To go beyond:
Dain had found himself meditating for a few days as he had been searching something deep within. As he had been training with Amatricina, he had begun regaining some of his past strength and as he grew stronger he had begun to recall something. How it had escaped him, he was unaware, yet the more he thought about it, the clearer it became to him that a long time ago he had a way to tap into even more power. Perhaps his body had simply forgotten it as he never needed it and as he was unable to do it anymore, he truly forgot about it. Yet now the memories were slowly coming back to him; of a time where he was still the warrior he once used to be.
He just wished he could recall the memories of those days. By now it was almost 550 years ago he met the warriors of legend. Albeit he never fought them seriously, he had met them occasionally and they has pushed him to heights he could never have achieved on his own. For example the second transformation of his race. It was one of the legendary Saiya-Jin that had showed him the path and even further beyond.
Dain was now certain that driven by their example he unlocked the power himself once. He even was certain that there was something special about the transformation. There was this gut feeling that the form had a connection to electricity which allowed him to do something special. In his dreams and meditations he had seen glimpses of it. Him standing in the center of such an incredible power he could barely fathom it at this point. Yet it felt drearily familiar, to the point he almost just wanted to give it up and let it be. However his pride and loyalty literally would not. He had sword loyalty to his new mistress and sworn to strive to be worthy of her as a warrior. Albeit he had made some strides in the past few weeks, regaining some of the feeling as he trained, he still felt far from the warrior he used to be. His power still weak and his fighting style to direct. Dain did not feel the rhythm as he fought, he did not feel his opponent. He might have started including lightning into his attacks again, yet it was still the accurate eye and strong arm principal. He still needed to look at his opponent to strike him down.
The Saiya-Jin vaguely remembered the time when that was no longer the case. When he could sense his foe from whichever direction they were coming, to anticipate in a fight before they even moved. A battle being just an incredible chess match, at a speed no mortal eye could follow.
With a sigh Dain woke up from his meditation session, as he needed a break. He was hungry and looking into himself and meditating about it did not seem to get him any further. It was frustrating as fuck and when he opened his eyes he found he had clenched his fists in frustration and black lightning was arcing around him as his frustration was clearly reaching the surface.
He just did not understand it. If it was something he had mastered in the past, why was he incapable of doing so now. What was blocking him, what was the thing he was missing now, that he had in the past. Was he simply lacking the raw power or was his technique failing? Or was it simply that his motivation was lacking? A few curse words escaped DainΒ΄s lips as his anger flared up, causing a wave of power to shoot through the room. I need something to let of some steam! He thought to himself, when he suddenly remembered an opponent he and Sly once fought. It was in some parallel universe and despite both being able to transform, it kicked their ass.
That was just the foe he needed right now. A foe of unimaginable strength, which he could unleash against, use his entire strength for once. Of course he had grown a lot since then, but he hoped the being could still push him. That he was still stronger then him. It had been such a long time that he faced a being stronger then he wasβ¦ perhaps that was the way to go forward. He did remember an old line playing in his head, something someone once taught him. βThe power comes in response to a need, not a desire.β
Of course it was possible to go there, he just needed a ship capable of making the jump to an alternate dimension, find the right one and hope he had not outgrown the beast. It would be pointless if the monster could not provide the challenge he required. He doubted though he had grown that much. Last time they fought it had taken the immortality of agent Zero to even survive the beast.
βPetey can you fabricate me a ship that is capable of traveling to an alternate dimension? There is a monster out there I really want to fight, to help me push beyond my limits.β Dain said into the thin air of his ship, knowing Petey could understand him.
The response however was both disappointing and yet also very encouraging. With a nod Dain told the AI to start working on it. Without a doubt it would be a spectacular event, perhaps the hardest thing he would do. He wanted to add an forever in his thought, but could not commit himself to such a lie. Even for the purpose of dramatics his mistress was still firmly in his mind and no matter how strong that monster might be, he knew for a fact that his mistress would still be stronger and ever more dangerous.
In any case he put on his fighting robe. There was no doubt that even for Petey this would take some time, yet he wanted to be prepared anyway. The AI had managed to perform miracles before and he was very eager. For some reason he suddenly felt as if he was close to his transformation. Maybe it was his instinct , maybe vane hope, maybe it was something else. But it was there and he felt it.

Some time late:
He found himself once more on the planet, in the familiar arena, where they had last fought the monstrous beast. Everything looked almost the same, even the crowd seemed to be made out of the same people. Al though it seemed there had been a few modifications made to the arena, which surprised him. Yet it did not surprise him at all at the same time. The `king´ must have realized that an all out battle against the monster would result in the destruction of⦠well blatantly put; everything. So it seemed a shield had been put into place. A very solid one, as it not only seemed to make the crowd blurry, it even seemed to block almost all sound. All Dain could hear was the howling of wind in the arena and the barely distinct murmuring coming from outside. Although he could not even tell whether they were merely talking, chanting or cheering.
Still he could practically hear them gasp for air as the strong metal doors slid open, revealing the catacombs the beast was about to appear from. Again it was almost exactly as he remembered. The beast stood tall at am impressive nine feet, green skin and muscles that seemed more like pumped tires, then made out of flesh and bone. Yet Dain could still feel itΒ΄s power, radiating from it even now. Perhaps it was because Dain was a lot stronger now, but for the first time he could actually sense the tremendous power the beast had.
No wonder they could not beat him the first time. Back then Sly and him were at best around a PL of three hundred thousand, while the beast stood tall at one million. Even now it was still stronger then Dain, although he had almost closed the distance.
βWell we meet again. How about we make it a fair fight this time?β Dain said with a grin, excited about the battle that was going to ensue. With a grunt his power exploded, the golden aura began to form around him. βHowever just know that you are merely a tool for me, to help me ascend to a new state.β Dain said as a grin grew on his face from ear to ear and he began to unleash his his power. A golden aura exploded around him, one the beast had seen before. Bare with me, this form takes me a bit longer to take.β Dain said with a grin, biting through the pain as he clenched his fists again, digging his nails even deeper into the skin and summoned even more power.
A hurricane of golden lightning shot outward from him as he reached deeper inside and unleashed the dormant power. As he gathering his power a ripple shot through the room, expelling the clouds for a moment. A deep growl escaped his lips, his fangs showing, as golden lightning began to thunder down around him. With a loud yell he let his more primitive side take over. A crater formed around him as his hair blond hair turned bright yellow, his azure eyes began to shine and the lightning wrapped itself tighter around him like a skin tight armor. This time though he delved deeper, the howl continuing as he searched for the part he had lost. He could feel the lightning in the air, the static and friction around him. Dain could even feel the electric signals run through his body, as his brain send instructions to his limbs and received feedback. βThat is betterβ¦!β He growled, baring his fangs, as his energy expanded once more, his eyes turning completely white, except for the occasional lightning arcing through them.
Dain could feel it, the warm comfortable sensation in his entire body. It was so familiar that he did not even have to look to confirm it. What he had lost over the centuries, he was already regaining within months under her tutelage. IΒ΄ll prove her I am worth it. He thought to himself, determined to the core, as he instinctively clenched his fist, causing electricity to arc around his arm. Where his right arm before had been flesh and blood, it had been transformed into pure golden lightning. At least that part had worked. Still he was not there yet. The true form of the lightning Saiya-Jin lied in turning his entire body into an electrical state, a trick he had picked up from his parents. Still it was an improvement and the first time he had managed to push his entire arm into that state.
βSorry that took so long, it is quite tricky to get this right.β Dain said with a grin as he stood before the beast. His flesh and blood arm discarded to a form of pure golden lightning, that arced occasionally around him. βOh and here is a second trick.β Lightning arced in his eyes and around his arm, as he raised his right into the air. A few bolts of lightning escaped from the tips of his fingers and into the clouds above them. As soon as they hit, the clouds turned dark and began to expand until lightning arced ominously through them.
He knew he was almost there. Instinctively he knew he had reached the right amount of power to actually achieve the form he wanted. The Saiya-Jin had reached it before after all, he just needed to find the right trigger.
As he had transformed the beast had waited patiently for Dain to finish, but now it seemed no longer willing to talk at all. It let out a roar so loud it nearly shattered DainΒ΄s eardrums, before powering up. Albeit not as drastic as DainΒ΄s, itΒ΄s power soared to an impressive one point three million, causing the entire arena to tremble as it hit by an earthquake and a dark green energy flame formed around itΒ΄s massive body.
Seemed like it no longer time to talk, but for Dain to put his fists where his mouth was.
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
The actual battle!
The ground trembled as the beast thundered towards the Saiya-Jin, the ground cracking with each step. Yet Dain was no longer afraid of the monster. Even if it was stronger then he was, he now could sense the depths of itΒ΄s power. With his mistress he had fought a much stronger opponent. Perhaps with her teachings and new tricks, he might have been able to end the battle before it started. Literally zap the energy from the beasts body. One little finger placed on the right spot of itΒ΄s back or chest and drain the energy from itΒ΄s heart, causing it to stop instantaneously.
He was here for a purpose and he wanted to fight. Perhaps that was the newest feeling that had overcome the Saiya-Jin since meeting his mistress. He felt alive again, having met a being that could so easily kill him⦠it was infuriating! It allowed him to awaken a feeling he had not had for centuries: the urge to grow stronger and to fight. To fight, simply to enjoy and continue to grow.
So he did.
DainΒ΄s muscles tensed and a roar escaped his lips, as he dashed of. The ground cracking under his own feet and might with every touch, gaining more and more speed as he aimed straight towards the monster. Both drew back their arms and threw a punch, containing their full might, at the same time. They met exactly in the middle, both fists touching as if they were giving a friendly box and then suddenly something happened.
Dain had heard the stories for a long time. Legends about two absolute masters of their fighting style. That when they met, at the height of their attack, just as their weapons met, time would suddenly crawl to a stop. Allowing that one moment to last a thousand.
The Saiya-Jin had never experienced it before, but right now it happened. For that fraction of a moment as both of them hit, time seemed to freeze. His body as well, yet he could look around, sense the beast and to his surprise he felt something much more then he had ever expected. The beast was no beast at all⦠there was something much deeper within him. He was a warrior and not a small time one. From what his senses could tell him, the beast might actually be one of the few true masters left in the universe. It was a surprise and for a moment Dain wondered what was happening.
It was logical a beast of such strength was a worthy opponent, but this was simply too much. He had hoped that despite the raw power, they could win on technique and training. Yet he just realized they were outclassed there as well. βWhat are you?β Dain asked through his eyes.
There was no mental connection, yet the best seemed to understand and Dain knew perfectly well what the best replied. βYou will never know. Only those who defeat me can know it and you donβt have a chance.
After that the moment was over and a black light pulsed from where there fists hit, the forces finally allowed to battle it out. For a moment it seemed as if they were equal, until suddenly his foe grinning, shifted his posture slightly and then let out a growl. Instantly the power between his punch increased, easily pushing Dainβs aside as if he was a toddler and struck him directly in the face.
Dain barely recalled anything after that, but when he opened his eyes, he was lying with his back against some mountain range. He could barely even sense the arena, but he did sense the two monstrous powers duking it out. The Saiya-Jin would have loved to rush back instantly, but he was dazed and his body felt like it had been run over. βG-get me the number of the planet which just ran me overβ¦β He mumbled softly as he pushed himself back out of the Dain shaped hole, spat out a bit of blood and shook his head.
He had never met any being capable of overpowering him so badly. One bloody punch had nearly ended it all. He barely had the strength to look sideways though. As always though, the moment danger loomed, his body gained the much needed jolt of energy and suddenly he felt his power flowing back into his body. βHe is comingβ¦ letβs give him a proper welcomeβ¦β Dain said with a weary smile as lightning crackled around him and suddenly a clone sprung forth from his body.
βHmm I wonder how long it has been since I used this attack. If I remember it correctly I picked it up a long, long time ago!β He muttered to himself as he spread both arms and began gathering a huge amount of energy in each palm. His clone mimicking him. The ground and air trembled as he kept charging.
Meanwhile he could sense Xiango closing in rapidly. So fast Dain could barely believe it for a being of itβs size, but being knocked to the other side of the world seemed to have itβs advantages. Even if his entire body ached, he just had enough time to charge and as the monster appeared on the horizon, Dain slapped his hands together. βFINAALLL FLLAASSSSSHHHHHH!β He screamed a the top of his lungs, before releasing a wave of energy that quickly grew in size. As it soared towards the monster, it tore a chasm in the ground. Any other foe would have at least needed to block.
As it slammed into the beast though, it barely slowed him down. A grin decorated itβs green face as he charged straight into the attack, the energy merely slowing him down a little. Just then Dainβs clone released his own blast and instantly the two beams melted together, doubling in size and strength.
As the new energy reached the beast, for the first time Dain saw a different emotion on itβs face. Perhaps it was not exactly fear, but for once itβs overconfidence was wiped up and it looked serious, perhaps even annoyed as it was forced to a halt. His feet digging deeper into the ground and even pushed back a bit, before it managed to cross itβs arms, deflecting at least some of the damage from itβs body. Dain and his clone roared as they pushed out every bit of energy they had. He could feel every fiber of itβs body burn as he dug for more power.
To his upset though the monster somehow managed to extend his arms and deflect the beams into space.
βHoly crap baskets!β Dain muttered as he watched the beams going into space and vanish eventually. Both him and his clone sank onto a knee, severely out of breath and covered in sweat.
βI have to comment youβ¦β Xiango said with a dangerous grin on itβs face as it jumped and landed in front of the Saiya-Jin with a deafening crash. βYou are the first who actually have managed to hurt me!β It said, covered in little scraps, small cuts and some blisters. Due to itβs massive size though, none of the wounds were more then skin deep and barely slowed it down.
The rest of the day fight was merely a blur. Pushed to the limits, he and his clone kept fighting back, at times even pushing the beast, but in the end it was to no avail. The gap in physical strength and power was simply to bigβ¦
β¦ exactly as he had hoped it would be.
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
The end was near as Dain was lying motionless in a crater.
He was wheezing and coughing up blood, barely any strength left in his body. His clone was long gone and he was at the end of the rope. No matter what he had tried, the monster had simply ran through it. Shrugging of any damage Dain seemed to do. He had tried, he had dug deep, he had searched for the power boost he needed. He had created the urge, the need for it. Nothing. It had not come to him, it had failed and he was going to get killed, without ever understanding the form again.
As he closed his eyes, he saw his parents. He saw himself. All three in an elemental form, walking together and enjoying their company on a level Dain never achieved after. All he wanted as he laid there was experience that feeling againβ¦
β¦And then it suddenly came to him. As he was lying there, beaten on the ground by the gigantic green beast, his shoulders pierced by itΒ΄s horns. It was not the desire or the need he was looking forβ¦ he simply had to accept who he was. His power had never come from a desire to be stronger or faster or a better warrior. DainΒ΄s desire all along had been to master the element his parents taught him. A laughter formed around his lips as he closed his eyes, just as the beast was about to deliver the finishing blow.
Where before he had been unable to block the attacks, now Dain casually raised his hand and blocked it with ease. A surprised growl escaped from the beasts lips as it tried to aprehend, when suddenly a wave went through the stadium and a crater formed around where Dain had been lying. A field of solid lightning expanded from his body in the shape of a dome, expanding outward and pushing the beast away.
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ-
Dain suddenly remembered. The memory finally returning to him as he came to accept who he was. He was not a Saiya-Jin, he was a half breed. A Saiya-Jin who had turned elemental through his parents. His form was not born from a desire, it was his way to be one with his people. In his normal state he could control lightning, as a super Saiya-Jin he could turn body parts into lightning, but always at a limit. Yet to be one with his people he needed to be fully lightning, to be one of them. That was why he had been training himself, pushing himself beyond his limits. As much as he wanted to be part of them, of his new race, he would never be one as long as he was still flesh and blood. One day during a sparring with one of the masters of the lightning element he was pushed on purpose far beyond his limits. Apparently his master had recognized his problem and gave his body a final choice.
Dain was locked inside a bolt of lightning that was superseded his ability to handle and wield, basically electrocuting him. The master kept him trapped in that state and left him there, telling Dain that either he would need to break free of his own power, or stay trapped there forever.
At first Dain had felt anger, even betrayal as his body was constantly electrocuted, but as time passed and the minutes became hours and the hours days, slowly he began to realize something. That the lightning was not actually hurting him. Sure it hurt, but at the basic level his body was already adapting, preventing it from being permanently harmed. There was something else though that, something far more substantial. There was this feeling of familiarity. A warm feeling spreading through his immortal body, as if it was finally being returned home.
It was probably his masters intention all along, but as he was trapped, in pain and suffering, he realized that he was not. In fact the lightning felt warm like a blanket and safe like home. The only reason it was hurting because he was resisting it.
Once he realized that, he could slowly feel his restraints fall away and his power rose as he embraced the lightning. His memories of the rest were a bit vague, but when he woke up he was lying in the middle of a gigantic crater. The lightning that surrounded him gone. To his surprise he realized it was all inside him now, as his body had been taken the form of lightning. It was no longer violent as before, instead it was calm and serene. He still looked like a Saiya-Jin, except his flesh and blood had taken the form of golden lightning, calmly arcing as he stood up.
From that day he had truly been one of his people. Having taken their form, allowing him to interact with them on their own level. Eventually he learned it was another form of his super Saiya-Jin state, a much higher one, but back then it became his true form.
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
Of course the form he had taken back then was a lot weaker, as his own power had not been a fraction of what it was now. Moreso back then it came at a desire to be one of his people, to adopt to their form. Now it was a form he desired to grow stronger, to be useful to his mistress.
Still he know knew what to do and as he accepted the feeling, embracing the power he once owned, he once more gave up his physical body. A load roar escaped his lips as he embraced it, feeling the power of electricity returning to his lips. The golden dome of lightning absorbing back into his body, raising his power ever higher as his body became electricity. The whole stadium trembled under his power, as he expanded his limits, rising to new heights. The golden light from his body becoming so bright it momentarily became as bright as the sun.
And thenβ¦ it was gone. βNow you have done it Martallus!β Dain said with a grin as his lightning hand grasped around the monsters hand and knacked it as if it was nothing as he rose up from the crater he had occupied.
He could feel the monster struggling to be released from his grip, yet it felt like a toddler trying to escape. No longer like the monster he had been fighting before. βOh you want to be free? Then allow me to grant that to you!β Dain said with a grin as he released his grip, only to unfold his tail and slap the monster directly in the face, sending him flying. It felt good to finally have the upper hand against the monster, yet it failed to compare to the feeling he was having now. He finally regained a part of his true self!
βI guess I should thank you. Perhaps I should even let you live?β He mused to himself as he stared at his hands, completely converted to lightning.
Of course it was only a rhetorical question, as there was no way Dain could kill something that was not even there. As if it was planned, Petey shut down the gravity machine and holographic display, causing the entire arena to vanish.
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
It had all been a simulation in the holographic trainings room on board the Atrioch.
With a sigh Dain relaxed, his burning aura falling away and the tension of battle slowly faded. His entire body was hurting, yet the sensation he was feeling right now was overwhelming any fatigue or pain. It even removed any questions from his mind, how Petey pulled this off. Even if he knew he was fighting in his own holographic chamber, there was a lot he did not understand. He could have sworn he had been fighting the real thing. At the very least his punches felt like the real thing and Dain could swear he had a few broken ribs and perhaps a small concussion. It was worrying the AI managed to pull that of, but right now Dain cared very little for it.
There was something much more important to do. Still in his lightning form he dashed through his ship, nearly knocking over several disturbed crewman, till he reached his personal room. The Saiya-Jin had never been one for vanity, but he did have several gigantic mirrors around and above his bed. For reasons he would not go into and used far too infrequently for his taste.
However right now it proved to be rather effective. It was exactly what he needed to examine his new form. Something he did not even have on his home planet where he first found the form. They did not have much in terms of technology or items to use.
It was magnificent though. His entire body had been converted into lightning. Yet he still looked exactly like himself. What was even better though was the sensation he had now. Basically his entire outer shell had become incorporeal, making him invulnerable to smaller physical attacks. It was not perfect yet though. It might have looked like it, but his insides were not converted. In the old days he had been able to, to become lightning embodied. He could have moved at lightning speeds and even move through walls that were conducive.
He was unsure whether that would ever happen again. Dain had a theory there was something special about the planet. A theory confirmed by the fact that he found the elemental stones there that allowed him to convert the lightning for his forge.
However he was ultimately pleased by his transformation. He had ascended his boundaries, regained his old abilities and gained a great deal of new strength. With a smile on his face he let go and the lightning form fell away. Instantly a wave of pain and dizziness washed over him and he barely managed to stumble the two feet to his bed, where he fell, face down into his fluffy pillow.
In pain, but with a satisfied smile on his face.
Word Count: 5000
