After the doctor left, the witch rose from her seat as well. It was an odd feeling, a strange sense of finality. As if they would never meet again. Shaking her head, she set the thoughts aside. The teapot and cups vanished with a glimmer of magic. Slowly the crackling fire died, taking the warmth with it. Chester tapped up to her, clearly wanting to follow wherever she went. She glanced down, eyes cold and uncaring as always. Hm, well... With a soft sigh, she reached to pet the little familiar and allowed it to tag along. Just this once. Today was special after all.
Walking along the cold, dark halls, Lilith pondered, wondered all she had achieved. And all that still remained out of her reach. Outside, the storm passed, the clouds parted and the silver moon shined its pale light through the windows. Arriving to her study, she took the midnight dark grimoire, her most treasured tome. Page by page, she slowly leafed through her findings. All of her accomplishments so far. It was still so terribly incomplete... Yet, reading through it brought neither bitterness nor sorrow. Rather, she found something rarer than any spell. A genuine smile. With a gentle rustle, the book closed. Eventually... Every story came to an end.
