A curtain of dark clouds covered the sky. Icy rain beat the grim forest below. Chill wind hissed between the twisted trees. Somewhere at the end of an overgrown path stood a castle. Once a monument of might and safety, it was now a ghastly ruin. Beaten... Broken... There were holes on the thick walls, some accompanied by tell-tale scorch marks. A portion of the roof was missing. One tower had collapsed completely. Yet despite the disrepair, there were signs of life.
Well... Maybe life wasn’t the best word for it...
All manner of ghastly creatures wandered the courtyard. Hounds with infernal flames clinging to their fur patrolled the perimeter. Wispy women, constantly crying, floated aimlessly in the middle. Massive armors with glowing embers for eyes stood by the main doors. Anyone trying to force their way in would quickly find themselves on the wrong end of teeth, swords and worse... A dark presence lingered in the air. Those versed in energy sensing -or simply with the right equipment- could pick up the distinct taint of dark magic. It slithered across senses, like an icy touch along the spine. Strange static disrupted electronics, painting nonsensical reading on the screens.
Someone, something, approached. The hounds gathered, growling in warning. Meanwhile, the wailing specters exchanged hurried whispers. One of them rushed towards the castle, passing through the sturdy door as if it wasn’t even there. She flew through an immense foyer and up a long set of stairs. Enchanted lanterns floated along the halls, offering wavering light to the shadows. Tiny imps scampered in the corners, closing their ears fearfully as the ghost passed them. Finally she arrived to the back of the castle, to a door engraved with ancient symbols. Thrice she knocked and the door slid open on its own. Behind it was a study of sorts. A small, frail woman in dark robes sat in a chair, leafing through a dark tome.
Yet the spirit remained quiet...
After an eerie silence, the witch finally looked up from her book and gave permission to speak. "Well, what is it?" Between the sobs, the inconsolable spirit managed to mutter that someone was coming. "An intruder? Tch, I don’t have time to play with peasants. Get rid of them." Yet the spirit dared to shake her head. Not an intruder, the wavering voice insisted, but a guest. The witch blinked as the claim sank in slowly. "...A guest?" Utterly ridiculous. She wasn’t expecting anyone. And who would even come all this way in such a dreadful weather? Not anybody on a broom certainly. With a tired sigh she set down the book and shuffled towards the hallways. Whoever it was had better have a brilliant reason for disturbing her studies... Words: 462 [Total = 462] doctorgrey

Once again Dr. Grey, the misanthropist scientist who lost his humanity, would be on Earth again. The last time he was there he went was finding the Majin Ala which was indeed an interesting meeting and bore fruit for him. However this time he was visiting he was here to visit someone he has met before. The one who he owes for managing to introduce him to Polaris so he could get into the Galactic Empire. The noblewoman Lilith Nevermore, one of the empire's two magic users the other being Kuueru.
Since Kuueru probably has a sour opinion on Dr. Grey after the Black Star job she probably wouldn't like him coming to his planet. Ever since realizing that magic is in fact real, along with an afterlife and gods, Grey wanted to seek someone out who would be able to tell him more about it. While he has studied in many fields, even the Parascience study related to Ki, he has no knowledge of how magic works and whether it's someone anyone can obtain or a special trait that specific individuals are able to have, so he needed to find an expert on the subject to find more. In order to gain more information, and so perhaps that he can be able to allow Project Helix to have magical powers. Even if she is a human, although the jury is still out on whether she is or isn't.
Grey was using a device to detect strange energy frequencies and he manages to detect one in one area on Earth. The image of the area appeared to be a derelict castle with some strange beings surrounding it such as flaming hounds and what appear to be spirits. Well she certainly knows how to wear her title as a witch proud. As the spaceship lands just outside the gate that leads into the road to the front door Grey notices the storm that is going on outside. The fact that this resembles something out of a horror movie is not lost on Nikolas as he puts on a belt before walking out of the ship.
Morton, who is scared of Lilith and probably is not liked by her, decides to stay on the ship while Grey goes out alone. Luckily Grey brought with him protection from more then the just the storm. As he walks out he activates a force field around his body withe belt device he is wearing. The rain patter's against the shield of energy as Grey walks up the path leading to Lilith's castle. Lightning strikes down and just bounces off of Grey's force field as he grins as if he just gave mother nature the middle finger.
He took note of the flaming hounds growling at him and calmly and slowly approached the front door. He is not willing to test just how durable his energy shield is against these hounds since they are somehow still on fire while it's raining and that in of itself is a sign of how unnatural they are, well besides them being on fire of course. He walks to the front door and notices of course the two suspicious suits of armor standing next to the door. He is willing to bet they are a defense system of some kind so he makes sure to show that he is unarmed and walks steadily towards the door. He then grabbed the ornate skull door knocker to knock on the door three times.
"Lady Lilith Nevermore, it's me Dr. Nikolas Grey? I have come to visit because I wanted to ask you some questions." Grey said.

With a hefty rumble the thick dual doors slid open. A single crimson eye shined in the murky darkness. Lightning flashed, painting a slender shadow against the floor. A voice like a silver bell rang out. Clear, refined, yet so deathly cold. "Who dares to enter my domain?" When the familiar figure introduced himself, however, an awkward pause filled the air. "...Oh, it’s you." The ominous bravado deflated. Of course Lilith remembered dear Doctor Grey. How could she ever forget the poor, delusional fool? A man of science... Tch, what a waste.
Regardless, the young lady kept her tone polite enough. ...Even if her disinterested gaze left no doubts about her opinion on him. "Good evening, Doctor. How have you been?" Manners first and foremost. Not that she really cared about his well-being. Pushing the pleasantries out of the way, she flitted onto the actual matter at hand. "More importantly, what manner of questions bring you to my doorstep?" No one came all this way unless they wanted something. Potions... Artifacts... Questionable favors... There was a handful of reasons why anyone would seek out a witch.
Letting out a tired sigh, Lilith brushed her hair aside and cast a suspicious glance at the visitor. "Well... I suppose I have to invite you in..." Never let it be said that Lady Nevermore wasn’t a gracious host to her... hmph... allies... She used the word loosely. With a wave of hand, she shooed the servants away, back to their positions. She didn’t expect the scientist to cause trouble. Though admittedly a part of her wished for him to try... Any excuse to kick him out... Motioning the man to follow, she headed back into the murky shadows. As soon as the doctor dared to step inside, the door would slam shut in his wake.
The grand foyer wasn’t in much better condition than the exterior. Biting gusts of wind slipped through the cracks in the walls. A squeaky rat scampered across the dusty floor and disappeared between the rubble. Only the central staircase seemed recently repaired. It led up to a dark hallway reaching deep into the castle. Floating lanterns lit the path. Shadows danced on the stone walls. The cold corridor ended at a door markedly more ornate than the others. Behind it one would find the guest room, a surprisingly cozy little place. The back had a large fireplace, while the center was taken by a round table and some soft-looking chairs. It was only here that the young lady finally addressed her guest again.

Speaking to her visitors obscured in the shadows is a nice touch, Grey tried to that once before during the Black Star mission before Morton turned on the lights on accident before he was finished ominously introducing himself to make a good first impression. And he could tell from her "..Oh, it's you." and look on her face that she is not happy to see Grey. It's far too late to turn around and leave. Besides, that would be rude to do so after just being let in to someone's home. Since she was polite enough to ask how he is doing, even though she probably doesn't care, Dr. Grey wanted to ask.
"Ah well you see I am doing wonderful thank you. Working on a new project called Project Helix, it's a symbiotic bio-engineered armor that would enhance the wearers abilities and give them the same abilities as the ones of the genetic components that make it up borrowed from various individuals. Able to allow even non Ki users to be able to use Ki and more and able to challenge even the toughest of warriors. I have already collected of many individuals for a prototype including a sample from a powerful Majin lady named Ala which would serve as the perfect bonding agent to allow the different types of DNA to be connected together." Grey explained.
Of course that would probably go in on ear and out the other with her, since she seems to not appreciate science much as a magic user, but Dr. Grey loves to brag about his projects and his achievements for it to be realized. She asked what questions the doctor was here for.
"You are right to assume I am here to ask you something, in fact I came to ask you about something you are an expert of. That expertise being on magic of course, and yes I know it seems odd for a man of science to be asking that, however some recent events have caused me to change my perspective of things. As a man who strives to seek all kinds of knowledge no matter what I have decided to ask someone who knows about this more then me to learn more on a subject I am unfamiliar with. That's why I came here Lady Lilith to your humble abode." Dr. Grey said.
It seems he managed to convince her to let her in and as he follows her inside he turns off his force field belt as it would be common courtesy to do so as one would normally do with closing an umbrella before entering a house. He noticed that the place was derelict. Perhaps Lilith found this old abandoned castle and made a home out of it. Or she was the one who made this castle abandoned. Either or is a possibility with her it seems. Although his opinion of this place soon was turned around when he saw the cozy sitting room that Lady Nevermore had.
As Grey sat down one of the fine pieces of furniture the lady offers him some tea "Yes please, with plenty of sugar." he would respond.

Listening to the scientist prattle about his project made the witch roll her eyes. "A Majin... Sure..." She hadn’t taken the doctor for someone who believed in fairy tales. His little story was up in fantasy alongside the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and Gods of Destruction. Someone had clearly tricked him. Still, she kept the thought to herself out of courtesy. If he wanted to believe something as ridiculous as a tale of a living putty creature with infinite magical power, then that was his problem. However, even the dismissive woman perked up at the mention of magic. Well, being rightfully called an expert helped of course. She was happy to share her expertise with like minded scholars.
Lilith clicked her fingers and a teapot appeared on the table. Hovering a touch above it actually. "Ignite." Another snap lit a brilliant blaze in the fireplace and a small flame beneath the pot. Gentle warmth slowly seeped across the room. The water begun to boil. She dug a small pouch from her sleeve and sprinkled dry leaves into the pot. A powerful aroma started drifting in the air. Finally she wagged a beckoning finger and a chair tapped on its legs to offer her a seat. The whole castle was indeed her domain, ready to fulfill her every whim. Sparks of magic lingered everywhere.
The young lady puffed her petite chest with pride. She found a small yet undeniably smug smile. "Hum, well, I am glad you have come to see reason. Magic is the superior craft after all." She leaned a little closer, resting her hands together. Genuine curiosity shined in her crimson gaze. "Recent events, hm? Now I wonder... What could possibly make a dedicated man of science..." Bleh, the word still left a bad taste in her mouth. "...have such a drastic change of heart?" She had heard rumors, of course. Some fiends from the inferno liked to gossip. However, she rarely had any reason to believe what or whom they claimed to have seen down there.
Before long, the pot whistled gently. The flame heating it faded away. Lilith’s eyes lit up with a blue glow. Two cups appeared and the hovering pot expertly poured both to the brim with luminescent green liquid. She cast a glance towards the corner of the room where a tiny chest sat. It could have been just a trick of the light, but it seemed to shift softly. As if... heaving with deep breaths... "Chester, sugar." The chest suddenly twitched. Stubby wooden legs clattering against the stone, it hurried over. Slowly the lid opened agape, revealing a set of razor sharp teeth framing an inky black abyss. A long, leathery tongue passed a bowl of sugar and a spoon to the doctor.
Afterwards, the chest creature remained by the visitor’s side. Somehow it stared up at him... Without eyes... Meanwhile, the witch paid it no mind. As if this was nothing unusual. She simply took a sip, waiting patiently for her guest. Whether he wished to share his story or ask questions, she was all ears. As long as the topic was magic, she had all night. It was such a rare chance. Words: 535 [Total = 1432] doctorgrey

Grey would note the skepticism in her voice when he would say that she met a magic, odd how she wouldn't believe in a being of pure magic. Although considering how rare Majin seem to be than it would make sense that some people would not believe their existence. Quite a shame though he thinks that she would be quite fascinated by Majin Ala. She can believe whatever it she wants to believe. It's not Dr. Grey's business what Lilith does or does not believe. Someday she might meet a Majin and her world view would perhaps change as well like Grey has.
"Let's just say for now that the experience was quite life changing." Grey would say.
He took the sugar bowl and tea cup from Chester and began to place as much sugar as he needed into the tea. He noticed that Chester kept "looking" at him through his open compartment. Only Lilith knows how many people that came here and were eaten by Chester. And it seems that Chester might be wanting to eat the doctor. Grey tries not to make er eye contact with the chest as he sips his tea.
"Lovely tea Lady Lilith you surely know how to brew tea well and have fine taste. What type of tea is it may I ask chamomile, oolong tea?" Grey would politely ask. Normally he would be able to tell but since he put a lot of sugar into it the flavor has been mostly masked with a sweet taste. After taking another sip Grey decided to be a little more serious.
"Now Lady Nevermore, I know you probably am not fond of me. You probably do not want to tell me out right about what I want to know about magic without something in return. Perhaps we can trade secrets so to speak. I can trade what secrets I have, and in turn you can tell me what you know about magic. How magic works, how it is done, how can someone have it, what's it made out of, et cetera. After all you may have heard of me faking my death, but do you want to know what truly happened?" Grey would ask.
He then looked around nervously as if expecting someone to be listening in, even looking at the ceiling and the sky. He knows that the Supreme Kai and Kai's watch over the universe, but are they able to listen in on his conversations. If he tells Lilith what he knows he could let the higher ups of the universe know that he is working for an Outsider and that he cheated death which would most likely give him a worse punishment then being sent to Hell. Wait, perhaps Lilith has magic in place to prevent such a thing from happening.
"But before I divulge such secrets with you I need to know something first. Have you had a spell placed around this area so that powerful people with great magical abilities couldn't be able to listen in to our conversation? I am afraid what I may tell you may endanger the both of us if someone really high up were to hear us. After all Shinjin's have appeared now and then. Like the current King of Earth Xell." Dr. Grey would ask.
He would nervously scratch his arm as he is thinking what the punishment would be wrought on him for escaping Hell. They could put him into the Demon Realm probably and he can only imagine how unpleasant that is since the mighty Kusubu refuses to talk about it. Or even a fate worse then anything the doctor could possibly imagine. His hand holding the teacup shakes for a bit before he realizes he is about to spill his tea before he puts it down and calms down. He breathes in and out slowly to calm himself.
"Sorry I have been working myself ragged lately. Must have over stressed myself with working too hard on multiple projects at once. Multiple robot designs, Project Helix, that clone project Polaris told me to do before his passing, and many many Bio-Organic Weapons of my design. Lost a lot of sleep over it, although cause of my mutated body I don't need as much sleep as I needed as a human. I apologize for not being able to contain myself in front of you." Dr. Grey said.
It seems that he is starting to pick up Morton's anxiety. Usually he is the one who is calm and composed. Perhaps he should take a bit of a rest of vacation after this visit is over. Yes someplace nice to relax and unwind. Like a beautiful beach planet for instance.

Small sips softly washed away the taste of certain unsavory words. The witch lifted a curious brow at the scientist’s nonchalant deflection. She didn’t push the question though. Everyone was entitled to their secrets. Rather, she too shifted her mind onto the tea. "Ah, it’s a type of green tea, a special blend created by my family. You cannot get this anywhere else." The taste was sweet and refreshing with just the slightest hint of mint. Setting the cup down for a moment, she admired the emerald coloration and the ethereal glow. It emanated lovely energy. Of course there was much more to it than just simple glow that made it special... But the details would have been wasted on someone who didn’t understand magic.
As much as Lilith enjoyed flattery, there were actual matters to discuss as well. Without a word she listened to Grey’s flood of thoughts. "Well, your assumption is not inaccurate... But I think we can put our differences behind us. For magic." You ignorant mortal. The last part chimed only through her head. Had they been on worse terms, however, she wouldn’t have been as polite about it. "Trading secrets is quite a tricky subject, no? What means a lot to you might not mean much to me... And vice versa of course." Wearing a diplomatic mask, she didn’t outright reject the offer, but she was in no hurry to accept it either. A secret for a secret, hm? Tis rarely a fair trade...
The noblewoman was quick to wave the doctor’s fretting aside. "Worry not. This entire castle is shrouded in my magic. No manner of spying or scrying can pierce the veil." His paranoia was understandable, but pointless. She was very keen on retaining her privacy as well. Her lips curled into a sly smile. "Even the Shinjin are blind to my personal affairs. I am a witch after all. Defying gods is in my job description." They had tried to hunt her down and to interfere with her research on multiple occasions. Yet she still persevered. Thankfully Xell hadn’t deigned to visit her... Against him, she would have lost immediately... by societal convention. While a Shinjin no doubt, he was also the King and thus automatically above her in hierarchy. Unfortunately.
While the shaky scientist set his cup aside, the cold lady remained unwavering. She paid little mind to his rambling and simply focused on enjoying her tea. Stress, lack of sleep, questionable research projects… In a way, she could relate. However, she would have never allowed such things to affect her nerves. "Your apology is accepted." Rather than dwell on the shameful behavior, she was ready to trade secrets. Curiosity sparked in the depths of her mind. Could the rumors be true? Only one way to find out. Lilith lowered her empty cup and sighed. "As a show of good faith, I shall answer your first question..." But where to begin...? "Magic is a difficult subject. Especially for a commoner." Most people couldn’t even hope to grasp it, as they were too quick to deem it impossible. She lifted a finger and idly traced an invisible circle in the air. "To put it simply, magic works by manipulating the forces that hold the reality together. Imagine an impossibly elaborate fabric held together by countless silken strands... If a strand is brought loose and sewn again, the pattern changes. And that pattern becomes reality." To underline her point, she channeled a spark of magic into her fingertip. The circling motion left a glowing circle in the air.
The witch returned her gaze on the doctor. "That’s the most basic idea of it... As for how and all the other questions you had... Well, I do not share my secrets for free." Honestly she wasn’t even sure if she would really teach this man a thing... But he didn’t need to know that. She leaned forward expectantly. "So now it is your turn. What truly happened after your supposed death?" If the secret was good, he might have a trade for further information. And if not, then the little meeting would come to an end... Rather simple. Grey fears are alleviated as Lilith explains to him that she has a spell to make sure that no one would be able to know what they would be saying. With that he continued to drink the rest of his green tea. He then listened attentively to Lilith's description on magic. So it's basically manipulating things at a quantum level to be able to conjure up elements, create something out of nothing, and all sorts of other things. Truly a terrifying power, in the wrong hands who knows what one could do with magic, of course Lilith thankfully doesn't have any big ambitions to misuse his magical powers with and works for the empire.
"Interesting, in a way it makes sense, at least by looking at from a certain point of view. Now about my death, I have told the public that it was a clone of mine that perished. That was but a lie because they couldn't handle the truth. The truth is it was me who died on the Neo Gete Star. I ended up being judged by King Yemma, sent to Hell, and everything I thought I know was changed forever. How I came back though is a lot more complicated." Grey explained.
He ended up putting a more serious expression as he clasped his hands together. Looking straight ahead at Lilith about to tell her the whole truth. Would she be able to believe him? He won't know until he can try to explain it.
"You know the meteorite that mutated me that generated an odd new energy, the one where I gave you a piece of it in exchange of letting me into the empire? It's much older then I originally thought, older then the multiverse itself, it came from a powerful being that has been living in this universe and has been watching and absorbing all of the knowledge as life formed around it as it drifted in space. This being came from the void of nothingness outside of the universe, there are many others like it known as Outsiders, and the energy radiating from a piece of it's shell was enough to mutate me from an eighty six year old human male to this young looking oddly skinned body. He first entered my subconscious mind while I was asleep and told me everything about him, from his origins to how he and the other Outsiders were attracted to our universes and were beaten back and killed by the gods. Nutropeks, as he now dubs himself, and I share a similar goal in the improvement and evolution of every race in the universe." Grey would say.
He then would get up and stand next to the fireplace staring at it intently as a long shadow is cast from his body before he begins to speak more.
"While Nutropeks mostly wants to get back at the gods and to have mortal beings such as you and I to be able to no longer be stuck under their heel, I merely only want to create genetic perfection and unity. Just imagine, if every race had the same power and abilities as the rest. A human could regrow lost limbs like a Namekian while a Saiyan could as well! Then perhaps if everyone was the same then all bickering and fighting would cease. So I agreed to help him since we share the same endgame goal." Dr. Grey says.
He then stopped for a moment as he turns his to look over his shoulder to look at Lilith. "I am willing to bet you must think I am probably crazy at this point, I thought I was going mad too or that it was just a dream, but that voice he spoke to me sounded like the same voice I heard from the whispers in the meteorite. Since I died not soon after he made contact with me Nutropeks took over the body of an oni to help me get out of Hell, first we made a distraction releasing the contained energy of the Outsider that was killed on Zalt. After the distraction was made Nutropeks used an ancient forbidden resurrection spell to bring me back to life. I then found myself back in the land of the living in my old body that has been restored. If you want proof I can you show you right here." Grey would say.
He would then take a handkerchief out and wipe off the makeup on his forehead that was covering a strange symbol that Lilith would see carries a strange power that she can tell is magic but unlike any she has ever seen. It glowed intensely after being uncovered.
"That shard I gave you is more valuable then we both realized. Right when I thought I figured out all I needed to know and how everything works then something new shows up to make me question everything and to show you that there is much more to how things work then what you realize. Not just this universe, but the multiverse, and beyond. That is why I came here, to seek out the answers of something new and strange to me so that I can understand it all. All so I can usher in, a NEW ERA!" Grey said.
While a bit over-dramatic at the end he hoped that the secrets he divulged would be enough for Lilith.

Truthfully the witch wasn’t expecting her guest to grasp any of the explanation. Magic, by its very nature, defied understanding. Whether it made sense or not was irrelevant. She showed no surprise as the doctor admitted he had, in fact, died. He didn’t seem all that distraught about it either. The familiar name was met with an understanding nod. "Ah, King Yemma... I’ve never met him, but I’ve heard he can be somewhat... stiff and surly." Well, that’s how her dearly departed mother had described him anyway. Personally she had nothing against the ancient bureaucrat. In fact, her clan’s dealings with the ogre were simply... formalities. There was really nothing to judge, for their souls were destined to Hell from the moment they joined the Nevermore covenant. All power came at a price.
Lilith listened attentively as Grey regaled his tale. And quite a tale it certainly was... She remembered the piece of the meteorite, of course. It served well as a paperweight. The rest, however, was a little harder to swallow. Multiverse? Outsiders? Nutropeks? Every second his rambling strayed further and further from reality. Yet she said nothing. Her cold visage betrayed neither amusement nor disbelief. If... for a moment... she entertained the thought that he was telling the truth... Then he was still wrong. She wasn’t stuck under anyone’s heel. By power and birthright, she was above concepts of race and divinity. Only titles granted by the society mattered.
By the end of the explanation, the witch echoed the doctor’s sentiment about being crazy and shook her head. "Think? Hardly." She aimed a flat stare at him. "I know you are most definitely crazy." Which wasn’t to say she didn’t believe the man. On the contrary. "It’s not surprising, mind you. Being cast to Hell tends to have that effect on mortals." If anything, she was almost mildly impressed that he hadn’t regressed to a mindless monster or a weeping wreck. It served as a proof of his mental fortitude. And speaking of proofs... "At any rate, your presence here is undeniable proof that souls can escape and regain their physical bodies. Thank you for confirming my hypothesis." Her research on the subject could move forward now.
Falling silent, the young scholar studied the glowing symbol closely. Its energy was neither heavenly nor infernal. Simply seeing it felt... wrong. Unnatural. How fascinating. She lowered her gaze until her bangs cast a grim shadow over her features. A sudden chill crept across the room. Even the light shuddered. "Beware, doctor... You are playing with powers beyond your comprehension..." Her dark warning took an echo from the stone walls. While she couldn’t identify what sort of spell exactly had brought him to life, his description of ancient and forbidden told her enough. The last thing she needed was an amateur unleashing some manner of apocalypse in her home.
But... With proper education...
Lilith lifted her head and offered some semblance of a smile. "That being said, I do believe it’s my turn to share some secrets." She was a woman of her word after all. Luckily, she knew exactly how to continue with the little lesson. "Magic is an art of sacrifice. In order to manipulate the strands of reality, you must offer something in return. Different schools of magic each have their own approach. Mana, blood, prayers, rituals, reagents... Just to name few." She clicked her fingers and summoned a thick tome with midnight black covers. It fluttered open, passing through countless notes until it arrived to the very same list she had just mentioned. Each one also had the school of magic accompanied by it. Sorcery, hemomancy, miracles, voodoo and alchemy respectively.
Turning the book towards the doctor, the witch traced her finger down the page. "In other words, to gain magic you must first choose what you are willing to sacrifice." She rose from her seat and stepped next to her familiar for a demonstration. "For example, I am a witch. That means I sacrifice mana -my own ki refined and distilled through my body- to manipulate my surroundings with spoken spells." Fingers coiling, she uttered a single word beneath her breath. "Shrink." Magic crackled and suddenly Chester shrunk down to the size of a toy. She lowered her hand and allowed the tiny mimic to hop onto her palm. Smiling smugly, she showed the scientist the shrunken creature.

Of course at first she didn't believe him before showing her the proof. He expected this, and he is lucky that the only thing he suffered in Hell was utter boredom. Mind numbing bored him that gnawed at him in a cesspool full of slack jawed simpletons and the sweaty drunk oni guards that were moving the wandering souls around. Honestly the worst punishment that could be given to Grey for the bad things he has done. Thankfully the good he has done outweighed the really bad stuff so he got a less severe punishment.
However she does seem to believe that she has been to Hell at least considering he said he met King Yemma. Perhaps one of her various spirits that are roaming around her castle told her about. The many things that were going around her castle didn't go unnoticed to Grey. And he wouldn't doubt that one of them might've been from Hell that she summoned to do her bidding. Who knows what else she could summon with her magic.
It seemed that his proof was enough for Lilith, of course she warned him about messing with powers that are most likely far beyond his control.
"I am all to aware of the risks Lady Lilith, but I am a man who makes risk daily in order to get the best end results. Besides Nutropeks managed to go out of his way to revive me so I could continue my work. For that I owe him, and as long as he doesn't do anything that endangers anyone he and I are on the same page. He wants me to use his energy and be able to make it into a new energy source for people to use so that it would mutate others like how I was mutated but with only the positive side effects and not the negative ones. A clean renewable energy source and a way to make people more intelligent and able to remember anything that they experienced or read before, it will glorious." Grey gushed.
He then listened to her explanation of how magic works and is interested. He was amused of course seeing the intimidating Chester shrunken into a small size. He stroke the chest with a finger and of course the chest would bite his finger which cause Grey to wince. It only hurt slightly like a clam clamping on his finger, a clam with teeth. Luckily he has some antibotic's on hand, who knows what's been in that thing's teeth even if it was shrunken and the germs would be too he can't risk an infection.
"I see, magic makes more sense in that context. Nothing can be made from nothing so something must be given for something to be created. No different then recycling things to make something new out of them. It's like a sort of equivalent exchange, has a nice ring to it don't you think? Funny long ago magic seemed to be something that couldn't be explained and was nothing but impossible, but with your explanations it sounds all the more plausible, I would like to hear more." Dr. Grey would say.
He would then sit down back on the chair and look towards Lilith preparing to listen to what she has to say next.

Lilith could only roll her eyes at Grey’s gushing. Clean renewable energy... Increased intellect... Oh and happiness for everyone, right? She had also heard grand promises like those more times than she cared to count. Such beautiful little lies that slithered into one’s ears and took root in their mind... Demons had a way with words, didn’t they? Many naive fools were so eager to believe them. "Glorious... Right..." Sarcasm dripped from her quiet mutter. Hmph, if he was so eager to throw away his purity and eternal soul, then she certainly wouldn’t stop him. As long as it didn’t happen on her property at least.
Chester, meanwhile, feistily defended itself against the offending finger. With a mighty chomp! Well, as mighty as a toy-sized chest could manage at least. Naturally its strength had shrunken proportionally too. Those tiny teeth could barely pierce skin anymore. Still, the creature clattered victoriously as the man withdrew his hand. The witch gently patted the wooden lid gently, eliciting a content squeak of tiny hinges. She lowered the familiar down and curled her fingers again. Magic twinkled between her nails. "Grow." On the command, the mimic puffed back to its original size and scampered back to her side.
The scientist’s sentiment got an amused hum out of the witch. Equivalent exchange? "Hm, a cute choice of words... I happen to know a young alchemist who would agree with you wholeheartedly..." She trailed off, mostly musing to herself. Truth to be told, it was oddly refreshing to share her knowledge like this. To have someone genuinely interested in her talents. Perhaps... In a different life, a different universe... She could have been a teacher. And usher a New Era of magic. ...Tch, no, an utterly ridiculous thought. She couldn’t even see herself as the matriarch of her very own coven, not on account of her eternal youth.
Pushing the foolish ideas aside, the young lady continued her little lesson. She had only one more thing she was willing to share. Usually she would’ve demanded something expensive in return, but today she was feeling... generous. She started by shaking her head solemnly. "Frankly, my brand of magic isn’t something I can teach you. Your body is, shall we say, incompatible with Nevermore clan magic." His gender was the very first blockade. There was no such thing as a male witch after all.
However, when it came to the magical arts, Lilith always had a plan. With a wave of her hands and a wisp of magic, she summoned a quill and a piece of parchment on the table. Even without anyone to hold it, the quill started dancing. "You’ll want to seek out a colleague of mine... The alchemist I mentioned, young master Elric. I believe his methods are best suited for your... scientific nature." Eugh, no, still hated that word. "You’ll need to cross a couple of dimensions, find your way to a new realm..." The inky lines formed instructions and mystical coordinates that would take the doctor far beyond the border of reality. Wagging a finger, she sent the arcane map floating into his grasp. She cocked her head with a rare, sharp smile.

A young alchemist huh, Dr. Grey has heard about alchemy how it's the act of transmuting matter and turning base metals into golds. He also remember reading about supposed experiments to create an elixir for eternal life. Sounded like a pipe dream but if magic is real then perhaps alchemy could be done as well, and so would this so called immortality elixir. Just imagine creating that and mass produce it for everyone across the universe. Immortality is a huge step in creating the perfect being.
It seems that Lilith's type of magic is unable to be used by Grey. Perhaps it is because he is not related to her by blood or some other reason. He then watches as she conjures a pen and parchment to scribe down the directions to this Elric she mentioned. Saying that alchemy would be more of his style and that he would have to go to an entirely different universe to do it. Of course she is right to think that this would not be a problem for him.
He originally wanted to dabble in building a time traveling machine before he learned that was illegal. If he was going to mess with space time he decided inter-dimensional travel was possible. He wonders though if this universe that the Elric is from is from one of the twelve universes he heard about, or if they from a multiverse beyond this one. Which means that everyone are just small insignificant specks on an omniversal scale. Well on the bright side if he ever needed to escape this universe and just escape into another one he is glad that that option is on the table.
"I thank you for the recommendation and when I figure out a way for easy inter-dimensional travel I will give this young alchemist a visit. Although I mostly wanted to ask because I was wondering if Project Helix would be able to use magic? You see a few of it's genetic donors have different kinds of magical abilities. Project Helix is supposed to be able to replicate and perform anything that can be done by any race and or person, I was hoping perhaps to show them footage of magic in action so that they too can copy that themselves. If you were going to make a symbiotic bio armor that could allow someone to do something they couldn't before, might as well allow them to be able to to do everything." Dr. Grey explained.

Much to the young lady’s pleasant surprise, the scientist didn’t deem her directions impossible. Clearly he was more open-minded than his hopeless peers. Although... The more she heard about this Project Helix though, the more she realized open-minded was perhaps the wrong word for it. "Quite ambitious of you, doctor." Utterly insane actually, she wanted to say, but opted against it. Not her project, not her problem.
Lilith lifted her hands up, gathering a handful of squirming shadows in one and an orb of light in the other. The air between them crackled with sparks of arcane static. "Magic is fickle. It forms cliques and reacts poorly, even violently to opposing types. Shadow magic shuns light magic. Curses clash with blessings." Simply by bringing her hands close, she caused the sparks turn into unstable bolts. Both spells tried to flee her grasp, to push each other away. "It is a fundamental fact of the universe, an immutable truth as old as time itself." All attempts to challenge the notion had ended predictably in devastating failure.
The witch swept her hands downwards, dispelling the quarreling magics. Ignoring the stinging pain, she moved on with the lecture. "It... can be done. I for one can mimic any spell, any technique I have seen in action. It took me over 10 years to learn and master." After a moment of pompous pride, her attitude deflated slightly. Shoulders slouching a little, she let out a tired sigh. "However... Even with my masterful control, I could never hope to remember, much less wield every spell I have ever encountered. No one can manage that." As far as she was concerned, bringing peace to the universe was a realistic goal next to getting fundamental forces to cooperate.
Well, no matter. That was beside the point.
Holding up a finger, Lilith brought her point to a close. "So, to answer your question... Yes, people can learn all kinds of magic. But not every kind of magic. A small but important distinction." She paused to ponder. Hm, perhaps having these... genetic donors... with differing abilities would broaden the scope. After all, children of witches and wizards tended to inherit something from both parents. Still, gaining everything at once was impossible. "Aside from that, you’ll need an actual magical instructor. Having mere footage is pointless if the students can’t feel the actual flow of magic as it happens." She knew that all too well after experimenting with her Mimicry. Direct exposure was crucial. Makes sense, two opposing elements usually do not get along with each other. It's not like magnets where opposites attract or math where a negative times a negative is a positive. Ice and fire, water and fire, earth and fire, a lot of it usually seems to be against fire. He should make note of this for when he is making Helix. Doesn't want to cause some kind of horrible magical reaction that would end up killing his creation, and the poor fool who it would be attached to. Grey does not envy whoever he finds as a test subject for it, he wouldn't be caught dead in it.
Those thoughts aside, he then listened to the advice she offers about giving Helix an actual magical instructor.
"I see, it's more so something that needs to be felt then being able to be mimicked just by thorough observation. I shall keep that in mind Lady Nevermore. Of course while there are seven samples of genetic material used for them only four of them is magical. Amatricina the current Queen of the Demon Realm a sample of which graciously given to me by Kaijin, Maijin Ala who I told you about earlier, the former Demon King Piccolo from back when he had demon energy within him, and the pompous God King Xell himself. Ala's DNA is the key to having all of these different types of DNA to work in tandem." Grey explained.
Of course he recalls that she does not seem to believe much in Majin's, although she didn't believe his story at first until he offered actual physical evidence. Of course, he has some on him at all times. He gets out a device and begins to chuckle.
"I forget you don't believe in Majin's apparently. Well then, perhaps this ought to change your mind." Grey said.
He then shown a holographic view of Majin Ka's body from the scan of her.
"This is from a scan of Ala's clone Ka's body. Done with a machine of my design. Complete accurate holographic recreation from the outside and inside." Grey gushed showing the insides of the Majin's body.
"Of course if holographic proof not enough I also have this picture she had made do with her after our tests were over." Grey said.
He then showed a pic of Ala taking his phone and making a selfie with Ka, a nervously smiling Grey, and Morton tied up being carried by a bunch of the tiny Zam's.
"The Majin's are just as terrifying as the legends and stories they say. I dare say even the Frost Demons don't match up, sounds blasphemous I know but it's true. They are so close to perfection, and yet so very far. From what I gathered from Ala Majin's are very emotionally unstable it doesn't take much to set them off it was like talking with a child that's armed with a nuclear detonator. However she has proved a valuable asset in my research and studies." Grey explained.
He even thought of perhaps writing a book on Majin's to publish his findings on them based on his research on Ala. He'll call it The Molecular Miracles of the Marvelous Majin's. Has a very nice ring to it, he always wanted to make a book. Would provide a lot of extra funding for his research too. Not that he needs it but it wouldn't hurt.

Lilith quirked a curious brow at the familiar name. To think Queen Amatricina would cooperate with a mortal was quite a shock. She had always thought the towering woman was a man eater. In every meaning of the term. Then again... Perhaps this mysterious Kaijin fellow had obtained the sample through other methods... No, best not to think about that. She sat back down and the floating teapot poured her an another cup. The chuckle immediately rubbed her the wrong way, but she bit her tongue for now. Clearly Gray was dying to share more of his findings. Admittedly she was curious about this Ala creature...
The young lady idly sipped her tea while the visitor displayed his technology. Well, the sudden reveal certainly did change her mind. Eyes widening, she closely scrutinized the presented imagery. The encounter was explained with undeniable conviction. Hmm... So far she had thought the man was simply ignorant of magic. But now she could see he was actually... A hopelessly naive fool.
Once the scientist was quite done with his gushing, the witch sighed heavily. "Doctor..." Pinching the bridge of her nose, she forced herself to word this as kindly as she could. "There is no such thing as a Majin. They are a mere myth, a children’s tale started by a failed wizard ages ago." She leveled a cold and uncompromising glare at the man. "You were fooled by a demon." Giving the harsh truth a moment to sink in, she studied the picture closely. Hm, pink skin... And pitch-black eyes with crimson pupils... Oh. Of course. How typical. "Some type of succubus judging by the shameless attire." Tch, flaunting her ridiculous figure like that... Definitely a dream demon...
Still, perhaps there was a learning opportunity here.
Lilith wagged her finger dismissively. The hypnotic motion left a trail of sparks in its wake. "When dealing with magic, you cannot afford to trust everything you see and hear." Suddenly her eyes lit up with a baleful glow. The walls of the room unfolded like a cardboard box forced open, revealing a fiery inferno. Lava lakes and erupting volcanoes stretched far into the horizon. "For beings like me, reality is just a matter of opinion you see." With a click of her fingers, the unsettling illusion shattered and the room returned to normal. "Even I could be lying to you right now and you would never know it." Having made her point, she shifted her focus back onto the tea. Words: 416 [Total = 4278] doctorgrey

It seems that Lilith still doubts the existence of Majin's even with Grey's evidence. She seems to write it off as some type of demon that fooled Grey to use him. Although Grey couldn't help but find it ironic that she writes off Majin's as children's tales. Considering most witches show up in those sorts of tales. Usually as some type of villain to teach kids a lesson.
To make her point she then proceeds to warp the room around her using some kind of illusion magic. He was starting to get post traumatic stress disorder cause it was starting to remind him of Hell. Even if Hell didn't look like this which is usually typically is seen as on Earth. However he knew this was fake so he couldn't "feel" the heat from this blazing illusion from his brain being fooled by it. And like glass the magical illusion fades as Lilith made a extremely great point about how she could even be tricking him some way with magic and wouldn't even know it.
"With all of that in mind I can see why you would be so skeptic as to believe it from a hologram and a digital photo, after all there is probably magic that can mess with modern day technology and control it better then any hackers ever could. However, I know what I witnessed that day and it was all too real. A demon would want something actually substantial in return like information, loyalty, or even my mortal soul however the only thing she got in return to comply was food. She shown the ability to split into multiple copies of herself right before my very eyes with her strange ooze like body structure and even demonstrated her species regeneration capibilites by blowing up one of these tiny Zam Majin's she spawned that then reconfigured itself good as new. Many of her abilities are like what the Majin legends have said including an ability to absorb people to gain their appearance and power hence her strange appearance, even her energy signature is unrecognizable and odd like the legends said of Majin's Ki being extremely hard to read. You probably still have doubts about her existence, rest assured you can meet as she lives here on Earth on an island near this one island called Tiger Island, since you were generous enough to give me coordinates to another universe I shall give you this the coordinates to this area in return." Dr. Grey said.
He then got out a small device where he typed the coordinates of where he met Ala from memory and the small handheld device printed out a small card of paper showing to coordinates to the location. He then proceeded to hand it to Lilith. He then went and have himself another cup of her green tea to calm his nerves. That hellish landscape illusion was so bright and red he thought he was going to get a seizure. Of course can't forget the sugar.

The young witch rolled her eyes when the scientist insisted on being wrong. Tch, men were so susceptible to succubus charm. They eagerly believed everything the demon told them. Even when it was utterly ridiculous. Next he would probably claim he sought out the smutty girl of his own accord. That’s what they always made their victims believe... Her nose wrinkled at the man’s mention of... food. Ew. Knowing exactly what succubi ate, she was glad that he didn’t go into details.
As the doctor listed the so-called proofs, the noble’s opinion continued to plummet. Every now and then she muttered a protest, but she was fairly sure he wasn’t listening. "Cloning yourself is nothing special..." Given enough time, even a Saiyan ape could learn that trick. "Regeneration isn’t unusual either..." Most demonic and divine creatures possessed it to varying degrees. "I don’t even want to know what she has absorbed..." And all of this was assuming the dream demon had actually displayed those skills instead of... well... just dragging the man into a dream. His babbling about unrecognizable energy further solidified her doubts.
Lilith’s train of thought was promptly crashed by two simple words. Tiger Island. The crimson eyes widened. Horrible images flashed through her mind, far too vivid memories of agony and humiliation. That tiger-loving savage... Her cold mask cracked. Fear, disgust and hate seeped through. She glared at the piece of paper as if it had been the one to assault her. "I... shall consider it..." She lied coldly. Yet she wasn’t even going to touch it. "Chester, hold." The mimic immediately perked up and stretched its leathery tongue to snatch the note. Out of sight, out of mind...
Quickly the young lady took another sip to wash away the bad taste. Slowly her social mask mended. Majins... Bah. No matter. If he wanted to be utterly wrong then that was his problem. After regaining her cold composure, she finally lifted her gaze from the cup. "Hmph... Fairy tales aside, it’s good to see a scientist finally breaking free of his shackles." A smug smile found its way onto her features. "Magic has so much more to offer than science. It is the superior craft after all." It was a shame he was still clinging to his old methods though. Oh well, one step at a time. Patience was essential when learning magic. Words: 406 [Total = 4684] doctorgrey

He noticed that she winced at the thought of him giving the succubus "food". He then remembered what succubus are said to eat from the folklore he heard about from them. He even made a gross face but then shook his head.
"The food I given her in return was just some candy, sweets, and pastries from a gift basked. Along with some ramen Morton made for her, not what you think it is don't worry." Grey reassured.
If she was a succubus then Ala would've tempted him to try to sleep with her but she didn't do anything like that. Besides from what he gathered they don't even seem to have reproductive organs so to speak. Majin's wouldn't need or want to do that. In fact Grey doubts Ala even know what that is, but it's time to get his mind out of the gutter. And focus on the discussion at hand.
She was right again to say that cloning and regeneration was possible without being a Majin. Although the regeneration she had was beyond that of any regeneration he has seen. It was on a level that made her essentially immortal and almost invincible. It also correlated with what he read in the books he found of what little info he could scramble together on this race. It couldn't be some dream demon or a coincidence he has the sample as proof.
"Everyone's entitled to believe with whatever they want to believe. You have good arguments for why this is perhaps not a Majin. But I know what I experienced and she was definitely not a succubus, amusingly enough I did thought once that Majin's are some kind of demon since apparently Majin means Demon Person so I thought that meant they came from the Demon Realm or are connected. However from my research from little info on Majins I could find before meeting Ala they seem to be born from a powerful being that has existed since the universe was created, a living embodiment and chaos as if it itself is a natural disaster in this universe. This Majin Buu that Ala spoke of that act as their parent and progenitor." Grey explained.
He of course noticed the reaction to when he mentioned Tiger Island and the look at the paper. He did not know what happened there but he can only guess that it involved Tora not taking too kindly for a witch to be on his island. He of course is smart enough to not overstep his boundary and ask her what happened cause that might just spell his doom. She then noted that she is proud of a scientist stepping out of his comfort zone and to learn more of the "superior craft" of magic.
"Yes indeed, while science is used to explain and understand the laws of the universe it seems that magic can be used to manipulate and even break said laws. Because of that magic is indeed superior than science there is no denying that. However science is still essential in order to know the essentials of how everything works from physics to gravity and many other things, and perhaps without science there wouldn't even be magic or even vice versa. As someone who yearns for improvement in this flawed universe it is important to understand everything about it, from science to magic, to be able to change the universe and get rid of those flaws. Of course it won't be easy but with your help my dear Lady Lilith Nevermore I believe I am evermore closer to that goal being realized than I originally thought." Dr. Grey said.

More eye rolling ensued when the scientist assured it was not what the witch was thinking. Even when it obviously was. No doubt about that. Though she was tempted to try and set him right, her witchly intuition told her it was pointless. Clearly the confused man refused to admit that he was wrong. Some people were just so hopelessly stuck in their beliefs... So the cold girl just stared flatly and sipped her tea while the deluded doctor tried to defend his case. The mere mention of Majin Buu elicited a scoff. What next? Would he recite her that ancient children’s tale about Beerus the Destroyer? Absolutely ridiculous.
Gently the young lady set her cup down. Fortunately, the visitor knew better than to challenge the superiority of magic. Sooner or later he would understand just how much science was lacking in comparison... The kind words were met with a dull sigh. "You are trying to flatter me." After a brief pause, she smiled smugly. Pride filled her petite chest. "...But you’re right. Without my guidance you would have never gotten anywhere." The world of magic was elusive. It didn’t look kindly upon newcomers meddling with affairs beyond their understanding. Oh, she could’ve spend ages just discussing nuances of magic with like-minded people.
However, the teapot was sadly running empty... And the witching hour was approaching... Lilith leaned back in her seat and steepled her fingers. "Now then, I think it’s time for us to continue our respective research in our own lairs." No, she wasn’t going to offer any of her equipment or tomes to the guest. She wasn’t that hospitable. The door creaked open and one of the sobbing spirits loomed in the hallway. "My servants shall show you out." If Gray had anything left to say, now was the time. But perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to push the wicked woman’s patience. Words: 325 [Total = 5009] doctorgrey

He was being sincere when telling her magic was superior, however deep down he preferred science as it represented order as magic seems to be more chaotic in nature. He was being polite as not to mention that otherwise he would earn her ire. She does seem to be the type that would be very unpleasant once you make them angry. And Grey would very much not like to meet that side of her. He can only imagine what she would do to him with her magic, although the question is more so what can't she do to Grey rather than she would.
It seems that it was time for them to part ways as Lilith was going to do her own research. Grey bowed courteously toward the madam.
"Thank you for letting me in my dear Lady Lilith Nevermore. I hope this means we are more closer acquainted as fellow members of the Galactic Empire. Maybe our paths will cross again someday I'll need your assistance again with your expertise in magic. But alas it is time for us to part ways for now, Virtus Unita Fortior. I hope you make progress with what you are working on as well." Grey said.
Thankfully the servants that were guiding Grey back the way he came were kind enough to use an umbrella for him to cover his person as he exited the door and walked across the road as the storm was still going on. The Hellhounds growled at Grey's unfamiliar presence but they know that their master let him in without trouble so they didn't attack him but still did not trust him. As the ghostly servants left as Grey walked back in his spaceship Grey found Morton watching a fitness program and doing various programs with his many tentacles. He was even wearing a headband and various bands on each of his tentacles while doing various things.
He then was caught stood in shocked silence as he sees that Grey was already back. He then quickly turned of the hologram projector as he tried to awkwardly shuffle away.
"I was bored, and you were taking a while so I found this while scrolling through the Hypernet!" Morton said.
"You don't need to be embarrassed Morton everyone needs to get a little exercise now and then so that their muscles don't deteriorate. Speaking of which I need to get some myself, I've been working so much I may have neglected my body a bit. Can't die before I actually break scientific limits after all. Of course I don't know how much this mutated body can be able to take or last but it wouldn't hurt to at least do some aerobic exercise. Perhaps while we're on vacation, of course you're coming with." Grey said.
The best news Morton has heard since working with him, a break from all of this mad science. Grey went to the spaceship's restroom to reapply the makeup to hide the symbol that was on his forehead as a result of Nutropeks spell that brought him back to life. A simple and crude method but it worked. After all it seemed that the thing only glowed or emanated energy while it was uncovered. Makes things easier for him then so he wouldn't have to explain the symbol to the Galactic Empire.
"So...how did it go then?" Morton asked.
"Oh Morton it went better then I hoped, I learned all I needed to know and then some. And also more about Lilith, she is a very interesting individual that I'll be keeping an eye on. I have a feeling things are looking brighter for the future. A future that I have long since envisioned ever since that day that meteorite came to Earth. And the first step towards that future, Project: Helix, is almost complete." Grey said while finishing up his makeup.
And thus they set out back to Mitra, where Grey would complete Project Helix. Of course things would not go as he planned. The Symbiotic Super Suit would end up having a mind of it's own and end up making Grey it's host like some kind of parasite. The two would then have to be forced to share the same body as Grey tries to push Helix so that it can become the ultimate being it strives to be. Unfortunately it seems those tales, cannot be told anymore.
