Planet Radia (Formerly Frieza #79)
The Queen of Saiyans stepped off her shuttle, descending the ramp with a flowing grace. Snow filtered down from the gloomy sky above. Saiyan warriors gathered around the landing platform all snapped to attention, backs rigid and fists placed against their chests. Her breath exited her lips forming a plume of mist. She gazed off into the distance, eyeing the planet now named in her honor.
She stopped at an alcove between the landing pad and the fortress, resting both her hands at her hips.
Black smears, where smoke and ash still rose up from the battlefield, marred the view of the ice clad mountains. Still, there was something beautiful about it. The planet could not sustain life, nor did it have an atmosphere of its own. Beyond ridge she could see the wavering glow of the atmosphere generators, recycling breathable air in a large dome that surrounded the fortress for hundreds of miles.
Princess Gingera, her sister, descended next and stood beside her.
"It's cold," she said.
Radia slung an arm around her and pulled her close. "Yes. But, it is ours. The Dominion has grown well. With Kabocha and this planet in our grasp, we now dominate the Southern Quadrant."
Supreme Commander Onyon strode forward, a silent sentinel in his matte black armor. He bowed before the two regal females.
"You took this planet faster than I thought Supreme Commander," she said.
"It is not I you should give credit to. Kress (Kress ) and Ruta (Ruta ) deserve it. They defeated the leader here an secured the fortress," Onyon said.
"I saw the reports. You made them into Elite Warriors. I am glad, they deserve it for their efforts in this war thus far."
"I received reports that Lord Glacio and the Frieza Force armada attacked Planet Earth. Apparently the leader of the planet died in the attack. Lord Glacio was badly injured," Onyon said.
"I wonder what game Lord Snow is playing. First he hires that criminal Sawba (@li ) to attack Kanassa and have it framed on us. Now he provokes both the Galactic Patrol and the Earthlings."
"They're all scumbags," Gingera said and shrugged. "What does it matter? Can we kill them yet?"
Radia chuckled. "If it were that easy."
"What is our next move?" Onyon asked.
"We are going to rebuild this fortress. We are going to train more warriors. We are going to build more ships. The fight is over, for now. The Frieza Force has given us this world. They sacrificed it to not overstretch themselves, despite its strategic value. I believe they are trying to draw us into pride and overconfidence."
She saw the obvious disappointment in Onyon's face, but knew he wouldn't challenge her logic. Wanting to fight was good, but a real warrior knew when to fight.
"How did the meeting on Brench go?"
"It went well. They are hesitant to commit themselves. They're not the type to gamble without the odds being in their favor. They agreed that a mutual defense pact and coalition would service their needs at this time, but they want to wait and see how we do first. In their eyes, we look like an over-zealous band of mercenaries that are playing at having an empire. I suppose, we'll have to prove otherwise."
Aboard the Frieza's Revenge in hyperspace.
"He's been in there long enough. Release him," Lord Snow said.
The reptilian doctor nodded and started to shout orders to his nurses to drain the medical machine. Snow's tail swayed behind and he folded his arms on his chest, waiting for Glacio to emerge. The healing bath drained out of the machine slowly, bubbles gurgling up. Glacio woke up, blinking a few times. He removed the face mask after the liquid level moved past his neck. After a couple minutes, the hatch opened and he stepped out, hulking form dripping all over the floor.
Glacio stood a good two heads taller than Lord Snow. Lord Snow watched quietly Glacio put on his battle armor and attached a new scouter to his face. Then they started to walk through the bowels of the Arcosian Cruiser.
"You did well Glacio," Snow said. "We could not have expected such... powerful resistance."
"My son Blizz (Son Godai ) was there," Lord Glacio said.
Snow glanced over, watching him go through the memories, face twisting in rage.
"I should have made sure he died a traitor's death!"
Snow chuckled. "Your sons have always been that way. We had a rebellious age too, didn't we? It'll pass and he will return. Try not to let your temper get in the way when he does."
Glacio stopped and punched a wall panel. It didn't stand a chance, caving inward. A pipe broke behind it, sending steam hissing into the hallway.
"I would scold you for that, but this is your ship," Snow said and shrugged.
"I don't get it. Why attack Earth? We lost Frieza #79 in the process. Sure, we killed their leader, but they weren't our real enemy. Now we shook another nest of pesky insects to harass us."
Snow gave him a look, the sort of condescending half-grin a mother gives to her child.
"You're not looking at the long game Glacio. You are good at hitting the target in front of you, not the next three targets that may appear anywhere around you. I didn't anticipate us losing on Earth, but still, my main goal was met. Things are destabilized there. They no longer trust the Galactic Patrol. Earth was their primary place of power in the Southern Quadrant. The Galactic Patrol will be paying close attention to the Saiyans as well."
Glacio seemed to turn over the rocks in his mind. "You're trying to destabilize them. To put them all on guard against each other?"
Snow raised his finger. "That's the spirit. I have another plan. One that will make things even more interesting. We may not even need to fight them ourselves."
Glacio grunted. "That's no solace for me. I enjoy a good fight."
"That's why you're always climbing out of healing tanks. We're lords not front line soldiers. You need to start acting like one."
