Beet Town, Planet Vegeta
An ancient Saiyan village. According to the ancient oral traditions, traditions that were now known only to one person, it was founded six generations before King Vegeta began to unify the Clans. The Land of Clan Betah, built on lots of sweat and blood, as they fought with other clans to earn their right to the land, for the right to plant beets. Even after the other clans recognized them, the threat of bandits never disappeared.
As such, the clan always ensured it was battle ready, forming up a militia and requiring every man, woman, and child in the town to serve time there. Forunately, there were enough people to go around and perform militia work in shifts. They could still work and serve. And as time went on, it became prosperous - by Saiyan standards, at least. By its fifth generation, it had grown to over three score, with nearly half of those immigrants from outside. Life was good. Bandits aside, they lived in peace, to farm their beets, hunt their own game, and sell the results of their hard work.
But everything changed when the Tuffle Army attacked.
It was not entirely unjustified. The Tuffles had long been wary of their Saiyan neighbors. And they had very good reasons to believe that King Vegeta, once he completed the unification of the clans, would then direct all of that Saiyan aggression on the Tuffles. It wasn't a matter of if, but of when.
Preferring to take the initiative, certain elements within the Tuffle Government believed it in their best interest to stage a pre-emptive assault. And so they did. Most of the militia was away when they struck. King Vegeta had ordered them to gather at his Capital, and so most of the outlying Saiyan settlements were mostly defenseless when the Tuffles attacked. But for Beet Town, one villager, delayed from joining her comrades by pure dumb luck, was caught in the attack and fought back.
Though she fought valiantly, she eventually fell. She was captured, along with the others in her village, experimented on, and forgotten... The town was abandoned after the battle, and the survivors who weren't captured joined the Army to avenge their home. And so, history went on as it did. The Saiyans won this war, and conquered the world. Soon they were discovered and integrated into the Frieza Force, where they were paid to do the thing they loved the most... to fight.
After the better part of a decade, Planet Vegeta was destroyed.
Now, however, it was a ghost world, returning from the void under mysterious circumstances. An empty world. The ruins of Tuffle cities. The empty - if still functional - cities built by the Saiyans. Lifeless. All emphasized by the very slowly rotting corpse of a monstrous Frost Demon that had grown to the size of a city... baking in the arid desert just outside the walls of the Capital that King Vegeta built with Saiyan sweat - Cornucopia City.
Perhaps only archaeologists would have any interest in this place. Or perhaps the Dominion. But a ghost planet had its own ghosts. Official records indicated that Emperor Polaris had slain Lord Glacio, yes. But rumors soon began to circulate that the world was haunted, that a vengeful demonic Great Ape had done the deed instead.
It was this so-called haunting that dissuaded most average people from coming here. But this farmer didn't believe in ghosts. At least, not the kind of ghosts who could hurt people. As such, she was here. This was a great home, if you got past the seemingly lonely existence of being the only person living on this dirtball. The soil was bad. And she wouldn't have it any other way. It was a great challenge, after all. But sometimes, you couldn't solve a problem by yourself...
Four people had answered her summons. Where they came from, it didn't matter. Who they were, was secondary. What was most important was their courage. They came, despite the rumors, the ghost stories, the myths. These were people she could work with.
When they had assembled, it wasn't clear where she was. They had gathered in front of the correct farmhouse, at least. All of the places were either made of mossy rocks cobbled together with some unknown adhesive, or melted to stick with ki. Eternally red skies up above, and arid dirt below. The palisades looked like they were being patched up after several breaches from a long time ago. Many of the buildings were badly damaged, scorched with ki or plasma fire. While it was devoid of corpses, several broken machines, the kind that vaguely resembled gunships, lay strewn about the town square, their electronics rusting from a few years' worth of wear.
All that could be heard aside from the wind was a certain rhythmic hammering sound from somewhere in the back, sporting a small power level of 30, just enough to scare off any possible wild animals - not that there seemed to be any wild animals here, at any rate. After a few moments, the hammering stopped, soon replaced by footsteps coming around from the back.
A Humble Beet Farmer
When she emerged, she was dressed in bright yellow construction clothes, helmet and all, hefting a gigantic wooden beam on her shoulder. Her scarlet tail wrapped tightly around her waist like a fuzzy belt. Grunting, she set the beam down on the ground with a powerful thud, then opened up with her greetings. "I'd like to thank you all for coming here for such a humble request. I did not invite you to fight a great battle, or to save a princess. I only asked for some help with my crops. And for that, you have my gratuitousness."
She bowed. One could tell from that misuse of the word, that her vocabulary wasn't the best. Probably why she was a farmer. It was surely a miracle that she got that broadcast working at all.
"I am Ipomea of Clan Taba, a humble beet farmer. Welcome to my home, Beet Town. As you can see," she motioned behind her, at the unfinished building behind the farmhouse "The repairs aren't complete yet, but in enough time, it will be good as new! I've been studying ConstructoPedia!"
The farmer cleared her throat.
"In any case, let's go inside first, and I'll explain my problem in more detail."
Beckoning, she led the way into the farmhouse.
