ICE COLD E a r t h . . .
It was a bustling hub, and home to one of Kuueru's favorite delicacies. However, today she wasn't here to indulge on her favorite street sausages; at least, not yet. Today, she had a mission on her hands. Today, she aimed to seek out the one whom she met months earlier and bested in battle. The demoness would be lying if she said that she wasn't interested in seeing how the self-proclaimed tiger had progressed. She too had exemplified her own strength to a new level as well in the time since their illustrious hot dog eating contest. More interestingly, Kuueru was interested in studying the way a mortal Earthling trained. While she did win their bout at the hot dog eating competitions; Tora certainly help up his side of the battle and kept the woman on her toes. From everything Kuueru heard in her lifetime, Earthlings were one of the weakest of all mortal races. Still, she had seen them prove their resilience and determination as well. Perhaps all mortals were more complex creatures than she initially had thought. Still, here she was, amongst the busy streets of East City. She wasn't sure where to seek out the man, but surely, she would be able to feel him out. She had gotten accustomed to his aura during her battle against him, so she began to feel out across the land. It took a good three minutes of awkward meditation as civilians all stared and parted around her lip a river of living beings. But then, there he was! Kuueru opened her eyes and turned to the direction in which she felt the man. Then, she was off. Hurling through the air she locked onto Tora like a target. He was a bit out of the ways in terms of being close to civilization. Then again, most dojos she had been to were like this. Perhaps he was a hermit? She remembered the man talking about his fighting style with a passionate flow. Surely this man had a plethora of students and a busy dojo to keep him busy. Kuueru was eager to see how the goofy and righteous man directed others whom were much weaker than himself. Perhaps she could even stick in for a lesson or two. It never hurt to learn something new, even if your teacher was a bit weaker than you in terms of raw strength. There it was, her eyes looked down at what almost looked like a shack. Still, there was no mistaking it, Tora was here. She descended, a spring was in her step as she touched down right outside of the building. It was rough looking, the pain worn and parts of the siding hanging on by a thread. Still, if this was his place of practice, Kuueru would try her best to keep snide comments to herself. With a sharp inhale the woman pushed forward, her lavender eyes scanning around as she walked towards the entrance. She didn't see the man right away, but still, his presence was everywhere in this place. "Hello?" She inquired into the empty building before taking a step inside of the dusty shake. The inside didn't look too much better off. If she wasn't mistaken she thought she noticed some vines and weeds creeping up through the floorboards. This place had seen better days, and Kuueru could almost envision them. The days of polished floors and the sounds of students roughing around. Now, it was just still. "Tora?" Kuueru murmured while half expecting the blue haired man to pop out from a hole in the wall or something.

Ironically, Tora had been napping and dreaming of better days. When he was young there had been more than just him training here. However, none held his aspirations. His dreams. Nor his talent. Still, Tora remembered them- until he was jarred from his restful state by an almost familiar voice. An incredible power had entered his dojo, unbeknownst to him. Rising from bed he quickly prepared himself, phasing around his room as he got dressed. He would at least look prepared, if nothing else.
Thus, he appeared before Kuueru, his wild and unkempt hair tossed around messily. His blue eyes pierced through her, despite the fact they were widened in surprise. This was the girl who had bested him in the eating competition! His eternal rival! The woman who was both a bottomless pit of hunger and incredible well of strength!
She was merciful at that. Tora had been made dreadfully aware of his shortcomings in his fight against Kuueru. He discovered he was not as skilled a fighter as he initially imagined. Beyond that, he saw a being that was levels ahead of him. And she spared him.
She was humble. That was a unique quality, especially now that he truly recognized her for who she was. A demon, of some sort. Although, in her current form Tora didn't see anything demonic about her. Still, there was that glint in her eyes... something mischievous. But the Tiger of Earth didn't see her as a threat. No, more of a friend.
"Kuueru! A pleasure to see you again!" He laughed out, glancing around the room. It was a mess. And she was a girl. This was not good. He turned slightly red as he gestured for the door.
"It's a wreck in here! Why don't we, uh, go outside? Plenty of fresh air in the jungle!" Tora exclaimed. He hurried for the door, realizing that a unique opportunity had unfolded before him. Here was a person with untold strength right in front of him! He could ask her questions, maybe get a feel for the universe.
The news had been tumultuous lately. A large vacuum had opened up in terms of power. Tora recognized that- and while he had no personal aspirations to conquer, he knew the hearts of men. They were greed filled creatures, desperate for power. Tora was no different. He simply coveted power in a more traditional sense. His strength had multiplied since last meeting Kuueru, but he hid it underneath the surface.
In truth he didn't know much about this girl beyond what his animal senses had deciphered. It led him to question his sensibility in lowering his guard in front of her. But she seemed relaxed, straightforward... strangely genuine. That was why he turned to her with a massive grin, speaking honestly as they entered the jungle around his home:
"Listen. I don't know you, exactly. But you could've been a monster, and killed me. As one would expect of a 'Demon'. But, I don't judge people by any standard besides kindness. And you seem like a kind sort. Merciful, in the least. I guess, what I am trying to say is--... thanks. Most of the powerful folks I've met are really out of touch. You seem strangely normal. It's a pleasure to have you visit me. What can I do for you?"

ICE COLD Kuueru stood there for a good while before she heard shuffling from the other room. By the frantic footsteps she could clearly note that it was her former opponent Tora. He was a goofy guy, but not one to be taken lightly at least. Her arms folded over her chest while an idle foot began to tap upon the ground. Though, despite her impatience to greet her friend, he quickly emerged from his room. The Tiger with quite the wild mane stared bewildered at Kuueru. He should have felt her energy from a mile away, still—he seemed in shock that she had sought him out. Kuueru nodded and shot the man a friendly smile and wave before walking towards him. Still, Tora had no intentions to linger within his distraught dojo. He quickly skirted her attention and rushed the demoness towards the door. "W—Wha? It's not that bad!" Kuueru argued with the man, but it was too late. She was now standing outside in the ripe Summer heat. All around them were dense jungles, wild animals, and pesky insects which kept trying to suck her demonic blood. She swatted at one which landed on her leg and began going to town on stealing her life juice. Still, she followed Tora out of the dojo and throughout whatever woods or forests he aimed to take her. Perhaps he just was that embarrassed of his mess? Still, his words began to flow once they were outside. Her tired eyes looked over towards the blue haired man who looked quite tired himself. He went on and explained his thankfulness toward her. How happy he was to be spared. Still, Kuueru didn't feel like stomping out life that had suck potential. Unless that potential was aiming to kill her or her comrades, then she wouldn't hesitate. "Hey, don't worry about it. I suppose I'm not the typical demon though, you're right. Still, I don't go around just killing off everyone I best in battle; then how would they get strong enough to turn around and throw it back at me right?" Kuueru uttered whilst looking out at the forest which buzzed with life and a freedom that she hadn't seen much in the city streets of Mitra and Hollow. It slightly reminded her home, minus the stench of sulfur and the hues of reds. "I don't know much about powerful folks, I've only really met a few stronger than me and that's my friend Lute, and my former Emperor, Polaris. With his absence I've felt very conflicted however. I want to grow stronger now, more than ever."
Kuueru paused and turned to look at Tora. He mentioned other powerful folks that he had met---she couldn't help but be curious of who he was talking about, so she simply asked. "So, what other powerful folk are you cheating on me with? Tell me, are they as beautiful?" She laughed after the sentence, implying she was very obviously joking with the man. Outside of competition and battle, Kuueru was quite the carefree and lighthearted person. Still, if there were others out there that rivaled her strength, she would need to work hard. She would need to be ready in case someone tried to take her life or worse, attack the Empire while they were already on one knee.

Tora felt comforted by her relaxed and inquisitive nature. Once again, another normal quality. Her apparent closeness to the now dead Emperor Polaris? That was surprising to him. She was a big player after all, whether she realized it or not. She teased him, asking what other powerful creatures he was seeing; he shuddered at recollection.
The corrupting presence of Amatricina was the first thing that came to mind. Her miasmic essence had changed the very life on the nearby island- he figured out of anywhere, there would be a good place to start. Afterall- the pair both shared demonic blood.
"... well, when you put it that way I don't quite like my answer, but... Have you heard of the Demoness, Amatricina the Avaricious? She claimed allegiance to the Emperor Carambolis, but with his demise I don't know where her plans lie, beyond the conquering of her home dimension. She told me she held little concern for the fate of this realm... from there, the only other powerful warrior I've encountered would be Kamui, another member of Carambolis' 'Empire'. Amatracina's strength is far more toxic than most I've encountered. Although, she seems to be mostly... prideful, and lost. I'd be wary around her."
With that he leaned against a nearby tree, appreciating the shade. The lively jungle life around him was something he hardly noticed, yet felt intertwined with.
"Polaris. Tell me of the late Emperor. What do you know about him? I've always wanted a first hand understanding." he questioned, still smiling. This was unique. Although to most it would seem useless to learn of a dead man, Tora always felt it necessary to learn. Especially from a man of such ambition. He imagined that Polaris would've liked to have ruled the entire universe. Tora imagined every conqueror felt that way.
"And more importantly, tell me of yourself! I am curious to your lineage. Don't tell me your some Demon Lord, ruling over some mystical realm?" he asked, laughing. He figured this adorable girl, although in disguise, was more like him. A free spirit.

ICE COLD Kuueru, despite her outward disguise was still a demon at heart. While her motived and actions for the time being were fair and rather tame, the same couldn't be said about her future motives. That was the way a demon could be, cunning and cool---then destructive and nonsensical. While Kuueru liked to think she had control over such a primal urge, she had been fighting a lot more than normal lately. She felt a rage and chaos building up at the core, and with it she felt the need to express herself, through her fists of all things. "Amatricina, the Avaricious? Quite the moniker I might say. No, I'm afraid I haven't encountered this Demoness yet. Though, speaking on the Kabochan Confederacy, I've only interacted with Carambolis, the emperor. We fought once, but beyond him, I don't know many of his accomplice or cabinet members."
It was odd to hear of another strong demon waltzing around the mortal realm, but---if Kuueru could escape, she supposed someone else of similar strength would have no issues either. Still, why was she here? What were her plans? Surely, she didn't break out for no reason if she didn't care about relations in the Mortal Realm. "Still, it's worrisome for her to venture here and say that she cares not about the fate of this realm, perhaps she has more in mind than she is leading on. Then again, maybe she's just bored? Being cooped up in that hellhole for centuries isn't exactly the most pleasant thing."Kuueru spoke of the Demon Realm with distasteful words, still—she credits the harsh upbringing for most of her success in life and battle. Having to deal with fighting for her life daily really kept the woman on her toes. The topic of the other demon woman shifted, and soon they spoke of another demon, one of frost. Kuueru chuckled and plopped down upon a nearby bolder coated in a thick layer of viridian moss. She waved a hand as she spoke of Polaris, or at least, what she thought she knew of the Emperor. "He was an admirable man, with questionable values. . ." Kuueru paused whilst admiring a pair of tropical birds sitting beside one another on a branch over Tora's head. "A beastly power, I once had a scouter clock him in at an astounding sixteen million power level when he tried. I beat him once, out of sheer luck he invited me to join the Empire. I was fresh to this realm, figured it'd be a good place to get my ground and some quick Zeni. It's been a year now, I still haven't left," Kuueru looked towards the ground with a somber stare. "Surely if in his ability Polaris would have aimed to rule the entire galaxy yes. Unfortunately, he got too cocky in battle. Unfortunately, but now we are working on getting his heir to the throne, Absolut."
Perhaps it was a bit too much information, but Kuueru felt as if she could trust this man. Although a bit off put by him asking about herself, she cleared her throat and tried to come up with the best way to phrase what she had to say. "I'm Kuueru as you know. . . No, I'm not some Demon Lord, and no---I haven't even been back to the Demon Realm but once in this past year," Kuueru retorted with a soft chuckle. "I am part demon yes, perhaps that is why I'm not as ruthless as some of the full-blooded folks. My other half is a bit of a mystery, but my friend seems to think it of something holy. An odd mixture, sure---but I live with it. Other than that, I'm seven hundred and fifty-one, a woman, no offspring and I have an affinity for tasting new and exotic foods. Unfortunately, my time in the mortal realm is seeming to pay off on my poor hips."Kuueru smiled and pointed to her thighs, though---they probably didn't look that much odd, to her the tone of her muscles were starting to hide behind a thin layer of fat.

Tora listened intently to Kuueru, nodding in confirmation as she spoke. He was surprised to learn of several things; First, that she had beaten Polaris in a fight. Second, that his power exceeded levels of sixteen million. That was... Impressive wasn't even the word. That was ridiculous. And if she had been capable of besting him, she was more than impressive herself. She spoke of her plans to help a new emperor come to fruition, that of his heir. Beyond that, she professed that she was actually quite ancient. Over 700 years old!
Tora looked her up and down, surprised. Genuinely. That was one thing he couldn't have guessed himself. Then again, apparently Amatracina was even older than her. She said that the Demoness more than likely held more dark plans for this universe. He couldn't help but agree with that suspicion. The main thing that interested him was her description of her hybrid heritage.
She claimed demonic and holy heritage. A strange mixture, indeed. Tora felt no judgement of her in this explanation; Just a natural curiousity. The funniest thing of it all was her desire for mortal delicacies. He wasn't surprised- that was how they had met, in fact. Tora smiled at her, scratching his head. "So, I could ask a million questions about the whole holy demon schtick, but I really don't care what you are! You're fine to me. I was just wondering. I am actually more interested in this whole food fiasco, actually. What led you to start experimenting so much with food? And, uh, what is your favorite food? And favorite place to go to eat? I'm just curious..."
From there, he shifted to a more serious topic. "And are you sure that this Absolut is really willing to just become and Emperor? Is he the type..? Neither of us seem to be ambitious in that sense. Are you sure you should continue making Empires? I have to be frank with you, I've found that men who call themselves Emperor, King, President... They all have something in common. They clutch to that power with their dying breath- it's much different from physical strength. If you're strong, it's rare your strength wanes short of disease or age. But you still retain that mental strength. The power gained from controlling an Empire is... Intoxicating, probably. Are you sure you're picking the right person? You don't want to create a madman with too much power. I know nothing about Polaris, or his heir, it's just a question."
Apparently, Tora considered himself a philosopher as well as a martial artist.

ICE COLD Kuueru found herself snickering at his look of surprise as she revealed her age. It wouldn't be the first, nor the last time she gauged such a reaction. Alas, it was slightly amusing to the woman to reveal that she was quite the grandma, not literally of course. Ironically the look of shock upon his face was more so from this fact than the revelation that she indeed was of Demonic origin. In fact, the man chose to avert his questions from her heritage and shift to her love of food. Her brows furrowed in confusion, but she thought about his question nonetheless. While they had met during a competition of eating hot dogs, there were indeed a variety of foods that the demoness enjoyed indulging on. She tapped a single finger upon her chin while trying to mentally rank all of the foods she had tasted and judged in her year living in the Mortal Realm. While it was a tough task, Kuueru could place a few things. "There is this restaurant on Mitra that serves another Earthling delicacy I enjoy. I believe it's called, 'Prime Rib'?" Kuueru nodded as she mentally salivated over the taste of the meat. She quickly shook her head and turned her attention back to the man. "Of course, you know of my love of the hot dog, but don't let that fool you. I'm quite the connoisseur of cuisines. I'll try everything once! I haven't found anything I don't like yet, except for honey. Honey is putrid." Kuueru explained. While she disliked sweets, honey was a natural one that cursed many a dish and dessert in her travels. Something about it tasted odd on her tongue. Perhaps this too was intertwined with her demonic blood? The talk of food suddenly shifted. The Tiger warrior before her now shifted his words to Absolut. She nodded. It was true, the young heir may put up some resistance or hesitation to turn over a new path and become the leader of such an enormous faction. Not only that, Tora questioned the intoxicating effect having such a power could have. "At the very least, as Polaris's son he is entitled to something of the wealth and notoriety presented by this. Even if he chose to dissolve the Empire and part ways, there are still decisions that he needs to make to do that. If anything, I think there will be reform. I think Absolut will be levelheaded and respected among his citizens, instead of feared. Hopefully he can progress us from an Empire into something of his own liking. I am fine with that."Kuueru paused and took a few steps towards the Tiger man who seemed to be interested in talking politics. It contrasted lately to their last meeting of eating and throwing punches. She rested a hand upon his shoulder, her cold touch almost burning the skin. "Absolut is weak. If he gets too out of hand and sick with power, we can tame him. I like to think that I am not a bad person, at least, for now." A devious grin played on her plump lips as her lavender eyes shifted to an icy blue. "I actually, am signing up for a tournament soon. You should be looking forward to watching me on the Holonet."

Kuueru described her passion for mortal delicacy in more detail, almost causing Tora's mouth to salivate at the thought of some prime rib. Tora was a skilled cook himself; But his style of cooking was not designed for the kitchen. He was primal, with most of his dishes seared on an open flame. The concept of dining out for him was not unknown, but it was a rare treat. She spoke of Absolut, and his inheritance from Polaris- a large portion of the known universe.
Quite the family heirloom. Tora wondered if his deceased parents had written up a will. They had been wealthy entrepeneurs, dedicating their life to business and pleasure. Their drive for travel was how they had ended up crash landing, and dying, on this island the pair now stood on. She insisted that if it came down to it, she could 'tame' Absolut if he became sick with power. The notion of that actually evoked a sense of fear in Tora no Seishin. He had seen firsthand a glimpse into Kuueru's strength. He imagined that it ran far deeper than he had seen- back then he had definitely not been powerful enough to challenge her very much.
If only he had achieved then what he had achieved now. For a moment he contemplated bringing it up to her- his recent boost in power. But then he recalled- she was a member of a rather foreboding Empire. Not that he didn't trust her anymore. She was still his friend. But sometimes you should even be wary of friends, and sometimes it was for their own good. At the end of the day, Kuueru seemed to be many things to Tora. Perhaps it was an act, but she overall seemed naive for her standing and power- especially for her age. A few centuries old, yet still not wary of the corrupting nature of greed.
Then again, perhaps her unique heritage made her the perfect person to bring balance to such an unbalanced universe. She seemed aware of the misguided intentions of Polaris, and seemed to have faith in his heir. Maybe this boy would be better than his father. But, still, he'd be an Emperor. A man to rule other men. Something about that never sat right with Tora no Seishin. He sighed at Kuueru, his shoulders relaxing.
"A tournament, huh..? I'll be sure to catch it..." he said. Tora didn't mean that in the sense of spectating. If Kuueru was going to be in a tournament, Tora wanted in. It would be a chance to have a rematch, one more befitting than a casual demonstration. Tora wanted an opportunity to prove himself to the girl. More importantly...
Tora wanted to feel stronger himself. It wasn't as if he had complete faith in the power he held now- even in comparison to what he had seen of Kuueru, it was a candle to a flame. He remembered all of his losses up to this point. Kamui. Kaijin. Kuueru herself. A few scattered victories, almost hollow in nature in between. Against small fry. Like himself, or the man he had been before. On the precipice of greatness.
Was he great now? Truly? Having discovered an old technique thought lost to the ages whilst dreaming, Tora wondered if he was destined for something. It was like... A reverse premonition. A demonstration of what came before. The old masters of the Tiger Style would pick one of the animals and bind their soul to them; They could draw on the chi, or ki, of the animal and augment their own with it. It would alter their appearance, and give them not only a partner to fight with, but a set of armor to shield them as well as changed physical attributes.
Claws. Fangs. A bladed tail, whose strength was deceptive. All part of the next level in the Tiger Style, the level that Tora had obtained. But he had yet to test the new form, as well as its' limitations. He imagined as he gained combat experience within the form he could further master it. He already had achieved something beyond what the previous masters of the Tiger Style were capable of- his levels of power were beyond what most humans were ever going to achieve in their lifetimes.
But he still felt like a child sometimes. Helpless against a world much larger than himself. In this moment, Kuueru represented that plateau he had yet to reach. He felt as though he had been climbing for years, never to reach for anything. But, he didn't want to explain himself to the girl- nor did he want to give away his desire to face her again in the same tournament she had just described. He flashed a care-free smile her way, nonchalantly transitioning to his next question:
"What's it called, exactly? This tournament? Don't want to miss my chance to see you in action."

ICE COLD Tora was a turmoiled man. On the outside he flashed smiles and a relatively friendly demeanor. Still, her demonic years of experience could peel a person like a vegetable and search their inner emotions. It was something she had perfected over the centuries. Using such a skill she could see the spark in the man's eyes to become greater. Greater than even Kuueru. The thought of his determination only made Kuueru herself flash a smile of her own. He was an Earthling all right. The tenacity of his very soul shined bright for all to see, not that he didn't boast about himself and his fighting style all the time anyhow. Kuueru watched his body shift and move. Every way he fidgeted or shifted his weight told her a story about what was plaguing his mind or soul. Kuueru felt a bit of apprehension, about her of all things. It wasn't wrong of the man to doubt her or her intentions. After all, she didn't trust many people herself outside of Lute. " Yes, a tournament. I believe it is hosted by someone called. . . Shroomy? Shroomy's Invitatiional if I'm recollecting right. Supposedly it is a small tournament organized by Shroomy himself. He is supposedly scouting the galaxy for those strong enough to join. I'm going to put my bid in with a guy who is a new comrade. Doctor Kaijin Vex. He actually bested me in battle, so I'm lucky to have him on my side."
Kuueru sighed, thinking back to the battle she had with the android. Yes, he took the win in that fight; but part of her threw it anyhow. If she were to fight the man again, she would completely counter him with everything in her arsenal. Kuueru didn't like being made a fool of, especially by something created with mortal hands. It was insulting. Insulting to her, to her pride, to her record. She would be sure to make her power known in this upcoming tournament; it had been quite too long since she had had to put herself to the limits. This was her chance to be uttered by the lips of strangers. "Oh, and trust me. I aim to be seen all right. I have amassed quite a fountain of power since our last encounter, I feel like you have done the same. We will have to fight again someday to see just what you're made of kitty cat." Kuueru winked and shot the blue-haired man a playful grin before pushing herself off the trunk of the tree. She sauntered over towards Tora, her finger pointing to his chest while her gaze fixated upon his own very seriously. "Keep up your training, I certainly can tell whatever you're doing is working my friend. And uh, leave the Empire stuff up to me. I can certainly handle someone who's a little power crazy. Hell, I've lived long enough to know better than to try it myself. I have everything I could ever want or need as is. There's no need for me to become the Empress either. Though, if the opportunity arose, I certainly would head the helm and perhaps change things for the better. But let's not doubt young Absolut just yet, I have a good feeling."
Kuueru smiled before waving a hand towards Tora. "Anyhow, I best be going. I have a reservation about…oh shit, in three minutes for something called 'sushi'. I heard it's something that takes a unique palate to like, so. . . It was good seeing you again Tora. Keep your eyes peeled for me on the big screen!" With that, she was gone.
