Thast flew above the vast ocean of earth, scouring the watery expanse looking for something. He was on a mission to uncover a secret Red Ribbon army facility in the area, but he had been searching for hours to see the case was growing cold. The longer he looked, and the more he searched, the more elusive the hidden base would be to find. The sea air was especially salty, and caused Thast to frequently rub his eyes. It was noon, so he had a large amount of time to find the base he was looking for, but General Thorn did not like waiting. The earthling general's gruff voice would be heard in Thast's ear communicator, "Kid you've been at it for hours now! You still haven't come up with anything? Look, I'm positive that base is out there some where. That informant was reliable, or at least he better have been..." Thast would speak back to the general, explaining "General, I've been searching for four hours, and nothing has come up. Maybe you read the directions wrong or something." General Thorn would grunt at the young man's remark. He wasn't the type of man to let others tell him what could or couldn't be done. He barked back, "You had better find that base or I'm cutting your rations! I know that base is out here somewhere, just keep looking damn it!" With that, the communicator would turn itself off insinuating the general had hung up.
Thast would take another look around, turning three hundred sixty degrees around. Nothing as far as they eye could see, or energy he could sense. Though, there was something some one else could sense. A light voice would whisper in the earthling's ear "Thast. I feel an energy to the west of here. It is not that of what is, but something that once was. I certainly isn't an enemy base, but it may be worth looking into." This voice was that of Yins. Thast knew it too well. If Yin said he should check out some energy source to the west, he would certainly trust her, she was a spirit of goodness after all. "Alright Yin. I'll look into it if you say so..." Thast would then fly off in the direction Yin had instructed. As he did this he would also begin to feel a strange energy. It felt like ki, but not a human's ki. It was much like Hyperion, a kai perhaps. This must be why Yin sent him in that direction.
The further west he traveled, the stronger the power grew. Eventually, he would see an island in the distance, it wasn't too far from a shore line either. Thast would turn his communicator back on to quickly explain "General, I think I've got something. Small Island off of a shore line. I'm going in to check it out." There would be no response from command. It seemed something was disrupting his communicator. When he reached the Island, he would see it had a beach-like surface with a bit of grass, and a single palm tree. There appeared to be pieces of drift wood scattered about, it seemed as though whatever once stood here had been destroyed. Thast would scratch his head before landing on the island, and then as Yin "So. This place seems abandoned. Why did you take me here?" the spirit's light voice would radiate through his mind yet again. "Use your energy Thast, sense with your mind, not your eyes..." The earthling would close his eyes, intensely focusing on his environment until he would detect a power level that would be invisible to most.
As he opened his eyes, he would see before him a formless ghost. It appeared as a mystical white blob of energy in front of him. "What the hell is that?" the earthling would slowly say. Though it did not have a mouth of it's own, the spirit would speak "I am the spirit of valor. Guardian of this once great Island. Many warriors were born on this soil..." Thast would take close note of this. The spirit used the term "Warriors" the very same thing Dain had said to him. The question was, how were they born, And who were they? It seemed Yin had taken him for quite the ride. The earthling would look over to Yin and ask "What is this place? Where are we?" the spirit would simply grin inside his mind, not that Thast could see it. The formless ghost in front of him would continue, "this Island holds many secrets. Secrets that I am only allowed to disclose to the pure of heart. If you wish to uncover the secrets of this once great and sacred place. You must prove you good intentions toward the earth..."
The earthling's heart would swell with pride. There was nothing more he loved than his home planet, and the many innocent people who lived on it. That was why he had initial joined their military after all. Love for his planet came easily to him, but Thast was not without ambition. He wanted to become the strongest fighter in the universe so he could protect all living beings from harm. This would be the exact message he would try to convey to the spirit. "My name is Thast Rowens. I am pure of heart. I have nothing but pure love for my home world, and seek nothing more than its protection from the forces of evil that plague the galaxy. Anything you can teach me, or share with me would greatly help on my journey..." The spirit would stand silent as it listened to what Thast had said. It would then raise it's spectral arm towards the young man, a bizarre beam of green energy would wrap around Thast, after a second, it would turn the color blue. The spirit would nod "Well that proves it. You are worthy..." The spirit would then float over to the center part of the Island, and hover above a small pile of rubble. "Come forth, and receive knowledge Thast Rowens." the spirit would then phase into the ground, sinking into the pile of rubble. His energy signal was gone, the spirit had vanished.
Thast would walk over to the pile of rotten wood where the spirit had evaporated and begin digging through the wood and seaweed. He would ask Yin "What kind of spirit was that? Who was he?" the ancient martial artist would begin to explain. "That soul was heavily tied to this place. So much so that it stayed here even after death. Perhaps it lived here, or was asked by someone to guard this place..." she would explain. After he had eventually removed all of the rubble from the spot, he would discover a journal on the ground. Thast would pick up the old tome, and dust it off with his hand. The book had the symbol of "Turtle" inscribed on the front of it. Opening the first page, Thast would read a message:
"If your reading this book, then Kame house is long gone, and the spirit who guards this place has deemed you worthy of this place's knowledge. This Island was once a great place where the best martial artist in history trained. If you seek to do the right thing, and defend earth from all evils then follow in the ways of the original turtle hermit." The following page depicted a human figure entering various stances and practicing a very particular fighting style. Turning a few more pages, Thast would read over a technique "What's a Kamehameha?" Images showed a human cupping their hands together, and then firing of an explosive beam of blue energy. This was a trick Thast wanted to learn...
The earthling would continue to read through the dusty old book, and eventually decided to take it with him when he left the Island. What was this mysterious turtle school? Were they truly great warriors? Many questions would float through Thast's head. The more he though about it, the more it interested him. Eventually, he would speak into him communicator yet again "General it's been about five hours now. I'm going to take a lunch break..." the general inhaled as though he was about to start protesting, but Thast turned off his communicator right before the shouting began. It appeared as if the sun would start to set soon. Given this information, the earthling would fly to the shoreline near the Island.
There he would lie down in the sand and begin to reflect. How could an organization of powerful warriors be abolished so easily? Someone or something must have done it. This much was certain. Thast would open the old journal yet again and begin to read. "The Kamehameha is the most powerful technique of turtle school. It is an explosion of one's inner power, and is capable to defeating even the strongest of foes. Though it may be an explosion, it is actually quite controllable if used in the right hands" "Controllable huh?" Thast would think to himself about his own power. His ki was volatile. It exploded in all directions as he summoned it, even after all his training. A "Controlled Explosion" Was exactly the kind of move he was looking for. Perhaps this "Kamehameha" would do the trick...
The sun would continue to go down until it was night, and a star lit sky would appear. Thast would take in the beauty of it before announcing to Yin and Yang, "Alright, the three of us are gonna learn how to use that 'Kamehameha' thing. We'll finally be able to control our power!" There would be a moment of silence, neither of the spirits had objected. Thast would prop the book up against a large boulder on the beach, and open it to the page describing the Kamehameha. He would then turn his body to the ocean, and take a look over at the book. "Alright, first things first. Stance." Thast would spread his legs apart, with both feet pointing the direction of the sea. This would help direct the beam where he wanted it to go. Following this, Thast would cup is hands in the manner the book described, placing them at his right side. The final step would be charging his ki between his two hands, and then pressing his hands forth expelling his internal power. The earthling would begin focusing "Ka!" but no energy would appear between his hands. Even still he would continue "Me" but to no avail. "Hame" he would then throw his arms forward shouting "HA!!!" following this would be a burst of blue energy that would explode between his hands. He would be blasted back ten feet and fall into the sand. He had failed.
Picking himself up from the dust, Thast would shake his head. "I did it just like it said... Maybe my form was off?" he would think. Yin would respond inside his mind "You are powerful Thast, but you need the guidance of Yang and myself for such an attack... Call out our names as you prepare it, and we will provide the needed energy to use that technique." Thast would give a simple nod, Yin had reassured him of his own capabilities. He simply needed a little push.
Entering into the same stance from before, Thast would do things a little differently. He would begin by calling out "Yin!" which would cause his left hand to glow with white light. Following this, he would shout "Yang!" which ignited a black aura around his right hand. He would then cup his hands together , and bring them to his side as he did earlier. This time something felt different, better. He would then launch his arms forward and holler all at once "Kamehameha!" This would cause a grey beam of energy to fire out of his cupped hands and into the vast ocean before him. The sea seemed to part as the destructive attack passed by, until the grey energy wave could be seen no more. He had done it! Thast had preformed a successful Kamehameha, or at least his own version of it. "Yin, Yang, Thanks for your help. We'll all be much stronger from here on out.
Thast would fall to his back, and begin to sleep on the shore of the beach. He would lie there through the night undisturbed until he was awoken by a beam of light from sun rise. "Ah man. The general is gonna kill me! I slept through the mission..." The young man's communicator would ring, uh-oh it was general Thorn. "Well Thast, thanks for trying..." "Huh, what are you talking about sir?" "It turns out that the informant way lying! We have multiple sources saying he was a false witness!" This was unfortunate, but good for thast! He would respond "Well that's just terrible sir! And to think I looked all night long. Oh well, I'll head back to base now..." It looked like the earthling was in the clear for now.
Thast would jump up from the ground and shoot off into the sky. Perhaps he would come back to the Island some time, it would make a nice hideout...
