"I am well aware of the fighting condition of us, Triploy. That isn't my concern." Dewberry started directly at the xenomorph style alien in front of him as he spoke, his words leaving his mouth as hard as his grey eyes, unlike the black eyes of the brown alien across the white, metallic desk. Both were standing, as well as wearing the same uniform, the only differences in attire being the presence of a helmet on the more Human like man, as well as the very small symbol on his left breastplate signifying his rank. Despite the apparent difference in rank as well as species, both spoke as equals. This was typical for Dewberry. He didn't consider himself one for formalities when there was an absence of a real command.
"You might be aware of our fighting condition, but my point is that we have no idea who we could summon with the flare." Dewberry took note of his second in command's tone, which was equally as confident, but still managed to have a concerned tone, in contrast to when he first met the soldier, who acted more know it all like other members of his species. "I tried to encrypt it, but it is dated to work with on that level. Who knows what will get it? The last thing we need is a Galactic Patrol showing up."
Dewberry crossed his arms, bracing for the rambling of a similar argument he had debated before. Veteran soldier Triploy was no fool and his caution saved him in the past, but today he knew he had to take the risk. He was surprised to find that the spotted xeno closed his mouth. He wondered if Trippy was as tired as he was.
"What other option do we have? It's either get off this rock or stay. It won't change and we don't have time to wait for a Frieza Force fleet to pass by." The Lieutenant reached up with his left hand to press into the button on his scouter to activate the short range comms. All the while not breaking eye contact with Triploy.
"Activate the communications flare as soon as it is ready and monitor long range channels. Keep your eyes on the sky a prepare for a boarding op."
"I appreciate your concerns, but we have other things to worry about now. Now get set for potential hostiles. Alert level is now a two." He returned his arms at his sides as he started to walk out, looking passed the lizard breed. His second hand man reluctantly nodded, his arms snapping to his sides as his form tightened up, a standard reaction after the constant drilling of military protocol. He then spun around and led the junior officer out of his own quarters and into the wasteland environment that was the outside. Other soldiers milled around, all of them looking uneasy. Neither of the two exiting the command office noticed that they both had their eyes locked on the heavens above, waiting for the stir of a vessel that could arrive at any moment.
