“Is this the right stop?” Hoax muttered to himself after having stepped off of the space bus. The question held little purpose for it vainly slipped from the quickly-retreating vessel; vanishing into an unfamiliar green sky. Hoax stood there in black fabrics, leather belt at the waist, gloves, wrapping around his alien feet. It definitely seemed like a flux of combat-ready and ‘I’m-a-travelling-warrior’ in terms of attire.
He was able to discern it was a planet of water. He idled upon a coastal region, mothering star overhead and nearby, a line up of the town’s locals. “Oh, I do think this is where I’m supposed to be after all.”
Even from where he was, Hoax could see damage along the coast. The line ended at a machine each individual at the front happened to be punching, reading the results it was measuring, and then walking off sadly. “And this must be the test to see who is capable enough to take on this bounty.”
“That’s right, tiny,” spoke a large, bipedal, green creature with his fists already balled up despite being at the back of the line. Hoax shuffled in behind him, to which he heard a snort born of a complete and utter lack of faith, but nothing more. The hulking being just turned back around and resumed enduring his wait.

“Damnit!” One man hollered after failing to succeed in the tribulation. Some people in the line-up laughed and heckled him while he indulged a walk of shame across the coast from whence he came. Instead of laughing at him, the half-saiyan maintained a relatively vacant expression while her golden eyes acknowledged that her turn had come. The attention once set on the failure before her relocated to her, and the heckling persisted. Not only did they comment about her being a girl, but her small frame and how she had no business being there. In spite of their ridicule, she donned a garb that made her status as some variety of bounty hunter blatant. Ignoring them with a casual smile spread across her face, she trained her eyes on the machine before her. Rolling her shoulder and cracking her neck to each side, she released the suppression she firmly fixed around her power. The people behind her grew white as a sheet and substituted malice with confusion. Before they could comment further or double check their scouters, those very devices exploded when the rebel made a firm statement, her expression sobering. “KAIO-KEN...!”A crimson aura exploded into place around her as she unleashed her battle cry, raising and vaporizing the sand around her. Blinking forward, she threw her fist forward in a straight left that reduced the sound barrier to shambles. Her fist collided with the machine and crumpled it like a feeble can of coke. It skid across the ocean, causing a biblical divide in the titanic body of water before it would burst into a localized cyclone of light and metal. “ATTACK!” -- Hoax

Hoax could only think to himself about the rowdiness of the encompassing mishmash of aliens. He scratched at the top of his head, rubbed at his chin and shoke with the disgorging power spilling out in all directions. “What was that?” he asked to nobody in particular, shuffling sideways just enough to peer around those in front of him. He had to watch afterwards as the machine used to gauge the hopefuls’ strengths flew into the sea, parting it as it did.
It seemed as if the test was over. The lizard person sitting next to the machine was frozen in a mix of surprise and fright for his own self-preservation. He got up, snapped up and called to everybody in line, “...The test is over! It has been decided!” He turned to her.
“...Whatever you did, it should be enough. One of the merfolk out in the ocean have been sending tidal waves at us and a lot of others. Nobody knows what they want, but we can’t be rebuilding all these houses and things every week... “
“Cipher?” questioned a voice from behind a patch of scattering crowd. A surprised Hoax stood there, to which the lizard started to move in to shoe him away.
“Actually, this is who will fulfil my request. I don’t need anyone else.”

Akin to a snuffed candlewick, the sanguine aura encompassing her lithe frame wavered and diminished in the wake of her powerful strike. Placing a hand on her hips, she watched the disturbed water’s course with her head tilted to the side, pursing her lips and producing a sharp cat call-like whistle in admiration of her handiwork. Following her gesture, she heard the reptile man finally speak the magic words she enthusiastically awaited. While she listened to the alien speak about the rabid merfolk, she briefly wondered what they did to earn the ire of the aquatics. She did not vent the question in the end; money was a money, and nobody paid her to ask questions. Before her response came, she heard a familiar voice. Surprise doused her face, her brow raised while she directed her attention towards the sapphire koalajin previously obscured by a now dispersing amalgamation of hopefuls. Her golden eyes lit up for a moment, only for the pleasant look to dissipate when the lizard started to shoe him away. Her brow furrowed, and malice broadened her lips into a knavish crescent. A bullet of green energy instantly burned a hole into the patch of sand next to the lizard, a warning shot; the hole was deep enough to grant a look at the molten crust of the planet they stood upon. The culprit—Cipher—stood with her forefinger and middle forming a makeshift gun. “Actually, this is my friend and he’s with me. I’d suggest you prepare payment for two if you want your little problem fixed.”-- Hoax

“O-Oh! Okay.” The lizardfolk looked to Hoax, nodded, and then disappeared into the homey building adjacent. Hoax was slightly shaken, visibly so, but nothing to suggest he’d just suffered a traumatic event. The warning burst of ki even caught him off guard and after looking towards the hole it had carved out of the ground, he was lucky such a thing was not aimed at him instead.
He cleared his throat. “Hello! It’s been a little while since we last spoke.” Hoax was so excited, he had actually thrown his tiny little arms up overhead. Realizing what he seemed to consider too grant a display of his fervour, he pulled them back down to their respective sides. “That was definitely a display you gave in regards to that machine! I’m not sure I remember you habouring that amount of power. I spent so much time training sense than, but only succeeded in changing my approach to combat. I fear I probably did not progress very much, if it all.”
His eyes darted about the ground as he found himself held captive within a moment of self-reflection. “Oh, yes; but I suppose right now, we’re off to take care of that troublesome merfolk.”

”Cheers.” Cipher said with a tepid wave, dismissing the lizardfolk who heeded her warning and retreated into a nearby abode. Working as a mercenary for a large portion of her life jaded the saiyan to these exchanges between clients and herself. After a number of unpleasant experiences, she chose to exclude pleasantries, keeping pragmatic and straight to business. However, when it came to her actual friends, she tended to warm up. Much akin to that frothing molten opening she shot into the ground moments ago. ”Well, first let me tell you that it’s cool seeing you again. I may like taking on my merc work solo most of the time, but I don’t mind bending the rules for a buddy—a competent one at that,” Laughing dryly, she turned an eye skyward. ”Take enough beatings, you’re bound to learn a couple new tricks. I’ve been adapting to the work as it gets harder and harder.” She lead her gaze towards her sheathed weapon. At first glance, it appeared to be a sword; though its shape and properties were concealed under the dense layer of onyx lacquer. Directing her attention towards the water, which still was in the process of settling from her caustic disturbance earlier, she furrowed her brow while her lips curled into a nonchalant smile. “Alright, Hoax. I didn’t catch too much information on the whereabouts of these folk. Are they just under water? That may pose an issue if we don’t catch a pair of fins ourselves.”-- Hoax

Hoax tapped a koalaty claw to his chin as he contemplated. There was something hiding under the water that they needed to get to. A moment of this passed and then the blue being sat down on the ground. He pressed the pads of his feet together and closed his eyes. While it appeared that his contemplation had transitioned to meditation, it was more an expansion of his sensitivities towards the life signatures of others. Abruptly, his eyes opened and he stood back up.
“I’ve come to a conclusion,” Hoax stated. He rose his arm to the side and sprawled his fingers apart. A ball of white flickered into existence, pulsed with vigor as a subtle flexing of his arm ensued. With a burst of air sweeping his immediate surroundings, the ball of energy was cast forth. It disappeared into the water, its glow swallowed by the deep, blue surface and eventually, a quake. The waves lashed at the shores, to which Hoax’s eyes narrowed in expectation.
“Worth it…” He sighed as he caught wind of a few screams. Out came a small, blue creature. Its head was addorned in tentacles and its body in a golden armour, but sparse it was.
“Who DARES?!” The creature cried, looking about for the source of the attack. A seagreen aura flared up all around the four-foot creature. The cries intensified as some seemed to recognize him.

Cipher watched with growing curiosity Hoax’s actions, right up until the point where he jettisoned a pristine white conflagration deep into the murky depths before them. ”Oh?” An amused tone present in her voice while she watched the effects that ensued, the smirk splitting her countenance spreading wide as she got the cue of what was unraveling before her. Rather than venturing into what may have been a watery death, they would use their power to smoke their adversaries out of the ocean. Naturally, Hoax’s efforts bore fruit and she witnessed an eccentric tentacled creature emerge from under. “You must be the one, eh?” The saiyan asked, curling her tail around her waist in belt-like fashion. Narrowing eyes filled with malice and desire to get rid of a problem that had been blighting the inhabitants of this planet, she slowly drew the blade kept within the sheath bordering her hip. A metallic screech reverberated through the air, before a familiar red aura exploded around her frame, encompassing her in a deranged sanguine light. Fissures crept into the ground around her while her power escalated to a level that caused the very planet itself to tremble in her wake. Clutching the hilt of her sword with a grip that threatened to shatter its very foundation, she assumed a defensive posture with the tip of her blade facing their enemy over-shoulder. “I think I’m in the mood for some seafood today!”-- Hoax

“MY POWER IS OVERFLOWING!”
The high-pitched voice possessed, seemingly, another alongside it. Its attention upon the two was lacking outside of knowing of their presence and defiance. And already, the blue creature was in front of Cipher preparing a mighty kick. It was once somewhat distant, but no longer. At some point, it had moved. No mortal eye could see these movements.
What could its power level even be?
“Twenty-five hundred,” Hoax muttered to himself as he easily followed the blue-skinned sea-being from its point A to its point B. “Sizable!” Hoax’s eyes widened as he spoke. His words seemed genuine. They were the truth. It just was not sizable to those with a higher degree of potential - but for the local area? It was pretty good by comparison.
Hoax’s own attention was not upon the happens adjacent to him, but just with the energy measuring device. It was obvious that the being was unfamiliar with the concept of sensing one’s battle power - completely and utterly. He definitely missed the kick it attempted to throw. Whether or not it was able to throw that attack uninterrupted was up for debate.
“She’s probably got this,” Hoax said within a hush to himself. He stood idly by.

”Oh...”Was that an air of disappointment ghosting her voice when she watched the creature move towards her? For her, its movements were practically in slow motion while it closed in. While she kept her crimson aura in place, she did not raise it to the pinnacle it could go. At that moment, her power neared eighty-thousand, easily dwarfing the meagre twenty-five hundred before her. Feeling bad for the entity, she simply checked the blow using the flat part of her blade. Not using both hands; she instead raised the blade with her left hand in a lukewarm manner. Pulling back, her leg shot forth. Crack! It could not be seen by the untrained eye, but she delivered a violent blow to its head. In one smooth motion, she brought the tip of her foot just off of the ground, feinting a strike to the gut, before she flicked the limb upward in a head-kick; this attack was commonly referred to as the question mark kick. Her form and everything was sloppy, but she refrained from exerting too much effort. While the attack would certainly render him unconscious, it would not delete him from existence like she very well could have. She put her sword back into the sheath and then let out a drawn-out sigh. “Well, show’s over, folks. Give us our money.”-- Hoax
