LUTE The Fallen King RACE: Namekian AGE: 61 years GENDER: Asexual HEIGHT: 7" WEIGHT: 285lbs HOME-WORLD: New Namek FACTION: Galactic Empire and the Leviathans | MOTIVATIONS: Lute, for most of his life, was driven by his hatred towards the gods. He cared about one thing only and that was gaining strength. This clouded his judgement, this drove him down a selfish path. Now, he wishes to break from that cycle. He wishes to do what he can to repair the damage he wrought. He still has a disdain for the gods, but he's chosen a different path. He wishes to uplift mortals, train them, and see them surpass the gods in an act of defiance. QUIRKS: Lute is cold on the outside, callused one may say. But, deep down inside of him is a man who was afraid of his own weakness. His greatest quirk now that is, if the moment is right and he's surrounded by friends, you may see him crack a smile. BONDS: HORN - This Namekian exists inside of Lute. He kept the "good" part of Lute's conscious alive and eventually emerged to bring Lute back from the brink. MARTE - A human teen that serves as the face of Lute's business ventures. He also is a steward of Lute's fortune. Lute has a respect for him and his ambitions. But, they share a dark past together. Lute hopes to repair the damage he did to Marte and set the boy on the right path, the same one he now walks. CALL TO ACTION: Tora No Seishin nearly defeated Lute when he was the Demon King, at the height of his dark power. The warrior proved that strength alone wasn't the only thing that mattered. His tenacity made Lute see that he needed to find a different path. Lute is trying to figure out his place in the world now that he cast out all his dark power. He figures that he has a lot to teach, and seeks to be a mentor to a new generation of warriors that will surpass even the gods.
BACKSTORY THE RISE OF THE DEMON KING Lute was once a scholar in the Dragon Clan. As a youngling, he studied happily with his fellow students. He learned the art of Namekian Dragon Magic. During those days, he was a proficient healer, and some thought he may become the next Grand Elder. But, all that potential soon would turn dark. Paranoia fell over him, thinking that his fellow students would surpass him. It drove him mad, and he started to feel animosity to anyone who rivaled him. He sought ways of growing more powerful, beyond that of his teacher's lessons. He grew impatient and rude. He scoffed at how slow they wanted him to progress, only hungry for more power. During a training exercise with a Warrior Clan student named Horn, he used a forbidden technique to badly injure him. Horn was left on his death bed, despite the Namekian's natural healing abilities and the healing magic of the Elders. Feeling a pang of guilt, Lute offered Horn to fuse with him, a technique that was strictly forbidden. Horn, not wanting to die, agreed to do it. It made him stronger, but earned Lute exile from the Dragon Clan as it was a forbidden act. Lute left New Namek and started to look into old legends, hoping to continue his progression. On Earth he learned of the Demon Clan and the actions of King Piccolo. He took on the Demon Clan mantle, as it represented strength and supremacy. He worked as an assassin to earn money to find more secrets, taking lives without a thought. He was able to fund several expeditions into abandoned libraries and ancient temples on planets across the galaxy. There he learned secrets of the cosmology, starting to see it a playground for the gods. He disagreed with their interventions and the way they acted against nature to preserve life. He learned to believe in his strength alone, thinking it the true path he should walk. After seeking the Book of Bibidi for its ancient and terrible power, he stumbled into the Demon Realm. There he was defeated by a Demon Lord, trapped to a pillar. He rotted away in the Demon Realm for two years, slowly withering away. Although, during the entire time he became ware of the Dark Energy there and learned to absorb it into his body. He was eventually freed by Kuueru and learned about the Hidden City of Hollow. Lute sought the Hidden City, getting help from the wizard Hachi along the way. He met Emperor Polaris and after a dangerous duel, realized the power and importance of the Empire of the Galaxy. Lute pledged fealty to him. Eventually, Kuueru, Lute, and Hachi attacked the city and captured it, casting out Hollow's former leaders. Lute discovered the trove of Dark Energy trapped within the skull and set out to absorb it into himself. In that moment, he named himself Demon King. As the Demon King he began to put into motion a plan to take down the gods. He would gather a vast army from the mortals and demons, and send them against the gods in a war unlike any ever fought. Things were moving along swimmingly, until the tragedy of the Galactic Peace Accords. With Polaris's death, Lute realized that his plan was starting to unravel. Still, he sought the Emperor's son Absolut and vowed to get the boy on the throne, no matter the cost. Instability among the mortals would weaken his ability to push forward. THE FALL AND NEW DAWN Lute did what he could to keep the Empire from falling part, going as far as to try to win over Imperial governors and bureaucrats. As part of these dealings, he traveled to Tiger Island on Earth, to bring back one of the famous giant tigers as a gift for one such delegate. There he met Tora No Seishin, the guardian of the island and protector of the sacred beasts. The two quickly engaged in a colossal battle that rocked the entire planet. Lute fought with all of his dark power, throwing everything he could at the much weaker Tora. Except, Tora warded his blows and delivered back a vicious punishment that astounded the Demon King. Lute was forced to tap into his Pure Demon form, and still it was just barely enough to beat Tora. Despite victory, the Demon King's body was broken and his morale wrecked. Lute questioned everything he believed. He spared Tora and sought to find answers within himself, for the first time. The truth he realized: strength wasn't everything. That was a tough pill to swallow, but one Horn helped him understand, connecting with him for the first time in years since their fusion. He showed LUte that will to protect one's bonds, ones friends, was much stronger. It bolstered even the weakest fighters to incredible heights. By Lute closing himself off, he never stood chance at achieving his truest potential. His whole life he had been afraid of weakness, and thus had cheated on his path to get stronger. He acquired power through nefarious means instead of earning it through hard work and perseverance. Also, Lute used people that cared about him and helped him along the way. They had been there for him, despite his lack of gratitude. The very thought of what he had done addled him with regret. Lute decided at that moment that he would turn things around, make what he could right before he took his last breath in this universe. He cast out all of his acquired dark power, cleansing his soul. This left him greatly weakened, in comparison to his former glory. He now is having to relearn everything he knew. He is now the Fallen King. His once cold heart has softened. All thanks to one brave and peerless warrior named Tora No Seishin.
