I just found this sub-board, because reading is apparently hard. So allow me to give a formal introduction on myself. I am Amatricina, and writing has been an on again off again passion of mine for years. I read a lot growing up, and I spent a lot of time playing D&D 3.5 with friends through college. That said, I am still a little unfamiliar to the whole rpg play by post hybrid style going on here, but I'm learning so that's good. A bit of background, most of my roleplay experience comes from an A Song of Fire & Ice Roleplay (Or Game of Thrones if you're more familiar with the show). Characters there were more about the knowledge they possessed, not the physical stats they accumulated. Battles were fought with armies in a kind of table top minifigure format, though there was a dueling system for two characters meeting in battle or trials by combat.
What this all means is, I like the big picture. I like breathing life into worlds, lore and world building is my passion. The stories a character tells are all well and good, but to do so in a world that feels fleshed out and realized is to go a step further. I love Dragonball and it's goofy journey into the west, in space! setting. I tend to go heavy into detail in my writing, I'm a very visual person and for me, being able to see what I'm reading in my mind's eye is an important part of literature. Since many things in my previous roleplay were time (player travel, message ravens, movements of ships and armies, reinforcement rates, sieges), I try to be as punctual as humanly possible with my replies.
Out of character I realize I can be a little aloof with people. That's just kind of how I am. If I ever come off as overly harsh or insensitive, just let me know. Sarcasm also doesn't translate well through text, so I tend to just take everything people say at face value. I'm a pretty laid back individual, there isn't much I'm uncomfortable talking about and my sense of humor is pretty dark. Anyways, I'm rambling at this point, but I like this place, and the first week or so has been fun. The community is friendly and helpful, and the staff are active and attentive. So all things considered I hope to around for a good long while.
