zarun
A master of words and a seamstress of lies. Kuueru had said it all before, if not even in Zarun's lifetime. Centuries had prepared her and taught her the subtle differences in each and everyone's mannerisms, personalities, and reactions. She hadn't come across a person that she was surprised by. Most of them all reminded her of a phantom of the past; someone whom she had held close at one point in time. Unfortunately, all those relationships she made eventually faded. Eventually her friends would die as soon as something strong enough came along and wiped them out. Even in the mortal realm, these friends that she would make would all perish long before her. Maybe if the demon acted more like her kind, she would be ruthless, cold and not care about the consequences of loss. Kuueru however, was a different breed.
The time they spent restrained to the chairs was rather short compared to what Kuueru had been expecting. They hadn't the time to interrogate Duria much beyond the time they had already wasted. Who even knew how long the pair had been unconscious? Either way, with some mental reassurance from Zarun, the demoness put her mind to work and did as he said. She focused all of her tempting and compulsive magics and spells upon the brute Saiyan, and by some miracle it had all played out just as she had hoped. Both she and Zarun were free. She had successfully unhinged the man's brain enough to wipe his memories of both their capture, presence and even the tidbit about Sorben. The woman wouldn't be able to live with a clear conscious if Zarun's brother ran into trouble over this. Still, there was a lot that could happen to Sorben if this got out to the rest of the Kabochans. He could be forced out of his job, lose his research, or even be held accountable for their actions. She had to be sure that everything in this place was left just as it was before their arrival.
All was said and done, they 'ran' and quickly were back in the ship. Kuueru couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. Still, Zarun seemed to have something on his mind. He piped up for a moment, but his voice soon died back down mid-sentence.
"Sorben? He should be fine. I made sure to erase all traces of us being here. Sorben knows nothing of our wrongdoings here, so he's better left in the dark as far as I'm concerned," Kuueru answered as if she knew he was going to speak about his brother and his safety. Still, Kuueru had tried to stay two or three steps ahead of her enemies. Still, this entire capture through the Commander off guard. As much as she wanted to remain cool and collected, the sound of Zarun walking around the ship and slamming things only unnerved her further.
Once she was successfully in autopilot and back on track to Mitra, the demoness stood from her helm. She had to find Zarun and at least ensure that the boy wasn't completely angry with her. Still, his lack of control and outburst of frustration was uncalled for. She found the boy eventually, her sullen eyes locking onto his frame as she searched for the words to say. It was rough, he was hurting and obviously upset with not only being caught, but his brother as well.
"Listen. I'm sorry you know, I shouldn't have even drug you along on this mission. Not so unprepared at least," Kuueru began her sentence before taking a few steps closer to the Saiyan. There was a heavy sense of sadness in her voice, she felt as if she had something to explain or some excuse to give, but the words just were flowing. A heavy bit of silence hung in the air for a moment before her hand reached out to try and grab his shoulder.
"I-I don't know if you're mad at me. I don't know if you're mad at yourself, but—this mission was a bit bumpy, we both can admit that. However---I don't feel like it was unsuccessful," Perhaps it was a bit of an overstatement, but Kuueru did manage to clean up most of the collateral damage. The demoness leaned against one of the steel walls of her warship before she looked longingly to the Saiyan for some sort of words back. Just then she remembered who had captured them. It was a Saiyan no less, perhaps that factor also played into Zarun's feelings about all of this? She bit her tongue for now and ran a few fingers through the soft pink locks upon her head.
"I got some decent data to prepare the team for the mission. When I was inside his head, I didn't see much about his knowledge on who we were as well. That's good for the Empire at least. I—I just feel like a failure."
Kuueru's shoulders dropped as she waved a hand at the man. She didn't want to berate him with apologies or downtrodden feelings. Perhaps she needed to focus on the task at hand of getting them back to Mitra in one piece. Still, if Zarun had thoughts or something to say about their time on Kabocha, now would be the time to say it.
"I'm sorry, I'll leave ya alone. You still seem upset about all of this. Just know, if you need to talk, I'm here," Kuueru mumbled quietly. "We should be back on Mitra within an hour, you probably want to rest."
With that the demoness returned to the cockpit of the ship. She sat, strapped herself in and rustled through the bag she had managed to retrieve before they teleported back to the war ship. From it, she withdrew the tablet once more. She opened it, immediately she saw her goofy smile and the bewildered look plastered upon Zarun's face. Her fingers traced over the screen as a soft smile reflected on her own lips. Once back on Mitra she would get this intel back to Lute and proceed with their mission to obtain Absolut. Though, she wondered what missions Zarun would take, or if he would take time off. This ordeal was probably too much on him.
