Appos would glance behind as his newly formed tail. It was...Strange. But it didn’t disgust him as much as he thought it would. In fact it felt almost natural. Something which worried him a bit. Bana, absentmindedly tapping on a data pad, would walk right into it, causing both to flinch back. Bana would glance around quickly before going red in the face and scrambling to pick up her data pad.
“Keep your eyes up, kid” Appos would grumble as he wrapped the tail around his waist and donned a heavy trench coat. He had been outfitted in full Saiyan-battle armor to look the part. Bana wore a heavy cloak and goggles. Ashy deserts would flash through the view ports as the dropship they were situated in broke through Atmo. Appos crossed his arms, tapping his foot impatiently.
“Any updates Bana?” He’d ask, glancing out the viewports every so often.
“Ummm… Nothing as of yet. Documented Saiyan colony below which the Captain is known to recruit from… Raid should occur in three hours, but I went over the numbers again and I think the analysts forgot to apply non-binary calculations to the estimations…”
“Meaning?”
“Oh, uh sorry. The raiders will be here a bit earlier than expected” She’d glance at where his tail was previously to make sure she didn’t bump into it again. “I-if you don’t mind me asking, what is having one of those like?” There was a sort of young curiosity in her eyes, something she often got when asking about things which interested her greatly. Appos scratch behind his head.
“It’s...Strange. Like having a new arm. Not exactly something I think I’ll be wanting to keep after this is all done with” He’d glance down at the small Tuffle. “I’m surprised you’re so interested in it. I thought most Tuffles found tails to be a primitive and disgusting leftover from poor evolution?”
Bana would tap on the pad a bit more, hoisting herself up on a seat and looking out the view port. “That’s the custodians, we never had to fight Saiyans. At least not until the Continuum started recruiting them. I find their biology to be pretty coo- Erm, interesting”
Appos shrugged. He just assumed they all hated Saiyans, like how all MELON Troopers did. The cabin would suddenly turn red as the Dropship edged towards the landing zone. The mission was simple, wait until the Raiders reached the Colony and defend it. Appos had more than enough combat prowess to impress. Once the Captain’s forces saw him fight, they would attempt to recruit him to their ranks. Well, that was the idea after all. The Cabin would turn green after a minute or so, the dropship doors beginning to open slowly. Bana would step next to Appos and pull her goggles down.
“Try to keep far away from me once the combat breaks out. You’re not combat capable yet and I can’t focus on saving you. Understand?”
Bana would give a nervous nod, mostly grateful that she wouldn’t have to participate in any of the violence to come.
The town of Kallen was bustling with life, merchants from all over the galaxy shouted out their prices for random knick knacks. The dry air would pick up every so often, blowing down some of the weaker stands much to the owner’s anger. Kallen was founded on a large steppe which took up around an eighth of the planet, the town itself being only 150 miles or so across. While it didn’t seem like much, it was a major trading hub for the Kingdom which was under constant threat of invasion from various pirate factions. Appos swiftly moved through the crowds to the area of operation, pushing a random civilian to the side every so often. Bana was hanging onto his shoulder, as it was easier than waiting for her to catch up. One of the largest pirate factions was going to strike at this location in about 1 hour. It was going to be a devastating strike, according to inside agents. The perfect opportunity for Appos to impress the Kingdom soldiers which temporarily resided in the city, under the command of one Captain Shallot.
Appos stopped nearby an open bar, going to lean against an alley wall.
“You can get off my shoulder now” Appos would say to the tuffle.
“D-do I have to?” She’d ask, partly out of fear but also out of laziness. Bana gave Appos her best puppy eyes. He would look at her with a stone face.
“I can throw you again, you know”
Bana would mutter something before dropping off Appos’ shoulder.
“Keep an eye out for anything suspicious, the sooner we recognize the raiders, the quicker we can be done here…”
