Dain was just sitting in his office aboard the big Gete Star. A fresh cup of steaming coffee was sitting on his desk and a box of sausages was standing next to it. In front of him was a screen with all kinds of information regarding the Ravagers. Most of it was good news. Recently their ranks and exploits had been growing due to the effort of Sly and Dain. Although he also had o put some of the credit into the Gete Star and the scientists working it. Albeit it was a work in progress, every captain that docked got their ship overhauled or replaced. Sometimes replacing two hundred year old flying carcasses. He even saw Ravagar ships that were in such poor shape that half the ship was inoperatable because of hull breaches and failure of the life support system. Furthermore there was now a proper training ground and with new recruits drawn from all kind of planets, most captains were finally flying around with a full complement. Dain knew it was a breach of protocol from the old ways where it was usually every captain for himself. He was too much a soldier at heart though and the reorganization was the first thing he had done. Of course there were those old fashioned captains who refused aid in general and stuck to their old ways. Flying around in an old rust bucket with a crew Dain would never be seen around. However despite all the new organization the golden rule of the Ravagers remained total freedom, so there was nothing he could or wanted to do about them. As a matter of fact they usually had the best drinking stories and he did appreciate it when they did come in. Of course there was also the fact that if he wanted to enforce it he would have a problem as well. His ship only housed a handful of cooks and an AI. He officially did not have any soldiers, captain or proper crew aboard. What interested him the most right now was a report of a mysterious room they had found. It seemed to contain some kind of power stations, but was currently turned off and they had not been able to turn it on just yet. It was the fun fact about the Gete Star. Despite housing tens of thousand soldiers and scientists, who all worked around the clock, they had only explored 0.09% of the entire star and much of it´s innards and workings were still completely unknown. What was even weirder was that the star still seemed to keep expanding over time and some times they found completely new rooms that were not there the day before. It was generally interesting, yet also a royal pain in the gluteus maximus. Recently they had suffered several waves of attacks from robots that came from somewhere outside their known sphere. The best they could figure out it was an automated response and defense from the star, but they did not know the how or why of it. Orginally he had intended to take Thast and explore the threat to shut them down. It would have been a great way to see his pupil and friend in action. Yet know there was a different threat and he intended to go there the moment Thast arrived. Normally he would undertake such a mission himself, however he knew the creatures they were up against and needed the back up. Plus if the survived, it would be great training for Thast. Speaking of the devil… Just at the moment he received word that the new ship was reporting back in. The name was unfamiliar, but he recognized the design and captain all too well. It was his star pupil Thast, finally joining them on board as a full fledged Ravager. Dain just hoped it meant all the stuff the man had to do on Earth was finished, as he intended to drag the man into a rather dangerous situation. It was not the mission he had intended for the two of them, nor was Thast his first choice. This was so serious he had tried hailing his buddy Sly, but the raccoon had either been busy or out of communications range. In any case Thast was a good second and perhaps the only one he knew who he wanted next to him. He just hoped the human warrior had been training, as he was going to need it. “Welcome Thast, I am glad to see you have made it. I hope everything is resolved on Earth.” He said friendly, just after opening up the communications channel. “By the way, the space ship that will come into view in a few minutes is the Gete Star. Hope you like it.” He said with a grin, just as he reached for a small device in one of his drawers. It was an adaptation of a scouter, allowing him to maintain visual contact as he roamed over the ship, or in this case star. “I have reserved docking bay seven hundred sixtheen for you, docking section C. I will meet you there.” He said as he got up from his chair, reached for a small metal flask and a package of his black cigarettes from the bottom drawer of his mahogany desk, before walking towards the door. Once outside he used the contraption to follow Thasts ship through the stars sensors, while using the other half to contact Petey. It was a short conversation, followed by the latest Intel on the threat it was monitoring. As he was walking through the corridors made completely out of metal, he perused through several documents. All in all nothing seemed to be changing, except from a bit of the exterior. Though in all fairness, it was probably more likely that the buggers had found a way to subvert the scanners. They were crafty little buggers after all. With a sigh he took the device of and continued walking through the corridors to reach the nearest transportation platform. On the way he met several other captain, whom he greeted and just before he reached the platform he was looking for he reached inside his pocket. From it he drew the first, but certainly not the last, of his black cigarettes and lit it, just as he stepped on. Even if the docking bay he had selected was the closest to his office, it was still several hundred miles away, so transportation was the fastest way to get there. By the time he appeared in the docking bay he was just in time to witness the battle cruiser enter and land. Even for him it was still always impressive to see a kilometers long ship dock right in front of him and he could not help but whistle as it´s nose slid slowly past him. A moment later the magnetic clamps extended and onto the ship, bringing it to a final and safe halt. “Welcome Thast. I hope your new ship is to your liking and you had a good flight.” He said enthusiastically as he led his pupil to a nearby office where a selection of drinks and food were present. He had it arranged for the two of them and as he opened the door he was pleasantly surprised. On his order the foods were freshly flown in from Earth or synthasized to resemble Earth food. Now Dain was sure that Thast probably was not a picky eater, but he had decided not to bombard the Earthling on his first trip away from Earth with the delicacies space had to offer. Now it had to be said that Earth had some excellent cooking, perhaps the most varied and all rounded in the universe. However there were delicacies out there, like the Grnmsziks bloodied wurm mud bowl hat were simply exquisite. So he was happy when the smell of freshly brewed croissants and italian coffee entered his nose. He quickly grabbed a plate, filled it with several fresh buns and croissants. He motioned Thast to do the same, before walking towards the coffee machine and pour him a cup of italian deluxe roast. Off course as a Saiya-Jin he was bit greedy and poured himself half a liter, before walking towards the table he had setup for them. “Okay so tell me, how have you been? Everything resolved on Earth and have you been training regularly?” He asked with a full mouth as he was chewing on a croissant he had buttered up and then filled to the brim with sugar, causing the sweetness to fill his mouth. -Huray for Saiya-Jin biology and not getting fat or pickles- As he listened to Thast he took a sip of his coffee and shuddered. He quickly put down the mug, reached inside his pocket and pulled out the small silver flask. With a practiced move he unscrewed the cap, poured a bit of the brown liquid into the mug, quickly tasted and poured in a bit more. With a smile on his face he clacked his tongue and screwed the cap back on his flask, before returning it into his pocket and taking a big sip of his coffee. Irish style! There Thast sat, in the captain's chair of his new war crusher. Finding a name for the ship would be tricky, he had been pondering over what he should call it for the past day, but nothing seemed to come to mind. Luckily for him, he had a couple of friends aboard who were more creative. The situation on earth ended in a strange, yet interesting manner, and it was very convenient for Thast and Dain. The organization he once worked for had decided to disband after their last operation. Most of the military personnel who worked along side Thast decided to be absorbed by the Earth's military, but two of them decided to stay with Thast. These two were a brother and sister pair of androids. Dynamo, was the older brother and a mechanics expert, he was the guy who designed all the weapons before the Red Band disbanded. The other was CPU, the younger sister who had unmatched analytical abilities. For the purposes of his crew, Dynamo was named head engineer and his sister was made head navigator. It was thanks to these two that the ship was named "The Enlightenment" after Thast's own personality. Now that he was free to roam and train where he pleased, there would be few who could match his combat prowess. Except for the likes of Sly and Dain of course. Though the earthling had never seen sly before, he had heard stories from some of the other crewmen that Dain had brought on. A man turned into a racoon, but retained his physical power. Now that was a story. Thast did have his own however, but now would not be the time to explain it. The young captain had finally received a message from his master after the two weeks had passed. It was finally time to come to the Big Gete star. Perhaps it would be for the training Dain had promised. The earthling would be extremely excited at the notion of further training. The last time he and Dain had fought, his power level was only in the four thousand range, almost reaching five thousand. This time it would be a completely different story, as his power level was nearly thirty thousand now. He did hope to impress his master with such vast improvements in a short time period. Thast would stand up from his chair and begin to stretch. As he cracked his knuckles he would give the orders "Pilots, we have orders to head to base at the Big Gete Star. Lets not keep master Dain waiting. Plot a course on the double!" all sorts of crewmen would begin to dash into position as Thast dispatched the orders. This new position of power felt good to him, but at the same time he didn't want to feel tyrannical. The dark one would speak to him on this matter, "Oh yes, this is fantastic. You have something to call you own, a warship with nearly no equal in the galaxy. But why stop at one? We should build a fleet and conquer this black expanse..." at this point Yin would chime in "Yes, yes, we've heard it all before. You just want him to accomplish great things, so you can take control of his body again! Well, I say we remain content with what we have." This would be the question for the young man, ambition or stability? He would not be able to answer this at the moment, but perhaps later. After a few minutes of lightspeed travel, Thast's warcrusher would reach the Big Gete Star. The earthling, and two androids next to him had never seen anything like it. Even still he would try to ask Dynamo "What kind of ship is that?" the android would look it up and down to respond, "It might be a space station... or a small moon. I guess that's why its called the Big Gete Star..." The warcrusher would then begin to slowly dock itself on the massive planet-like station. Next, he would hear Dain's voice over the intercom. "Hey master! Long time no see. Everything turned out ok on earth. I even picked up a couple crew members." Though CPU and Dynamo only had power levels of five hundred each, they were still much stronger than the typical grunts the Ravagers had to offer. Following this Thast would hear Dain mention the Big Gete star, "Oh yeah! We caught sight of it on arrival. We're in the process of docking now." He would then try to listen closely to his master's instructions about the docking. "docking bay seven hundred sixtheen, docking section C. Okay, we'll be landing there in that case."Within a matter of minutes, the warship would slowly clamp to the docking bay, and steam would shoot out of the ship's various cervices. "Alright everyone, I'll be gone for some time. Your all free to go on break until I return. Have a nice day crewmen!" With that, the primary door of 'The Enlightenment' would hiss open, and out would walk Thast, looking exactly the same as the day he and Dain had met. "It's great to see you master. This ship is fantastic, I can't wait to see its full capabilities in action."With their introductions out of the way, Dain would begin to take his young student into an office of sorts. What was a surprise to him was the large assortment of food and drinks that the Saiya-jin had procured for his visit. Coffee, and croissants. This was a full earth-style brunch. "Well you really pulled out all the stops." He said as he poured himself a cup of coffee. The drink had been brewed to perfection. The croissants were fantastic as well, he had not had food this good in a long time. His master then asked him the question had had been waiting to answer. Had Thast been training? Certainly. The earthling would give his master a bit of a chuckle explaining "Have I been training? I had hoped you would ask that question master. You'll find I'm currently six times stronger then when we first sparred!" Thast would say this with much pride, slowly but surly he was catching up to his master. But he had a very long road to travel. Thast decide to ask the question of the day, "So master, what do you have planned for today? More training?"

(OOC: if you are not familiar, feel free to look up the lore from Stargate SG1, regarding Replicators) Dain was in fact pleasantly surprised when he saw his pupil. Not only did Thast look as sharp as ever, he could already tell the man was stronger. Much stronger than when they had last met. However to have guessed the man was five times stronger then before… Dain let out an approving nod and whistle. “That is very impressive indeed.” He said, giving words to one of his rare compliments. At this rate the man was quickly entering the top hundred of Ravager captains in raw strength and he might soon be strong enough to give Dain somewhat of a challenge. Even the prospect was enough to get him all energized and a part of him wanted to take Thast up on his question. He had actually prepared a series of exercises to hone the man´s control of KI. Several were based on mere flight, evasion and rapid movement, but he also had intended to teach Thast the basics of controlling released blasts. It was not an easy thing to do, in general energy attacks tended to do in a straight line, but there was a way to bend them. If Thast could master that it would be quite the step in the right direction. “Sadly no. A situation has arisen that needs to be taken care of and I was wondering if you could join me. Currently our two ships are probably the only ones who can get near it. It happened as we were building your ship, so we adapted a few secrets from the Atrioch in the design.” Dain said as he held up his hand and summoned a small device out of thin air. It was a small trick he picked up from a Kai a long time ago. It was an advantage of living too long. Dain had a tendency to pick up tricks as he went and by now he almost had a full deck hidden upon his sleeves. A moment after having summoned it, gravity got a hold of the small device and it fell harmless in Dain´s open hand. With a few quick movements he entered the password and then pressed the upper corner of the screen, causing the device to expand into a proper size tablet. The data he wanted had already been preloaded and he turned the device towards Thast. As he talked he kept pressing the side of the screen, to load the appropriate pictures. “This is the Methodian Warcruiser that was commanded by Ravager captain Bartho. Now roughly two weeks ago we got a distress call. I went to investigate and found it floating in space. At first everything seemed okay, until we picked up one of these crawling across the hull. I don´t know if you know what it is, though even if you do, let me tell you that you are probably wrong. These mechanical spiders are perhaps the most severe threat out there to all sentient life. Unlike demons, mortals or kai´s, these creatures have no weak points, no compassion, nothing they want or can be distracted with. All they want to do is replicate and keep doing so. It seems to be their only directive and they do so, regardless of any mortal life in their path. We call them replicators. We have no idea where they came from and so far we managed to beat them back every time. However they have an aptness for technology we can´t match and every time we meet them they tend to be stronger. This time they have somehow adapted Bartho´s ship to the point were my ship can´t touch them. We have no clue how or what they did to it, but they have been busy and our guess is that once they are done with the ship, they will move to the next planet rich with resources.” He said as he showed the final picture of the ship they had managed to capture. In a way it looked nothing like the original ship. It somehow seemed to have shrunk in size and the bugs had made many adaptations it seemed. Dain refrained from mentioning the fact that picture was over ten days old. At some point the bugs must have done something as suddenly they did not show up anymore on any of the Atriochs sensors. They currently had no idea how the ship looked like or what was happening. According to the sensors on board the atrioch and the other ships in the near, it was as if there was a black hole in space. “Sadly the nearest planet rich in any minerals is probably Earth. We have already alerted the Earth navy, but truth be told, it will probably be a massacre. So I want to go on a mission to blow up the ship from the inside.” He said with a grin, as he knew fully well how dangerous this mission was. The trouble with these bloody replicators was that they somehow seemed to share a connected mind. The scientist believed something about subspace communications or something. That means that every time they absorbed new technology, the entire race learned it. Last time they had even managed to erect shields capable of deflecting energy blasts. Of course so far they were beaten back every time, due to the exploits of heroic humans and Saiya-Jin. Yet this time… he believed it better to neglect the fact that their ships survived a fully powered Final Flash from him. It did manage to do some damage, but it was enough to startle Dain to the core and enough to decide to go on the offensive. “I would like you to go along with me. I am sure it will provide plenty of opportunities to fight, which we can consider training. Our objective would be to destroy the ship from the inside, but not before we can learn more about them. We need to learn where these creatures are coming from and how to stop them, or eventually they will overrun this universe.” He said all too serious, as he put down his croissant, his apetite ruined by the thought. He was personally not shy of entropy, but he hated spiders, especially mechanical ones with no feelings or emotions. He could neither talk with them nor eat them. The thought of these beings winning disgusted him. “So how do you feel about tagging along? I can understand if you decline, but I really would like some company on this one.” He continued in all honest. Perhaps Thast had only been his pupil for a short while, but somehow he trusted the human. At least enough to be able to handle himself well enough and provide back-up. Especially since this probably was not going to a cake walk, even for him. Luckily they had one ace up their sleeves. It seemed that despite everything these creatures were capable of, good old fashioned swords and projectile weapons seemed to work surprisingly well. Dain seemed pleased with the earthling's progress, this was a rare sight. Few things surprised his master after all. Thast only hoped that the next time they met up he would be even stronger to further please Dain. That was when his master properly informed him on the situation. It seemed this would be no training session, but some sort of bad situation. What was so important that he would need Thast as extra muscle for? If he called him in, the Saiya-jin must have felt that he could not handle the situation by himself. This would surprise him a little. The threat must truly be vast if he was needed. "So, what is 'It' exactly?" the earthling would ask this question to soon be answered by him master. It appeared to be another warcrusher, a former Ravager warcrusher. He had expected this to be a treason situation, but it was something much worse. Apparently some kind of mechanical life form had taken over the ship and over run it's crew! This would be troubling indeed. A species of technology absorbing bugs that would reproduce and consume everything in their wake. This was danger if he ever did see it. Though he was unfamiliar with the vial creatures, Dain seemed to know a good bit about them. Perhaps he had experience in the past. This would just make the job easier. The earthling would simply continue to listen until his master made a remark that struck a cord with him. The nearest planet to that ship was earth, a place Thast wanted to defend with an undying passion. This would be his chance to save his world for the very first time. It would be an offer that was too good to refuse. "This is bad, but I'd do anything to save the planet from destruction! I won't sit idly by while the earth is destroyed by a few bugs." He would crack his knuckles signaling his eagerness to jump into the mission. For Thast, this would be personal. As Dain would ask him if he was in or not, the earthling would give a nod, assuring him "If you don't think I would jump at the chance to save this planet then you'd be crazy master. I don't plan on letting my home world fall that easily." Thast would not consciously do it, but his energy would begin to rise, and power would swell inside of him. He was getting pumped.

It was the response Dain had hoped for. Sure he could have taken an entire battalion of soldier or even the cyborgs from the Gete Star. However he had seen it happen too often before that in such missions the numbers would not matter. They would be going through small corridors, bugs that could walk over the walls, ceiling and in cases even come through the walls. It would have been a slaughter. Now of course the cyborgs were a different story. They were powerful, yet dumb and he feared that if he would take them, the droids could take one out, absorb the technology and in the worst case learn about the big Gete Star. No in this cases it was usually the best… or actually it tended to be always this case; he preferred one hero over an entire division of soldiers. Thast might just be this man, the right hero for the job. Still he hoped it was not too late yet. There were so many variables and those buggers so incredibly smart. At the very least they were going to need to grab some gear. Under the desk was a small hidden button and as Dain pressed it, the fake wall in the office slid open. It revealed the passage to one of the hidden armories they had just discovered last month. Nobody could figure out who made all the equipment in there, but it was huge, well stocked and apparently equipped to suit a myriad of races. “Follow me, let´s stock up.” He said as he got up, stuffed to the brim -which was easy as he already had breakfast, snacks, brunch and an early lunch today- and winked his pupil to follow him. Perhaps it was not their way as martial artists, but sometimes it was good to have some extra gear. So it was to his pleasure to show Thast the armory. It was stocked with almost every conceivable weapon he knew of. Ranging from normal handguns, to variable grenades, power suits and even flash bangs. “I would advice taking low tech weapons that don´t involve energy. Like swords, or old fashion metal propelling guns. In the pest these spider thingies have shown to be extremely good at either deflecting or absorbing energy.” Dain said with a shrug as he walked to a rack containing several earth type guns. Truth be told it was even worse then what he said. They had not even been able to determine what the machines were doing with the energy. Absorbing or deflecting were just a theory. Perhaps they neutralized it, or send it into space through micro wormholes. Their scientists had theories a plenty, but no real leads. He quickly slung a shotgun, two machine guns and a good old fashioned grenade launcher over his back. Next he would throw a crap ton of ammo and grenades in his back pack and pockets, before starting to load up several boxes. “If you want your friends can come and guard our extraction point. I will send two squadrons of elite soldiers as well. Be careful though, these bugs have a tendency to literally eat technology.” Dain said as he lifted up the metal case with ease and then pressed a button on his wrist. It merely signaled the troops on stand bye to get ready. “Okay the teleporting room is just next door. When you are ready, just join us. Using the massive energy generated by the Gete Star and a fully operational ZPM, we are literally going to punch a hole through their defenses and teleport directly on board the bridge. From there we will stay undetected as long as possible.” He said as he grabbed two more grenades and a few clips of ammo before departing to the room next door. He would give Thast all the time they needed as he briefed the soldiers. Still… for the first time in a long time Dain was actually nervous and excited. A rare treat for the Saiya-Jin indeed. He just hoped Thast would be ready for this. Though he was willing to bet his pupil was ready. Thast Rowens | Word Count: 705 | Total Word Count: 2,700 + 705 = 3,405

Thast was socked, the wall he had been sitting a few feet from was a secret passage way the whole time. This Big Gete star was more mysterious then he had even though. Where did Dain acquire such a remarkable piece of technology? Thast had never seen something like it before, at least not back on earth. The galaxy was a big place, perhaps this is why Dain had sent him to train in it. He would learn new things, see new sights, and get some great training out of it too. The earthling would stand up and grin as Dain explained exactly what this path lead to. An armory. Though the way Thast dressed made it look as though he was a traditional martial artists who would detest the use of technology, this could not be further from the truth. Thast had been a former member of earth's military and even worked with a paramilitary rebel cell in the past. He was well acquainted with the use and operations of firearms and explosives. "Stock up huh? Where to begin"
The earthling would eye the wall of weapons up and down as Dain explained how the bug-like creatures absorbed energy. This must have been why the two of them needed to use conventional fire arms to fight them off. It made sense in theory, the two just needed to test it. One thing Thast had always wanted to try ever since he gained his super human strength was wielding two long arms at once! Usually, a machine gun required two hands because of it's massive kick, but at this point Thast could bench press skyscrapers. His sheer muscle mass would be enough to ignore the effects of the kickback. Coming upon this realization, he would take two assault rifles down from the wall along with several clips of ammunition. This would be a good start, but he needed something in case he ran out of firepower. Next to the various arms was a traditional katana blade, which he would take down and strap around his waist. Thast had always wanted to try one of those out! "Alright, I think these should be enough. I'd assume we want to avoid direct contact as well if they absorb ki correct? They could suck the energy right out of our bodies otherwise."
Thast, now fully armed, would begin to stretch and prepare for the battle to come. Dain had asked if he wanted to bring his friends along as well. They could prove useful, and as long as they were on the warcrusher they wouldn't directly be in harms way. Thast saw no problem with it. Besides, if something went south it would be good to have the extra fire power around. Though they wanted to take the ship in one piece, but if there was no other option, blasting it to bits would probably work. "Yeah, I think the crew would like to come along. They would be pretty good as covering our escape if the plan went south. Besides, they're capable combatants... Well most of them."
Thast would soon follow Dain into the teleportation room. It was quite a curious thing, teleportation technology was quite uncommon back on earth. It was even uncommon in outer space for that matter, but this would be slightly different. They would be transported directly to the bridge of the corrupted ship, and would have to keep their guards up. Thast was excited to say the least, he hadn't gotten to utilize his military training in ages! If all things went according to plan, he may even surprise Dain with a few new fancy moves!

“Oh you look good in that.” Dain said with a grin as he clacked his tongue when Thast walked in. Then he turned back to the group and waited for Thast and his cyborgs to fall in. “Okay we now what we are up against. A nigh invincible enemy of technobugs. They are self replicating, self learning and can reform or adapt themselves as needed. Don´t underestimate them, we have seen them adapt engines far beyond the original build, performing feats we can´t explain even today. However… we hope to have found a weak spot.” Dain said with a grin as he clicked the button in his hand an a projector jumped on, projecting a gigantic mechanical spider in some cargo room, seemingly assembling a new replicator. “They might have a queen it seems.” Dain said with a grin as he enlarged the image and put several layers in place, revealing a normal sized replicator at the heart. It was their only hope, to somehow capture that bug and study it. There were plenty of problems, like a dead man´s switch, rendering the bug inert once captured. However they had to try! “We will teleport onto the bridge of the infested ship. There we will setup a perimeter. We use auto turrets for the outer perimeter and you guys will form the inner perimeter. Use mines, explosives, anything you can think of to keep that the bridgehead clear of bugs. Me and Thast will try to locate that queen and make a dash for it. As long as it is clear, Petey can beam us directly on board the ship.” He said seriously, before pausing briefly as he stared everything directly into the eyes. “However if it falls, so does our extraction. We will be forced to try to destroy the ship from the outside with everything we got. -Yes Mego, with us inside.- So keep it clear and we can all go home.” He said dead serious as he pressed the button again. The projector faded and suddenly the room began to buzz slightly. The lights flickered for a moment and then an intense pain shot through Dain´s body, as if it was being torn apart at a molecular level. For a moment it felt as if he was about to die, when suddenly the lights in the room flickered briefly and then they suddenly were on a bridge. The room was ghastly at best. All the wall showed signs of being eaten and some liquefied metal seemed to droop from the places where the bugs were eating. At first they did not seem to notice them, but as the teleport finished and the remainder of the energy dissipated, suddenly all of them turned towards the intruders as one. The mechanical clicking was eary to say the least. For a brief moment there was only silence and then they moved as one. From all sides, even from the sealing the spiders began to crawl out and towards them. Metal feet quickly clicking over the floor, their joints softly wearing with every movement. Dain counted forty six in the moment, though he could already see the bugs pouring out from the corridor. He held up his hand, signaling everyone to freeze as he drew a hand gun and raised his other hand up as well. Simultaneously he released an energy blast and three shots, both to different targets. The Saiya-Jin waited for the result as both attacks shot forward. He had agreed with Petey that if neither worked they were out of options and the assault would commence directly. Something he had willingly neglected to tell from anyone else. The energy blast connected first. He had put in enough power to destroy a small mountain, but all it did as it connected was explode with a soft fizzle and knock the replicator back a few yards. For a moment the energy rippled through the mechanical spider like a glow, before it completely faded out. It was as he had feared. They somehow had managed to make themselves completely impervious towards energy attacks. Luckily a moment later the other replicator spat into dozens of tiny pieces as the metal bullet from his hand gun hit the main body and the kinetic force overwhelmed the bonds between the separate blocks. “Everyone, clear the room and secure it. Watch the ceiling, floors and walls. These buggers can penetrate everything” He bellowed as he lowered his hand, signaling the troops to move, while releasing several shots towards the spiders. “Thast follow me!” He said with a grimace on his face has he reached for his shotgun and began charging towards the only corridor leading towards the breach. His gun firing to fast it seemed like a continuous shot. Replicators were exploding into tiny pieces as he made a path through them. For a moment it seemed like a war movie. Sentry turrets began deploying, adding new muzzles of fire towards that of the marines. The shots echoed through the hull, as gun powder exploded, propelling tiny pieces of metal everywhere. “Shall we go left or right?” Dain asked over the all the noise, as they were approaching a T crossing. As Thast stepped into the chamber for the briefing he would eye the cybernetic soldiers wondering what made them tick. The all appeared to be grizzled warriors who were capable of precise executions and combat, but at the same time weren't they half-machine too? Would the mechanical creatures not try to feed off of them too? Unless the men were using themselves as live bait. Anyway he looked at it, it would just seem dangerous. The earthling would fall in line as Dain began to explain the situation to them all. Their target was a queen, likely the source of the infestation, and perhaps the mother of all these wretched beasts. It made sense that they would have a queen, it would explain how the multiplied so quickly. The more his master explained the situation the more he realized the plan. It was a simple hit-and-run mission. Get in, kill the queen, and get out. All they had to do was not get surrounded by the creatures, and they would have a clean extraction point Via teleportation. Thast would give a slight nod as the briefing was colluded, and draw both of his assault rifles as the teleportation beam surrounded them all. This beam was something he had never felt before, his molecules would separate and he would feel as though the three souls withing him were about to fade to other world. That was until he opened his eyes to see he wasn't on the Big Gete Star anymore. Instead they were on the bridge of the corrupted warship. Clicking, clanging, and sawing could be heard all around. They were exactly as Dain had described, bloody monsters. Thast would watch his master throw several bolts of energy into the surrounding area attacking one of the spider-like creatures with deadly force. The attack had hit for sure, but the creature seemed to be unaffected by it! Things were not looking good, until Thast noticed the bullet that penetrated one of them. It seemed conventional weaponry was the way to go against them. If that was the case... Thast began to open fire on the hordes of mechanical insects as they approached, wielding two assault rifles at once allowed him to get loads of shots off, and thanks to his environmental awareness given to him by Yin very few of those shots were missing. Eventually, Dain would call him over while the rest of the Ravager thugs were to clear the room. "Okay, lets do this!" Thast would run behind Dain closely, and begin to shoot an anymore bugs he could see. The hallways was long, and reeked of the vermin, but eventually there would be a fork in the road. Dain gave him the chance to decide. would it be right, or left? The spiders didn't have traceable energy signatures, but Thast had a hunch that said they should turn left. "Umm... I'm thinking left, but the queen could be anywhere really. I can't get a read on the energy signature of these things after all."

OOC: the beam thing is a normal transporter beam. Normally completely fine. The replicators however set up defenses and shields to prevent teleporting. Now of course those defenses are pretty good, however as all things, with enough power, you can break anything. In this case it hurt as the gete star had to put enough power into the teleporting sequence to make a small planet wet itself upon seeing the electricity bill. Getting out though will be easier. Part of the package that was delivered was a beacon and scrambler. If powered up at the right time it could disturb the defenses from the inside just long enough for the Atrioch to beam them all out. It is a one trick pony though as the replicators would rapidly adjust. ————————————————————————————————— As they dashed through the corridor, Dain was trying out a few things on the fly. It was not as if they had any proper chance to study the replicators. The last time they had brought one in for study, it escaped and taken over the entire ship. While the buggers were relatively slow, they were almost impossible to kill and produced an acid that melded straight through Katchin that was reinforced with shields. “Okay left it is. Oh and Thast, watch out for their acid. It is their main weapon and will eat through flesh and armor in less then a second.” Dain said as he dashed left, his metal sandals sliding over the ground as he drifted into the corridor. With a click his two hand guns told him they were empty, so he tossed them with enough forced to impair a replicator for a moment as it reassembled itself. From his back he pulled the automated shot gun gun and continued his dash, going left and right on instinct, fighting their way through the hoards of Replicators. Then suddenly they found themselves in a large empty room. Or at least it seemed to be empty at first glance. As the two of them slid to a halt, relieved to finally have a room without bugs, they barely noticed the door behind them closing. A dim light went on, giving them just enough light to see some shapes. What they saw surprised them. In the middle of the room was a small tower shaped device and around them were several bodies lying. Most of the bodies showed signs of injury, yet also of medical care. Cut of arms hand been bound and the most severe injuries fixed up as well as possible. Yet it seemed that despite all the care, most of the bodies were dead. “This must have been the original crew.” Dain said to Thast as he walked to the nearest body and checked for a pulse. Nothing. The next one was the same. Then suddenly he heard a soft moan, some movement, followed by some louder groaning. “See if you can find any survivors. Particularly if any are still coherent enough to talk. We need information!” Dain said decisive as he motioned Thast to go left, as he went right. Carefully checking all the bodies. So far everyone was dead, but he could still hear the muffled sounds, so he kept going. What bothered him though was the reason these man died. As far as he could tell, their injuries were grave, but not life threatening. It was as if they simply had died for no good reason. … … … although they were injured on a replicator infested ship, so he did not know how much that no good reason thing was valid. At least medically speaking he believed at least some of these men should have been alive. He was just about half way through, when Thast stumbled upon a survivor. It was a Thoraxian, or what was left of him. It was missing tree of his arms, it´s seeing tentacle was gone and it had a large wound in it´s stomach that was seemingly going sour, judging from the smell. “Help me!” It said with a raspy voice as it´s remaining hand shot up just as Thast passed by, grabbing him by the arm. Given the dangers of the situation, Thast and Dain would have to be quick decision makers. Perhaps that was why he had asked his student to choose one of the two paths, or maybe Dain's gut agree with his own. Either way, his master had decided to head down the left path, and he would follow. As they continued on, more replicators would show up and in even greater numbers. Dain had managed to take down a decent number of them but was running out of ammunition. Firing both rifles into the crowd of metallic arachnids didn't seem to be working too well either. Eventually, he too would run out of rounds and end up ditching his guns by throwing them at the creatures. It wasn't much, but it would distract them. This was the exact reason why Thast had brought the back up weapon, a katana made of some kind of alien alloy. As more bugs would crawl towards him and prepared to spew acid he would slice them to bits with a few slashes of the blade. That would only work for so long though, as more began to appear. "These things are everywhere! I hope we're getting close to the source."The earthling would continue to rush down the halls of the corrupted, and tattered ship until the duo would reach a large room. At just a glance, it appeared to be free of the replicators, but something didn't sit right with him... Upon closer inspection, the place was littered with bodies centered around some sort of rod or tower. They looked to have all taken heavy injuries before dying of some unknown cause. Perhaps a heart attack? Shock wasn't such an uncommon death was it? Dain had then mentioned that they should look for survivors, that would be a good idea. If anyone could tell them something about what happened, it would be a former crewman. Thast would quietly step around the bodies checking their pulses, and trying to sense their ki. Nothing, these men were either dead, or their power levels had dropped so low they were almost dead. He couldn't figure out which one. These men were certainly Ravagers though, their outfits and insignia matched perfectly. Eventually Thast would walk by a body when his leg would suddenly be grabbed! Some sort of alien he had never seen before was asking for his help. How he could help, that was too be determined. He knew little about what was afflicting these people, but that wouldn't stop him. Thast would pick up the being by it's one good arm, and prop him up against the tower. "Calm down. I'm with the Ravagers. We're here to sort this out, I don't know if I can heal you, but maybe Dain can..." Thast would turn to his master asking "Master, do you have any of those Senzu beans on you?" suggesting they use one to revitalize the man. "Now. Tell us what happened here. You can start from the beginning..."

It did not sit well with Dain. There was something wrong with these deaths, he felt like he had seen it before. It also annoyed him that this area was completely free of replicators and why where the lights so dim? His Saiya-Jin eyes and other senses helped him navigate, but the hairs on the back of his neck were standing up. There was something wrong here, but he could not figure out what it was, so for now he dismayed the feeling. Albeit still cautious, he credited the feeling of unease due to the replicators and their threat. When Thast called him over though he forgot for a moment to pay attention and rushed in. He simply nodded, as he sank on one knee next to his pupil and the wounded warrior. It was his last senzu bean, but without hesitation Dain pulled it out, broke it in half and was just about to put the bean into the man´s mouth. Just at that moment though the man´s eyes shot open and he raised a hand as he tried to speak. Instead of words though, blood came rushing out. “Calm down, it will be all right.” Dain said, as he tried to move the man´s hand out of the way and wiped the blood from the corners of his mouth, so he could give the man the senzu bean. Just as he was ready to try again though, the man´s body began to tremble and before Dain could put a senzu bean in his mouth, the man actually managed to get a few words out. “W-watch… O … O-ut fo-or … t-t-t-the Ca-ca-cap” He managed to bring out, before his voice broke and the man passed out. Dain raised an eyebrow, as he finally managed to put the bean in the man´s mouth. Just at that moment something `fell´ from the ceiling and hit Dain in the neck. In a reflex he got up, touched his neck and looked at the ceiling. The darkness prevented him from seeing though, but as he pulled back his hand he saw the blueish slime and suddenly he pierced it all together. His eyes shot wide open and he jumped backwards. “Watch out! Bartho is still alive!” Dain yelled as he reached for his sword. It all happened in a split second, from him pulling back his hand, to figuring it out, but it was already too late. A split second before it happened he felt the presence of the man behind him. The next moment he crashed into man and instantly he felt his power leaving his body. Dain groaned softly in the darkness as he felt his strength fading. The dark, slimey hand was tightening it´s grip around his neck already. “Bartho! W-Wait!” He said loudly as his reached back and tried to pry the man´s hands from his neck, to no avail. Darkness began to fall, but Dain resisted and instinctively he prepared his final trump card. In a split second golden light exploded from Dain as he transformed and pushed out all his energy in a single blast. Luckily the initial blast was strong enough to knock the presence behind him away. Dain gasped loudly as he fell onto one knee, the light fading from his body as quickly as it came, severely out of breath. “Thast be careful!” Dain shouted as he tried to stand up, only to feel his knees wobbling underneath him and failing, causing him to fall down again. “Bartho is a Sanguisuge!” Dain yelled as he felt how the man rushed past him and towards his student. “uuhhh… he sucks energy! Don´t let him touch you!” Dain added after a few moments, realizing that Thast probably was unaware of that ancient race. Heck Dain would probably not have known about them if he had not met Bartho. “Don´t kill him though!” Dain added, although he wondered if that was truly doable at this stage. With some effort he managed to get back up on his feet and he even felt some power return to his limbs as he began to straggle towards Thast. Thast would watch as Dain tried to save the man, but it seemed there was little the two of them could do. The dying alien would mention something about a cap, but then pass out. His master would feed the injured man the bean nonetheless. What was he talking about though? Thast didn't see anything else around to watch out for, and he certainly couldn't sense anything else. It didn't make any sense, until Dain had looked to the ceiling that was. Some sort of bluish slime had been dripping down, slime from a creature? The earthling would look into the darkness as well, Yin would whisper into his ear "Thast! Move quickly!" he would quickly bolt back five feet, as a glob of ooze almost snared him by his own neck! What ever this creature was, Thast did not like the idea of it one bit. "Bartho? Who or what is a Bartho?"Thast would slowly reach for the sword at his hip, as Dain managed to escape the slimy grasp by turning into a super saiyan. It appeared the creature had absorbed Dain's energy, it was some kind of bottomless pit, just like those majin fellows he had met a while back. He could tell that his master was trying to reason with the creature, apparently the two had known each other at some point. Maybe Bartho was a former member of the ship's crew at one point. One thing did make sense though. All the men in the room had died from an unknown cause, but now things were all cleared up. That Bartho guy had just sucked the energy out of all the injured crewmen aboard the ship. That would explain how he managed to get the drop on the two of them. Usually, Thast would have attacked something this mess up on sight, but Dain said to non-lethal this. This was something Thast could do. The earthling would run towards the tower-shaped device and use his superhuman strength to rip it from the ground. "Something tells me a blade won't do too much to a guy like this. Luckily for us, we can make a weapon out of anything!" He would then throw the metallic device at the strange slimy alien, hoping to knock it off of the ceiling. Besides, it would probably be a better Idea not to get too close to that creature anyway. Dain did say it could steal energy.

[OOC: ah my bad, I kept the description vague on purpose to add a sense of danger. You know, the unknown is more dangerous then what we can see >.<] It made no sense. He had sparred with the man, drank with the man, fought with him. They had even shared enemies together. From all the Ravagers, Bartho was one of his best friends and the one he trusted the most. The man had hated what he was or at the very least the monster he could be. With a deep, burning passion. On many occasion he had even boasted that he would rather die then give in to those instincts. “BARTHO, STOP!!! This is not who you are!” Dain bellowed loudly, but apparently on deaf ears as the creature started attacking Thast now. Luckily his pupil had not been boasting when he said he had been training properly and was at the very least able to hold Bartho off. An impressive feat. At this rate Thast would make a decent sparring partner, very quickly. As the tower shaped improvised weapon flew towards Bartho, it faded in the darkness. Then there were several loud noises at the same time. Of course there was the impact of metal, followed by a muffled scream and then it sounded like… hundreds of tiny wings… “No, not unless it is a garlic blade.” Dain said with a semi grin, semi grimace as he dragged his way towards Thast. His strength was returning but only slowly. Too slowly for his liking. It was not so much the energy drain, not even Bartho could siphon enough energy from him that quickly, but rather the paralyzing agent the man had injected directly into the back of his neck. “Okay quick summary; Bartho belongs to an ancient race called the Sanguisuge. Actually that is their Earthly name. I doubt we could pronounce their true name… anyway, his race is basically the origin of most vampire stories on Earth.” Dain said as he took a defensive stance and pushed the button on his bracelet, causing his black armor to deploy. “Just remember these points. He is very difficult to harm physically, can leech your energy or blood and don´t let him touch you. His race can secrete a slime from the tip of their fingers that can paralyze even a grown man in less then a second.” Dain said, talking rather loudly, as he hoped it would distract Bartho. At the very least his friend would have been. The man had always been quite fond off himself and loved to hear other people talk about him. This time seemed to be different though. As soon as he was done talking he heard something coming from behind them. It sounded like five blades scraping or cutting straight through the adamantine floor beneath them. Instantly Dain´s eyes shot wide open and in a reflex he slammed both his palms onto Thasts chest, sending the young man flying for a moment, as well as pushing himself back. A moment later the floor between them tore open in an explosion of metal, sparks and smoke. Five chasms turn into the reinforced floor several inches deep. “Ah did I forget the claws? Watch out for those, they can stop Katchin dead in it´s track.” Dain shouted towards Thast, just as he landed flat on his back and bounced a few times before he finally came to a stop. Perhaps it was a moment of luck, but he ended up next to the surviving crewmen. Due to the interception they had never managed to actually feed the man the been. It was still in his mouth, but due to a moment of unconsciousness, the man had seemingly forgotten to swallow. Rolling on his side, Dain closed the man´s mouth and stimulated his throat -read gave it a good karate chop- The man coughed a few times, before instinctively swallowing and a moment later his eyes shot wide open. As Thast and Bartho where duking it out, Dain and the survivor exchanged a few words and once they were done, Dain ran as quickly as he could towards Thast. His body was still too impaired from the poison to rapid move, so he was going to have to trust this to Thast. “Hey Thast, if I give you a bit of light, do you think you could check if Bartho has anywhere near his head or neck, something embedded?” Dain asked seriously as he formed a fist and began to transform. It took a lot longer and more concentration then normally to achieve, but when he finally did, the radiant golden light washed over area. Finally revealing Bartho skittering across the ceiling, apparently trying to get away from the light. Thast Rowens | Word Count: 781 | Total Word Count: 5,698 + 781 = 6,479

Thast would listen on, as his thrown object had clanked against the ceiling in the darkness. The sound of bats could also be heard, strange. The large metallic tower would soon fall from the air to the ground, as Dain would explain exactly what they were dealing with. Apparently this Bortho was your classic vampire, the earthling didn’t know what to make of this. If the stories held true, then this guy couldn’t be that strong, right? This question would be answered, as yet another glob of slime would fall from the ceiling this time narrowly missing Thast’s neck. He would have to fight back soon, or he would end up like the guys on the floor. This was very unsettling, but at least he was in for a good fight.
The earthling would heed Dain’s warning, absorbs energy and is hard to damage. If he used a Kamehameha, he would just be throwing energy down the drain. On the other hand, if he tried to punch Bartho or use his sword, the attack would be ineffective. This gave him an idea. The vampire-like being may have been stronger in the dark, but he had a trick of his own. Thast would raise his right arm at the being, and fire off several black ki blasts. While they usually would have been absorbed, their black color managed to blend into the darkness. His intention was to take Bartho by surprise, but he couldn't tell if his attack had landed or not. Suddenly, a swarm of bat-like creatures would charge directly toward Thast attempting to chew the earthling to pieces. What ensued would be a series of swords from Thast that would chop the bats to pieces. Panting, he would say "Master, I don't think he wants to come down from---"
Suddenly the bright light of Dain's transformation would light up the room, this gave Thast a proper line of sight. He only had one shot to incapacitate the sanguisuge, but just knew just the technique to use. Reaching out with his left hand and closing his eyes, Thast would attempt to inflict a psychic attack against Bartho. If it worked, it may even cause the man to loose his thirst for energy... Temporarily of course. "I hope this will be enough. I don't have many other options."
