V1 Information
Motivations.
More than anything, Xell wants the power to enable him to save his universe from total annihilation. Whether that means enlisting aid or growing stronger himself, it doesn’t matter. As the guardian of his universe it is his responsibility to protect it, but he isn’t strong enough anymore. The threat he faces is too great and vast for him to handle. If he cannot figure out a way to defeat this evil, his entire universe will be destroyed.
Quirks.
As a Shinjin, Xell has a naturally calm demeaner and a peaceful attitude towards others. He has lived for many generations and in that time, has watched the beings of his universe grow in amazing and surprising ways. Some have learned to travel in space while others have created utopias. Even the more violent species, he marveled at for their pure fighting spirit. He is incredibly humbled by all the life in his universe. Xell is not one to think of himself as better than anyone just because of his station in life. If anything, realizing he was not powerful enough to stop the threat to his universe, humbled him more than anything else.
While wise in his own right, Xell is always eager to learn something new and is never disdainful of those who have more knowledge than him. He holds anyone with that kind of knowledge in high regard. Before it was destroyed, Xell actually had the largest library in any universe. He spent most of his time reading and gaining whatever bits of knowledge and understanding he could. He knows he can only seek to better himself in order to be the best guardian he can be. If that means learning from others, then he is grateful for the opportunity.
While Xell is naturally peaceful, due to the grave circumstances in his universe, he is wary of one species in particular. These beings have caused him nothing but trouble and heartache. They are the embodiment of everything evil. For this, he is afraid of them and it would take a lot for him to trust one or even be friendly with them.
Bonds.
Even though he exhibits a fondness for all beings in his universe, anyone Xell has ever considered a loved one is dead. All of the other Kais and even his own bodyguard, Tipa (Ty-pah), who sacrificed herself to give Xell time to escape the destruction of his planet in Other World. Tipa gave him the chance to avenge them all and save his universe. He cannot waste the opportunity.
Backstory.
Xell was born from the fruit of the great World Tree. A golden fruit meant that he was to become a Supreme Kai. He eventually became the assistant to the solitary Supreme Kai of his universe. He quickly grew a fondness for learning and reading while under his tutelage. This Supreme Kai was wise even among the Supreme Kai of the other universes. He created the largest library ever on his estate. It was so large that only the door to the library physically existed. The entrance took you to a pocket dimension that contained the entirety of the massive library.
Eventually the Supreme Kai of Universe 2 passed on and Xell ascended to take his place. Before he passed, the former Supreme Kai separated a part of his soul and created a bodyguard for Xell called Tipa. She was taller than Xell, by a foot, and incredibly stern. She had a white mohawk and pink skin like the previous Supreme Kai. Other than that, she was completely different to him. She cared not for books or learning. She only cared about protecting Xell.
She taught him what little combat knowledge the Supreme Kai gave her to pass on, but compared to the other universes’ Kais it was mediocre at best. For example, the Supreme Kais of Universe 7 were said to be able to beat the Warlord Frieza easily. The Supreme Kai of Universe 2 would have had trouble accomplishing that. Maybe even being defeated in the process. Xell had no desire to fight but was respectful of Tipa and genuinely wanted to please her, so he learned everything she taught… but even that wouldn’t be enough to stop what came next.
In Universe 2, the Saiyan race was never wiped out by Frieza like in Universe 7. Instead they thrived and continued to expand their empire through-out the galaxy. Not content with that, the Saiyans pushed out into the farthest reaches of the universe. Some of their warriors even gained the ability to ascend a normal Saiyan. They became some kind of Super Saiyan. As time passed, they had conquered or destroyed most of the universe. Their most powerful warriors had even ascended higher than a Super Saiyan. There seemed to be no limit to their power.
There was a civil war among the Saiyans that delayed their constant expansion but eventually that was resolved and the Saiyans continued ravaging everything in their path. Their conquering quickly became a concern when the Kai overlooking the living went to speak with them, fearing they would subjugate the entirety of the universe at this rate. While the general rule is to not intervene, at some point, as a protector, you have to step in.
He was killed almost instantly by their strongest warrior. The once-worldly Kai quickly traveled to see Xell, the current Supreme Kai of Universe 2, to warn him of the threat the Saiyans posed to the universe. Unbeknownst to them though, because of his intervention, the Saiyans learned of the Kais and Otherworld. It took a generation but they discovered a way to get there. The Saiyan King sent his most powerful warriors to destroy the Gods so nothing would stand in their way. Little did they know, but they could only get to Xell’s planet which was not actually in Other World. Still, if successful, they would destroy the Supreme Kai of their Universe, leaving no one to stop them.
The Shinjin on Xell’s planet didn’t stand a chance. The peaceful beings were wiped out with little fight to be had. Even Tipa, the strongest being there, couldn’t last against their onslaught. She fought to her last moments against several of the Saiyans. The battle was fierce, destroying large portions of the planet in the process. She was fighting to give Xell time to teleport away. He went to the only place he knew to go for help, Lord Zen-Oh.
Lord Zen-Oh proclaimed that he would send Xell to Universe 7 where some of the mightiest warriors in all of the universes lived. If he could get strong enough or get enough support to defeat the Saiyans in his universe, Zen-Oh wouldn’t destroy it to keep them from spreading to the other universes.
So fearing the literal destruction of his universe at either the Saiyans or Lord Zen-Oh’s hands, Xell is sent to Universe 7 to find a way to save Universe 2.
