[South City - 11:00 A.M.]Ahh, South City. Casinos, resorts, a sprawling city-scape, and a beautiful beach surrounding the island it sits upon. One could easily describe the area as a paradise on Earth, and they wouldn't be quite wrong. If you've got the money, one can have a grand time there. Of course, for the people living there, it's like almost any other city, and just like any other city it has it's own host of problems. Crime, a high poverty rate, the usual. This fine morning was no different, in that regard. The sounds of gunshots fill the air as a panicked crowd begins running away from the Satan Bank. The ringing of the alarm bell blares through the air as a group of delinquents steps out of the entrance, bags of cash stuffed under their arms and a handful of firearms visible on their person. Leading the group is an imposing figure, standing easily over 7 feet tall. As they begin making their way down the steps towards a getaway flying car parked at the curb, he tilts his head slightly to his cronies following behind him, barking out, "Let's load up! Make sure that you get everything before going!""YES TEMPO SIR!"Stepping down to their vehicle, they open up the back and begin piling in the zeni bags. BATTLE TRACKER Action Summary:

Pow! Pow! Pow! If gunshots ringing through the air didn't tell Beat something fishy was going on, the screaming crowd running for their lives certainly did. And to think, he thought he could have a nice, relaxing day at the movies! He was starting to think he was stupid for even thinking such a thing. While he had no cool costume to slip into at times like this, at least his swords were tucked safely within the confines of their capsule; he never left home without them. "Man, why are the police late for everything? 'least I'll look pretty cool sending a couple of dumbasses to jail.." As he sifted his way through the thick, terror filled crowd, a woman bumped into him, nearly tripping over herself. The sign of fear was evident in her eyes, and she could barely get herself together. "O-Oh my god, I'm s-sorry.." "Hey, don't sweat it. What's going on? I'm about to solve this, I'm like, a superhero."She seemed fidgety and a little doubtful that Beat could do this on his own, but explained anyways. "Okay, uhm, well, I just got finished withdrawing my money and left the bank when these, these armed thugs just burst in there with all sorts of heavy weaponry! I don't think they saw me, or else they would've robbed me clean..do you actually think you can beat them?" "Definitely! They'll learn not to bring guns to a sword fight!"Her confidence in him hit rock bottom, and figuring him for some crazy idiot walking into his death, she promptly left without a word. "Sheesh, talk about a lack of confidence. Its not like I'm gonna get myself killed, since when did thieves know how to kick ass as hard as I do?"Soon enough, he was at the entrance of the bank, his twin swords at the ready. The door was blown wide open, and all sorts of suspicious looking vehicles were positioned outside. Instead of trying to find a spot to flank them, Beat just walked right on in. "HEY! This is my city, and you guys aren't stealing from nobody!"A bullet flew through the air, but Beat sliced it in half with scary ease. "Woah, tough crowd. I didn't even get to pose! Didn't your parents teach you any manners, or is the whole "I have no parents" thing why you're lashing out at the world like this?"That got them riled up for sure, as a hail of bullets rained down upon him. Sure, he could've -dodged- all of it, but it looked waaay cooler for him to walk through them, the bullets clanging harmlessly off of his skin. "Nah. See, you're gonna need to infuse those bullets with ki if you want to hurt me. I'm guessing that tall guy is the mastermind behind all of this? Sure looks like it!"His swords swung through the air, unleashing a series of shockwaves of cutting air pressure through the building from his raw power and speed, cleaving its way non-lethally through a crowd of mooks, stopping bullets, and aiming to slice the hair right off of that goliath's head. "I was never good at cutting hair, no refunds!" BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

With their money loaded into the car, the gang stepped back inside of the bank, going for a second trip to take as much extra zeni as they could before finally ditching the area. Tucking bills into bags and pulling them over their backs, they started heading back out towards the entrance, kicking aside the people they zip-tied and gagged on the ground. It looks like the fun wasn't over for them yet, though, as standing at the entrance was a simple-looking man, holding matching swords in either hand. Tempo motions towards them with his head, one of his mooks quickly pulling out a revolver and firing a round at the man. However, whoever this guy was, they weren't insane for trying to stop them, their blade gliding through the air as it bisects the shot. "Tch, get his ass!" At his command, the dozen goons flanking him all would pull out an assortment of firearms, unloading onto the mysterious swordsman. As some of the smoke clears, they see that they were still casually walking forward, unharmed by the assault, commenting on how they should've infused their rounds with ki. With a quick swing from his swords, a blast of air shot out at Tempa, clashing with the hair upon his head, only a single thread of which would be separated from his head, his hand quickly shooting out to it. Holding it in front of his eyes, he looks at it, seemingly confused before refocusing a glare at the new arrival. "Well damn, that little party trick actually did somethin' to me. I'd congratulate ya if I wasn't gonna kill you for it, though. But you all heard him, boys," he snarls, ki freely infusing itself into the strand of hair, making it stand at end, pointed like a needle. "We're gonna need to use that ki shit on him. Get out the special rounds!"Flicking his hand out, the hair zooms through the air towards Beat, ki sharpening and hardening it into a deadly projectile. Whether it hit them or they dodged around it, Tempo's fist would clench, the energy in the hair rapidly expanding outwards and detonating. "YOU PICKED THE WRONG DAY TO MESS WITH THE LION GANG!" As they roared their threat at the man, the mooks all loading a different type of bullets into their guns before firing on the man, the explosive force of the ki inside of the rounds causing small, blue explosions to go off as they struck objects, and Beat. Why did he tell them EXACTLY how to hurt him out loud? Was he stupid? He braced for impact, hoping that he wasn't about to get torn to pieces, praying to whatever God floated about in the sky that he could see his family again. But then, a miraculous thing happened. The hail of ki infused bullets smashed into him, but funnily enough, it didn't hurt as much as he expected it too. It almost tickled, even. "What."
His monotone voice was a stark contrast to the bombastic personality he usually displayed. The sheer shock that he wasn't swiss cheese was enough to break him mentally, if only for a second. Then it dawned on him. "BAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHA! YOUR GUYS MUST SUCK AT CONTROLLING THEIR KI! EAT IT, NERDS!"Just like that, he was back to being the hot-blooded, annoying Beat he always was. The leader of the Lion Gang didn't seem too impressed however, adding in an attack of his own; a single strand of hair, soaring through the air right at him. Normally, he would just keep laughing, but he could sense the raw power contained in that tiny little thing. If he got hit by that, it wouldn't be pretty. So through a mixture of his natural acrobatic body and honed combat instincts, he managed to swiftly avoid the strand of hair and the ensuing explosion with a deft cartwheel through the air, landing right in front of Tempo. "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee! I'm gonna slice you and dice you fool! Consecutive Star Roaring Slash!"
It figured that even during a life or death situation, he was still coming up with the most ridiculous names for attacks that he was honestly making up on the spot. A barrage of sword strikes aimed for non-vital points over the giant's body in an attempt to whittle him down little by little. From what he was sensing, those goons of his wouldn't be putting up much of a fight after that laser light show a little while ago. "You know, I know we're in the middle of fighting right now, but you wouldn't happen to want to surrender, would you? No? Man, villains never make my job easy."
Whether the sword strikes made their mark or not, they weren't the main event here. Instead, they were merely a way for him to get the real attack in: "BLUE DRAGON ROAR!"A beam of immense cerulean energy erupted from his mouth, attempting to batter Tempo with immense concussive strength point blank. Despite acting like he was some type of court jester, he knew that prolonging this fight wasn't a good idea. He could sense the raw power that radiated off of his opponent; it even eclipsed his own, if barely. Getting into a drawn out fight was quite literally the worst thing he could do. Debris and dirt formed a smoke screen, temporarily obscuring Beat's vision. But, even if he didn't have the gift of sensing the energy of other's, he would never think for a second that was enough to take down the goliath himself. The hail of bullets striking against Beat were, obviously, rather ineffective, nearly pinging off of their body. It seems like buying ki bullets when you don't use ki isn't much better than regular bullets. Who would've guessed? Apparently not these guys. The man seemed to be able to do more than just take hits, too, dodging out of the way of the hair he flung at them, just getting out of the range of the explosion before attacking Tempo directly. Their blades slam against his body, though while the man buckles a bit from the force of each hit, though it would feel more like he was trying to cut steel than flesh. Beneath the cuts in his clothing from this barrage of attacks, one could see that his body was still unmarked. That wasn't the end of the attack, however, with Beat opening his mouth to fire a beam at the Goliath at a point-blank range. Reacting quickly, he moves his hand in the way of the ki wave, having it explode against his palm. As the debris from the blast fades, a small burn mark appearing on his hand as he retracts it back into his pocket, being the only sign of any damage he took from the attack. "Well, I guess you were right about stinging like a Bee. That hurt...a little bit. A real shame that bees aren't a threat to lions, though," he stated, glaring at the smaller man. Despite the very dull sense of pain he felt from their attacks, Tempo had the utmost confidence in his abilities. He was the Lion, and this showoff was nothing more than prey for him to hunt. "Now, let's get started." Pulling his hands out of his pockets, Tempo would raise his right arm, clenching his fist before swinging it downwards, the tree trunk that his limb is aimed at the head of the unruly interloper. Shooting his other hand out right afterwards, he'd try to grab Beat by the neck and would begin to raise them up from the ground. BATTLE TRACKER Action Summary:

This guy was a living tank! That was the worst type of people to have to fight, especially since he wasn't exactly packing the firepower to end it all right here and now. Tempo was definitely a few cuts above the rest of his pack. "You might not think bees are much of a threat to lions, but..you smell. Like, geez, at least have the decency to shower before you rob a bank, eh?"It didn't seem like Tempo took too kindly to his insults though, using those massive limbs of his to try and smash Beat into a pulp. But, he was gonna have to be quicker than that if he wanted to hit him! Beat cartwheeled out of the way, repositioning himself to the thug's side. "Nope! You're way too slow bro-"He was getting way too ahead of himself, leaving openings where there should be none! Tempo took advantage of the tomfoolery and was starting to wring Beat's scrawny little neck out like someone trying to take the water out of a towel. Of course, now he was busy trying to pry himself free of the grip with both hands, which also helped with lessening the damage he took to his throat. Note to self, never try and arm wrestle this guy. What the hell did his mom feed him, raw iron? Wish I could get gains like that..."Okay, I get it, you're not the biggest fan of comedy. What the hell do you do in your free time then? You know, besides getting your ass kicked by me!"As soon as those last words escaped his mouth, a series of blue lasers erupted from his eyes, aiming to drill their way through his hands. At least his attacks were starting to wear him down though, even if it was just little by little. Man, I wish this dude had some type of easily exploitable weakness I could target. Why aren't more of my enemies like some RPG boss? Gah. Keep your mind on the match Beat, stop thinking of stupid things..Assuming all was well and he was free from the grip of a god, he took a few backsteps to open the distance, keeping his swords at the ready. Ki flowed through them, making them as sharp as they possibly could. "I don't think you'll let me call a timeout so I can get my backup, right? Right."He spun around, violent winds like a hurricane picking up merely becuse of his amazing speed. Swords spinning like a hurricane ready to cut anything unfortunate enough to stand in his way, he charged straight for Tempo. "Guess if you're man enough to be able to take my hits without dying, I can cut a little loose! Hidden Octopus Style: Winds of DEAAAATH!"The tornado grew stronger the closer it reached its target, threatening to give him the haircut that Beat's initial attack failed to do. Hey, at least if I die here, I'll make sure he doesn't have hair for the rest of his life. That's kind of a "lose the battle, win the war" type of thing, right?WC: 524 TWC: 1585 BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

With Beat's throat in his grasp, Tempo slowly begins to tighten his grip, feeling their neck strain under the force of their grasp. It was all they could do to spit out another cocky comment...well, that and fire out eye lasers. The beams bore into his hand, causing the giant to grunt in pain and pull his hand away, giving Beat the chance to back off. Looking down at the wound, 2 small holes appear, blood leaking freely from the opening. "Tch, you're startin' to piss me off," Tempo snarls, raising both of his arms to guard himself as Beat charges back towards him, the man spinning wildly around with their blades. They clang against his arms over and over again as he defends himself from the assault, intentionally guarding his hair as they attack. Small lacerations finally begin to appear along their chest and arms, his defenses weakening against their attacks. That is, until a loose strike nicks his cheek, deep enough to draw blood. With a furious glare coming over his eyes, he would snap his hands around both of Beat's swords, stopping them in their place. "Yeah, you've really pissed me off now. I was gonna play nice with you, but this whole joke about stopping me is growing old!" As he speaks, ki begins flowing over his hands, a deep violet coloration as it seemingly dyes his hands the same coloration. Thrusting his hands outwards and releasing the swords, Tempo would stomp forwards, his right arm shooting out like a piston to their chest before following up with a haymaker with his other fist. So, it seemed like this grotesque brute -could- be injured. That was good, Beat was actually making far better progress than he initially suspected. Hell, at the rate he was going, he might have actually had a shot at getting to see the movie he was going too today. Sure, it might've been a little later than he preferred, but at least he could brag to his friends about seeing Lizard Sphere X opening night, right? But, Tempo had a little more gas in the tank than he gave him credit for. The barrage of blades were stopped in its tracks as the giant pushed Beat away, smashing his fist into his chest and temporarily knocking him off balance. The heavyweight colossus still wasn't done yet it seemed, as he aimed to launch a haymaker square for Beat's jaw that was only narrowly avoided with a series of acrobatic movements that helped to widen the gap between them. "S-Shit! What the hell is this feeling in my stomach, it's like I ate a thousand month old tacos..ugh.."Whatever that purple aura that manifested around his opponent's arms, it definitely wasn't friendly. Sure, a cleverly timed guard managed to reduce a massive portion of the otherwise severe injuries he'd probably take from the brutal attacks, but he could feel the toxicity from them slowly ebbing away at his spirit. Now it was even more important than ever that he try and end this battle as quickly as he could. "Well, whatever you did to me, looks like you're startin' to force my hand! And you're really set on guarding that stupid looking hair of yours! I don't know why, you'd look better getting a haircut from a five-year-old!" He took his stance, swords at the ready as ki energy flowed freely through his blades. "Now, hopefully this doesn't end up messing the building up too much, but I guess you and your mooks already did that for me, huh? Build Up!"From Beat's own skill at manipulating his ki, he was able to manipulate the aura around his swords into fearsome, ten feet tall dragons that burned hotter than fire. "Flow: Night Moth!"The dragons launched forward at blinding speeds, chasing down Tempo like homing missiles. Most of the danger behind the attack came from the powerful explosions they could cause once they made contact with anything unfortunate enough to be in its path. Sure, the damage to the building would kind of suck, but on the bright side, Beat could always blame it on these guys and avoid having to pay the collateral damage bill, plus he couldn't sense anyone close by. That must have meant the civilians fled. No stragglers around means I can cut loose without fearing I'll hurt someone innocent..but man, I think I'm really cutting this battle close, aren't I? I know Sensei told me there's no shame in retreating, but how would it look if I just cut and ran and this asshole got away with all these hardworking people's money? I'd just be proving that girl right, and worst of all, no one would bother trusting me!He grit his teeth and narrowed his eyes. For the first time in this fight, he was starting to become a little serious. "I've got to win, no matter what it takes!" WC: 557 TWC: 2142 BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Landing only one strike on Beat, Tempo couldn't help but grin as they watched Beat back up from him, small flickers of his ki fading into their body. The technique was a favorite of the brute's, making it so even a grazing strike could hospitalize his opponent. Of course, this Beat guy seemed a bit too durable to be done in like that, but they probably weren't feeling all that hot, either. At the very least, they could keep fighting. Using their ki to conjure two large, dragon-like apparitions, Beat would send them flying towards Tempo. The energy condensed into them made it pretty clear that these were not to be trifled with. At least, not if you're not a monster like Tempo. "Heh, c'mon! Is this the best you've got!" As the first dragon approaches him, the purple aura surrounding his hands would redouble in size as he'd grab it by the snout, tossing it at the wall behind him. A brilliant explosion issues forth from the attack, dust scattering all around the bank, a hole being all that remains from where it struck. The second dragon would similarly be grabbed, but this time rather than redirecting it, he'd throw his arms upwards before quickly slamming them back down, sending a wave of movement running along the dragon's body like a whip, the tail end of it striking and exploding upon the ground where Beat was. Shielding his eyes from the blast, Tempo would have a wide grin come over his face. "Man, you really are somethin'. You've actually made me furious. You just keep pulling out all of these silly-ass tricks and talkin' a big game like you're worth something. You ain't nothing but trash, though, and it's my job to put you in the garbage."Reaching into his coat, Tempo procures a rather simple looking revolver, 6 rounds already loaded into it. Slowly, he extends his hand forwards, aiming the barrel towards the youth's legs. The malign energy surrounding his hands would envelop the firearm, imbuing it with his power. And then, he'd fire, two shots zooming out, aiming to injure Beat's legs. BATTLE TRACKER Action Summary:

He couldn't do it. As much as it hurt Beat to admit, this guy was on a completely different level than him. With the energy from his own attack redirected, he fell flat on his ass, clearly reaching the end of his limits. I'm starting to think maybe this guy was right..I mean, I can't even stop this asshole and I'm running around thinking I'm a hero? Damn it, damn it, damn it! Got to find a way to get out of here before I end up six feet under..man, if Sensei could see me now, I know he'd be so disappointed in me. All this time I've been taking this whole thing like it's some type of joke! The only miracle he could muster here is if he somehow managed to get out of here alive. Bullets imbued with ki energy soared across the sky, ripping through his legs like they were made of paper and leaking blood all over the floor, causing him to collapse to his knees in pain. He'd been in a few close calls before, but nothing like this. I don't want to die..not like this, man..I haven't even gotten married yet..His eyes scanned the area for a way to get out, bearing through the excruciating pain that his body would definitely be feeling for weeks, if not months. In those precious few seconds he had before he was sure to meet his demise, he devised a plan, no matter how unsure he was whether it would work or not. Their little skirmish managed to mess up the bank pretty badly; now, normally this would suck, but for someone that needed cover to run away, it was nothing short of a blessing. Within an instant, his ki energy was suppressed to the point where it was undetectable, vanishing away in a blur behind cover and flying off to the nearest exit. Man, look at me! I always thought the hero of these stories won no matter what, even if it's a hard fight, and I'm just out here running with my tail in between my legs! All that money from the bank is just gone too..No words could describe the guilt and shame Beat was going through right now. People were counting on him, way more than those useless police officers, and he just up and dropped the ball hard. He always believed in chasing your dreams, but what happened if you simply weren't good enough? Then get better! I'm not going to let him get away with this..I swear, if I get out of this death trap alive, he's gonna regret not finishing me off. South City is gonna get a better protector than its ever had before, just you watch..But, how would he even go about getting more powerful? That was something he'd find out once he got himself patched up and saw his family one last time..at least for awhile, anyways. Come on, where's this damn exit..okay, right here! With the barrel still smoking, Tempo would put his gun back into its holster. From how much blood was flowing freely from their legs, it looks like he hit an artery. Either they'd die, or they wouldn't be his problem anymore. The man really didn't care which. The fight was over, he won, and now he'd get off scot free. "Alright boys, we're done here. Pick up what you can and let's get out of here.""B-but boss? What about-" Before the thug could even finish their statement, they saw Beat vanish from the corner of their eye, random blood splatters indicating that they retreated. "Heh, don't worry about them. If they wanna try anything in that state, we'll just kill 'em. Not like that's gonna happen, anyways. They're probably just trying to save their skin."With a hearty guffaw, the Lion Gang begins making their way out of the bank, stumbling a bit over the debris from all of Beat's explosive attacks. While the place was still pretty structurally sound, it was still pretty ruined, large chunks missing from the walls, all of the desks being smashed apart, on top of all of the money now being stolen. "Heh, what a mess. Guess we're the good people here, cleaning up all of this cash littering the floor, ey?" As they step out of the door, the street abandoned save for their own vehicle, the gang makes their way down the steps, already pulling out a case of capsules. When they reach the street, they toss out a couple of capsules, exploding out into a couple more vehicles for them all to fit in. Taking the rest of the money they were handling and pushing it into the back of the first vehicle, they all begin loading up. Seating himself in the driver's seat of the van holding the cash, Tempo could hardly contain his grin as he gazes back, bags of zeni nearly bursting from the seams of the vehicle. What a great day for business. "Heh, and all I had to do was kick some dude's ass for all of this. Got a couple scars, but this is all worth it. Hell, I can probably finally afford that now...Heheh, and then, nobody'll be able to stop the Lion Gang. Absolutely nobody." With no other words, and with the possibility of the police arriving on the scene soon, the vehicles drove off. The heist was a complete success.
With Beat running away, the Lion Gang successfully gets away. Words: 410 Total: 2004 Tags: Beat
