In five minutes, it was done.
Kamui and the Howling Tempests had completed their mission in five minutes. Every prisoner they saw was merely a target, an outlet for Kamui to unleash a fraction of his power upon...and they crumbled like ants beneath his boot, curled up and embracing death with open arms. The Changeling almost felt as if he were fulfilling a deep desire of theirs, finally releasing them from this god forsaken world.
He was doing them a favor, letting them experience true relief, true freedom.
Bodies laid strewn about the prison as Kamui and his remaining men regathered in the same main block in which they entered. Of sixty soldiers, Kamui found himself with barely twelve left over, the rest of his men either deserted or dead...or hopelessly lost within the depths of the prison. This was it....he couldn't recover from this anytime soon. The Howling Tempests were dead....his crew was practically gone, and who knew who was still alive back on the ship. He had only allowed the critically injured to stay on board the ship with Sawbones.
What could he do, now? Not that it mattered. Soon he, Kaiju, and the other twelve survivors were bound to be survivors no more. As soon as they rendez-vous with Cam and his soldiers. Pushing the gate open, Kamui led his troops out the way he came, creating distance between him and the prison. It was only when they reached the landing pad, where Cam and his soldiers were, standing right outside his ship, blocking the way. They seemed to have trophies too, in the form of two reptilian Naga, if he could believe it. As a child, he had heard the legends. The battle for Planet Cane, ending in the near extinction of the species, and the domination of the planet by Lord Cooler and his Armored Squadron of fighters. He had figured the species completely wiped out, but here they are...two survivors.
But, that was a fact to process later. Turning on his heel, Kamui directed his pointer finger in the direction of the prison.
A small sphere of intense red energy coalesced at his fingertips, gathering into a compressed little ball of near unstable Ki. Then, he finally allowed such compressed energy to be released, releasing an intense, broad beam of Ki from his pointer finger, a Death Beam released at Kamui's near full power, meant to destroy the prison in one go.
A moment later, an explosion rocked the prison as the structure was destroyed in a brilliant flash of light, the likes of which shook the very ground upon impact. It was done, his mission was complete. Now....to solidify his fate. Cam had an easy job now. Half the work was done for him. Kamui was weak by comparison to the Emperor, and his soldiers, thirteen in total (including Kaiju) were even weaker, and in various levels of fatigue. Finishing them all off would be trivial, and destroying the pirate vessel an even more trivial matter. Kamui almost expected it....and he nearly accepted it.
Which made Cam's turn around all the more surprising. A....a credit chip? Worth millions of Zeni? That was a haul better than what a single raid could possibly yield for the pirate! But....but why? Why spare him? Kamui was a pirate, a pirate who had struck against one of the most powerful fleets in the galaxy. By all rights, he should be executed for his actions. He had nearly expected it. For Cam to...
The Changeling didn't understand him, and was quick to voice it.
"But why....you...you could have just as easily have killed myself and the rest of my crew....Why will you spare us?" Kamui asked, genuinely curious.
The rest of his crew watched in silent awe of such a reward. Kamui himself would wait until Cam had answered the "why" before proceeding on.
"My crew is ruined. We barely have enough soldiers to raid, and news of this ordeal will spread amongst the deserters, that I am the one who nearly led my squadron into sure death at the hands of the Kabochan Empire. No one will wish to join me. But, I can hardly blame you for your actions...in fact your actions perplex me. You, an Emperor, rush to the aid of your soldiers instead of sitting back and observing from a throne, sending more minions to help minions. You seemingly care for the well-being of your men, rather than seeing them as expendable. You....you reward those who work for you, regardless of what status they had with you prior. What is your agenda? What do you wish to accomplish? After studying the leaders of the world, I have begun to see the world in patterns....but you are breaking that pattern, and I do not understand that. What exactly do you represent?"
