HOLLOW
World Type: "Planetoid" Colony
Climate: Controlled
Inhabited: Yes
Brief History:
Hollow is a mysterious city built out of the dismembered head of a ginormous monstrosity of demonic origin that was destroyed eons ago. It sits within a storm wracked nebula, making it quite dangerous to visit without knowledge of the proper navigation paths.
The creature was easily larger than most planets, and reason for death is unknown. It is still speculated whether or not it was a living breathing demon or a construct created by demons. The rest of its torso and limbs have never been foun, more than likely disintegrated at its time of death.
Being a strange anomaly among space, it drew in those interested in both science and the arcane. They burrowed through the eye sockets and emptied brain cavity within. The cavernous chamber was large enough to contain a large city, and soon would. Over the centuries, as more and more flocked to study the long dead monstrosity, the population bustled and thrived. These colonists mined the bone and lingering flesh for minerals, turning a profit far and wide with the exotic materials it was composed of. They also used it to build magnificent structures, and a sweeping metropolis.
A sect of wizards called the Aetherguard took ownership of the budding civilization. They built academies to study a way to tap into the residual demonic power within the skull. Breakthroughs were made early only, allowing the city to use it as a source of fuel for their industry without threatening corruption of the population. The Aetherguard also drew in the best engineers and architects, who worked with spell caster brethren to create a seamless balance between tech and magic. It wasn't long before Hollow became a place of awe and splendor.
The rise of the academies and Aetherguard came with it the de-facto rulers the Triumvirate. They were a trifecta of elite wizards that took the title of Prince., each peerless in their magical prowess. The Triumvirate dedicated themselves to expanding Hollow's influence, prosperity, and security. They discarded their identities and selfish ambition, instead wearing mirrored masks upon their faces.
Hollow soon entered a golden age, only to have it end a hundred or so years later when Lord Frieza arrived on the galactic stage. Fearing his rising power and conquering armies, the Triumvirate decided to cast Hollow into obscurity. They used the Black Fleet to intercept any ships headed to Hollow, destroying most of them without mercy. The few traders and outsiders they did let through, were hit with a spell to wipe their memories. Cut off from the galaxy, Hollow faded into legend, earning the moniker the Hidden City.
The Triumvirate and their agents worked in secrecy to erase all knowledge of Hollow from outsiders, visiting various planets and destroying any evidence in their archives.
Fast forward hundreds of years later, and Hollow shrunk a shadow of its former self. Even after Frieza's disappearance or death, the to remain in the relative comfort of secrecy. Hollow's populace dwindled and its wealth was squeezed dry. Only the Aetherguard stood to prominence with living lavish lifestyles, ignorant to the stagnation happening below them. The average folk of Hollow were indoctrinated with programs of brain washing and manipulation, keeping them quiet and complacent in their poverty.
That is until recently. The Namekian Lute of the Demon clan and his Leviathan allies discovered the city through the whispers of a defector and former member of the Aetherguard named Kouzi. Wanting to claim the treasure trove of demonic power still residing within the skull, Lute shattered the city's defenses in short order. The Triumvirate were slain and the throne was taken, with few civilian lives lost in the process.
This would go a long way towards acceptance.
The Demon King Lute ha started a series of reforms to restructure Hollow. Most of his policies have focused on uplifting and training the ignorant masses. He has made the Aetherguard his personal army and even brought Hollow into the fold of the Galactic Empire, having sworn fealty to Emperor Polaris. Trade has also been re-established. At first the people of Hollow were shaken and worried about their fate, but Lute has proven to be a stern yet fair ruler. Now they hope to see a second golden age bloom as a result.
After the Galactic Peace Accords the Demon King Lute abandoned his throne, handing it over to the demoness Kuueru. She currently reigns as the Queen of Hollow, following much of Lute's original intentions but with her own unique flare and far more political finesse.
