"An object can be strong," the Western Kai said, pointing to a rock on the grassy field, verdant blades swaying in the wind. Today, they were going over some basics of imbuing objects with ki. "But even the strongest Katchin has its limitations," he finished as he fired a beam of ki. The rock evaporated. "And it is ki that either enforces those limitations... or pushes past them."
It was not hard to figure out what he was trying to say. Ki could be used to destroy things, much like what her opponent was doing now. But it could also be used to imbue objects with abnormal strength and durability... or even effects they normally would not have had otherwise.
For a brief moment, the Sovereign closed her eyes and channeled a sliver of power through the flagstaff, and indeed the flag itself. Taking a defensive stance, she twirled it about, flag fully unfurled and fluttering in the air like the colour guard in action.
Spinning quicker than the blades on a fan, the newly empowered weapon - more accurately the spread-out flag - would take the brunt of the blast and disperse it into the air.
When it passed, she stopped, and planted the staff into the ground, allowing the flag time to wave. From the crimson field to the golden dragon rampant, it was untouched. "With the correct application of ki," she began to quote her mentor, "Even silk can stop a blade."
Or in this case, another blast of ki.
On the other hand... "And with the correct application of ki, even silk can become as a blade." The flag began to glow before folding up. Not into a neat manner that would let someone put it away, but into the shape of a spearhead, surrounded by a serene blue aura. "If I was toying with you earlier, then I apologize." the Suzerain added as she took an offensive stance.
"I shall rectify any such offense post haste." Words spoken, she blasted off the floor in a burst of power, charging her opponent as if one were to joust, right polearm aiming for his left arm. Regardless of whether this hit, she would spin around and strike Null with the shaft from the opposite side.
