling himself off. Clutching his ruptured gut,he began to weave healing energies into the wound to seal it up before his innards spilled out like loose spaghetti. "You surround yourselves with weaklings," Lute said and coughed a couple times. "They were insects compared to you. You let them die, as they should. Its clear to me now why you've gotten as far as you have."He burst into laughter, a gleam of excitement and a hint of madness etching his face. "The Galatic Patrol were always insignificant, pathetic. They lacked the conviction and gall to dispose of their enemies. From what I've heard, you've done the exact opposite thus far."Lute floated down and both feet touching down at the edge of the massive crater left behind in Russa's capital. A couple districts had been wiped out. Probably thousands were killed and tens of thousands more injured. Sirens wailed in the distance, the sort that warned of an imminent orbital attack. No doubt it wouldn't be long before the camera-bots arrived to investigate the scene. So, Lute needed to make this quick. "You're worthy of being the Emperor. I wanted to test you. I could care less about the throne, my ambitions are much different. I just wanted to make sure you weren't a worm with an inflated ego. I not all expected this though. No, you far exceed my expectations."The wound was sealed up for the most part, but there was a whole lot of bruising surrounding it. Lute was also sure one of his ribs had shattered as well. "I think you're worthy of more, of my allegiance. You and I both know that I am worth ten thousand of those men that died. What do you say?"BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY

Emperor of the Galaxy The strike into the Namekian's gut was a more destructive than Polaris had initially imagined - large portions of the city had been leveled by the shockwave and the power that was needed to impale his opponent. This brings both bad and good news. The bad news is that the destruction of a planet's capital city is never a good thing when you want to squeze out as much resources and manpower from that planet as humanly possible. This region's production efficiency and soldiers provided to the Imperial Army will drop for at least a few years. What a shame, because this planet was never too wealthy to begin with. The good news is that Polaris can pin this event on the Russan military. Look at the situation - their beloved Emperor, the Hero of the Galaxy, was attacked by a brutal usurper and did not receive any help from the local ruler! Not a single soldier! Clearly, they must have been in cahoots, plotting to kill the monarch on a peaceful state visit, which is grounds for instant removal and incorporation of this sector into the Imperial core. Polaris descended down to the ground alongside the Namekian, listening to what the man had to say to him. Despite what had just taken place between them, he was now praising the Emperor, denouncing the ineffectiveness of the old Galactic Patrol and confirming that he never had plans to actually usurp the Imperial throne. In response, Polaris cracked a smirk, slightly snickering, and replied: " I could tell from the start. You never seemed adamant in trying to usurp my throne, your act would have been much different otherwise." I mean, come on, flying up to the monarch without even a single person backing you up and demanding a duel for the throne? Only Saiyans would think that this is how leadership changes hands. " Your insights are absolutely correct, however. I'm a little flattered, even - compliments of my rule from third parties are not easy to find. They can't realize that this anarchic galaxy always needed a shot of iron-fisted rule." The Namekian's other proposal was even more interesting. Recruiting him to join the Imperial Army? With such a high power level, he would certainly be a useful asset. After the loss of both Cepelin and Kugel, former against the Valkyries and latter during the coup, the Empire hasn't had a high number of powerful martial artists since, patching up that hole with mercenaries like Sly . Kusubu was getting there, but the Empire needed power now, not a few years down the line. " Isn't that quite a change of heart after killing thousands of people a minute ago?" Polaris spoke and then snickered again. The Namekian was right - he could easily replace a thousand Ultramarines without a problem. So who cares about the loss of a few grunts when you receive such an important asset? " The Empire is always looking for talent like yours, so consider yourself approved. I do have something to ask, though..." " ...I've never caught your name. Or who you are." (515 words) Defensive Phase

"I do not go out of my way to kill the weak. I get no pleasure from it. However, I also will not hold back against someone as powerful as yourself. That would have even been a bigger mistake. It is after all their own fault for not having trained enough to survive our power."Lute looked around at the smoking ruin in the center of the city. It was hard for him to feel remorse, or regret. There may have been children among the lost, and that always irked him a little. Because, a child still had the potential to gather strength. They had a choice they could make, and could walk the path of supremecy. Yet again, he had been desperate not to have his own existence wiped away by Polaris's attack. Unfortunately for dead children among them, he was very selfish. "I am Lute of the Demon Clan. I must admit to you one thing, Emperor. I am no foot soldier or space policeman. If you search the Galactic Patrol data-banks you'll find a record of my work as an assassin for hire. But, my aspirations have grown beyond killing for money. I used it as a means to seek challenge and seldom found it. Now I hunt fore greater purpose. I wish to become vassal beneath you, a banner-man you call upon when you march to war. I am hunting for hidden city among the stars called Hollow. I will conquer it as my own and its resources too will be at your full disposal."CURRENT PL: 204,775 HP: 1/70 | KI: 64/115 | DEF: 70 | DMG DIE: d12 | ACC: +40 Legume

Emperor of the Galaxy Lute of the Demon Clan. A mercenary, assassin for hire. However, he has found a different purpose in life, hunting for a hidden city called Hollow, among other things. And now he was swearing fealty to Polaris. Well, what else can you say? A very valuable asset coming up to you and surrendering to you with few questions asked and a slight warm-up fight is not an opportunity one could just dismiss. This wasn't even the first time Polaris had accepted someone with their own goals in mind to work under him. After all, didn't Kusubu say something about wishing to return to the Demon Realm and requesting Polaris to lend his strength to her there? The Frost Demon didn't ever plan to actually fulfill that purpose - not when she was a mere grunt, at least - but the precedent was there. " You have picked the right faction to serve, Lute of the Demon Clan." Polaris spoke and nodded. Indeed, just imagine what would have happened if Lute instead offered his services to Queen Radia, or Lord Snow, at least before the fall of the Frieza Force? This is a warrior who needed Polaris's Fifth Form Transformation to be taken down, mind you. His Empire didn't have much in the way of fighting beings of this caliber - at least until the Imperial clone army program yields any fruit instead of just giving them a bunch of duds... So, it's a good thing to attract the Namekian to his side. " It would be best to move this somewhere else, though, or even say goodbyes to each other for now. The last thing I want is this planet piling up on both of us. Not that their armed forces would be any more than a nuisance... but I would prefer to keep this planet alive for its resources." Lute's keen hearing picked up the buzzing sound of camera drones. No doubt the local authorities coming to investigate. Without even looking, he pointed one his long nailed fingers and fired a bead of ki from it. The shot pegged drone, knocking out of the sky. It fell with a streaming tail of black smoke. Glancing left and right, he nodded. "You have earned my loyalty Emperor. But, the next time we meet, I will earn your respect. After I find the city Hollow and conquer it, I will invite you for a tour. I am a lone asset at your disposal right now. But, I intend to expand what I can offer exponentially."Sometimes doing things at a whim without careful planning ended up being a foolish decision. Other times, it was the right decision. Today had proven the latter. Lute had been a loner for most of his life. He had kept to the shadows as he clung to his dream for a better future, but took few steps towards it. With allies like Kuueru and Polaris, he could gain leaps and bounds in of power and far quicker. However, with some with influence and prominence, he could plant the seed so that so many others join him. Ah, an army of mortals rising up against the gods. That would be a truly marvelous day.His aura flared around him once again and he took off into the sky like a purple comet. Despite his grievous injuries, he was feeling even more motivated now. And, he had a lot to do. CURRENT PL: 204,775 HP: 1/70 | KI: 64/115 | DEF: 70 | DMG DIE: d12 | ACC: +40 Legume
