It had been a month or so.
After a glorious time on Space Vegas, everyone had returned to their daily affairs. While Kuueru couldn't guess what that meant for Legume, she certainly had her agenda filled. Meetings and appearances on behalf of the Galactic Empire were common. She had began working on a game plan to improve Emperor Absolut's transition into power on the side as well.
Beyond the Empire, Hollow was bustling well. Trade and a healthy economy were blessing the demonic tainted planet. While they didn't have too many tourists, the magical supplies, precious ores, and reagents they exported were highly prized. They made decent money for selling such things that could lead to negative events. Kuueru thought of it like she was supplying weapons, not encouraging their use---but it lined her pockets regardless.
She stared down at her tablet, her office in Mitra was becoming a highlighted spot. She found herself here most of the time, though---today seemed different.
The demoness sat up in her seat, her stomach churning suddenly. She felt ill.
Hastily the Captain reached for the waste bin beneath her desk. She jerked it towards her face and quickly relieved herself, and her guts, into the trash. The woman sat up, her unamused face staring at a mirror that was mounted directly across from her desk. She looked like a wreck, it didn't help that her pants were getting tight either. Perhaps she should lay off the chili dogs and start making more conscious food choices?
Legume. Where in the galaxy was Legume?
Her delicate fingers quickly wiped her mouth and she was on the search. She searched the entirety of the Holonet, and the Empire's records for a single word on Legume. However, it was an announcement of a tournament that led her to his whereabouts. She chuckled, her fingers managing to type out a message that would hopefully make it to the Saiyan's hands.
'We should catch up, --Kuu.'
It was a simple message, but she hoped he would at least manage to message her back. Little did the man know how much had changed since their last encounter. The results of Dr. Kaijin Vex's appearances had left her looking, a little. . . different. WC: 376 | TAGS: Legume

One month after the Second Shroomy's Invitational.
God, Legume was really starting to miss the healthcare of the future. It was one of those things which you really only start to miss after you lost them. Spending hours suspended in a healing pod is one thing when you are used to healing stations which patch up all your wounds and put you back to a pristine shape in mere seconds after you spend a few credits.
But after getting smashed to the curb by Genesis in the Abbayor Open a few hours ago, he really needed all of the healing he could get. He wasn't going to wear these wounds off for sure. And, thankfully, as his healing pod opened, there was no Kuueru on the other side to gawk at his naked body while Legume put on a new set of clothes.
Thankfully?!
How long has it been since he has seen Kuueru? That pristine looking demoness from the Shroomy's Invitational? Who was so kind as to meet him after the tournament, and he promptly spent the night with?
...depending on how you interpret it, it might not be one of Legume's best moments. After all, nothing has broken the vows between him and Lavendra, right? It would be highly uncomfortable to explain to her on what happened between him and Kuueru if he ever did manage to escape to the future again. On the other hand, if he remembered Kuueru so vividly even after a whole month has passed since their last meeting, then there was clearly something between them.
As Legume stepped out into the streets of Abbayor and checked his phone for anything which might have happened while he was away frantically dodging Atom Smashes, he quickly realized that he must not have thought about the demoness out of no reason.
A message from her. Before his eyes. We should catch up. How did she even get his number, anyway? He didn't remember ever giving it to her...
Regardless, a bright smile instantly formed on Legume's face, and the Saiyan, leaning on a nearby wall, immediately started typing out a reply.
'Definitely. Are you available on Abbayor? You should be able to catch my ki signature there, - Legume'

The message was sent.
Kuueru locked her phone and tucked it in the small white satchel that hung over her slumped shoulder. Truth be told, she hadn’t a clue how the man would react to her invitation. While she liked to imagine he would jump on the offer---she wasn’t sure what she really had to entice him to join her. The woman quickly ran off to her private bathroom where she managed to brush her teeth and make some last minute adjustments to her appearance just in case he said ‘yes’.
Finally, her honey colored eyes looked back at her in the mirror. She smiled, her fingertips reaching up to prod the twisted ebony horns upon her head. For so long the woman had hid her demonic traits, the time had come for her to finally feel at ease. She wished to live amongst the mortals, though---she would never truly understand their lives. Being immortal, she would live longer than most of the people she interacted with here among mortals. Though, the thought of leaving Legume behind---seemed difficult.
She snapped to attention as a soft chime emitted from her phone. She quickly scanned over the screen, the text forcing the woman to smile. She quickly replied, her fingers awkwardly typing upon the screen. She still hadn’t adjusted to this technology completely.
‘Be there shortly!’
She replied before focusing in on the familiar aura. He was close; Abbayor was a hop and a skip away from Mitra at least. It certainly wouldn’t be the furthest she had jumped. Since that night, she could literally taste his signature. The warmth of his energy reached out. She wrapped herself in it, gripping onto his location before she finally disappeared from the quaint bathroom.
In an instant she was within the upper echelons of Abbayor. The pristine looking planet appeared to be doing better these days, though just months prior destruction graced the surface. The tall woman stood, her honey eyes seeking out the Saiyan, he was close—she could feel him.
She turned around and finally spotted him. Looking towards the Saiyan she saw him gazing into his phone. He was probably was just now getting her reply message. It was funny to see how quickly she moved in comparison to the Holonet. Slowly the demon crept upon her prey, his recognizable backside luring her in. Until finally she was so close he could probably feel her breath upon his neck. Surely he sensed the woman, but she enjoyed thinking she was just that sneaky.
“Legume, it’s good to see you,” she uttered, her soft yet stern voice flowing into his headspace. Hopefully she wouldn’t startle the man, considering the voice didn’t match the person who was talking. TAGS: Legume WC: 458 || 834

Kuueru's response to Legume's response was swift - the 'Kuueru is typing' beaker underneath their conversation showed up almost immediately after his message presumably reached her device. Though it was certainly a relief to witness... it also meant that this was something of utmost importance to the woman. It meant that she was keeping tabs on the phone and awaiting his response for a while.
And now, it was he who awaited. Thankfully, the wait did not take long - during their match in Shroomy's Invitational a month ago, Kuueru displayed her knowledge of the Instant Transmission technique, which worked for long distance travels much like it did for close-quarters combat, and thus he presumed that the woman was going to use it here. And, soon enough, Kuueru's familiar energy signature appeared behind him. After all that happened between the two of them, he wasn't going to miss it ever in his life again.
"It's good to see you-" the Saiyan spoke, turning around, only to stop short when he witnessed that the woman before his eyes was not the Kuueru he remembered. "...too?.."
Her raven-colored hair bore no signs of the light, peculiar pink he had grown to expect from her, and the clothing she wore was a lot more... regal. Something he would expect of a queen or a high ranking noble - perhaps that was a hint into what kind of background she came from, besides the fact that she worked for the First Galactic Empire. Looking Kuueru up and down, Legume blinked a few times, then cracked a smile and continued:
"Well isn't this quite the surprise? If it weren't for your energy signature, I couldn't have recognized you..." How did she go through such a massive change? Definitely questions for later. "But a welcome surprise. You look... beautiful today."

Of course it didn’t take her long to respond.
He was a rather fascinating mortal after all. One might say that the demoness found herself enamored and giddy in his presence. Still, she tried to contain the odd emotions and feelings he elicited. There he was simply standing with his back to her—all that she had been thinking of for a month now was right here.
She wondered if he felt bad about their happenings as well. She hadn’t a clue what type of life the Saiyan warrior led up until that point, beyond his spiel of being from another world. A place locked from the rest of the galaxy, though the way he described it was lovely. Perhaps one day she too would see Legume’s home planet and understand his pride.
The Queen approached the man, the subtle scent of flowers surrounding him as she did. It wasn’t long before he turned and gave Kuueru quite the bewildered look. Of course he did, she looked like a complete stranger. Her pale skin lit up with color at the revelation. She felt as if this was the first time she was meeting him, yet---all the things they knew about one another. After just one night; was she foolish to want to know more?
Luckily for her, Legume was quite witty. Though a bit thrown off at first, he quickly accepted the woman for who she claimed to be. His greeting fell on welcoming ears, and a refreshing grin made its way back to the worried woman’s lips.
“Yeah, I suppose a lot has happened since we last saw each other,” Kuueru nodded while explaining herself a bit more. Despite the stress she had been dealing with, the demoness carried quite an aura of beauty. Her blemish free skin was glowing. Her body was fuller, her appearance all together more mature. Hopefully the man wouldn’t take the change with too much of an issue---luckily, he complemented her and seemed ready to push forward beyond her ebony tresses of hair and new outfit. It wasn’t as big of a deal as she had thought.
A welcome surprise, huh? That’s how he regaled her. She couldn’t complain about that. In fact, she felt rather special to be wanted for company. There weren’t many people she had personal time with now that Lute left the throne. Kaijin was also knee deep in his own scientific affairs.
“A-Ahh, thank you for your kind words, I was hoping that you wouldn’t deny my visit today,” Kuueru cleared her throat before looking around the cityscape that surrounded them. The demoness clad in white then tapped a single finger upon her chin. What did she even have to do with Legume, was it pathetic that just his presence was enough?
“Why are you on Abbayor anyway? Seein’ your girlfriend?” Kuueru teased. She wasn’t sure if Legume had a lover, but it was always a nice conversation starter. Hopefully she wouldn’t strike a chord or bring up bad memories. Still, the hustle and bustle of the city continued to weave around them like a rock in a river. WC: 522 | 1356 TAGS: Legume

It went without question that Legume did not see this brave new world he got thrusted into as something... nice. Hell, his very first experience of this Universe was a smouldering, burning, destroyed city on Earth, littered with corpses and people struggling to get over the destruction, that should have been pretty obvious. Especially when the sorry state of the Universe was one of the things which motivated him every morning to push harder and continue on.
However, it didn't mean that Legume could not enjoy the little things which brightened up his face every once in a while. Seeing Kuueru stand befor him, her face warm up upon realizing what was going on, her voice accepting the compliment he sent towards her, was one of those little things. As much as the Saiyan tried to push himself away from falling to the abyss, raising his thin line of hope to return to the future one day as his escape rope, he simply couldn't deny that... there still was something which kept attracting him to the depths below.
Hearing Kuueru's question on what he was doing here, on Abbayor, and whether he was seeing his girlfriend, Legume cracked a snicker. The truth is, he actually spent most of his free time either here or on Space Vegas, the hours, if not days, spent training all by himself not counting. It, more than other places in the Galaxy, reminded him more of his home. The urban landscape was simply something he was a lot more familiar with.
"Of course I am. She's standing right in front of me." the Saiyan replied, quickly stopping, realizing what he had just said while barely thinking, and began to ramble on. "-I mean, Abbayor is just where I spend most of my time, really. It reminds me of home. More specifically... I just got out of the Abbayor Open. I might have been able to clench a victory there, but I simply ran out of time - ironic, for someone like myself..."
Placing his hands into his pockets, Legume glanced to the pavement beneath his feet for a few seconds, before turning towards Kuueru yet again, this time speaking:
"You look like you reached out to me for something important, Kuueru. What's up?"

Kuueru watched as the man's face lit up at the sight of her. It mattered not if it was the pink-haired goofy girl, or her more serious ebony counterpart. Legume still appeared elated to see her. It was an odd feeling for the Queen, at least, not one that she had gotten from another since coming to this realm. Her stomach was in knots just from standing next to the man. Everything from his demeanor, his voice, down to his scent. Like Legume, she too was a stranger to this galaxy. An outsider that was trying to sift and find her way in the world. However, she didn't want to return to her homeland. No, the demon realm wasn't pleasant at all. At least not for a being that seethed divinity as much as she did demonic. Kuueru was an outcast in her home land. Finding someone who enjoyed her company was a welcomed change. Still, she was caught off guard after the man turned her joke on its heel. When she asked if he was here to visit his girlfriend, he had to gall to suggest it was her. For a moment the demoness was about to look around for the strange girl he spoke of, yet, she was the strange girl. Kuueru cleared her throat as an awkward feeling surrounded the pair. Perhaps Legume had gotten too comfortable with his advances. No, that wasn't the case---he changed the subject just as quickly as he finished his flirtatious comment. He felt just as awkward as her still---but after a single night they had known one another better at least. "Whoa-hoho. Don't talk like that, it might come true." Kuueru teased, one of her eyes winking towards the Saiyan and his witty words. While she wouldn't mind having more friends, a partner was the least of her worries. He was there fighting a tournament. It was probably the only way the man could improve, train, and make a living all in one event. At least he kept himself busy, Kuueru admired that. Legume shoved his hands into his pockets. Damn, just as she was planning her next move. The demoness was going to reach for his hand, and lead him into conversation; however, it appeared the man was still a bit introverted. Kuueru nodded at his words, yes, she had something important to speak to him about. "I do, I do, but---I'd rather not discuss it in the street. We should go to your ship, if that's okay?" Kuueru pushed forward, her arm attempting to interlock with his before they began their trip to wherever Legume was staying. If the man wasn't too embarrassed, her body would move in close as they traveled. Kuueru had a lot to tell and to ask. To be fair, the woman felt off recently, at least since being with Legume. She wasn't sure how to propose the possibility but felt the need to inform him at least.

"Well, if I said it that way, perhaps it has already happened?" Legume responded to Kuueru's tease with a tease of his own. He was hardly the type of guy to get into flirting with any girl he's gotten acquainted with, that was a character trait more befitting of that bastard Drunk Legume, but that didn't mean that he could not enjoy poking every once in a while, either. Especially if it was Kuueru.
When the dark haired woman confirmed that she did reach out to him for something important, Legume raised his eyebrow in slight surprise. Truth be told, he had actually thrown that question as a throw away and did not expect the demoness to actually be here with an agenda at hand. You don't need something important to break out to just hang out and have fun, do you? Before he could ask on that, however, Kuueru assured to him that this was something they needed to discuss in private, and promptly wrapped her hand around his, the two of them starting to make their way across the streets of Abbayor.
Kuueru... what are you?..
And the worst thing was, the dockyard where his spaceship was stationed was over a dozen miles away from here. If they were to try to make their way there on foot, it was going to take... a while. A pretty long while. And time was money, even to the Saiyan.
"I've got a better idea." Legume spoke. A crazy idea, but it just might work. Legume's foot suddenly swept underneath Kuueru's and the Saiyan grabbed his falling peer in a bridal carry, stopping for a second while a faint blush formed on his face, then took off to the sky with the woman in tow. Flying over the dense patchwork of streets of Abbayor, reaching the spaceport, standing above all the buildings in its vicinity like a towering spire, was easy peasy and took only a minute. As soon as Legume landed in front of the entrance to the building, he lowered Kuueru back to the ground, at which point, their arms interlocked, the couple made their way inside.
It only took a few entrance checks and claustrophobic corridors for the two to finally reach the hangar where Legume's small ship stood. Not long after he dropped down in the distant past, Legume managed to scrape up a little bit of money to buy the cheapest ship available which was still able to fly - as such, its design looked three generations old and the ship itself was barely larger than a two story house. However, it served as a way to get around and also as a simple shack in which Legume was able to live and sleep, and thus it fulfilled its purpose.
After leading Kuueru inside, revealing a tidy and compact series of rooms, Legume commented:
"This oughta be private enough. So then, Kuueru..."

Kuueru couldn't handle his words. She felt as if her face was on fire from his confident air and fluid delivery. His soothing voice lulled her in, she was bathing in the glory of his attention. She hadn't felt this way before. So gratified and wanted---he made her feel welcome, even if they met on awkward terms. Perhaps she was enamored, but hopefully not to an unequal level of him. Truth be told, Legume was treating her worlds different today. Even insinuating that she was his girlfriend despite their lack of communication for a month made her stifle a laugh.
"Surely you didn't wait around for me this past month. You'd be mad," Kuueru spoke with a soft tone, her honey-colored hues avoiding his piercing gaze. Something about him made her feel as if he could see right through her.
After realizing that the trip back to his ship may take a bit, the Saiyan hoisted the demoness up bridal style. Her full frame nestled into his arms, and she was left to look up to the man with her flustered face. Still, it was too late. Legume was off, flying with the brilliant lacing from her gown flying behind them. Truth be told she looked like a bride being flown off. Perhaps they should have added cans to Legume's feet and put a banner on his back that said, 'Just Married'.
In all seriousness though, the woman hated that it had been so long since she had seen him. It wasn't that she didn't want to---it was just she was a busy professional. She hadn't the time to really socialize and didn't want to drag Legume into her busy lifestyle. Especially if he was so deadest on returning home. Alas, after a meeting with Doctor Kaijin Vex, there were questions that required answers. Promptly.
It wasn't but a minute or so before they reached the spaceport. It was a simple building which left to some odd corridors and crannies. It wasn't long before they stumbled upon the Saiyan's ship. Kuueru also had failed to notice her arms still interlocked with the muscular mans. She pulled herself closer and looked towards the entrance of the ship. Legume led her inside and quickly it was revealed what kind of lifestyle he led.
Neat and orderly rooms showed how thoughtful the man was in day to day life. Kuueru liked to live the same way, though—she hardly lived in any one place to make a mess. She was constantly on the move, probably much like the Saiyan who lived in his ship.
"Yeah, this is fine," Kuueru spoke before pulling away from her companion. She awkwardly paced the small ship before finding a wall to prop herself against. Guarded, she kept her arms folded tightly over her chest and her eyes anywhere but on the man. Surely something was off with the demoness, yet she stuttered to start speaking.
"Firstly, I'm sorry that it took so long to. . . reach out. I hope that, it didn't bother you—I'm sure it didn't! Just a one-night. . . type deal."
Kuueru gulped hard, her eyes nearly welling up with tears as she tried to shuffle through the information given to her by Kaijin. Still, she was having trouble coming up with the words. What if it made no difference. Would Legume shun her, cut off contact, deny this. . . thing brewing inside of her. A single gloved hand rested against her stomach.
"I don't regret it." She simply stated. Perhaps it would be easier to ease into conversation without bringing out the big news from the get go. TAGS: Legume | WC: 610 | 2462

Legume took his heavy weapon off his back and shoved it into the ship's small and compact storage room - he's going to have to wash it later, weapons such as these needed a lot of maintenance - before pushing himself towards the fridge and taking out an apple. If he was going to have Kuueru in his "home", even if hardly counted as one, then he'll need to prepare something for the two of them - but for now, an apple would suffice. After the battle with Gen, he was starving.
Thankfully, at least Kuueru did not seem to be put off by the rather dinky spaceship where the two of them were going to have their rendezvous. Legume tried improving it as much as his skills, time and pocket would allow - the Saiyan kept all of the rooms tidy and orderly and even hired a few engineers to upgrade the spaceship somewhat, attaching the engine outside of the ship and instead turning the engine room into a small compact bedroom. Any ship designer would immediately tell him that such a design choice is insane - installing an engine outside of the reach of the ship's armor is just begging for it to get blown off by an enemy turret - but Legume didn't mind. He wasn't planning to drag this little vessel into any space battles, after all. And if the situation required him, he could just summon an energy shield around the spaceship with his ki to keep himself safe.
While Legume was washing his apple in a nearby sink, Kuueru apologized to him from behind his back, though also assuring herself that the Saiyan didn't mind it too much. "It certainly doesn't, Kuueru. You shouldn't blame yourself for anything - I was the one who left the morning after without saying as much as a goodbye..."
Legume was about to take a bite off his apple as soon as he cleaned his hands and turned around - however, the Saiyan, upon seeing Kuueru. immediately put it down and stepped towards her. Something... Something was not right. Kuueru's expression was firmly somber, tears were forming by her eyes. And she clearly struggled to speak.
"Kuueru, what's wrong?"
Legume stopped in front of the dark-haired woman, gently placing his finger on her chin and lifting it upwards to have their eyes meet. His voice, generally fairly light and relaxed beforehand, had turned serious and worried in a single instant. "You... you look like something terrible just happened to you... Do you have something to tell me? A-are you sick or something? Or... did someone hurt you?"
Instinctively, upon saying the last sentence, Legume's hand formed to a fist. How much help he could be at protecting someone who beat him in a tournament from danger is... a question, but letting the woman suffer somehow was not even on his mind.

Kuueru, though nervous, smiled as the man put away Vanity, the sword he carried everywhere it seemed. While he busied himself and went towards the fridge for a bit of a snack, the inside of the woman's head was bustling with anxieties. She tried her best to manage her worries, but she wasn't sure how to even break this type of news. For someone who was nearly eight centuries old, you would think some sort of experience would have already come into play. But being the outcast in the Demon Realm didn't do much for her romantic interests. No one would want to be with someone as remotely divine as Kuueru.
The woman brushed off her worries as Legume told her not to blame herself. It was true though, they were both busy adults, and Legume was the one who had left. If anything, she was overstepping her bounds by reaching out to the man who wouldn't be seen waking up next to her. Perhaps even amongst mortals, and people she thought were something more, she was a second thought.
Her doubt melted away as the man rushed to her. He had left behind his apple and managed to close the gap between them. The demoness halted her breath. His warmth radiated off her chest as she stood before him. He was so close, concern was clear in his eyes. Despite the woman being a near stranger, he truly cared. . .
His calloused fingers brushed her chin as he fixed her gazed upon him. His concern was great in fact. So much so, that his worry filled his voice and his hands almost seemed to tremble. The man's apprehensions were going to the absolute worst possibilities. Perhaps this news was the worst possibility for him. Kuueru hadn't a clue what kind of life he had, or if he'd even. . . believe her. Who knew how this could affect him.
Her hand reached for his fist. The fist he curled in frustration of not being able to quell her pain. She pulled his hand close, her two wrapping around it as she pulled it to her chest. She paused for a moment, her eyes falling shut as she managed to pull out the words she had been meaning to say. The tears that were building finally rolled down her cheeks as she expressed it all.
"A few days ago, I went to visit Kaijin. He promised me, great strength. An experimental drug was what he injected me with. Due to this, he had been monitoring my vitals extremely closely. That was when he noticed that, I was not the only heartbeat in this body Legume. . ."
She looked to him shamefully, her cheeks clearly flustered. She then shifted her eyes towards the ground almost immediately after. She couldn't bare the pain of looking him in the eyes, knowing that something they had done would shift their lives so tremendously.
"You're, the only person I've. . . been with Legume. I-I don't know what to do." Kuueru was flustered, her words managing to form some sort of a sentence. TAGS: Legume | WC: 2982 | 520

Legume's worries seemingly gave Kuueru just a smidge more confidence, and though the tears built up in her eyes finally broke forth in two streams, the raven haired woman wrapped her hands around his fist and finally began to explain. With each passing word, Legume's thoughts passed through at the speed of a freight train, searching for what had happened to her and how he could make it better for her. At the very least, "Kaijin" was a name he had already gotten acquainted with. That was the doctor who had accompanied Kuueru in their match in Shroomy's Invitational, right? He had been introduced as a master of biotechnology and the virus which he employed against Legume in their match lended to that, so hearing that she reached out to Kaijin with the promise of an experimental drug which would grant her impeccable strength was not out of the left field for him. Even if using anything labelled "experimental" was never a good idea. He was here because of an "experimental" device too, after all.
So, was Kuueru here to speak to him about the results of that drug? No. No. Not at all...
While Kaijin monitored her vitals, he registered the presence of a second heartbeat in Kuueru's body. The mere mention of which left her barely able to speak. As Legume glared into her with widened eyes and a gaping mouth, her eyes shifted to the floor, avoiding his gaze.
Everything fit in like a perfectly solved puzzle. Kuueru suddenly reaching out to him and offering to meet after the two of them lacking contact for a month. Her suddenly acting more attached to him and requesting to talk in private. Her mentioning their one night stand right before this exchange. And now... this.
She's pregnant. She's gotten pregnant.
And the woman immediately defeated any immediate denial which the Saiyan might have raised. According to her, there could have been no other culprit. That was his child which was brewing in her belly as they speak.
"That..."
To say that Legume was shocked at the revelation was an understatement. Weakly, the Saiyan slid his hand out of Kuueru's grip and made a step backwards, making sure to not stumble on any furniture on his way, or fall to the ground from the shock. No, Legume was not just shocked, he was frightened. Because not only did he make the worst mistake he could possibly make, not only did he break his vows to Lavendra, even if they were meaningless at this point... no, he also just changed the history of this timeline beyond repair.
What if his days are already counted and whoever is responsible for correcting the flow of time has already marked him for elimination?
"That..." Legume muttered, struggling to even build up a single sentence. "That... That cannot be..."

So, the news was finally brought up.
Legume was utterly stunned. The man's raw disbelief was clearly present in his expression. It only made the woman feel more uncomfortable about the situation. No, she didn't intend this to come from a night of fun. To be frank, she was so intoxicated she hardly remembered it. Sadly. She could only imagine how it would have been to lay with the young Saiyan. He looked hearty and if he'd be a decent mate if she had picked him out of the masses. How did she even score this guy again?
It was too late to court him now, she was already manifesting a child from the fruits of their sinful encounter. Hopefully he would even want to apart of her life after this. It looked as if he was about to run. She was correct in her assumption, as the man soon stepped backwards.
It didn't take long for the man's hesitation to overflow. He escaped from it by walking away, his emotion filled face still setting on her own despite her shameful gaze at the ground.
"That… That cannot be…"
The immediate disbelief. Was it because he truly didn't think it possible, or he doubted it would ever come to this. They were both adults who rolled dice they knew the consequences of. However, based on Legume's reaction, it was if his entire world just fell apart. The look of shock and fear in his eyes was horrifying. It was if the man was staring down death itself. The Queen draped in alabaster silks stepped forward, her hand reaching for him before hesitating and falling to her side once more.
She had hoped for a different reaction. She had hoped for something impossible. Some fairytale of him being excited, or happy. Her fists clenched as she took a step away from Legume. Her back turned to the Saiyan as she braced herself upon one of the terminals littering the spacecraft.
What was she even to say to him. Should she---get rid of it? Kuueru could already recall the intense interrogation Kaijin have given after the discovery of her little one. They had narrowed everything down, grasped a timeline, and established the very beginnings of prenatal care for the Demon. If their requirements were even comparable to that of the mortals. At this point it was all an experimental experience for both Kuueru, and her primary care physician Dr. Vex.
"I-I'm so sorry Legume. I didn't plan for this to happen. It's going to jeopardize my career I'm sure." Kuueru stated coldly once she pushed past her tears. There was no reason to cry, for this child was already stamped in time. Kuueru would probably ride this out until the end.
"I don't want to hinder you either. If you. . . if you don't want to be in their life, or mine, I'd rather you break that news now. I'm fully prepared to raise it alone. Raise it, eh. I'm going to be responsible. . ." Everything was too much. The woman had already festered on the possibilities, whereas Legume had to process this all from this very moment on. Perhaps her words were getting ahead of herself, but---she felt nice around Legume. Perhaps he wasn't a horrible person, and even if he did choose to cut ties, she wouldn't hold it against him. With each passing sentence, Legume slowly stepped back, until finally, his hand reached the door leading to the exit from his spaceship. In this moment of life changing crisis, it served as an instant reminder that the Saiyan always had one possible option on how to save himself from the mess.
To run away?..
Hell, even Kuueru herself mentioned it. She seemed so heartbroken with what had just happened between the two that she pretty much offered the Saiyan to just break the news to her now and let her raise their child all by herself. And that was certainly an attractive prospect. But... is he really going to be like that? Someone who runs away from problems which he started himself? As much as Kuueru asserted that she could raise their child all by herself... Legume wasn't going to believe it. Just moments earlier, she stated that she didn't know what to do, she appeared afraid... She needed help.
How much help, if any, he could provide is a question which he had yet to answer, but for now, he opted to at least listen to what Kuueru was saying. And explain himself. Legume's hand reached towards the door behind him, but instead of opening it and letting him out, it pushed down on the lock. Hopefully, the raven haired woman would understand that this was a way he would try to keep himself inside.
"Kuueru..." Legume spoke up, the initial shock which had taken away his gift of speech slowly wearing off as time passed. "Look... This-this isn't the real problem. If... If I was in any other situation, I might be in joy, but..."
Damn it, how is he going to have to explain this? When he crafted himself a fake story to avoid telling Kuueru and everyone else about his real origins, he didn't expect this to be the way how that decision ends up biting him in the ass. And now, when the woman is in a state of flux, he's going to have to explain to her that he lied to her all along.
Goodness gracious, this couldn't go any worse...
"Kuueru, it might be hard for you to accept this, but... look, I had been lying to you all along. I'm not from some distant planet somewhere in this Galaxy. I'm not some freedom fighter trapped outside a familiar nebula... I'm from the future. I'm from the distant future, I'm trapped in this time, and I can't get out."
Legume's eyes shifted to the floor, much like Kuueru's. "I was... thinking that I could find a way to get out of here one day, or at least make this time a better place... But, now that this has happened... I've changed the timeline in a way I can never set back to what it once was, you know?.." The Saiyan finally let out a long sigh. "And if there's some divine authority out there whose goal is to set time right... then they could never tolerate this."

The woman felt at odds with herself and her emotions. She had never felt so vulnerable. Not even beneath the boot of a powerful foe, had she felt such a tremendous fear. It only amplified as her Saiyan companion continued to inch towards the door. She wouldn’t doubt if he turned and ran from the situation; if he did, she had already stated that she was prepared to raise this . . . thing alone---yet she secretly hoped that wasn’t the case. She needed support more now than ever---perhaps he did as well.
His hand reached for the handle.
He was really going to leave?
Kuueru felt her heart sink at the actions the man started to take. Would the demoness have to go through this trial alone? Sure, she would have Kaijin as he was one of her closest friends. However, lacking a father----it couldn’t be a good way to grow up. Then again, the woman grew without the help of either parent. Perhaps the child wouldn’t be so bad off with only one. That didn’t stop the feeling of something yearning inside her for more. Perhaps she was more mortal than she had previously thought.
As the door locked, Legume finally began to get to talking. At least he hadn’t run. Kuueru felt her shoulder slump at the anxiety of everything.
He explained that, normally he would be elated by such news. Which was . . . surprising.
The Queen had figured a man, a warrior, who was away from his homeland, would be disgusted by the news all around. However, Legume expressed a remorse that was filled with true disappointment at the news. Kuueru couldn’t understand what possibly went on within his brain, but fortunately for her he was quick to speak up and elaborate. Though, she wasn’t quite in for this revelation.
“Wait, what?” Kuueru uttered after the man’s entire speech.
So, he was a time traveling man from the future, not some Saiyan warrior trapped outside of his enigma of planet at the core of the galaxy. Kuueru was a demon though. Magical abilities relating to time manipulation weren’t unheard of, so why wouldn’t some sort of future technology be in the question? She held not a single lick of doubt in her, but only reeled in the regret that this could possibly be bad, or worse, for Legume.
“You’re in danger now, I see.” Kuueru stumbled over her words as she tried to sort out a solution. However, she wasn’t keen on the hierarchy of a time patrolling group, nor their unspoken rules. How were a people supposed to obey if they have no idea? Do they get a slap on the wrist? That was apparently not the case judging by Legume’s reaction. He looked as if he was staring death in the face.
“I had no idea. . . this only amplifies the issue. P-Perhaps it’s best to discard the evidence?” Kuueru spoke, her face morbid at the thought of terminating the child that fought to survive within her womb. Despite the odds and a trial of a dangerous experimental drug, it carried on---growing and developing more and more. TAGS: Legume | WC: 530 || 4077

Kuueru was clearly directionless and unsure on how she was going to handle this... crisis, but Legume was just as lost as her. Explaining her case to the woman told him just how deep in shit he was. If he still hopes to one day return to his time, as distant of a dream as it was... how is he going to explain this to Lavendra, his family, and everyone else? If he forgoes any chance of ever returning to the future and focuses on building himself a life in this brave new world... then how is he going to deal with being a parent from now on?
At least, at least, thankfully, Kuueru believed him. Legume could understand that in this whole sequence of events, a sudden revelation such as this would come across as out of the left field at best. However, not only did she accept his story quickly, but also recognized all the troubles and dangers that came with it. Either this wasn't as out of the ordinary to her as he thought, or she really was reliant upon him, if her dialogue and act didn't already give them away.
Like now. Faced with such a dilemma, Kuueru turned her eyes towards Legume, asking whether, in this situation, "discarding the evidence" would be a good option. Abortion, she is talking about abortion. The Saiyan's eyes shifted to the patch of ground right in front of him and his arms folded.
So, what should he do now?
As emotional and shaken as he was and had been ever since Kuueru dropped the news, Legume figured that this was a better moment than ever to thing this through rationally. Or, at least, with as much rationale as his mind could afford at this moment - which wasn't a lot, but...
"That's a decision only you can make." the Saiyan muttered as he unfolded his arms. It's only fair, isn't it? Their child is in her belly, not his. And even if he really was adamant on one choice of the two, then it's not like he could force Kuueru into following him or anything. That's not how any of this works. "I-I know that I... have been no paragon of rational decisions in this whole ordeal, but, at the very least, I can offer you two things. First is that... no matter what choice you make, Kuueru, I promise to accept it, and help you however I can. I'm a complete outsider in this Universe and what I can offer is limited, but... well, it's only fair. And the second is that..."
This time, it was Legume who, after walking up to Kuueru, gently wrapped his hands around hers. "Everything's going to be fine. I know that I scared you with time flow patrollers or almost running away, but... don't worry about any of that, it's not good for your health. I'm here, I'm not going to vanish or die or anything... As long as you know what you're doing, we'll find a way out."

Surely both of them were dealing with each other’s news differently. On one hand there was a time traveling Saiyan who recently found out about an off-spring that could potentially end up having horrible consequences. That is, if there was truly a group out there to end the life of time manipulators. Kuueru couldn’t be sure of the implications of Legume skipping through time, let alone altering a timeline that could shift the future tremendously. The demoness had been around quite a while in comparison to a mortal. She was also an advanced magic user. There wasn’t too much that would actually catch her off guard. That is, until the creation of this tiny being. Her gaze drifted down to a stomach that hardly looked different than a month ago. It was still early. There was still time. She could undo all of this with the option of aborting the fetus. Although, she wasn’t quite sure that was what she wanted. Legume was quick to push forward and answer her questions. Of course he left that decision up to her alone. While she liked that he trusted her to do so---he was so willing to let it happen? The queen’s emotions were all over the place. The tears from earlier still had yet to stop, and currently the torrent of moisture saturating her face surely made her look stupid. Truth be told, the demoness couldn’t tell you the last time she was brought to tears. Perhaps it was another side effect of this pregnancy? That was another thing she would need to educate herself on if she was to keep her child. “I-I just,” Kuueru hadn’t a moment to speak however. Warmth wrapped over her body causing her to pause her thoughts. She looked at the Saiyan warily as he spoke. He professed to help her no matter what she decided. He acknowledged that he knew just how terrified she was. Then, his arms melted around her frame. She remained still for a moment just to linger in his presence. His soft scent, his black locks brushing against her cheek, his strong embrace keeping her close; all of it made her heart skip a beat. She felt safe. She trusted every word he said, and she hadn’t a single reason to doubt him. The demoness’s hands snuck up his chest, her tender fingers running along it as she returned his affection. Ultimately, her arms made their way around his neck. She pulled Legume in, her body pressing to his as she was lost in a moment of emotion. Her face buried into his neck, hot tears pressing to his skin. A soft whimper broke out, and then it was all waterfalls. Her chest heaved in his arms. She began to sob, her voice breaking and rebuilding as she tried to respond to his kindness. He said that everything was going to be fine, she believed that too. While he mentioned he was apologetic for scaring her, he was here now at least to make up for it. With his arms around her, everything would be fine. “Thank you Legume. Thank you. I-I just wanted you to know. I figured you should know. I’m not even sure---about what I need, what I need to learn, what kind of life I need to provide for a young one. To know that, I won’t be alone---makes it better. Truly, I mean that. Thank you so much.”The demoness pulled her head from his neck, her honey eyes locking on the man. No longer were they tear filled when she gazed into his onyx eyes. She felt at ease---at least for now. “I-I can keep you updated. I mean, you’re more than welcome to be in, its life. . . I don’t exactly know what, or how you feel right now, but---I feel less scared. That feels weird to say---as I’ve. . . hardly ever felt fear. Not even in the face of the mightiest Demon Lord. Now, a mere cluster of cells is terrifying. S-So terrifying that I stopped drinking!”

Isn't it odd how quickly Legume chose to accept becoming a parent and accept to support Kuueru no matter what her decision was? It certianly struck his mind as odd. After all, mere minutes ago, he cursed at himself for letting this happen when he was a complete stranger in this time and most likely ended up changing the timeline of the Universe with one fatal mistake. Wouldn't it be more logical to do absolutely anything else right now? Let Kuueru raise their child alone while he retreats in shame, or offer her to abort their child at such an early stage...
Perhaps it came up to a simple fact, Legume thought. As much as he would cover it or hide it with a veil of stoic attitude in combat or an impressive and life threatening backstory, he was still, in the end, just a soft, friendly guy with an optimistic attitude towards society who could not bring himself to leave people he likes in trouble. If he wasn't, would he really have embarked on his self-chosen quest to make the distant past he popped down to a better place to live? And it would be hard to deny that Kuueru was in a lot, lot of problems right now. Most of which were directly fault of his foolish actions. And not only did she need his support, but she relied upon him for support in such a moment.
How could he have done anything else? He's a hero, this is what a hero would do. Legume responded to Kuueru's sudden embrace in kind, and while the woman let herself go, sobbing and tears flowing across her cheeks, the Saiyan remained stern, holding the demoness tightly. Sure, out of the two of them, Kuueru was definitely the physically stronger one, but she was also the one taking this revelation a lot more emotionally - and the least which Legume could do was serve as an anchor for her, to show that his assertion of being with her was not just for show.
Kuueru really, really, really needed the support, and he had to be there to give it to her.
The woman continued by pouring more and more words in his general direction, thanking him for the support, expressing how lost she was on how she will have to be a mother, and even stating that this revelation made her more frightened than the most intimidating Demon Lord, so much so that she even... stopped drinking. Legume's eyes cracked widely open in an instant.
Okay, okay, first of all, don't lash out at her. Sure, she might not know what Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is and she definitely needed to know, but... you would only make matters worse if you started intimidating her like that.
"Please... keep that up. Don't drink while you're pregnant, and don't smoke either..." Legume muttered, with a slightly worried expression on his face. "It's not good for the baby."
Mark that down as a sentence he didn't to be saying a couple months down the line after getting transported to the distant past... Legume raised his hand to wipe away a tear trailing across Kuueru's cheek with his thumb and continued:
"Feel free to keep me updated, Kuueru. Just inform me if something's wrong and I'll fight through hell and back to get back to you."

The demoness had poured her heart out. Not only did she profess the fact that she truly was terrified, but she spoke on just how clueless she was about the entire process. She would be lying if she said that she knew the first thing it other than the wait, and the obvious growth in stomach size. While she rests in Legume's welcoming embrace, she found it hard not to want to express her feelings for him too in the moment. Alas, it was just a one-night deal, something that they both quickly forgot about. . . right? The woman that soon pulled herself from legume and stared him face to face. They spoke more, or she did. It was kind of ironic. The look of shock on Legume's face when she had mentioned her cessation of alcohol. It was one of the first thing Kaijin had mentioned; that was due to the first dinner they had together thereafter, where she learned right away that it was improper and unsafe for the child. She was never much of a smoker, so Legume' other warning wasn't really warranted. "Ahh, seems that you may know a bit more than me about this whole event huh? Legume, do you have children already? Any baby's mothers going to come hunt me down for blood?" Kuueru teased, her eyes falling shut as the Saiyan brushed away the last of her bothersome tears. Surely the woman looked silly, red faced and tear covered. Alas, Legume was still there, his presence lulling the woman to a certain serenity. At least he wanted to be in contact. For that at least she could remain thankful. Kuueru pulled away, her tired eyes looking towards him before she brushed away the remainder of her tears. The time for that wasn't now, as she had much to be happy about. She had a father to a child who wasn't afraid to put his best foot forward and roll with the punches. Hopefully all would go well and having a child of half Saiyan blood would be. . . relatively normal. "It's so nice to have some support in all this. I'm sorry I had to drop it on you so brashly. I—If you want to be really involved, that's fine too. I don't want this to be an awkward thing. Especially. . . if you're seeing someone. While it would be nice to have you, there with me---through it all. I would understand." Kuueru spoke somberly her smile managing to return as she prepared to depart. At least she left with a clear conscious. "I should find out what it will be in about three weeks. I. . . know the custom of the parents naming their offspring. So, I hope you'll be in touch." Kuueru winked, her body moving back into his. She looked to him with a soft grin. Her fingers reached up to run over his chin and jaw. She leaned in close, her lips pressing to the man's cheek. "I still, think fondly of that night." TAGS: Legume | WC: 511 | 4671

"Uhm..." Legume muttered, glancing to the side upon Kuueru's question on whether he already had children and acquired experience that way - and, hell, whether she should look out for vengeful baby-mothers on the way, either. Sure, the demoness clearly stated it as a joke and the teasing smile on her face gave that away immediately, but it did open wounds which he realized he would never be able to close. No matter how long he stays in this timeline and no matter how impossible returning to the future might seem, he's simply never going to forget about it and move on, is he? Not when he constantly gets reminded of it, almost every single day...
"No, not at all, Kuueru... Simply put, we have lessons on this kind of stuff in future schools. I didn't keep attention during that course all that much, to be fair, me and my classmates usually just saw it as a time to nap and browse the Ultranet, but... I guess a few things stuck."
He had promised Lavendra to try to become more responsible once the two of them actually marry, and failing that promise has bitten him back in the way he didn't expect. Kuueru followed up her attempt at a joke by stating that she's fine with him being involved, and would even enjoy it, even if he is already seeing someone else. After stating that they will also need to decide on a name for their child, the woman finished her statement up with a peck on his cheek - the feeling of which instantly put a brighter smile on Legume's face.
"I'll be sure to be there with a shortlist of Saiyan names at hand." he replied to Kuueru's request with a wink of his own. Hey, they're still going to be around twenty percent Saiyan, that's enough to be entitled to one! Even if he wasn't sure exactly how big Kuueru was on Saiyan naming. Hearing the woman state that she remembers their night together fondly, however, Legume closed his eyes, the smile lingering on his face, before replying:
"So do I, Kuueru. So do I."
Reaching out to the door of the spaceship, the Saiyan pulled the lock to open it - there was no threat of him suddenly fleeing from the heartwarming talk, after all. "So, I take it that's it for now? Unless there's something else you want to tell me?"
