So after seeing the sparring idea I was thinking of a battle idea as well, seeing that mainly everyone is only battling for PL and not killing (which never happens much in the db/dbz/dbs/dbgt universes I wanted to see what the members thought of a tournament style battle scenario where the only restriction was that edge advantages would be removed to make the tournament a little less lopsided.
This would be unofficial ran by myself and maybe down the line I'll add my own prizes for the winners from my own character.
Let me know what you guys think.

I don't think you should remove edge advantage.
It always annoys me when people run these 'strongest in the world' tournaments and then throw in restrictions to stop the actual strongest being strong.
I also think I'd like the spar idea to get some traction and so far there is little indication this is something people actually want.

Well I would either run that restriction or have pl bracket system (similar to what they had as the kids division except it would just separate so you don't have 30k Imoya stomping a 7k whatever) since I doubt most would enter to know they had no actual chance.
Bracket System would be something like
Bronze Division- 500 PL - 5,000 PL
Silver Division - 5,001 - 15,000 PL
Gold Division - 15,001 and up
Now these would adjust as people grew stronger to where we eventually would have set divisions that way it would be that people that were newer fought against other newer members and older members fought against those that had been here some time.

Yeah. That sort of thing annoys me.
If you're running the Strongest Under the Heavens tournament, run the tournament. You don't get different brackets at the Olympics. You're either in the top three, or you aren't.
A 7k should have a chance to run into a 30k and get stomped. They should learn and grow from the experience. That's what tournament fighting is all about.
The bracket system is a very common trope to these sorts of games, and I'm sure it'd be more popular if you ran it along those lines, but it'd still bug me personally. Especially given that the dice system in place here already means that there's a chance for upsets to occur.

Upsets are possible but giving that older members have edge advantage +mastery points put into the character that upset is a lot less likely. I get what you are saying but giving the current scenario where there are no real rewards and death will likely happen then I opt for my previous idea.
When rewards are in then yes it's anything goes no matter the PL.
